Nice trails and beautiful view but none of the fountains work. Was probably once a elegant garden to go to but the city has not kept the lawns and fountains in good condition. Still a nice place to go.
This park is a great place to bring dogs. There are two fenced-off dedicated dog play areas that always seem to have dogs there, and lots of surrounding trails with steep hill to get your dog a nice work out. Bring your pent up dog here, take it for a nice walk, and then to the dog park. Lots of picnic tables too. Make a day of it and have a nice picnic. One thing I do not like is all the garbage lately. If you are sleazy jerk who likes to leave garbage all over the place, please dont come here. Trash up your own neighborhood.
First time hiking here. Many monuments that I didnt get to see you closer, good views. Send to be a popular spot for mountain biking
Nice trails, some peaks at the bay if you get up high easy parking.
Ok I gotta be honest, I have been here before but not to this part of the park. I went to check out their amphitheater and was amazed by how beautiful the area was, I knew it was there but had never visited. It was built pre WWII in 1941, I hope to see the waterfalls flowing but not sure if the do or will again . The trails around the amphitheater could use some serious work, the dog park could use some work but there is some nice areas to hang out and picnic and great My.Biking Trails as well as horseback trails I just wish they could dedicate some trails to Mt.Bikes Only.
Had an awesome time here with my family! Great place to hang out, picnic, take a hike, and photo opps. Will be going back again very soon, given the weather treats us well.
Havent explored all of the main trails yet. So far though, its a great park. Redwood trees and shaded areas. I do notice the trails can be more on narrow side. Very enjoyable.
It smelled so fresh! It was like walking inside a fresh mint! Just amazing!
Beautiful place to visit. Great walking trails. Very pretty to walk along the river.
Everything well worth the money my partner loves penguins and made her dream come true stroking one an feeding them…I thoroughly enjoyed the show on the birds parrots owls etc great day out.
Its a good mix of public park with lots of open space, as well as public park with lots of trails that go into the woods.Parking may be difficult though. I see a lot of glass on the street where cars have been broken into. Dont leave valuables in your car!
Great place for mountain biking, trail running and stair climbing! Some parts have steps cut in and are pretty steep but the challenge is well worth it! Most of the trails are in the shade, so that is nice! The picnic benches at the top are not shaded but still look just fine.
This park is gorgeous, its huge and all of the scents in the atmosphere of the forest is just purifying. I have asthma but I always enjoy hiking here because of the clean fresh air. Ive never encountered anyone rude here and I love that the public restrooms are well maintained. Also if you havent noticed, the lady bug life there is just exquisite, such a site to see!
Great place to hang out, picnic, take a hike, and photo opps. Will be going back again very soon, given the weather treats us well.
The best park in the East Bay. Beautiful redwoods and views of the bay. Because of this it can be crowded but none the less still a great park.
Good view of the city. Parking is terrible and access road is disintegrating. A long uphill drive. Not for the faint of heart.
Great for children with additional needs, very friendly helpful staff in the reception and cafe!
Beautiful trails but be careful of break ins. the ground next to the cars is littered in shattered glass. Id hide any valuables in the trunk or somewhere hidden.
Great variety of local mountain bike trails and a nice redwood forest, great for biking or hiking alike.
So many easily accessible trails! Beautiful views of SF
Awesome place if you wanna hike or mountain bike!
Love this park! Pretty well kept and more activity options.
Absolutely gorgeous Redwood forest with plenty of hiking and so much to explore. Finding parking was of no issue, plenty of it! Definitely recommend if you want a quick escape from the City!
Nice trails rather close to the freeway. Easy access to beautiful trees and moderate trails.
Nice hiking spot very relaxing and a great view. Lots of shade so it doesnt get too hot
The bay area never ceases to amaze me, the beauty hidden beyond the turn of a road and the twist of a trail. JOAQUIN MILLER, not only is it fun just to say the name outloud, it is even more fun to learn a little history of the area before you take a stroll, jog, clip a pace, toss a ball for your canine pal, breathe deeply, study the old growth of the wide variety of plants and stop to take in the local geography from valley to valley over what seems to be endless rolling hills of splendor. Give yourself plenty if time to explore the variety of areas J.Miller has to offer. Be sure to bring water, snacks, doggy waste bags, and dont forget to pack it in and OUT too.
First time here and my truck got broken into. Seemed to be a nice area but when driving up and down skyline Blvd you can see the piles of glass on the sides of the road from all the vandalism that happens. Oakland should try to have more of some type of patrolling along that street.
Good maintained trails. Cant beat it for 10 mins away from my house
Great trails. Did some mountain biking with a beginner. Good opportunities for all skill levels.Park is very busy. Go early if crowds bother you.
Terrific park period expensive trails. So much to see. But unfortunately on this visit it was closed due to recent fire threats
That people who stole my truck think thats a great place to strip a truck
Always great not only for us, but especially for dogs! Beautiful and clean!
A nice stroll among redwoods without having to travel far up north. The trail can be done by anyone: humans, young humans, dogs, bikers. It seems like its popular with mountain bikers; they seem to do the trails counterclockwise. There are some spots you can catch a good bay view, but most of the time the trees are blocking. This is a good park to introduce people to hiking.
Wonderful to go for a run around this area!
This review is solely about the mountain biking there. Its pretty decent, make sure you go to the lower areas.
Is a shame that such a beautiful place get such bad rep due to theft... Make sure not to leave anything valuable on your car.. It is a beautiful park, nonetheless..
Because of Covid it was not crowded. The stairs are a beast. Get your body moving@@@
Its a great place to go for a beautiful view of the bay!
One of my fave local parks with a great network of trails for both mountain biking and hiking. Some of the trails are like deep Forrest umbrellaed with tall redwoods. Its hard to believe that this park is so close to a major city.
Jaquine Miller park is a very fun place to be for the family bicycling hiking playground stairs running its quite a nice place
Sequoia Bayview trail is fantastic. We share the road on weekend with bikes :) Places on the side are perfect to have a picnic. Its a loop, great for families. Mild difficulty.
Always love this place. Great view of the bay, awesome place for a picnic. Decent bathrooms, and a wonderful place for a walk amongst the trees and view, with a healthy set of stairs to climb if you desire. Multiple fountains, sometimes theyre full and running, sometimes theyre not. Childrens playgrounds and ball field as well. This place has it all on the edge of Oaklands hills..
Great park with lots of trails and beautiful scenery. There is also a small area for dogs to run around without a leash. Public restrooms are available. There is a nursery for plants on site as well. Amazing views of the bay. Highly recommended!
This place has some beautiful secluded trails that go deep along the creek bed. I love it in the winter for mushroom hunting (photos only). Interesting historical buildings, too. Great spot to catch a performance in the summer with the family!
95 degrees in Sacramento today, 68 degrees in JMP. Thats all I need to know!
Came here for a photo shoot at sunset and it was legit. Not too busy and nobody bothered us with our light setup (except for one lady doing dance karate? up and down the steps.) She was cool though she was really feelin herself and her dog was dope.
East Bay mountain bikingA little small, but local with some good technically downs
Love it here but since the last two years, I have seen it get packed with a lot of people making it Very hard to enjoy the peace and quiet of the, with all the bikes and people looking for parking all of a sudden ? Especially on Saturdays and Sundays. Not a good place to go on the weekends.
Its very nice to walk surrounded by the trees.
Beautiful trail. Real nature close to home. Lots of trail bicycles over the weekend.
Good but its hard to find all the bike trails
Amazing place for feeding yourself from nature
So many beautiful trails.
Peaceful! Beautiful views and clean trails.
There are plenty of trailheads and trails within the park that lead to majestic redwood trees and beautiful groves. Dogs are better leashes for their own safely. Mount bike trails intermix with hiking so it’s best to go during well-lit hours or one may be at risk of collision with a cyclist. My dog lives to be off leash in the grove, but again, be careful of the cyclists. Access can be found as low as from Mountain Blvd, midway along Joaquin Miller Road and up top from Skyline Blvd.
Great views and excellent trails overall
Quiet, peaceful, beautiful!
Too many bikes, no good view
Nice respite from the city with lots of trails. Cross Skyline and find the Camp trail to access Redwood Regional Park...and more trails
Nice place to hikeWatch mounted bikesGood in the sun days lots of shade
Beautiful scenery, smells of red wood trees. Great for walking.
Awesomeness... We had a great Hike
Quiet place to enjoy nature except misquitos at dusk!
Great park with many trails to choose from, easy to get to and plenty of parking. Would highly recommend it.
Beautiful park with redwoods, many trails and a nice view of the city.
My grandma Nana turned 100
Great hikes going thru redwoods and eucalyptus trees with lot of shade
This is a beautiful park that is quickly getting overrun by mountain bikers. They ride fast down the trails and generally have no concern for anyone but themselves. I love the hiking in this park but the mountain bikes have to go!
Beautiful area. Easy access to parking and trails. It’s a great option if you want to get out of the city for awhile and just breathe and walk for an hour or two.Lots of ppl walk their dogs off leash here so keep yours on leash if it can’t handle that temptation.Grounds are kept clean and free of trash.
Big & beautiful. If you explore enough there so many great places. Theres even an off-leash dog trail. The redwoods are great way to hide from the heat in the summer and in the winter its graceful & just as beautiful. I took some photos for my brother and sister in law, and it turned bout really nice
Super fun park to ride your mountain bike lots of trails for all different levels beginners to advance technical trails. I love it. I make time to stop by once a week to stay in shape. Cant beat the views over the bay. Bring plenty water. Some narrow trails at the bottom part but still okay for a bike to go through. Mostly shaded areas but do bring sunblock during summer.
Crumbling victorian opulence and beautiful trails.
Views of San Francisco Bay Area on a clear day are spectacular. You can see both the Bay Bridge & Golden Gate Bridge and downtown San Francisco. The working goats in the Meadow are so cute and definitely worths the extra walk.
One of my favorite spots in the bay, although there has been a surge in mountain bikers over the years and it makes it rather difficult to enjoy with your dog.
Nice hiking trails, some more adventurous than others but also great workout
Beautiful trails. Great place to work out!
Very scenic, quiet and nice place for hiking
Beautiful day walking the trails.
Lots of trails in a well-shaded, verdant redwood forest. Good for running or biking as well, but the trails tend to be a bit narrow and claustrophobic. There always seems to be a lot of people here regardless of the time or day, but because there are so many trails, you do have the opportunity for some solitude.
A trip back in time when big redwoods were common.
This park is great. But they are too many people and lots of cyclist.
My daughter got bit my an adult black legged tick today! watch out! Well get it tested for lyme disease I hope but beware!
A good place to walk or bike among the Redwoods.
Georgous redwoods and good challenging hike
Favorite place so many cool places and things to do.
Need to work done.
Very nice!
Great place to go for a walk in the trees.
Great park for people and their pets. Nothing better than a huge park to walk in with great views. Has 2 wonderful dig parks as well. Very convenient location with parking.
I did a short trail, around 5pm to watch the sun go down. It was beautiful, well worth it, bring a flashlight for your way back.
