Less than half a mile away from the worst Whole Foods location in the region is one of the BEST hidden gems imaginable! This park is extraordinarily beautiful across all seasons. There’s ample parking across different portions of the park to situate you near your intended activity: trail walk/run, basketball/soccer, and the humongous open field. Just be careful not to drive too fast upon entering and exiting the park, as there’s a considerable bump. The trail is so beautiful and it’s heavenly to the senses: stunning sights with birds flying about and chipmunks and squirrels scattering around, and all the wonderful sounds of nature. There are exercise stations situated throughout the trail, with clear how-to pictures and guides. The trail is very well-maintained with not a single cigarette or bottle or other piece of trash to be found. I wish the trail was better-labeled; there’s random arrows on some trees but with no explanation or any context as to where those trails would lead. But this will quickly become one of your favorite spots to trail run, enjoy nature, experience a respite from the summer sun, and enjoy clean air away from the city.
Nature in the city! Id estimate the park covers 40 acres, and is nearly completely wild forest with a walking/exercise trail, though theres a ball field and dog play field. In spite of its small size, you can get surrounded with primal forest and be isilated from the surrounding city.
We Like this park. Plenty of space for all kind of activities! Number of different fields and even a place to play with your dog. There are NO springs of any kind though :)
Nice little park in the town of Newton.. decent location for photoshoot too..
Amazing trails, with a variety of difficulty and so many different plants and animals to see. Dog friendly, kid friendly, nice wetland trails, work out stations through out the park and on the trails. no pick up sport games allowed during Covid.
Great trails for walking or running. On a hot day, there is a lot of shaded trails that are well maintained and accessible for strollers or wheeled chairs. There is parking access from multiple streets, not just beacon parking lot.
Fun could get my wheelchair around
A fun place for dogs. We love their dog park! Lots of open space with grass. It is not entirely fenced in so be aware of your dogs location.
Beautiful park to spend the day with the family. We had a pleasant time and the kids enjoyed the playground. Not too crowded and well maintained. Large parking lot.
After watching apple’s tv show I try to have a virtual tour about the cold spring park. Look like a real nice place.
Nice park to frisbee or play tennis. 3 tennis courts.
Great park! Nice trail to go with kids
Very nice walk, especially for dogs. It is relatively flat and there is a nice open field for them to run. There are often lots of dogs and their owners in the park.
Quiet place to spend a few minutes.
Really nice walking path! They graded and replaced the stone dust.
While at the Cold Spring with our leashed dog, an official from Newton approached us and told us we needed an off-leash tag to be in the park. We saw him do this to several other people with leashed dogs. Why does a dog on a leash need to have an off-leash tag, which is $100 for a non Newton resident? The takeaway I got is that Newton does not want non-residents using their parks, and will do whatever they can to price people out of it.
Great place for my dogs to play, love to come here just enjoy the day watching them playing.
Yet another fantastic park that this area has to offer. These wooded trails are ideal for running. Bring your four legged friends because off leash dog walking is the selling point of this public space. There are sports fields for soccer or ultimate Frisbee. The streams can get a bit swampy, but that is only a mild inconvenience.
Great park with new nets on basketball courts and free tennis courts. Easy parking too and there is Bush walking trail behind here too that is well worth exploring. 1.5 miles long and excellent for kids. Anything to get the kids off iPads on a sunny day.
Lots of open space and free exercise machines!
Nice little park mostly unused soccer and basketball court during summer. Quiet place to have a picnic or lunch break.
We loved this trail. Dont bring a stroller. Great place to get lost in the woods close to home.
HUGE park, not alot of easy parking, you have to park in the neighborhood and walk there. But it was great once we got inside.
Beautiful
Nice dog park. Wish the dog area was a little bit more enclosed.
Great park. For kids, dog, parents, dog owners.
They have a nice walk in the woods. Only takes 20 - 30 minutes or so.
I love this place. Although watch out for poison Ivy. They are everywhere. The other day I took some of them with a piece of branch from out of the way on the trail.
See the events on there, usually there is a farmers market so far so good
Love this place
Big lawn
Dont go here. Its beautiful, people are friendly its not overcrowded and hopefully it stays that way.
Great park for dog walking. Most of the paths arent paved, so they get a bit muddy in the rain and snow - watch your step.
Cute little forest! Perfect for jogging, walking, skipping, you name it! Great hangout spot for me and my friends.
Wonderful trail through the forest in the middle of the city
Friendly people, great facilities and a pretty clean park
A beautiful place to take a 30 to 45 minute walk in the woods.
A gem. Visit and walk around the loop. Look for an owl high in a tree. Listen to the songs. Year round park to visit. Walk when April underfoot renews and the joy for all of us flowers again with the morning dew. The old will come out to look with their Winters past and their Winters pain and think the best has gone.
Great place to take your dog, very clean and parking is not bad! Friendly dogs /owners. Baseball field next to dog area is great for the kids!
What a fabulous Park and trails!... Very laid-back, gorgeous Park and beautiful Trails... Very dog friendly... Highly recommend!
Great trails, workout stations, and open fields. Great place to take dogs. Wish more people would say hi back to your when walking by.
Huge open grass with a nice track through the woods. Should trust your dog off leash though cause its only partially fenced but its so big that I dont think dogs will want to wander all the way out anyways.
Great place to do some easy snowshoeing. There are smaller trails through the woods that are beautiful in winter. Those trails are about the only way to feel in the woods however, since houses are visible from most other areas.
New exercise trail is very nice.
Wonderful park for a picnic!
Great park for walking or playing Tennis many trails for dogs you can play basketball or even get a softball game going.
Excellent spot to study!
Nice walking trails with exercise equipment along the way. Also has large open spaces, some of which are used as soccer and baseball fields.
I am an avid CSP user and run here 1 or 2 times per week almost year-round. If you park in the entrance lot its an easy 5K loop through the park and out/back on the trail. Lots of walkers and dogs and an easy terrain. You can also explore some of the residential neighborhoods adjacent, listen to the kids at recess at the new Zervas School, or extend the run to Echo Bridge and back for a 5-6 miler. Side trails take you into neighboring streets and also to Four Corners. The fitness stations are holding up decently as well but are generally underused.
Well known walking paths, green area, and dog park. Path has exercise equipment along the way. Busy dog park is not fully fenced in and a run away dog really scared my child when he escaped around the edge. Otherqise beautiful green parkland - just be aware dogs are not fenced in fully.
Beautiful park.
Got great trails for biking, walking, running and work out stations for cardio. Dogs are welcome and really got plenty of space. Soccer fields, baseball field. The farmers market is also there once a year really big turn out for that.
Very cleanDogs are very friendlyOwners are responsible
Pretty great off-leash dog park. Depending on the time of day, there are a few to a dozen dogs at any one tume. Owners bring coffee in the a.m. and chat. There are even chairs and a picnic table if you need a sit. Try going at different times and days to get the lay of this dog land!
Excellent dog park
Nice little park. It was cold but it seems like a cool place with nice trails
Great place to park and catch up on your emails, reading, phone calls, eat. Also has an off leash dig park area
Beautiful
Fun public park. Free parking. Great easy walking trail.
Did my first trail run here 20 min 1.5 miles 90 degrees out not in the shade.
Cleaner park than years ago
This thickly wooded park is a great sanctuary for people and beasts of all stripes, right in the heart of the city.
The park is relatively large. There are four basketball courts, some tennis courts, soccer goals, and a wide open (and bumpy in some places) field to do whatever you want. It also connects to a trail. However be careful in the afternoon/evening during the summer. The bugs come out then, and it can be really annoying to play basketball with bugs flying around your head.
Great trails!
Beautiful Park. Lots of Wildlife.
Lovely neighborhood trail through the woods with wide open ballfields.
Great trails, easy access, clean
Amazing the dogs love it.
A murky beautiful park with vast green and walk paths
Cold Spring Park should be one of the most wonderful off-leash dog areas in the Boston area. And it does have many good things going for it. For example, most times during the day if you want to bring your dog and find other dogs for yours to play with, Cold Spring Park is the perfect place to come. But the bad aspects are: too many rules and regulations regarding the dogs. The neighbors are very unfriendly. And many of the people who bring their dogs set themselves up as rule enforcers and scold others should a dog misbehave. It adds to a fairly uptight atmosphere... Not with the dogs, but with their owners.
Open space with tennis, basketball courts and soccer field. There is a hiking trail deeper inside the park. However the trail is rigid and is not stroller friendly
Easy trail running. nice wide paths. flat, easy on the knees.
Great hiking trails with exercise bars and a hidden off leash dog park!
Been going here since I was a kid best place to take a walk
Dog loves it here. Has everything from fields to trails
Pretty big park with nice trails. There also an off leash dog area.
Beautiful park with large fields, basketball court, tennis court and a walking path with exercise equipment.
Cold Spring Park is a nice place to walk around in the summer. The only problem I have with it is the amount bugs that come with it, but that is a problem almost all woods have.
Great paths.
Great park for soccer, walking, running, or just relaxing.
Best place to ruin
Great park!
So beautiful
Nice
Nice park, can get very very muddy though
