The insensitivity of the owners is beyond description. They will NOT speak with you over the phone and lack compassion for couples caught up in COVID (see other reviews). We paid them $2,400 over a year ago to hold the venue and the remaining $2,400 several months ago. So they have all our money. My daughter and son-in-law simply wanted to postpone the wedding from October 2020 to spring 2021 due to health concerns related to the pandemic. The owners would rather keep their money instead of working with them on another date. In other words, they get almost $5,000 without lifting a finger and providing a service. How in good conscience can they even think about doing this? It defies logic in so many ways. Just a complete nightmare!!! I thought they were in business to help couples make special memories on their most important day? I guess they have but not in the way we had hoped. Theres much more to this place besides the outward beauty.
Beautiful facility. Highly recommend if youre looking for a wedding or event venue. Its like a secret garden or something out of a story book. Very cool.
Dunaway Gardens is 20 acres. We walked through approximately two & were there for almost three hours. Theres so much to see every square foot & the grounds are well kept. Be prepared to stop a lot & just admire its beauty. There are nooks tucked within nooks, pathways just off well-walked trails that lead to waterfalls & other hidden spaces for you to enjoy.
They treated a relative of mine who was getting married during COVID-19 in such an insensitive and uncaring manner. They took all her deposit money ($5,000) without providing a service at all. All they were asking is for DG to reschedule the date until it was safe to do so (spring 2021) but they would not. They would not talk over the phone and acted as if the money was the main thing. We would NEVER use them or recommend anyone else doing so based on their experience.
UPDATE- It’s been 5 days since my original review. They just informed us they will be opening 2021 dates up to the brides affected by the closure now. We are trying to work with them on a new date. =) I’ve added a star for the extra communication and willingness to accommodate and will continue to update as I continue to work with themThe property is beautiful and we really enjoyed Elizabeth’s cheery hospitality! But something must have changed when Elizabeth left because it’s been nothing but problems since then. After constant misinformation (telling us things were paid and then saying they weren’t, etc) they have really gone down a bad path with cancelling all the weddings this spring. While that would not have been an issue (we completely understand why) if they would let us rebook for next spring, they absolutely refuse and will only rebook our spring garden wedding in August, September, or December. I don’t know a bride on earth who has planned a spring wedding just being okay with settling for a fall/winter wedding last minute. Our wedding is completely paid off so it is not a money issue, all we want is to have the spring wedding we planned for even if it meant pushing it back and we originally booked a year in advance so it’s not like they wouldn’t let us schedule in May if we were new clients. We have received ZERO explanation for this, no transparency at all other than “it’s our objective to rebook 2020 brides in 2020” and they have refused to answer our lawyer’s calls or offer us a refund. I will update my rating when I have a development but if the owners don’t change from the current owner (Jennifer/Krystal) I would absolutely not book with them. The property is gorgeous, it’s just unfortunately in ugly hands.
Booking with Dunaway Gardens was the worst mistake I’ve made in regards to our wedding. We originally planned our wedding for the fall of 2020. When COVID-19 became a more serious issue as the year went on, we decided to postpone our wedding given that we would have several vulnerable family members in attendance. After explaining our situation on the phone to someone at Dunaway, we received an email from the owner telling us that they were not postponing weddings and adhering to CDC guidelines. I asked the owner if we could discuss the situation over the phone but she refused and I spent an hour writing a six paragraph email detailing why we felt more comfortable postponing. Her response: CDC guidelines. It simply deteriorated after this. We felt cheated and trapped by our contract. We pleaded many times to simply move our date but the owner wouldn’t allow it. We have decided to take our business elsewhere, despite losing all of the money we invested into this awful venue. I have never dealt with such unprofessionalism, such a lack of compassion in the midst of an unfortunate circumstance like the pandemic. While our other vendors have been amazing and supportive, the owner of this venue has vowed to put her business before the safety and wellbeing of her clients and their family members. She has done this to other brides as well. How shameful. The entire situation has been nothing much anxiety-inducing for my fiancé and I. Planning a wedding is now dreadful and I can’t even look at my dress hanging in the closet without feeling sick to my stomach. Thank you, Dunaway, for ruining this for us.
These people are the worst to deal with. Not enough words to describe our anger and frustration with them.
Wonderful place to visit. Grandeur gardens from a fairy tale time. A must see for any local or Ga resident. Headed back soon.
My fiancee and I toured Dunaway Gardens this past Saturday. It was lovely, and Krystal was very hospitable and forthright. They clearly explained the plans they had for the future for the facility and detailed the costs involved.
This business has zero compassion for brides effected by Covid 19. A young lady and her fiancee are no longer able to afford their September 2020 wedding due to financial hardship as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. They were denied the opportunity to postpone until next year. Now this bride will lose the money paid to this venue because she cannot afford to finish paying for the venue nor any of the other expenses that go along with planning a wedding. Please do not patronize this business. If they can be so cold-hearted and lack compassion for a bride who can no longer pay for her wedding, they dont deserve anyones business. Afterall, all she wanted to do was postpone, not cancel.
I was very excited and enchanted by this beautiful venue. I am disappointed that we will not be having our wedding there anymore. We booked in August of 2019 for our date of September 13, 2020 and contacted them in March of 2020 when Covid-19 shut down the country. We could only connect with them via email. Any time I would call they never answered. If I left a voicemail, I never got a returning call. Prompt responses varied from several hours (which was unlikely) to almost 3 weeks. This was definitely frustrating as the nature of the emails were time sensitive due to payment arrangements or issues in regards to postponing. My biggest complaint, aside from poor communication, is the lack of compassion. I was not allowed to postpone my own wedding. When I first contacted them, I absolutely refused to postpone as we were going to get married while still complying with CDC and government guidelines. When we were told that they would not refund and said they could not sign anything stating that they would refund us if they cancelled our wedding, we proceeded with a new payment arrangement due to financial difficulties. As things progressed with Covid, financially and in regards to health and guidelines, we had to make a decision that we were dead set against. We did not want to lose any money since they wouldnt refund if things shut down again so we decided to postpone. We approached them again in May and asked to postpone due to financial strains related to covid. They told us we dont foresee needing to reschedule your wedding. Nothing in their contract states that we cannot postpone our wedding. We felt trapped into our wedding date. We felt like they had all control over when we would have our wedding. We werent okay with this. I was upset and stressed out. At this point we reached out to a lawyer and Dunaway never responded. They offered another payment arrangement but with 4 months before the wedding, no payment arrangement was going to alleviate the financial strain as the amount we were going to pay wasnt changing. It wasnt until after I told them that I would be leaving reviews for them that they began to try to accommodate us by allowing us to have a ceremony only for our September date and that we could put the money we have already paid towards the balance. They presented this option to us on June 3rd. We opted out of this option as it is 3 months before the wedding and we had to halt all planning when Covid hit. We couldnt even get the tuxedos picked out or fitted for, book a caterer, do engagement pictures, or buy decor/materials for the wedding. Everything was shut down. There is no way we can financially plan the rest of the wedding that we want in 3 months. We simply needed more time. Brides and grooms, find yourself a planner if youre going to use this venue and have a lawyer review the contract before you sign.
Went to a friends wedding here and got to wander some of the gorgeous grounds! So, so beautiful!
Gorgeous! Wish I had know about this place for my wedding!
Attended a wedding at this location and was very beautiful!!! All staff were very professional and courteous. I would recall for an outdoor wedding. The setting was absolutely beautiful
Went here for my friends wedding. GREAT LOCATION! Beautiful and the staff were very accommodating. Well maintained and a quiet place. Even just to visit.
If you wish you could spend time in Narnia, this is prob the closest thing. I hear Walt Disney used to come here. A lot...
Friend of my got married there nice place
Its beautiful, but very difficult to get around in, especially in heels! Everything is outside, which is miserable in hot weather.
My sister and my best friend have gotten married here. Both weddings were gorgeous and couldnt have been in a better venue. It rained at the most recent wedding-luckily we made it through the ceremony- and the tents kept the rain out really well.
Nice place for a wedding event
EDIT:Originally said - Beautiful garden and looking forward to my sons wedding there! It lives on appearance and garden appeal! I gave it 1 star for the scenery and Elizabeth being very kind! It should be a negative score. What a logistical mess. The owners son over sold everything, promised and promised and didnt deliver! They dont freshly.mulch everything. The tents are dirty and the place is loaded with spiders. Which is evident when you walk in to the bathroom, should have been a tell tale sign.No parking assistance and direction. Everyone was confused on where to park and where to go. You need to plan on someone to direct traffic and people. If you have elderly coming, choose a different location. They say it wont be an issue, BUT IT IS! They offer proximity assistance, thats it! They make you carry your own insurance because of the lack of assistance and how rough it is to get around. It was 34° and they wouldnt close up the tent, and only provided 3 heaters for 150 people!Open bar means a couple beers and bottles at a time. So you chase it.There isnt a good entrance point for the bridal party.Good luck getting in touch with someone, voice mail is full and never got a reply from an email I sent!My son and his wife got robbed of their perfect wedding!!
Absolutely beautiful wedding!
Cool but entrance fee is a bit high
Absolutely beautiful grounds. My fiance and I looked at getting married here and the only downside is that it is not elderly people friendly. We would have loved to get married here but there was no way our grandparents would have been able to get around on the terrace, even with the golf cart pathways.
Dunaway Gardens is an amazing garden well worth a visit for itself. It is a glorious wedding venue, but for anyone interested in the art of the garden, a visit can provide an extraordinary experience. Created by one Lady and rescued from ruin by another Lady, Dunaway is a garden treasure.
Nice place staff up tight
Beautiful wedding venue. Its a little difficult to get around, but there are roads that golf carts can get down. I was surprised by how large the landscaped area was. It provides tons of opportunities for pictures.
Very pretty. Went for a wedding
This is a beautiful venue!!! The gardens go on and on. The staff is friendly and helpful as well. It is hilly but they provide golf carts to move guests around.
My Godson and his now wife were married there. The place is beautiful, historic and times gone by relics like old house fireplace still standing and rustic farming equipment showcases the grounds.
Very pretty grounds! The wedding I went to here was absolutely beautiful!
A beautiful location and perfect for a wedding
The ladies there are SO helpful, really enjoyable to be around and cant wait to have my beautiful wedding there in 2019.!!!!!!
Beautiful place even before spring has sprung.
Such a beautiful oasis! Thank you for restoring and protecting this historic land!

Beautiful landscape. Lovely place for weddings.
