Our kids always enjoy this museum. There’s a modest sized water play area (the energy lab) that you will want to visit last in case they get wet (also helpful to bring a change of clothes and shoes). Next to this is the under 36 months area for small kids that is endlessly entertaining for small kids with a bus, treehouse, slide, boat and more. There’s also an infant area in this space. These areas are next to the bathrooms and near the entrance. On the other side of the cafe there’s several exhibits that sometimes change. Currently there’s a TV video area, giant light bright, construction, drums, emotions, a marble maze and a couple other things. Down the hall there’s a dinosaur exhibit with digging area and play nest along with animatronic dinosaur. Across from this there’s a space exhibit on Apollo. The last area is the media area with the touch floor, lights and sounds. There’s a great room for parties and lots of outdoor areas as well (playground and a light maze right now). Near the entrance there’s a Rube Goldberg machine. They also have a teacher resource area by the entrance with lots to do. It’s open to the public many times when events aren’t happening. The cafeteria tries to have healthy options with fruit, yogurt, and baked fries and breaded chicken. You can also bring your food. There are fun little touches like a kid door at the entrance that our kids love!

What an amazing place for kids. This place was perfect for our 2 and 4 year old. The water area is perfect where kids can just the right amount of wet playing with different “energy sources”. The building area was great and the kids emotions area was really well thought out for real engagement with the kids. There was a huge arts and crafts area that was stocked with great activities. Highly recommend the for a least one trip with the kids.

The staff at the door was very friendly and there were plenty of staff throughout supervising each room. The food and coffee in the cafe was nice and reasonably priced which was nice and my son had a great time splashing in the waterworks area and finding plenty of toys to stay occupied. Excellent way to spend an afternoon learning and having fun.

This is an impressive interactive science museum for kids. But its also over-priced. Charging adults and kids both full price as a charity but no financials available online and poor employee reviews on glassdoor (most staff also seem to be volunteers)...I just hope the major donors are reviewing senior exec salaries.

Very nice place.... kids loved visiting.... we are not even from this area and we were very welcomed here. Highly recomento. There are a lot of different activities for all ages... all dahs of te week. A little expensive if you’re going there for one single visit but it’s defiantly worth becoming a member. Plus you get t go to a lot of other museums for free, if you are a member. Anyways... it’s worth it...

This place is amazing and weve become members here and got the membership that allows us to bring guests.Beats any other childrens museum weve been to.Great for a wide range of ages.Tons and tons of activities. Sub areas where you can spend hours if your kid is interested in specific things. Exhibits are engaging and tons of fun. Science is encouraged, art, reading, pretend play all on hand. They do have some rotating exhibits too but after coming a bunch of times, I dont think well tire of anything anytime soon. As our kid grows, her interests keep changing and that keeps it fresh as well. The one-off visit is a little pricey, but doing a membership is a total slam dunk and very reasonable if you come back a few times.People are friendly and helpful. They do have a limited food service area and offer a good range of stuff, even if you kid has some allergies. You are also able to sit down with things you brought in so its easy to supplement with what they have too.Laid back and fun. Good for different energy level family members. We love it and will keep being members!

My kids are 1.5 yr old girl and 3.5 yr old boy—-the kids enjoyed their time here. They enjoyed the water section energy lab and trucks/building, outdoor playground ... it is $15 per person. we were there for 3hours, played a lot. I have been to other kids museum and I think stepping stone museum can improve their exhibits tremendously . maybe build a pretend kids area? kids always loves that. ️

I have two toddlers and came here for the first time today. It was BEYOND a hit. I love all the little details that have been thoughtfully added to the space to make it extra special. As a parent and preschool teacher I cannot begin to tell you how amazing it is. So much freedom for kids to touch and play and move around. Really really great place. I can’t wait to bring them back.

Amazing playspace for a wide range of ages from a few months old to pre-teens (there is a designated pre-walker section where newborns can crawl around which I would have loved to have had when my baby was younger). There are different sections, including a covered outdoor section, where the kids can explore and is a fun, hands-on, educational place. Highly recommend, if you have kids!

Always a great place to spend a few hours. Have been going since my youngest was 1y/o now she’s 4&1/2 and still enjoys it. The membership is definitely worth the money. Pays for itself after like two visits. The food they sell is good and healthy. But you can bring food and snacks with you and it’ll save you some money.

We arrived at 9.40 on Saturday morning and the front desk lady didn’t let us in until 10am because it was a member-only morning. I understand she followed the rules but she could at least let us go to the cafe or go use the bathroom. She told us to wait 20 minutes in the coat room. Imagine holding a 2 year old from entering the museum. Very disappointed. There was no sign saying about the member-only morning.

I am giving it 3 stars because the place is great and so much fun. But the other 2 stars that I am not giving it is because the food was so bad that even my whole family got sick. and I thought since it was $30 for two sets nuggets and fries and small container of watermelon the food was gonna be good but NO it wasnt. Please do something about this, and then you guys can have 5 stars.

The annual passes are not worth the fee. After a couple of visits it becomes boring for a 4 year old. The visiting exhibits are a few and long between, not to mention sparse. We took our 3-year old grandson here last week and found the place short on activities to engage him. The water exhibit was a highlight, and the outdoor play area was a close second. However, the exhibit about feelings seemed too politically correct for our liking, and a complete yawn to him. We found it difficult to engage him in the healthy lifestyle exhibit, too. The construction section really had nothing for kids to do. I can see where this might be a good alternative rainy day activity, if you can stand the crowds. But the cost is high, and I am not convinced that a child with a water table at home wouldnt learn just as much there as he would at this museum. Also think it would be more fun to come with a friend or two.

The concept of this museum is fabulous but it falls short. The toddler exhibit was lacking. The play equipment was filthy. The light blue foam blocks used in the open outside play area were black with dirt. The water area had green algae growing in the pipes and the whole lobby, water area and toddler area smelled strongly of mold and mildew. The cafe had very few choices and for a museum about science and learning about self had horribly unhealthy options for lunch. The only positive I can say is that after buying a membership upon arrival - they refunded it when we left!

I made the mistake of accompanying someone here. for such a new building, the lobby smells strongly of mold... which was a stark contrast from the ancient places ive been to. the amount of misinformation or meaningless bits of information really took the cake, though - they do a disservice to the young mind. i hope no family gets fooled into thinking that there is anything truly educational about this place. you would be better off visiting a library. it is like being in a noisy bazaar with some cheap thrills around the corner but nothing actually worthwhile to spend time on. for a somewhat better alternative, visit the nearby aquarium (that has far more water but a lower amount of fungal spores) in Norwalk or the childrens museum in Stamford (which is only worthwhile if you go to a good exhibit, hike, or visit the farm). i hope they improve after this review.
