Ocean Drive Historic District

Very beautiful and memorizing trip. Views are very good. Would go there anytime of the day till the time its not raining.

Beautiful views. This 3.5 mile trail is definitely worth it. Make sure you wear sneakers because some of the trail is very rocky. You get to see the back of the famous Rhode Island mansions.

Great place to stop for pictures! Take a buggy, you wont regret it!

Cliff walk was amazing! Peaceful and serene. I assume on weekends this could get very crowded since on a weekday it seemed like lil more people than I expected.

Easy to access but short, just 3.5 miles. Visit only if you are close to it.

I think it was a nice short drive. There are spots along the way where you can park the car and take in the views of the beautiful houses and the ocean. It’s definitely worth driving this route if you get a chance.

Beauty is right before ur eyes on the simple drive. Its amazing to see and feel the ocean. The sites are intense and seeing people having fun the kites and food are just as breath taking

Such a lovely drive, particularly at sunset or sunrise. Places to stop and park. You’ll get to feel the ocean air and hear the waves crash.

Absolutely beautiful especially when sun is setting! There are places to fish just be careful there are a lot of large rocks you may have to climb on/around. Some spots have benches to relax on and take in the view. Definitely would recommend driving along ocean drive! I enjoyed it a lot!!

A drive to remember! What a scenic view, there is space to park.. you can sit on the rock, relax and meet people.. loved everything...Definitely try to drive slow to scope it all out, even though people would tail you, just let them pass. There are few nice spots to pull over and enjoy the breathtaking views and scenery...

Locals and tourists both love this area, miles of ocean front roadway where you can take epic pictures, take in the ocean breeze, or stare are the beautiful ocean.

Great scenic drive past houses you could only afford in your dreams. There are several areas to stop and take photos and should be considered a must when in Newport

One of the most beautiful drives Ive ever been to. Perfect views during sunset. If you are visiting the mansions I would definitely suggest to do the drive to experience some amazing views. Unfortunately there is no specific parking spots so you will have to get in and out quickly if you want to get some pictures.Its a must visit for those looking for photoworthy shots. Its a detour if you trying to leave Newport but its totally worth it.

A beautiful drive and walk. Rhode Island may be small but has plenty to offer. You can see what the American elite called summer cottages but are truly exclusive mansions. Parking is hard to find but you have to get out and walk to truly enjoy this area.

A must do when visiting Newport! This scenic drive is delightful. There are many spots in which to pull over to take advantage of the scenery. Gorgeous homes dot this stretch of road. Its a beautiful drive and quite worth doing during a trip to Newport.

Beautiful views. There s a state fishing area you can fish from the rocks. You need to drive slowly to see all beautiful homes and mansions. Theres also an area where you can park to gaze and picnic. The town or state allow sculptures to be place randomly.If your a camera buff, this a great area to catch many natural and not so natural beauty.

Driving by through ocean drive was amazing. Incredible views everywhere including the mansions surrounding.

Wonderful place to go for a walk, meet new people, and relax. This park is well maintained and is fun for the whole family. Plenty of parking. Definitely coming back.

Towards the end of the day, with the sun setting, we drove through here. The views were pretty cool. It was quite windy this day, so you could really see the waves in the distance.It is a nice area.

The houses and the buildings are very beautiful, especially the rocky bay. Would very much recommend driving through here.

Went here after Newport Jazz FestivalThe mansions are beautiful and their location makes them even prettier.Brenton Point has a monument to stop at. Go slow and enjoy, but people will tailgate you. Ignore. Beautiful when the sun sets and the cliffs make great pictures.

Ocean drive is a beautiful road with places to stop and take in the beauty and of course a picture. You can stop by the Brenton Point park as well as Fort Adams while on this road. The whole trip should not take longer than 30 minutes.

Amazing houses, not something you will see anywhere else in the country

Ocean Drive is what reminds people of how beautiful Rhode Island really is. I visited for the first time this past weekend and the scenery on this drive blew me away! You have the spectacular mansions on one side and the rocky shore on the other. Simply amazing! There are plenty of spots to take photos. One of my favorites was the little rocky cove just past Gooseberry Beach. You have to take this drive if you are visiting Newport so you can fully appreciate how stunning this small state really is.

Stunning views. We rode bikes on a Thursday. Traffic was light and respectful. Might be crowded on a weekend.

Relaxing drive next to the ocean with plenty of places to pull off and walk on the rocks.

One can barely see any ocean from this drive. Depending on what expectations the name Ocean Drive builds on your mind, it is either a pure waste of time or just a well built concrete road. In any condition this has barely any relation to the ocean apart from there is ocean somewhere closer to the drive.

So beautiful, i walked along the cliff walk with the cottages at one side many years ago.

Absolutely beautiful and a favorite sunset drive. Sit at the park have a bite to eat and watch the waves! The pictures you can take here are amazing. After Cliff walk, I would recommend going to this place for a calm and romantic drive! Happy traveling!

Great driving experience

I think I was expecting this to be a bit lengthier. Its mostly just a cruise around homes that you can barely see and a little bit of ocean. Not the highlight of our trip but if youre doing it anyway, try to time it so you can see the sunset at Brenton Point. Youll have plenty of time to finish the drive by dusk and we really enjoyed the view from there.

Amazing winding road to see spectacular varieties of shore lines. Kings Beach is a Great diving spot. Especially late August when the baby tropical fish are up here.Lots of great houses to see and is especially pretty August and again the the Fall.Exceptional parking spots on the right side if you start at the end by the mansions. The entrances arent well noted. Once you see the parked cars on the right, if you didnt enter, go in the Next.This drive will also show you historical wealth and opulence at the mansions. They all have vastly different contents and grounds. Look for specials as well as certain holiday decorations of the mind blowing propensity#RockFromRI

Love d views will go again

In my opinion, I feel like Rhode Island might be a little underrated. People tend to forget about this place because of the small size, but in fact, the scenery here is better than any other drive like this. It has a good view of the whole sea, which personally is the best thing about Historic Ocean Drive. The pictures you can take here are amazing and this is a place that I recommend going to during your visit in Rhode Island. Happy traveling!

Nice drive but dont see much of the ocean. Start at Thames street, continue to Wellington Ave, then Harrison ave, Ridge Rd and then Ocean Ave. Theres a beautiful spot at Brenton Point State Park with some benches.

Scenic drive through the mansions of Newport, RI and along the coast of Newport through a few state parks.

Worth it for seeing all the mansions lined up on the shoreline. Beautiful mix of rural and rich.

Worth doing! Beautiful homes and views of the ocean. U can pick up a brochure at the visitors center and ask about going inside the homes because there is a fee. Google the cliff walk and do that too!
