The trains was pretty cool, we got to ride on one .
Youll pay between $3 - $6 per person depending on the event. Went on Fathers Day and it was $6 if you wanted to ride the speeder (a track inspection car) that was a fun experience going down and back in the little cart. My 4 year old loved it. Overall just a great place to stop and explore some locomotives and talk with the friendly volunteers. Its a great way to spend an hour or so.
Was great. Has moved out of Forest Park
Its in a sad state right now. It feels like its slowly dying. The train runs in one direction for about 300yrds then goes back. Diesel is poured into the engine using plastic jugs and a funnel. Rarely do you see more than one other family there so combine that with a junkyard of old trains and it feels sad and lonely. If you go once theres little reason to come back - that is, unless you have a toddler. Were here quite often because of his love for trains. Locally, its our best option.Every time I go I expect a sign announcing their permanent closure. Its a matter of when, not if.
While not the biggest or most impressive railroad museum in the country, the Indiana Transportation Museum sports some incredibly unique rolling stock and has very friendly staff. The train rides are surprisingly cheap and, for 10 dollars, you get unlimited rides behind an old EMD SW1. Please keep this place alive; they deserve to keep running for years to come. And years to come has gone. The museum closed down over the summer, and the museum is now gone.
My parents bought passes for the train rides over a year or so. We were never able to use the passes because of all the mess that was created about inspections. My parents paid $170.00 dollars for the passes to only be told that due to the trains inability to pass the inspection process we would not be permitted to use our passes. The passes were to be good for a year. Well that time came and went. After my parents reached ITM they were told that the money would be refunded since the problem with the inspections could not be resolved within the given time. The money was never refunded as promised! Calls are never returned!
This is one of the neatest places in Hamilton County. If you like trians, youll love it. Huge shop where theyre rebuilding an old steam engine. Something to see.
$10 per person but with unlimited rides all day. 15 minute trade ride. Conductor was very passionate about sharing railroad history.
On the day we were there, they were doing a Save the Train event with a few info tents and a radio station doing live broadcast. They were also giving free, short train rides on a caboose and a standing-only open-air railcar. We were also able to view the inside of a few of the railcars, such as engines and a luxury car from the 1940s. Im not sure if this was all available for just the event or not, however.
Disappointed that to do family pictures here they wanted to charge $3 per person, but yet only one train was accessible that day. Not worth the money if nearly everything was unaccessible. Might be worth it if everything was open.
I love Volunteering at ITM. Its a fun place to be and I would hate to see it go.
A true rip off...10$ a person to ride back and forth 2 times maybe A 1000 ft if that...dont waste your Money or time. ..get a tooth pulled youll have a better time.
This is a fun little place to take the kiddos.
Great place if you love trains, I did the Engineer for an Hour event and I had a blast driving the locomotive back and forth down their track.
My wife purchase tickets for the Fishers Polar Bear Express on 11-21 without checking with me on my work/holiday schedule. The event was for the 27th. After checking with me, we determined that we couldnt make it and tried to get a refund on the 23rd (4 days before the event). We were told they wouldnt give us a refund. It makes me curious how many people they have ripped off this way. Buyer beware.
A neat and unique pace to explore old trains. Its a few dollars but worth the cost. They also have train excursions for families.
Nick Baehls sign made the whole experience so much better I will take my kids here all the time this summer for cool train stuff.
My toddler loved this, you go back and forth when you ride the train but it was perfect for his age and he loved walking around seeing the trains
I took the fireworks train this year on the forth and it was worth it great comfortable ride definitely am going to do it again
My Son and I love this place!!! Staple of this community! #savetherails
The train lovers in our family love it!
Sad that Noblesville ejected ITM and took the trains.
Great experience for the kids to look at trains. Expensive rides.
Jason Abbott, dont blame the park, blame your wife for not telling you in advance. The parks not at fault here.
#SavetheNickelPlate EDIT: RIP ITM. I hate Noblesville
Great place to experience trains and history.
Fun train rides for the entire family
