Small natural park that is an easy 20 minute walk. Several placards giving info on some of the flora and fauna. Really enjoyed the one about the dead tree. Not a real go to location but a great place to stretch your legs in a natural environment.

Beautiful preserve... Couple picnic tables at the entrance to the mini-ring so pack a snack... Mini-ring is great for a quick walk, bike ride, handicapped accessible... Was looking forward to hitting the main trails but its the rainy season and they are underwater, at least the mile and a half to get back to them is... Have to venture back when its dryer... Primarily these trails are for hikers & horseback.. Bicyclers this is not the place for you...

Nice short loop trail and bridge through marsh area. Nice view of wetlands. Couldnt explore hiking, horse trail as it was still flooded in various areas.

Really enjoyed the preserve, very nice, its just so small. Half-mile path, dog friendly, very nice, with cool walkway across the pond. Its just over too soon! Love the auto gate when you leave.

Great nature trail. Look for the trail with grass or moss. It is so quiet once you get past the zone where you hear 41 traffic. There are shady areas, and sunny areas. Lots of bird song. There is also a short walk with crushed shells (which crunch noisily with every step), and a boardwalk. The trail through the open field is fabulous. Bring a bottle of water, and wear bug spray. You will love it. Take a picture of the map before you head out, it is very easy to get lost IMHO.

Amazing place to walk and exercise but you have to have a lot of energy to walk because somedays you dont have a lot of energy and you get tired pretty fast. But if you are a energetic person this would be a really good place to go and exercise and theres horse trails of. You like to ride I have never been done them but they look like fun!

Very cool walking trails! My pups loved it! Some tree cover and its well maintained. There is a lot of sand on some parts of the trail but its not as bad as some other trails Ive been to.

The course was great, the conditions were great but there was a cart git thaw as s a complete jerk. I am handicap and i need assistance sometimes. The guy was extremely rude & talked down me. He was purposely talking to me like i was a five year old.I will not be recommending this place to anyone

Beautiful hiking loop around a pond. Mostly flat. Have found that lower sections can flood after heavy rains. Saw a variety of birds including limpkins, ibis, herons and a bald eagle! We also saw a pair of sandhill cranes with their chick (picture #5)No restrooms, no fee to park. I am 90% sure dogs are not allowed. There are a few alligators in the pond so be safe.

This quiet, little hidden gem had me on my toes! Being a visitor with zero alligator, bobcat or feral hog knowledge I was a little nervous. But the most wildlife we saw were turtles & fish in the pond, a few birds and as we were leaving we heard a commotion that we guessed were the feral hogs.

Great place for hiking. Lots of different trails for all skill levels. Saw lots of wildlife like a snapping turtle, tiny frogs, beautiful eastern lubber grasshoppers, snakes, bunnies, and lots of different types of vegetation. Perfect for bringing dogs, even kids. They leave a little plastified map inside the little wooden box at the entrance that you can take with you during your hike and give back once youre backI had a great time!

The short loop trail has a hard pack walking path and partial boardwalk. There is partial shade on the trail and an observation blind, but during dry season there is usually no wildlife to observe. At the trailhead there are restrooms and a large paved parking lot with ample room for quite a few horse trailers. The separate horseback/hiking trail is not as well maintained and goes for about two miles where it joins several trails extending over twenty miles. Overall a pleasant location for hiking or riding.

The trails are wide, flat and well marked. The longest trail is 9 miles long. I would have appreciated an occasional bench for rest.

I entered the Preserve from the parking lot on Route 41. (There are restroom facilities here.) I walked the handicap accessible loop and went out a ways and returned on the Horse Hiking Trail. Both are easy walking and the loop can handle wheelchairs with ease. Found plenty of photographic opportunities but understand that I consider an opportunity to be anything that I think will make a good print. Saw a cardinal and a catbird from a distance while the flora offered better opportunities. I would guess that the chance for larger birds would be greater when not so dried out. According to the brochure there are more than 20 miles of trails and I think I will enter via the Lost Lane Connector the next time.

A nice walk with your dogs tucked in between trailer parks in North Fort Myers. Designed with a water marsh for birds,, dry during non rainy season, with a bird observation hut and board walk in some areas... and plenty of wild hogs tracks and rut holes.... but usually only seen on occasion in the front section... Most of the back property is for horse back riding and conditioned trail walkers, and if we are in rainy season,, dont even attempt the back by walking unless you know what you are doing, horses and hogs keep the ground torn up and huge mud holes are plenty... There are nice rest rooms, and very well kept Preserve..This Preserve has a lot of potential to grow.. it would be nice to have the dog walk and nature trail to be added to into a figure eight to keep it interesting.. right now it is a circle and can be boring if the birds are hiding in the middle of the day... But, always well worth a stop to see...

This preserve has limited access and you must plan more than a couple hours to see much if you are walking. The initial walk is over 1.5 miles to access the remaining trails and we found little remarkable thereon. Be sure to bring lots of water as most of it has little shade. We visited in February and found multiple wet patches requiring careful footwork. There is one small 0.5 mile circular path from the parking lot if you just want to stretch your legs.

Ran into water. Had to double back, took observation path. Then dRove to lost lane entrance and walked in. Some Sandy loose areas, horses travel this trail and keep trail little loose at places. Ran into water but found log to bridge across. Behind water plant some high pitched sounds. Good distance in Sun, little shade. Made it to Bridge.

Another reviewer says this is 11 million dollars wasted. I guess he would rather see condos or another Town Center. The preserve boasts the longest and most secluded trails in the immediate Fort Myers area. Most come for the boardwalk, but the 12 mile loop hike is the way to do it. Go in the dry season for the best experience, otherwise prepare to wade. Either way, it is an adventure worth having.

Excellent place to come out during dry season. Its unfortunate that rainy season practically floods all of the long trails. Also, out of my many times coming out here, hardly any wildlife spotted which stinks. If you enjoy a quiet place to go hiking and testing your endurance on long trails though, not a bad spot at all. Came here 4 or 5 times now. Im thinking of making this Preserve my home hiking spot and becoming a volunteer.
