My family loved this place! Very affordable family night. Staff is also great!
Great prices! First time going to a drive in and my husband and kids all enjoyed the experience. The sound quality was great through the radio. Staff was very friendly too. Only downside was the brightness of the movie could have been turned up a notch or two.
It was myself and the families first time to a drive in theatre. We watched the jungle book and a movie with Zendaya in it which I do not recall the name right now, but it was cool (no issues with sound) even when the rain began to pour. It was fun for family and to spend that time with each other. It is what you make it and for us it was family hang out with good junk food. We bought sodas, nachos, burgers, pizza, hot dog and cheese jalapenos which were good!
I really enjoy this! Great activity to get out during the Pandemic!
I absolutely love coming to this theater! They are always so nice and quick! Love that you can sit in your car and not listen to anyone interrupt your experience. The concessions are amazing and very fairly priced (cheaper than big movie chains) Very great deal for two movies only being $6 a person, Where could you get a better value?? This is my go to theater! Thank you Ocala Drive-in!!!
The Drive-In is usually great. Sometimes the clientele needs work but typically fine. Observed a few arguments over parking spots...quickly taken care of by staff though. Price is dirt cheap compared to an indoor theater.Food....I have no issues buying food products at the facility as requested, but some seem to buck the system and bring their own unfortunately. Food prices are fine (very reasonable), food quality is fine. Speed of food service is fine. Selection is good unless you have dietary restrictions. Pizza deal is great. Really no reason to bring your own food. Honor the request of the business, youre getting 2 movies for peanuts in comparison to other entertainment options.Bathrooms......uh, nice and clean at 8, not so much at 11. To be expected though. Could use a bigger bathroom facility, maybe my only complaint I guess. Other than that, I highly recommend heading to this drive-in for your next movie.
Very good alternative to packed theaters. Time for the drive-in comeback. Food service is very good. Friendly people quick delivery order from your car. Nice set up.
Rating this 5 stars though ive not been there. This is simply why: Savage response to entitled little @#$% that really didnt think things through. Great staff/owner response. Welcome to the Mad Lads kids!
Amazing place. The Halloween 9 hour special was epic! Great junk food and treats. Great family fun!
I saw Tenet at the drive in recently and had a pretty good time. The box office employees weren’t wearing masks but everyone at the concession building were. Image quality and sound were surprisingly great! I would def go back again.
BEST DRIVE IN!!! Conveniently never closed when everything else did. I love the staff. Respect them and always buy the food! ♡ thanks Ocala drive in for so many good times!
Food was good and they bring it to your car. I would bring a hand held radio if you dont want to run your car while the movie is going.Thing you need to go:Portable radio,Bug spray if you sit with windows down or outside,Portable chairs if you want to sit out of your carFan for summer and blanket for winter.
Love the Ocala drive in! My boyfriend and I drive down almost once a week from an hour away to support them. Theyve been really good about social distancing which makes me feel safe, and its nice to get to watch a great movie under the stars!
We had such a wonderful time here at the theater! We actually saw the new 2020 Tenant for only $6 a person! So nice to sit in the car and social distance but still have fun.
A fantastic drive-in with two screens and a wonderful staff!! These folks are the most friendly staff of any drive-in Ive ever attended! What a great experience for the whole family!! The food & drinks offering at the concession stand was amazing too! I strongly recommend this outdoor theatre to everyone. You wont be disappointed as its a good time for all!!
Awesome night at the drive in with my family for the Garth Brooks concert. I really appreciated that they brought a live opening act in before the concert, just as a concert should really be. I saw another reviewer said something about the announcer having a mouth full of Cheerios. I guess not everyone has heard an accent before and has no idea what one is when they hear it. Newsflash - people actually come from all over!We ordered delivery from the concession stand a few times during the show and it was delivered quick and hot. Food was excellent as were the prices. With no real way to know when life will return to normal, I’m glad to be able to still attend a concert. I hope there are more in the future.Awesome job Ocala Drive-In and thanks for being open!
The area is very nice and clean. Two movies for only six dollars. The drive is family friendly. Good food at reasonable rates.
I love this place! My parents used to bring us here in the 80’s to watch movies and that’s when there was only 1 screen and was only open on the weekends. I even used to come here with my dad when he would set up at the flea market. And tonight I brought my kid here for a good ol’ fashion family movie night!!! She loved it!!! So I expect to be doing this a whole lot more often....yaaaayyyyy!!!
One of the best movie experiences I have had, watching a movie in the comfort of your own car is awesome and the people running it are great!
It was great to be at an organization that will sponsor kids or children with autism and other disabilities it was a great atmosphere for my daughter that had autism as well and it was a great pleasure to see that my friend autism welcome decal was posted letting me know that she had approved it
Great experience! We chose to order our food online and have it delivered to the vehicle. delivered hot and server wore mask felt safe and comfortable
We enjoyed watching Toy Story there. Great quality, good popcorn!
Great fun 3 Movies$6 for adults$3 for kidsLoved it rain or shine
Went for the Blake Shelton concert. The announcer was rude and totally ruined the evening with his multiple threats to throw people out if they brought in food or drinks. People were there to blow off steam, not to be threatened or intimidated. I understand your point and want you to make money, however you should change your tactics and approach. There are better ways to inform people of your guidelines prior to the event and upon their arrival. Also, the sound system was inadequate for a concert. Thanks for being there and listening. I wish you well.
They need to fix the sound quality, there was static. Also letting cars in after the movie started took away from the atmosphere. Other than that, it was pretty fun.
Awesome, Im used to the drive-in out in dade city and this one is just as if not better. If it werent such a drive from home Id visit more often. Went on a date with my wife and the staff was very polite. The owner is also an awesome person
We had an awesome time, very small but we enjoyed. The $10 food credit was rewarding
Love Love Love this place!Make sure you visit the concession stand and support this terrific local business!
Super great experience! The food was amazing and everything was reasonably priced, if not better. Definitely making coming here a ritual!
We used to come here to watch movies waaaay back when Mel Gibson was a Road Warrior. Since COVID-19, we became Pokémon junkies. Now we come here for the Poké stops. We can spin the stops to get items and we can throw the heck outta our balls to catch monsters and no one goes Mad Max on us.
Love going here ! Favorite place to go with my family and friends !
Wow Great place...Great quality sound and visual....I highly recommend for date or family night outing
Cheap tickets for a double feature and pretty good food. Makes for a nice date night
Awesome time. Beautiful weather. Good snacks at a reasonable price.
Better double check before you go. Website didnt say no movies this weekend only concerts ..Drove 45 min to go home
Good Family Fun. Great Prices. Warm extensive snack menu. The Best time!!
Theres really nothing like a drive in. It a great way to make some great family memories. The location was nice concession had a good variety.
Came here for date night and watched Toy Story! Great experience!
Enjoyed watching Hocus Pocus excellent movie at Halloween. Nicest folks ever in the concession stand!!!!
Great place, good price, and family friendly!
Great place an I always have a great time. Wish I could go every day tbh.
Attended Blake Shelton Concert. Drove from Tampa. Was told to get there early and we did arriving at 5:30 PM. The Blake Shelton Concert was great. The staff collecting the tickets and parking the cars were great. Social Distance was enforced. (Thank you) We were parked up front, so sound system was 100% for us. the exit instructions at 11:00 PM were so greatly appreciated. Entertainer pre-show (said it was his first large gig, we would do a 3 /10. I use a medical catheter, and need a clean restroom. Remember please that we arrived at 5:30 PM and the concert was over at 11:30 PM. I first went to the mens restroom near 7:00 PM, found it flooded with over an inch of dirty yellow water. The water was standing in the stalls, out to the urinals and to the sink(s). Reported this to a food delivery person, went back later, same thing. No signs, no one working on the problem, and observed two men standing in water using the urinals. Wish I had taken a picture. On the concessions, I still have the Blake Shelton Admission ticket and no where on the ticket does it state anything about no food at entry. The four foot signs demanding $10.00 at the entrance were a complete surprise after paying $114.00 for the admission ticket. It is our opinion, that never should a business ever, even once, berate customers over a PA System. Announcing rules is fine as was done with social distance. On outside food, the PA announcer went off the deep end, no cool at all. But please, Restrooms should be checked every half hour when there was /is a full house. The owner talked about Disrespect over the PA system, and to me, the restroom was one of the most disrespectful things I have encountered in years. We were a captive audience with No leaving and posted no reentry. #1 job, make your guests feel welcome and appreciated. The Blake Shelton Concert made it all worth while. Tom Arthur
Update: I reviewed 2 years ago and loved going to this place as a kid, I have not had the privilege of going recently. After seeing the sick burns this owner hands out to the Karens going to this place and rating it 1 star I will be going here every chance I get when I am back in the area! You rock!
Its a old time drive in some of the staff are up tite and a little rude. But other than that it was clean. Concession prices arent to bad.
We always have a great time here when we visit Ocala. It is a great place to make fun memories with the family. Clean facilities, great food selection and great prices.
Dont be fooled by the overall rating; this place has A LOT of 1 star reviews that are consistent about the low quality of the drive in and the owners poor character:The food is disgusting, the drive in and concessions stand is dirty and looks rundownRead the other 1 and 2 star reviews and youll see the owner picks a fight with anyone who gives him a low rating.Hes creepy.Silver moon is a better drive in and better experience
So glad to know that there is such a place so near me. Grew up on Drive Ins. Love the family experiences we had and can continue to have.
Kane brown concert next best thing to being there
I loved every time weve been and looking forward to going again
I was visiting from naples fl loved it great movies best food ever never seen so many choices the people are super nice thank you so much
Love the drive in. Good old fashioned family and date night fun. Prices are great.
Cute fun and family friendly! I went with my husband just as a cute date night and alternative to the over priced indoor movies we usually go to. They ask you not to bring in outside food since it was fine since the food the offer was fresh and the prices were reasonable clean restrooms and security services walking around. I would recommend you get the on time because the movies start exactly at the times they list on their website no 45 minutes of previews there. All in all a great trip for couples and families we will definitely go again!
Where to even begin? Not only is coming here to see a movie an experience in itself, but the current owner goes above and beyond to make your experience nothing less than exceptional, every single time. When an owner of a business doesn’t absolutely have to be there, but chooses to day after day - that’s how you know you’re somewhere that gives a care. The sound is clear, the prices are 100% more than fair, the picture is clear, and the concessions are substantial. I would choose this over the theatre any day, any movie. This particular instance, I messaged their Facebook in hopes of finding out about a particular candy offered at their stands. My friend was being deployed, and he loved the movies, but had a candy ritual that needed to be met or else the experience just wasn’t the same (I’m sure we’ve all been there?). They responded quickly after, offered adjustments to what they didn’t have on my list, and then took it upon themselves to offer a spot before the movie to throw a picture and a farewell message on the screen of us. Owner kept up with me all day to make sure I would be there for the display, and then wrote his own message, thanking my friend for his services, and then displayed and played the star spangled banner. Needless to say, we were in tears, and I will never forget that moment.Just an amazing place, amazing owner, and an experience you shouldn’t deprive yourself of!!
A bit of history in Ocala. Family enjoyment. A right of passage for youth. Memories for many others.
Old fashioned furniture and odds and ends good prices
The drive in folks were gracious enough to allow our church to use their facilities for a service. I understand they are doing this for at least one other church as well. This is a wonderful and thoughtful thing for them to do.
Great deal for movies. A lot cheaper for everyone good food and cheap prices on there food you can afford to take your family.
The Garth concert was awesome last night. It ended up being shorter and the time got pushed later because of the elvis opener. (Terrible) I would still do 4 start for this cus I had a blast. Also I want to make a shout out for Ocala drive in concession mozzarella sticks!!!! They are always so good.
Definitely our favorite place to go in Ocala! The drive-in is $6 per person for 2 movies! You cannot beat that price. They do ask that you dont bring in outside food as they make most of their money off of the concessions stand. This is never a problem for us because their concessions menu is huge. They sell everything from candy and nachos all the way to full catfish dinners. We love supporting the drive-in! There are plenty of parking spots and the video quality is good. We go at least once a month! Check out their website to see what is playing tonight!
Great place for family fun! Good food clean restrooms!
I hope this place lives on forever! Bringing my family here is literally the memories that can never be erased! Always order your food and drinks from their concession store because you get two movies for $6/adult and that literally cannot be beat and the food and drinks keeps the new movies rolling in for cheap prices! They have an outdoor seating area if you prefer to watch the movie outside under the stars, they have plenty of parking for you to back up and lay in your vehicle to watch the movie, and an outdoor open space where kids from all over come together to play until the movie begins! They also have an arcade to buy time until the movie as well!! Please stop by and show some love to this place because it went from being beat down and abandoned from when it was first bought a few years back to now being an Ocala highlight!
10/10 glad to see a business owner who understands that the customer doesn’t get to walk over people. Great theater and food
Great place! Just wish they would play more adult movies, every time I check whats showing seems to always be children movies. Great weather for a drive in but dont have children. Other than that, I recommend!
Started pouring rain & screen went out. 5 yr old got a little restless & we had to leave. Our money was returned no questions asked. We came back 2 nts later & even after all the confusion they recognized us & we had a great time. The food is top notch for the venue & very reasonably priced. Well go back very often.
I always enjoy coming here.
We had a great time,y battery died and the employees jumped the car for me. Super nice and friendly.
Fun drive in with a good concession stand.
We always have such a great time at the Ocala drive-in. Its the perfect family outing and a wonderful reason to get outside. The food is always good, and everyone goes the distance to make it a wonderful place.
Love this place! 2 movies for the price of 1! Also I have young kids so this is a perfect way for us to go out and see a movie as a family, without disrupting other people watching the movie. Definitely one of my favorite places in Ocala
I really dislike the traditional movie theater for many reasons. This place is much better than a normal theater by far, if you ask me. Much easier on the wallet. Two films for one price? Yes! So much easier to take my daughter and she has more fun too! So glad my daughter can still experience this sort of thing too, since a drive-in these days is relatively rare.
Family friendly cheap prices and a great way to make memories with your kids! I grew up near ft. Lauderdale going to thunder bird and this place reminds me of those times
Ive always loved coming here.
Enjoyed a great evening with the family here, very cool place
The screens are awesome! Room enough to move around.
Nice people work here very helpful.
Words cannot express how amazing this place is but Ill give it a try... going to see a movie in the comfort of your own car is amazing! The concessions are delicious, the staff are knowledgeable and a kind and the prices cant be beat. We live over three hours away but make it a point to make family trips there. Hope to continue to make many more.
Great fun for the family. I definitely appreciate being able to take my small kids to the movies in the comfort of my vehicle. Prices are great. The only thing I would suggest would be staff to direct traffic to parking spaces as I found people parked haphazardly so it was a little difficult to find a spot.
Growing up with a drive-in theater is a rare treat these days. It was disheartening when the one I grew up with as a kid closed. When I learned about the Ocala drive-in, I had to check it out. Its been my favorite theater since. After meeting my wife and having several kids, I now bring my family here to enjoy this classic style of moving going. We greatly enjoy the selection and price. The concession stand has agreeable prices and the staff is always pleasant. If the weather isnt the most agreeable, they are agreeable to a rain-check ticket.2 movies for a cheap price. Ill make the drive every time to see the latest movie.
Sucks and simple unless your going for the flea market inside
Gmo owners are not nice people will not go back
Owner doesnt put up with peoples BS. Fantastic drive in.
Never been to Ocala. I live in Indiana. I saw a screenshot of this guys review answers on Facebook. Just read every single one star review and laughed for 30 mins. Place sounds awesome. Owner sounds hilarious.
Great night and clean bathrooms! .... Only problem is for people to wear masks and enforce the policy when it is a requirement!
Fun place to go we really had fun here. Thank you to Tom for helping us out! Got us all set. I think he is the manager or owner.
I dont like the drive in as much as I did when I was little but its kept up well.
One of the last drive inns left.
Love going to the drive in theater. Weve taken a couple grandchildren there & they think its such fun to watch a movie from the car. This one offers 2 movies for a fair price.
Ocala Drive-In is the perfect escape during the time of Corona. It is possibly the only theater currently operating in the United States. It is a throw back adventure well worth taking.
Limited candy selection. Extremely long wait time for concession. Food quality was good, but even showing up nearly an hour early wasnt enough for wait time for concession. Better time managment..
Went to the horror night as my first experience for the drive-in. The movie started about 20 minutes late, the movie sucked and food was horrible. I feel like it may have been a bad first impression and I still see potential for the future. We plan on returning when a better movie is playing, but definitely bringing our own food.
Great place for kids. Also for big kids my age,72. Everything you could want at a theater: junk food (high quality), TWO movies, cheesy commercials including the ones that tell you to buy their stuff. Which is something you really want to do. We dont want to lose this gem. Try getting a family of 4 out of a sit down theater under $70.
1st time going. It was okay I guess!
Fantastically priced movies. Fun experience. The concession stand has some good deals and foods that everyone enjoyed and they are not too expensive either. Overall its clean. Has plenty of parking. No one seems to be up to any funny business. Now that its cooled down there are no bugs. A recommendation, bring a small battery powered radio, blankets, bug spray, flash light, and lawn chairs.
Started with Low (realistic) expectations, its a drive in soo. ...didnt set the bar too high. Sorry To say it was worse than a power outage with your mother in law. Food...barely qualifies as food and Im ok with anything above what I give the pups...so take that how you will. Over sold tickets were a thing, long story there. Announcer ....well, mouth full of cheerios at best. Garth brooks concert to start at 930...had the worst Elvis wannabe...trademark calibur awful, needed ear plugs at a concert, the irony there. Then some no name till 1030. The 100 bucks wasted isnt nearly as disappointing as the entire experience.
