Great park to visit, it’s not a big park but there is a nice campground and a super walk-in camping area with shelters to reserve. It’s right on the river so plenty of opportunities to fish and boat, kayaking, tubing. Nice boat ramp, plenty of hiking trails. Great park office with plenty of parking and restrooms.
Beautiful campground. We got a call at 4:30 stating they were leaving at 5 but wanted us to know everything so when we got there at 6:30 we would be all set, very friendly! The visitor center looked very nice. The camp hosts were very nice and helpful as we were leveling our RV. The only drawback (not their fault) is the drive off the freeway to get there. This did not look like a state park and extremely worth the price. Wish we lived close so we could visit again.
The trails were very well marked and maintained. Very nice forrest hiking. If you want to spend more time walking on the river, drive farther into the park before parking
Spacious park with beautiful trails; plenty to explore over several hikes. good mountain biking trails. good camping. nice boat ramp to access the hooch. standard state park parking fee required.
One of our favorite parks! Very clean and rarely overly packed. The trails are very well marked and they have many camping options. Anywhere from primitive tent camping to RV full hook ups. They also have a hike in/paddle in tent camp site. It’s 5.5 miles hiking or can also be reached by kayak and has a take out spot from the river and steps that lead right to the campsite. These primitive sites are platform style and have a fire ring and a picnic table. There is a privy about 0.2 miles from the campsites. I didn’t see any water spigot so most likely would need to bring all supplies in with you. There is a platform tent camping in the main part of the park as well that doesn’t require a hike in. It has a bathhouse about 0.2 miles from the campsite with regular toilets, sink, and showers. The campsites sit right on the river. There isn’t a spigot at the actual campsite but it’s a short drive from the campsite to the pavilion near the river and there is a spigot located there that you can get water from. The other campsite locations have full water and electricity hookups and are well suited for RV and camper camping. There are also several types of cabins on the property. They have many hiking and biking trails to choose from. The riverside trial also has a tower overlook that’s 1 mile in and many people go fishing around that location. The staff at Chattahoochee bend is so friendly and helpful. They also always have fun activities planned on the weekends for the family like scavenger hunts and crafts. You can also rent bikes from the visitor center. I think you can also rent kayaks but I’m not 100% sure. They don’t allow outside firewood but you can purchase firewood there as well as bags of ice and a few other camping needs.
The staff here is incredible. The campgrounds areclean and well kept. They have many activities year round for all ages. Highly recommend!
This park is off the beaten path, making it a great place to relax where its quiet, yet has so much to offer. The hiking trails are great, winding up and down the rolling hills, some right along the Chattahoochee river also. The wildlife is absolutely beautiful, you will see animals at any time of day. We saw rabbits, deer, bats, and so many species of birds. The campgrounds are fantastic, large level lots with fire rings, picnic tables, and plenty of shade! Playgrounds for the kids at every camping area and at the riverside amenity area. Whether you have an RV or just a tent, this place can accommodate you. The visitor center is beautiful, and has a great selection of items that you might have forgotten. The staff are eager to help out with anything that you have questions about, and will advise you of what is happening throughout the park. If youre looking for a place to relax, pack what you need, and get away to this little gem!
If you park at the back of the park, near the day use area and the boat ramp, then its a quick easy hike to the watchtower. Younger kids love it. The view is great because its near a clearing by the river. As you imagine, the trail follows the river and there are plenty of great spots to stop by the river. The path is super flat and well maintained and heavily trafficked. However, as soon as you go past the tower it quickly gets a bit overgrown and you can tell its the least trafficked part because most people go to the tower and turn around. If you want peace and quiet, go past the tower. Bring bug spray because you get deep in the woods. Bring lots of water because its a long out-and-back.
Quiet campground, respectful and knowledgable staff, super clean facilities. I was very impressed. Gorgeous raw forest. Trail heads could have been better marked and trails needed a bit of maintenance with some dead fall across them too heavy to move by hand, but its winter so thats understandable. So much water ... from the wide and muddy hooch to lovely bubbling clear streams we had to make our way across, to wide expanses of sheets of water across wide rocks we could walk into .. just fantastic. Great for forest bathing with so many various sights, sounds and textures. Im more of a macro photographer so all my pictures are close ups of the abundant mosses and lichen!
Off the busy beaten path. This park had a lot to offer. Very nice park. They have camping and a staffed visitors center. Nice bathrooms at visitors center. Trails are clean and marked. Very nice observation tower that you can have a cozy picnic in. Miles markers so you can see how far youve walked. Good trails for all levels of hikers. Nice playgrounds. The river is beautiful. Peaceful and tranquil. We saw several deer and squirrels. I recommend. We did not camp so I can not say how the camping was.
It’s a great hiking trail, but remember there is a $5 parking + park admission.
Came here today (Sunday Feb 18, 2018 between 2pm -6pm for a hike). As many other reviewers have mentioned, they have all the amenities of a state or national park, including hiking and biking trails, full hookup RV and also primitive (tent) campsites. Plenty of public bath houses. Several different trails with several difficulty levels (the 1 or so mile trail along the river is very nice).Everything is well preserved and the sites are nice and mostly level for many different lengths of RVs.They also have cabins for rent which are very nice and relatively new (within last 8 years). All in all a great visit and highly recommend!
The positive, great walking trails, clean campsites and bathrooms. Park personnel are friendly. More flowers and plants than I see at other parks. The negatives, train is loud enough to wake you up at night. Playground close enough for my kids to see from the road at cabin site is only for cabin renters. Which is much better than the other two playgrounds that everyone else has access to. Fishing is not possible due to the steep banks of river, swift current and overhanging trees.
Nice clean, well kept state park.
Beautiful park. Many trails to hike along, camping, and fishing. Dog friendly.
Great hiking trails...the bike trails are fantastic also...always see wildlife. Everything is maintained nicely
Accessed from the river; not an easy take out. Campsites were excellent! Each site was equipped a wooden platform and a fire pit and they’re nicely spaced out. Clear spot for trash disposal and a proper restroom if needed.
Excellent park, great trails, very clean. The trails were marked wonderfully and the map was perfect. We definitely want to come back to stay in a cabin and try fishing and kayaking there too.
Nice place for day trips or camping. Some short hiking trails. The visitor center has bathroom, WIFI, gift shop. Nice new cabins and a very nice campground for campers or tents. Very nice, taken care of state Park.
Beautiful natural area. Few people. Long hiking trails. Romantic.
Great park, great staff, great amenities, looooooots of biting bugs. Be sure to take bug spray.
We spent the 4th of July and the days following camping here. It was a very nice time. The tent campsites are amazing. Some are set back in the woods a bit, and thats the site we chose. The trees overhead provided the perfect amount of shade to keep the site out of direct sun. The campground itself is gorgeous. So many hiking trails. So many animals running around. The rangers were very helpful and friendly. Our site host was a little overbearing with us. Not sure if that is the normal. But came by very often to check on us. Which I feel was a little overkill. But all in all, it was a wonderful time. We are planning another two visits, one late summer and the other in the fall.I would definitely add this state park to your list when thinking about camping in Georgia
Just visiting. Looks pretty cool. I will camp one night
Adirondack camp site was great, but be sure you have a cart to haul supplies, as the parking lot is a good ways from the campsite
A nice addition to the GA State Park system.
Great state park. One of the best camp sites in Georgia. Large space between each camp sites.....privacy. Bathroom clean. Will go back. Nice trail
Playground for children, walking trail, camping clean bathrooms A pavilion area BBQ grills and many other amenities.
Nice park with a trail next to the river, there are multiple trails but I haven’t explored more. The trail is very beautiful.
So many trails and kept Clean and beautiful. Camping here next weekend!
Very nice, lots of hiking and biking
Took the hiking trail to the back country camp sites for a short weekend. The trail is very nice mostly flat for the first half and gentle Hills on the back half. The camp sites are pretty good and there is a proper bathroom but its a 1/4 mile walk to it from the sites. The river is nice and cool and about the right depth for good playing around. Would go back again, and highly recommend.
Love it. Beautiful views. Nice observation tower.
Very well kept park, bathrooms were spotless and the grounds were beautiful. The river trail was a little muddy, but not much to be done about that, we hiked all the way to the overlook pushing a stroller.
They need more mtb trails. There really isnt enough to make the trip worth it. They had plans for another twenty miles and they never happened.
Really nice park with hiking and mountain bike trails. They have nice camping spots but every weekend on their site it shows no availability yet if you drive through the park is never even half full. Extremely frustrating and nobody there has an explanation other than I guess a bunch of people make reservations and dont show up. WHAT? Unfortunately they have no lake or pool for swimming.
Nice and clean. Very friendly staff
Beautiful Park. Very seculed and well maintained. Friendly staff always helps too!
The river trail is easy and mostly flat. Facilities were in good shape and staff was friendly.
Visited before and always clean and nice. Good place to go camping
Great trails and fun for the whole family!
Great place to go take a hike. Have several different paths from short to long. Also, great places to camp and hook up an RV
Lots of activities for all age groups. We did Meet the Ranger, hiked the short trail & played the scavenger hunt last time.
This is one of the most beautiful and relaxing parks I have visited. The staff is friendly, helpful, and seem to really enjoy their work. Everyone from the managers to the young ladies in the office made me feel right at home and I cannot wait to come back.
Took the River trail to observation tower, very enjoyable hike.
Chattahoochee Bend State Park is a national treasure. The people running the site are very accommodating and they keep the grounds in excellent condition. I went over labor day weekend and was able to clear up a reservation error (totally my fault) with a couple texts and a phone call while I was sitting at the platform. Cant wait to go back!
Just rode over to check out the sites. Very nice and clean campground. Theres nothing around so you better take what youll need for your trip. Office Staff was very friendly and they had a lot of merchandise.
Good location, had a camper, Great parking space. A little cold for my blood, but still had a Great time.
Beautiful camp sight!
Great trails and facilities.
Clean park, nice campsites, gift shop with friendly staff, access to the river, adventure camping back in the woods, and nice hiking trails for any level hiker. Doesnt have as many frills as some other parks, but it is a great, quiet place to getaway from the stress of every day life.
Good park for family camping and adventuring outside of the Atlanta suburbia. Well maintained and clean campsites. Great trails for the kids. Mountain biking trails aplenty. Big brand new playgrounds. Right on the Chattahoochee. Mostly out in the country and quite, though you can hear the distant gas-fired power plant turbines in the background at night. One negative: some of the staff have been pretty rude to my family and I on multiple occasions (acting like Im asking stupid questions, general lack of tact and politeness). The camp host for the walk in tent sites hovered over my family and I like we were about to do something wrong. It didnt ruin the experience, but Id prefer not to be treated that way.
Brown Thrasher Trail is such a fun and diverse trail.
The cabin we rented was awesome! Clean, fresh, comfortable. Screened in back porch, fire pit, charcoal grill, fully stocked kitchen. Even found scorpions, didnt even know GA had scorpions, and surely not in our bathroom. lol
This is a great state park and campground. The facilities are clean and well maintained.
Had a great time and the kids learned about campfires!!!! We will be back!!!
Great place for a short hike. Friendly and helpful staff. Havent tried out the fishing yet but will soon. Beautiful nature spot that has been left natural.
Nice facility, close to home, camping host seemed grumpy when we camped with a group of scouts, basically prejudged our boys before we even set up camp. By the end of the weekend he would not leave and wishes us back soon, I guess we did not act like other groups he has had in the past
The park itself was nice. But it was an uncomfortable visit the local police followed us from 8 miles before the park and through the park until we parked and stayed and watched us by circling around several times staring at us like we were none human. My spouse threw his hand up to speak he rolled his eyes and sped off only to circle back again for a total of 4 times. I would say All peoples of color especially black should be careful and dont drive a mile over speed limit and its super slow speed esp in the park. The male officer of non color was literally on the tail of my car for no reason and wouldnt go around even when there was a break in the road to. That officer should be ashamed and I hope he has many bad days in life for being a bigot.
Labor Day weekend 2018 we loved staying here at Chattahoochee Bend the park was the cleanest state park Ive ever stayed at, the staff was nice and friendly. The river trail was so clean and very shady. It was a beautiful hike along the river. We will be back again for sure!!
Great place for family adventures. Beautiful park that offers cabins, TV camping and tent camping. Wonderful hiking and mountain bike trails.
Our granddaughters 21st birthday and it was nice!!! Nice place will probably go again...
Great trails and plenty of resources. Easy to get some elevation in thanks to the big rolling hills.
Really nice place, and it appears to be new or recently renovated! Nice big cabins, play grounds, very nice pavilions (2 with covered grills) they are near the boat ramp, rv hookups, deck camping, and very nice boat ramp on the Chattahoochee.
Nice new facilities with camping, hiking, Mt. Biking and of course the river. Need $5 cash to park for day.
We really enjoyed staying there when we spoke to the lady on the phone we ask for full hookups in a pull through space we got a nice pull through space but we only had power and water not even a little cable and we had to go to a dump site before we left we were afraid to use our water so we definitely will not stay there again but the park is really nice if you only want Power and Water hookups no extra amenities it is a very clean Park and the employees were great
Peaceful and well shaded riverwalk
Park is beautiful. Sites are not side by side which is really nice. Folks here are very friendly. Very nice place. Highly recommend.
Very secluded and quiet. Camp sites are level and easy to access. You do have to drive everywhere within the park.
Beautiful place. Really enjoyed our stay. Would go again.
Very nice state park with lots of scheduled activities, trails, camping and clean restrooms. I like to run the trails with other members of our local running group.
Great place to get away but not far away!
The park is beautiful and has a great ramp for river access. The trails are very well maintained. It’s not overly crowded either so that helps make it a wonderful place to escape!
Nice, new park! Love the campground--we will be back to do the back country park! My only knack was the fact that they wouldnt rent a kayak to me due to the scattered thunderstorm chance that day. Had to go to a different competitor to rent my kayak. Wayyy off the beaten path so be prepared and have all of your gear and plenty of gas.
Really impressed with the trail network at the park. We were there with a small group of people and a couple dogs and everyone had a great time.
Great place to camp and miles and miles of hiking and biking trails. Also, paved boat ramp and very nice playground.
Great place to camp, nice campsites, lots of hiking trails, nice helpful staff.
Fun place with a lot to do. Love this place
You cannot find a better place than this for a million dollar Oxygen. Go explore and have fun!!!
Great staff. Nice place to visit.
Lovely State Park. Quiet. Camp hosts are awesome. Very clean bathrooms and laundry. Lots of pull thru sites. Highly recommend.
Great place, nice hiking trails, and plenty for the kids to do.
Great State Park campground. Staff in the office are very friendly and helpful.
Large and clean not too crowded at all
This is a very well maintained state park. The bathrooms are extremely clean and the people working at the visitors center were very helpful.
We rented adventure cabin # 2. Price was $150 a night. The check in process was hindered by a new employee whose answer to everything was IDK, IDK, IDK- she also called the other group with us and asked if they would be arriving soon- even though they were still an hour until check in. They stated that she was not very friendly over the phone and seemed to want them to hurry up. Check in did not tell us anything about the cabin as far as trash drop offs pick up or anything. Again she was new so maybe just needs more time and training. We expect to feel welcomed and for the staff to be excited as we are to be there. The lady covering the front Tuesday was a good example as we returned to look around and browse a bit. She was friendly and smiling. The positive was the cabin was clean and the park was clean. The porches were beautiful and peaceful at times. To sum up my review we will not return. Georgia has way to many parks that are worth a visit over this one- any day and time of the year. The playground is not a normal playground as well as there was no activities for the kids. No, scavenger hunts or ranger interactions. The playground near the boat / kayak drop in you almost have to be a ninja warrior to play on that thing. The not so great is that the is NO fishing here unless your are in a kayak. Please note that if you have children- we had 6 under 17 they could not fish off the banks or anywhere. The website says fishing, but take this as your PSA. We did venture out on the trails and were not impressed. The signage along the trail was sub par. The map for this park needs to updated to include landmarks on the maps as well. The park is one road and dead ends into Chattahoochee River. Very boring. It is worth noting as well that the park may be near a gun range as we heard gunshots ALL through out the day. The rate of the firing would lead you to believe it was not a hunter, but some sort of practicing. Heard it most of the 3 days we were there.I did use the laundry room at campsite #1 and there is not a change machine in there as advised by staff there would be ..so bring change. $2.25 for the washer and $1.00 for 20 minute dry.The cabin was suppose to be stocked with the essentials, but was missing a can opener and enough forks to feed as all at the same time. The drawer also knocked into the dishwasher and you could not unload the dishwasher and put the dishes away at the same time. Either someone way over thought the logistics in this place or did not care and thru up 4 walls and a roof. The covers on the bed were heavy and itchy and not delightful to sleep in. (my daughters words) Plenty of table spaces to sit and eat inside and out.If you are going for a day trip or in the town of this park I would say swing by, but do not go out of your way to visit or you maybe disappointed.* My views and my families are simply that our views.
Nice secluded mountain park. The campsite (or reason for being there) is deep in the park. Very nice, friendly staff at the visitor center.Camping in July did mean a LOT of insects, more than we found camping at the same time of year in north Georgia, that was not unexpected though.Cell signal is weak, when you can get one at all. For us, that was expected and part of getting away for a camping trip. For some that might be a.m. issue though, so I thought it worth mentioning.
A really neat park but the maps could use some improvements. The park has a great trail system that is well blazed. Definitely download a map before hand if you prefer a topo map, there will be no cell service once you are in the park.
Very clean. Its a fairly new park so everything is nice. Good trails. Campsites are clean and well maintained. Darlene at the front office was extremely friendly and helpful.
My family loves this place...even the fur baby!
Fantastic trails and great facilities.
Best park in the state. Jessica is the nicest park manager around. Very clean and great campsites.
Huge park. Very peaceful. Trails are well marked and easy to follow and the campsites are amazing. If you have an RV or camper they have pull through sites and back in sites. The sites are easy to back into even for the New comers. Highly recommended.
