Pros:big spacious park with lots of sporting areas and a man-made lake. Not unusual to see blue heron, deer, and other wildlife here. Theres also a great jogging track that goes all the way around the park, perfect for a scenic run without having to sacrificing your knees by running on concrete.Cons:lack of garbage cans and trash strewn all over the grass and trails

This park is clean and huge. My family jogged in the red track and got 4 miles in. The pond with a fountain is beautiful. They have porta potties which is convenient. We saw a lot of wild life. You must wear a mask. Free parking, benches, and places to relax in the grass. I would return, they have nice work out equipment along the track jogging trail.

This is a great park, very nice and scenic. I go here to fish all the time and there are so many prime spots around the lake to fish from. Unfortunately Ive been there dozens of times and have never caught a fish there. Im no pro but I know how to fish and ice used just about every lure you can think of. Never much luck. However Ive seen other people show me pics of the fish they caught so I know there are fish in there!

Covid testing went much smoother than I imagined.

Very beautiful place with an excellent jogging track. Littering is minimal. There are some stations throughout to do basic calisthenics. My only complaint is that the only available bathroom I could find is portable.

This park is peaceful and full of things for you to enjoy - there are playgrounds, multiple athletic fields, a running track, a giant lake, fitness courses spread around, a golf course. Lots of people out having fun. In the middle of the city, I always appreciate green spaces where you can just relax and enjoy nature without having to travel far.

This park is gorgeous, well maintained, open spaces . One of the best parks in New Jersey . They have fields for all different sports, work out area, playing. Area for kids and even a double side track that runs up to 2-3 miles I believe n the scenery is beautiful as u walk or run . Would recommend.

Love this park very beautiful. The only thing needed is more cleaning around the paths and track areas. My family and I love this park.

Loved my visit here. My husband and I watched a great softball game. It was a refreshing experience. There were soccer games going on as well. There is a play area for children. Walking, biking areas are available also. Its also a pet friendly.

I really like it. Very nice scenery. Just wish it was a little cleaner.

Everyone was respectable of each others space. It was nice watching the scenery.

I live 7blocks away and walk through this park on weekends with my family. We also go here alot to feed the birds. They have plenty of place within the park to juat relax, exercise, BBQ or ride a bike.

I went for a walk in the hood. Nothing is more refreshing than nature. Thats really where we come from. I saw different habitats and made many connections. I will love to come back again.

Not the best of parks because of location but put it this way people inside the park are really nice but on the outside its a whole different world

Fabulous track and upkeep on the Elizabeth side. The Newark side has beautiful old monuments and gazebos that have been left to deteriorate. The sports fields and playground are top notch but the rest is disgusting.

I live in county and have been learning to play golf on those 3 courses. Weequahic has super friendly staff and the course is usually kept white well for a public course. Its a shortish course with tight fairways. I usually walk and its pretty easy to do so sans 3 hilly holes. Overall, big fan.

The trail had a lot of inclines so you got a nice little work out whether you walked it or ran.

The park is BEAUTIFUL the location being NEWARK, NJ not so much. Its dangerous but picnics, a golf course, the lake and playground for the kids cant be beat!

The park is getting safer and better maintained. When I first moved to the area I heard many frightening stories about what goes on in the park and I was too scared to go on my own, these days the park is receiving much needed TLC and you can feel and see the difference its making in the community. There are some areas that need to be maintained, but hopefully things will continue to improve. I hope to continue seeing the park blossom into something great.

I have to give the park a real thumbs up . Its the one place you can go to walk, jog, run. Meet like minded people, and Get your Covid test. So i can get a good work out, Aand find out if Covid is working me out!

Facilities are not bad but need maintenance and fences around the park are down.

I noticed a red sign saying Entering Covid Hotspot and then noticed none (except 3) of the people had a mask on. People either walked too closely on the path or even stood the entire breadth of the path talking to friends. The area around the park felt very unsafe and the roads had lot of potholes.

Fresh air and the kids love to see animals in nature.

Upgrades is beautiful I was born in 1960 and I can even remember when it had the horse Stadium

The house music fest is great. Good food and better vines, definitely a repeat.

Weequahic park is my favorite place to find balance. My grandchildren love it too! When in college, i would come here to study. There is only birds, fish, turtles, Ducks geese and ground hogs that share this bery sacred place...

The trail surrounds a lake and every so often youll see swans but be careful, they will roll up on you. A lot of people fish in the lake too. Weequahic also has a golf course, two soccer fields and a basketball court, and a small playground. In the last year or so theyve done some updating so they now have a football field with an additional track. Theyve updated one of the soccer fields and added more night lighting. It really looks a lot better than what it used too.

I love this place because its nice and quiet, less pollution a place to play, to jog, to do picnik, and for fishing

I grew up in this park, it felt good to come back here and coach a flag football team (ages 10-13). Weequahic park has come along way since the 1970s and 80s. Thank god for the people who cared and the funding.

City of Newark has done a lot too and for this park and for the community. The park is very nice. Updated we want your children to play. But you know, you have some people that just like to throw trash and garbage and they have a lot of garbage cans that you can put your items in the garbage, but people choose to throw them on the ground. Food and liquor bottles, but you know some people make a good neighborhood bad for all. The park is a nice place to run, walk and play. And a nice place to go What a beautiful scenery.

I love this park! As someone whos trying to get fit, there is a lot to offer in the category of tracks. Also there are a lot of trees to give you shade when it gets hot.

Its safer at night if you are near the center track field during practice times. Very well lit & full of people. Very peaceful during the day for runs or walks.

There was a play area for children that had been revitalized with creative and fun activities to engage. Those who redesigned the area was certainly mindful of the safety of the children who would play there. A large portion of the ground was made of a rubberized material so if any child fell, they would not be injured. Even the slides had fun activities connected to the slide itself. That seemed to keep the children focused on fun.Way to go Newark Parks & Recreation Department!!

Great spot to visit for several hours! you can walk around the park, or jog along the trails. You can play on the Basketball courts, or create your own activities (like having a small cozy picnic). Its also a few things to do that involve the children.

Seems kind of odd that this park has a 4.4 star rating, and it holds the united states record for most murdered dead bodies found in any park in the nation. Im not trying to be negative its just the truth.

The upgrades to this park are wonderful. The playground with the water features is a great places to take the children this summer. There is another playground but each time I go by there theres gate is locked that I dont understand hopefully what ever the issue it will be resolved soon. The best unrated amenity is the beautiful golf course and club I believe they even have a summer program for young future golfers.
