Very clean and neat campgrounds. The camp host were very friendly. They made sure everything was OK throughout our stay.
Went out to our favorite spot out at Thunderbird today 7-22-19 & there was SO MUCH trash on the beach area & grass area. We were there only ones swimming this evening so we had the swim area to ourselves. So we noticed the trash so we started picking it up & making a pile because we didnt have any bags with us too place the trash. We found tons of beer cans, pop cans, water bottles, shirts, shoes, goggles, lots of lids, pieces of candy wrappers, lots of plastic bags, dirty diapers, even found a snorkel and barbecue tongs. It makes you really sad to think that people just leave stuff out everywhere like that when there is lots of wildlife that use this area as well. We were worried about the birds eating the trash and getting sick and dying so we picked it up. Next time youre at the lake dont be lazy and pick up your trash. If two 8 year olds and a 4 year-old can figure it out Im sure everyone else can to. Do your part. We also picked up all the life jackets that were just left everywhere to float off. Those are there for people to use as safety devices that are free for people to use you would think the least they could do is hang them back up when theyre done. Thanks.
We decided to go camping last minute and drove out here from OKC on a November weekend. There were very few other campers and we had a large area near the lake to ourselves. We picked a campsite with some good trees for hanging hammocks and we were set! The campground host and her husband were very friendly and personable. Can wait to go back!
Could have been a bit cleaner since they charge you to park after you rent a space to camp. Would be nice to see them establish the beach areas better and grade the lumpy areas of grass out..
Growing up in Norman it has always been a little escape just east of town. With great fishing walking and bike trails swimming, picnic areas and boat rentals.
Had a really good time. Need more lake patrol. To many close calls with jet skis close to the swimming area at little age sites
It was great so many spots to tent for you Rv, camper, tent, or you can even rent spots by the beach for any sort of meet-up. One down about it is the cold water in the showers did not work. So if you have a sunburn like I did I advise you wait till you get home other wise I was pretty happy with it!
I loooove this spot! Quiet, not too many ppl, and a good size swimming area.
We have really enjoyed going! Water feels great! Good place for a fun day with family or camping!
Well kept. Ten dollar charge for parking in certain areas.
It was nice and quiet, I wish I didnt work on weekends
The park is really nice and the camping spots are nice as well. I am not sure why you have to use quarters for the showers. I have never seen that until I came to this state. I am not sure why a decent shower is not part of the price you pay for your camping site. If that doesnt bother you then the camping is great.
Amazing lake will definitely be coming back with the family soon!
Camping here is what you would expect given that the common nickname is Dirty-bird. The tent areas were very rowdy, but the RV site with electric were much more tolerable.I do wish that the bathrooms had soap or hand sanitizer. They were passable otherwise.
Its just okay we stayed awhile but had to cut tree limbs on almost every spot tried doing laundry floor was full of ants that was very inconvenient ..Henry does the best he can to be running things by himself
So beautiful and peaceful. Very nice beaches.
We came to the little axe side and we werent disappointed. They have specialized tent sites with level pads that are graveled. (Thats the only downside, because its hard on the bottom of you tent) I would bring padding or air mattress. The sites each have grills/ fire pits, with easy beach access. Big day use area with playground for the kids with day use swimming area. Definitely a family friendly place with an great atmosphere. Definitely gonna be going my back.
It is beautiful and a nice place to go
Nice little area for swimming and cooking out.
Lake is awesome people were awesome reservations making was a pain but worth it
Good time and place for some relaxation.
Its a pretty lake when its not packed but they need to mark the shallow water areas so another person doesnt ruin their boat motor
Lots of trees. Not busy.
This is a nice place to visit with family n friends
Great family friendly lake.
Stayed for the weekend in the rv camping area, found a spot with a nice view and not right next to someone else. The stay was great and peaceful. The scenery was nice. I would say it was quiet but the closest neighbor was having a party, so there is that. But it happens. The bathrooms are semi clean and pretty centrally located. We went for a walk and the only issue that we found was on the swim beach area, so much goose poop it was ridiculous. But other than than the stay was great. Highly reccomend.
Beautiful view.
The cost to get in and park is $5. If youre wanting to sit under a pavilion, a family size pavilion with 2 picnic tables and a grill cost $25 for the day. The facilities are decent. They have bathrooms with showers and a playground for kids. However, the lake waters were high because of flooding and the water was full of mud. The shores smelled of literal poo (I even heard kids playing in the lake say that the water smelled like a stinky diaper) I didnt really get in the water but my boyfriend did and he said that, while the water was dirty, it was cool and felt nice.
Very nice park! Spacious, family oriented with tons of electrical outlets for cooking and grilling foods. The water on the lake is actually blue
Not able to have a cookout or bon fire while fishing only if your in a camping spot and not a lot of private areas
Love to go camping here always nice. Little axe is the place to be there is a entry fee the fee is included if your camping i think its 5$ if your there for the day. but the beach is nice and kept up
Clean, good amount of space between tent sites, bathrooms and shower stalls close to sites. We went camping for the first time as a complete family. (We took our puppy) camp sites are $19 a night. Really nice view of the lake. We had an amazing time. No rowdy camp neighbors. If anything we mightve been the rowdy ones, our 2 toddlers really know love screaming like psychopaths when they let loose. Definitely will be going back. Highly recommend.
Lovely clean beautiful..
It was fun it was definitely dirty
Cant get the stickers under control
My son rented a pavilion for grandsons birthday swim party. Everything was great except you are only allowed 1 vehicle with the pavilion rental so everyone attending had to pay $5.00 to come into the Little Axe camping area even parents just dropping off their kids for the party had to pay $5.00 just to drive in, drop their child then leave.
Love going here with my family for the day or camping
This time of the year there are numerous campsites to choose from. Super clean and the overall campsite is easy to manuever through. The camp hosts are very friendly and helpful. The Little Axe area is only about a 20 minute ride from Norman and we will return.
Some days are diamonds. Today was one. Water was down and more floating grass stuff than usual. But pleasant.
Very clean and beautiful place to visit or to camp out. One place has fool hook ups $27 a night. It cost $5 to just go and look at the sites. This fee is waived for, Oklahoma Residents 62 + and Honorable Discharge Veterans. I picked out several, lots of shade trees. Cement slabs. Other places great for tents at $19 a nightLots of places have electric and water.I am going back to camp. Name Little Axe Campground
Rented the large pavilion for my sons birthday. It was perfect, and was a hit! There are two double grills there, so plenty of grill space for lots of people. We probably had 50 people show up and had plenty of room. It was nice having the lake, playground, and bathrooms all right there. Would definitely do it again.
Very nice little area. Bathrooms could use some updating, but all in all a great place.
I love the place
Perfect camping weekend
Beautiful, clean and safe
Decent place to camp, but if you have an RV youre stacked on top of each other in certain spots.
This is a great place to take your family swimming and also have a cook out. There are camping spots and admission is very cheap.
Nice quiet good place to take ur kids swimming or camping ... very cheap
Power keep tripping out Becker get better power hookup
Little Axe Campground is our favorite place to stay on Lake Thunderbird. It is so close to home so it is very convenient. It is always clean and peaceful. The management is amazing, they are so nice and helpful. See you guys soon.
The park was clean and well kept. The park hosts were friendly, helpful and accommodating. Everything was great....except the weather. But, thats what you get when camping in Oklahoma in April.
I took my Cub Scout pack camping here. The facilities were in great condition and cleaned daily. We had a great view of the lake and a lot of fun camping.
Place is fantastic, plenty of space to park and for the kids to run a muck. 75.00 for 12 hours. Beach in front of pavillion.
Nice place!
Place has too many rules. Im sure its to keep the riff raff out. But there I was.
Very clean and pretty quiet nice swimming area and good clean picnic areas
Good spot to a back and listen to Nature as Ya relax close to home all while just getting away
Clean....family oriented. Kids had great time.
Love to camp at Little Axe
Beautiful clean loved it cant wait to go back
We came to the little axe area....we camped for the first time out there... It was great!!! The sunsets we seen was amazing... We will be going again... People was very nice.. But didnt know that the gates close at 11.. So if you decide to go.. Stay in or you will get locked out!!!! Loved it!!!!
Always good times. You do have to pay to get in but had clean facilities and they keep up with the trash
Dirty bird... Body water
Very clean camping area and swimming area is nice too.
Beautiful Sandy Beach is Jet Boat friendly, not the pink sticky stuff over at Zoom Beach,,,
Great swimming area. Lots of room before it gets deep. Cost $5 per car but well worth it. Free for vets!!!!

Pretty nice place to stay.
Little is a nice place to go for the day.
We had the boys 16th birthday party at the pavilion. We had about 60 people, it was a great time. Bathroom was convienent, shade all day long, & the water was great. We will be back
OU osu game camp fire and friends in the cold awesome weekend

Nice place to camp
Was told first come first serve got here and apparently its reserve only. Smh
I dont like camping on gravel.
Clean. Good area. Best times to go are holiday/weekends.
Lots of fun having great time
Best lake I ever been to
Best place to camp at Thunderbird. Oklahoma needs more dispersed camping though.
Nice and clean love it!
Loved it!!! Spending quality time with family at F.O.T.
Lots of fun. Nice place
Nice places to camp but not natural enough for my liking to man made up
Great camping area. Especially during the weekdays
Nice place to camp.
Great place to stay with an rv or as a campsite. Free showers dont have very hot water and the quarter machine ran out.
Its was nice, clean and peaceful!
Love it
Great camping trip!
Great Lake
Lake was beautiful and clean except for the swimming area. The beach area was filthy and stunk horribly
