I will be the 1st to say I was not expecting what was there, It was absolutely wonderful the Rangers were nothing but help and they encouraged the kids along with my son to you get more involved into the different artifacts. My son had an absolute blast and so did I after we went to the museum we went and did a few of the trails. We finished off at the cracker village that was also a huge hit. Im surprised I never knew that was there and I was born and raised the next county over, we will definitely be going back to explore some more and hope to make it for the reenactment next weekend!

Absolutely and fantastic play to spend a day or longer. My wife and I love the greatly maintained trails, and our dog loves that he can come along!

If you are visiting Silver Springs State Park or the camp ground, I would highly recommend checking out the museum. The admission is only $2. It is a nice museum show casing not only the Silver River natural environment but the State of Florida as well along with plenty of Florida history. The displays are nice, well-kept and very informative. There is a good variety of visual and interactive displays and reading. The staff are very volunteers who are very knowledgeable about the museum and and local area as well. There is also a small gift shop with souvenirs and post cards.

This place is extremely clean and a great Museum to bring your kid/kids too. Very informative and fun! Lots of interaction between the staff and animals.

Fun for the family. This includes a school house, cute old houses, old fashioned syrup maker and a cannon! Yes, I said cannon! So many more things to see. Really nice wooded park area with plenty of shade to stay out of the sun.

Nice staff, very clean area, good for picnics, camping and hike. $8.00 per car.

The boat trip was wonderful. We saw a lot of birds, turtles and alligators. Our Captain was very knowledgeable and took the time to point out all of the birds that we couldnt see easily.

This is a great reconstructed village connected the the Silver Springs campground showing what life was like during Florida pioneer days. Entrance was free when I was there on a weekday and its a great place to take kids to show them some living history.

This place is beautiful, has rich history, and does an excellent job of preserving the environment and educating others on conservation. We need more places like this!

Very nice, interactive local museum with historical artifacts and replicas. Large scale prehistoric animals...Travel through time along with exhibitions. Great for kids and adults.The entire park is really nice and great to walk through. Lots to see and enjoy!

One of the best State parks we have visited! The glass bottom boat ride was great! We camped on the other side, very quiet! The park rangers were very helpful!

Great historical setting of life in Florida. Very nice for families and Marion County, Florida students to learn more about what attracted people to the area back in the day. The museum is set up to accurately depict life in the area from prehistoric times to almost present-day.

A must see park to visit while in Ocala, Florida. The park rangers are very helpful with any questions you might have.

Great museum, minimal entance fee goes to the public school program that holds classes here. So much to see and do between the museum, hiking trails, cracker village, and very knowledgeable volunteers

A must see if youre in the area! The museum is great, and fun for everyone. Walk the trails, walk around the main spring area, you could easily spend half the day here.

Excellent! Highly motivated, knowledgeable instructor put on an excellent presentation in the woods and in the water today for the 5th grade class. Glad I got to chaperon my sons class. A day well spent

There is a wealth of information in this small museum. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was well worth the $2 admission fee!

A lot of history to be learned in this little Cracker village. Cool place. We were lucky enough to get to go into the old school house on our visit. The museum is definitely worth checking out.

We went during a school field trip. It was a lot of fun and the kids really enjoy that that can interact while they learn. Thank you!

The Silver River Museum is on the Silver Springs State Park property. We rented a cabin there for a vacation and went the museum and it was wonderful! The recreated cracker town is very authentic and the staff was extremely friendly to us, including our 3 y/o daughter. She got to grind corn and pump water for the garden as well as learn about what life was like a long time ago. She probably would have appreciated it more if she was older but the staff was very forgiving of her being distracted.The inside of the museum was very educational and was geared toward children as well. There is even a touch area where the kids can touch artifacts.The cost for the museum is a $2 donation which we happily made.

This place is awesome if you like learning about Florida nature and history.The museum is arranged with exhibits of what Florida was like hundreds of years ago. The glass bottom boat is a look at what the florida springs were like in the old days right up to today. When I was teaching, we took our classes on a field trip yearly, and it was always a great day to get out of the classroom to where the kids were actually experiencing the real Florida as it was long ago, from prehistoric time to our lifetimes now.

As of December 2019 they are cash only. I love that huge mammoth skeleton.

What a great time; if you are in the area this is worth the stop. Glass bottom boat tours are $10/person and well worth it. You are able to get clear views of the springs and all the wildlife and the history of the park going from private movie studio ownership to the state. Some of the movie props are still at the bottom of the springs! Expect to see dozens of different bird species, many fish, alligators, and even monkeys if you get it at the right time. The gardens and trails are beautiful.

My grandkids and I had fun visiting the Museum. It was a great experience.

Went there for Ocali Days which was fantastic. Saw Ocalas oldest school house which had been moved there. There were many different set ups to show how people lived in the old days from how they made their clothes, made sugar cane made things from leather goods etc. The museum had really expanded since the last time I was there with the history of Ocala, Silver Springs and surrounding areas. The museum is good for all ages. There are trails to the river you can walk to which is worth the effort.

Learn something new every day! Impressive gem tucked away in the forest. Went during Ocali Days in Nov.

The museum is a real gem, truly rich in a variety of artifacts. Only open to the public on weekends, so plan accordingly.

Very interesting pioneer museum

Loved the whole Silver Springs day! The ride on the glass bottom boat is nice and the museum is small, but great!

I was impressed with the fossil collection. A smaller version of the Florida Museum of Natural History. The Siver Springs knap in was taking place and was interesting and fun.

Silver springs state park is a wonderful campground. Spaceous sites, pet friendly, ranger staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Very clean and well kept. Lots of trees. Definitely would recommend to anyone who enjoys a place like this. Close to zipline and horseback riding attraction called The Canyons. Great place also. Horseback riding very peaceful, zipline a blast if your adventurous.

Great place! Lots of exhibits in the museum dating very far back. Staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. Outside the main building is a reproduction of a settlers farm. Oh, if you ever thought youve seen allot of squirrels in one place I challenge you to compare it to this village. Nice hiking trails leading off from the parking lot. Very cute, very quaint, and we were there from Sunday to Tuesday and the place never got crazy. Really enjoyed my time there.

Did I leave anything out?Smiles!Some,are more of the exhibits are Florida Indians,and Trade!Food Webs,and Chains! Florida Black Bear!Timucuan Indians and the Arrival of the Europeans!Touch Table!Okay to Touch Do Not Remove! Movie Making at Silver Springs!Marion County History! A nice little place for exploring central Florida nature and history.Great nature hike and informative little museum and replicated cracker homestead are great places to explore. A worthwhile visit for our of town visitors and locals alike!

This is a lovly part of the real Florida. The park is well maintained, has hiking trails, shady picnic areas, wheelchair accessible walkways. The museum is top notch with several full size prehistoric animal skeletons. Worth the trip.

For the $2.00 entry fee, it is a awesome little museum. Its in silver river state park, which has several nice trails, picnic tables, grills, playground, and a very cool little village.

This is a nice place with friendly volunteers, and interesting history about Ocala. Theres also picnic tables, walking trails, and several events throughout the year.

Went here for a flint knapping event. It was awesome. Adorable little history museum and a great day all around.

Wonderful little hidden treasure! So surprised by all the history and artifacts you can explore and discover. Dont forget to look for the Red-Eared Sliders around the side of the building.
