Great Jazz club, always enjoyed myself. Cant wait to visit again. Food is great, the music always outstanding. Love their live streaming service, the audio is outstanding as well as the video. Best Ive seen so far.
Phenomenal environment. Very happy to see an establishment supporting the arts in such a hard time. Great food. Great wait staff. 10/10 would recommend
Have been wanting to try this spot since it opened as pictures make it look like a fine dining experience with great vibes. Most of the food did not disappoint. Especially at the price point and the entertainment value, this is a place I would definitely come back to.
Our dinner at Smoke Jazz & Supper Club was an AMAZING experience. The food was perfectly prepared and presented. So much attention to detail!!!! Our party was seated within a pod, which kept us comfortable and separated from passerbys. We witnessed meticulous cleanings of other pods in-between diners. Servers do not enter the pods, and practiced very strict safety protocols. This was our familys first outdoor dining experience in a very loooong time- and we would 10000% return for another meal at Smoke Jazz. We felt safely seated within our pod, but still part of the NYC scene AND we enjoyed a wonderfully-prepared meal!
I discovered them by accident and now my go to. New Yorkers love their Jazz and this is cozy community is so passionate. Thank you Smoke!
The atmosphere was amazing, very romantic, the food was good and the music was great! Would go again
I went to the midnight set on a Friday, and was absolutely blown away. The Keith Brown Trio played a stunning set, the environment was electric, and the service was excellent.Food service had ended by the time I arrived, but the drink service was reasonably prompt, and it was well worth the 2-drink minimum to enjoy several hours of awesome live Jazz.
This place was small & cozy but comfortable and also intimate for a night out with my secret lover. It has the perfect acoustics for a jazz band. The jazz band was magnificent. The lighting was just right so my lover can stare into my eyes and think about what he wants to do with me when we get home. Owwwee. Anyway! The food was awesome as well. The salad was a bit huge for no reason but okay. I ordered the ratatouille and omg. It was mouth watering. I would def go back
A treat for anyone who loves Jazz or chill tunes. Must have a reservation to attend. Locale is pretty small, expect to be at the bar if you are a party of 1. Anymore than that and you will need a table. Food was EXCELLENT. Perfectly portioned, well made and beautifully presented. A large selection of wines, Champagne, beers and mixed drinks. Ambiance was warm and inviting. Will definitely come back!
Such a magical place! One of the best services in NY. The food was delicious, mostly Southern, as well. Pricey, but so worth it. Music is what you need to be there for. If you love jazz - Smoke is the place to visit! My mom was so touched that she started crying from the overwhelming happiness.Cons: the tables are small and overall it’s a bit tight. But hey, it’s New York, so no wonder.
Music was awesome! The place is cozy and intimate for live jazz. My kids are budding musicians, one a drummer and the other a tenor sax. They both loved the music and are studying Coltrane. Tarik was a gracious host. Thanks!
Had a wonderful experience. If only they could move a few doors down to the former Henrys restaurant space, for more space. I realize that might be difficult because of anti-small business landlords. God Save New York!!!!!!
Great setting with a very cosy feel. The food was good but not brilliant, shrimp and Calamari starter was the best of the courses being tasty and a good portion. The main of chicken was slightly small and overcooked. Dessert was very good but incredibly rich and could have done with having cream or ice cream served with it. The jazz was good and we enjoyed the jam session! Unfortunately from my seat it was hard to see but I probably had the worst seat in there unfortunately!
I walked in with my fiánce. We were placed on line and were told it’d be $45 per person cover charge. They did not say up front that $45 cover charge would be good to be at the bar for just one hour. Did not think that was professional. Cool band but they need to be more open up front with the public.
Enjoyed my night out here from a invite from a Facebook friend, Jeff. The Wayne Escoffrey Quartet performed featuring Saxophonist Wayne Escoffrey. Very Talented Musicans. The setting & vibe was fantastic, the food was Fantastic, my White Russian was FANTASTIC!!! With the cinnamon added. A friendship from Facebook developed into a Friend For Life In Jeff! Thank You Again!Big Ups My Brother!!!
Celebrated my 33rd birthday here last night with some friends. Very inviting and cozy atmosphere. The band was amazing, and they made the experience worth it. However, the food left so much to be desired, and did not coincide with the hefty price tag. The side dishes that came with the entrees were tiny and the food was just overall lackluster. The wine was about 15 dollars a glass and was just a few sips, they could have poured more generously. It was just not what we expected with regard to cuisine. I would certainly return, but only for the music. In addition to paying for dinner you buy your tickets for the show separately which adds on to how expensive Smoke is. If it were not for the band I would have been disappointed. But Mr, Figueroa and his band rocked the house!
Music was great! Food delicious, it is a small place, the tables are very very close together. At the end of the set, the staff does rush you out. I wasnt done with my glass of wine when The waiter was waiting to clean my table.
Music and staff are the highlight of this place! The food was really yummy too, and a great drink selection. Went for Restaurant Week and will definitely be back! Thank you,!
This place is Awesome, food is great, love Johnny Oneal & music entertainment.Great staff, very attentive. There should be more Supper clubs as such! Id refer anyone to go here youll leave with a satisfied soul.
Wonderful jazz and dinner with great ambiance. Was a highlight of our NYC vacation. Portion are very large and can be shared.
So intimate and great jazz!
Food was good, ambience was fabulous, and the music did not disappoint. Oh and the greeting at the door when you arrive is priceless. Such a gentleman.
No bad seats, foods great, drinks strong...oh, and the music is top notch. A consistent choice for jazz aficionados.
Great food, as always, live music is great just make sure you factor in your tickets & pull up to see whos playing
Top notch jazz in a great sounding room. Not a bad seat in the place.
Music is great but the manager will pick your pocket. We were seated at the bar ($20 minimum) and told, Youre lucky, you can sit at a table after they must have sold our bar seats. Then we were charged a $30 minimum at the end of the set ($45 entry plus $3 to make a reservation) after we had each had one drink. Compares badly with Mezzrow for value or Dizzys Club Coca-Cola for elegance. If you want to hear great music and be treated like dirt, come uptown to Smoke.
Great music but really expensive for such a tight fit. You have no room at all. Youre shoulder to shoulder with neighbors and you are forced to order food and drinks. Its a but gouging in my opinion
My first time at a jazz club, food and mood was excellent and the place was so intimate, you can really feel the music
Definitely worth a visit. The food, music and atmosphere was fantastic. Make sure its on your list of things to do at night in NYC!
Joined some local friends for an evening here and weren’t disappointed. Great performance by the band and singer + an improv rendition at the end by another visiting singer. Couldn’t be happier
Worst overpriced food ever! The food at applebees/Tgi Fridays is gourmet compared to the reheated, processed appetizers and greasy leftover tasting fried chicken the cheesecake dessert tastes like it was made a few weeks ago and left in the refrigerator to be served at the next show. The beer /wine was great but overpriced. The only great thing was the music. Total tourist trap!! Follow your act and attend when they perform elsewhere!!
Great atmosphere and great music, we were there for a set and then the subsequent jam session, when all sort of very talented youg musician joined the quartet.price structure is not completely clear from the website: is 9 $ music charge (which you can book online) and then 20 minimum to spend at the bar (or 38 at dinner). We were at the bar, drinks were very good and amazing nutella cheesecake
Oh em gee!! One of the best date nights ever!! My husband and I went during restaurant week for a jazz show. It was super intimate, service was fair considering how packed it was and pricing was decent for the value. Ambiance was amazing, food was fantastic, music was magical. ️
Incredible talent. Good food. Cozy. Friendly staff
Smoke was cool. First time going to jazz. Not bad. The service was great. The atmosphere was intimate and warm, yet very classy and contemporary. They were doing a pre fix this night, which included music, an appetizer, entree, and dessert. All which were great. I suggest the fried chicken.
Music is great! They need to greatly improve their food charging those prices. Also beware of the way they include CD charges on the bill; the tip %ages includes the cost of the CD.
Great time at the sit down show. You have to get there early before your reservation.
Good food. Great music. Small venue with a real cozy feel.
Intimate, sexy, modern-yet-classic jazz venue. Highly recommend the wedge salad. Looking forward to returning.
Great food & music, chance to talk & eat then enjoy in a romantic setting
Great atmosphere, fabulous bands, great food. And, they sell LPs and CDs over the bar!!!!!
Great vibes, music was wonderful (Emmett Cohen band was playing and brought up a few incredible vocalists), just know theres a 2 drink minimum and enjoy!
Possibly the worst place in Manhattan to hear jazz. Smoke has reached a place after years of incredible music to now completely take their clientele for granted. Rude, distracted service does not do service to great musicianship. Better to discover some of the small clubs in the village that still value their customers. So sad.
What an amazing night, first time experiencing a Jazz lounge. It was more and everything me and wife was looking for as a nee experience. Food was great, every dollar spent there is worth it. The live music was great cant wait to go back
Cozy joint, food was ok but a bit pricey for the portion. I would have given them a 5-star but spending over $200 for a SMALL plate for two and one drink each is unjustifiable. The place is NOT five-star, but ok. Music was also good
Great music, great food, great fun! More than worth the trip Uptown.
What a joke. This is one of the most expensive place to hear jazz. Aside the entry fee to hear the band (which was super cool!), the menu is way too expensive given the quality of the meal. The service is non-existent and rude. They take their clients for granted. This place is no more than a tourist trap
Next time in NY Im going again for sure.Chill atmosphere, great food and service.Music the night I was there was fantastic!
Fantastic jazz in a very cozy atmosphere. The food is good. We had the short ribs which were tasty and delightful as well as the wedge salad. Nice wines and beers. A overall fantastic experience.
Good food, good vibes, nice jazz music,...nice place to take ur lady,or just chill.
50$ cover charge per person just to enter? I was absolutely shocked when the bouncer told me that. Insane.
Smoke is an intimate Jazz Club that cares about the music and the audience. The music is real honest jazz. The audience is attentive and the food is excellent. Leslie Harrison is a vibrant engaging singer who is there on Wednesday nights with terrific musicians joining her. No tired phoned in sets here. Fourth visit and its always great.
Intimate venue with delicious food and attentive staff.
One of the best jazz experiences Ive ever had! A NYC must!
The music is great, no question. However, this review is primarily concerned drinks. Guys, please ramp up your mixology expertise for cocktails as it will turn down many customers from you. It seems that there is not enough liquor in the cocktails or proportions are wrong. Please survey other customers and find out, but the quality is 3 out 5 at most for cocktails.
- Please be careful with this place and his manager, owner, not sure but he’s very rude and unprofessional. I went there, and since I got at the door, they started treating me bad, and starting asking a lot of questions, then they said, check what they say inside. I went inside got my drink(red wine), I asked for a Malbec, they didn’t have it and then gave me some Italian that wasn’t even good ($15). So I was standing up there at the bar listening music and he came a couple of times, hey you need to seat, you need to seat, you need to seat. I told him that there’s wasn’t any chair available, then some people left and he told me the same, he treated me bad, and I felt so uncomfortable with this person at the point that I had to leave the place even if I didn’t finish my wine. I’m a musician and played a lot of times there. Don’t know he’s name but he was really bad. Not going back bc of him. I’ll update the review with some photos of him bc there were 2 guys with glasses, but it looks he was manager or something like that bc the way he just treated me. Not going back there thanks to this person!!!Thank you Smoke.
Very impressive jazz club, with wonderful service and equally delicious food. Saw a great act, and thoroughly enjoyed the night.
Always a great experience. Top end jazz in an intimate space and good food to match. The shows are a little pricey but very well worth it. Really enjoyable.
Very nice cozy spot...Food was excellent
A wonderful place to celebrate my daughters 40th birthday with friends.
Feels like NYC back in the 90’s when there was brunch with live jazz everywhere. I love this place
Smoke is our favourite jazz venue in New York. This was the second time there. Music and food are both excelent. We feel very comfortable. For sure we will return. Thanks so much.
They dont make them like this any more!Great jazz place
Awesome! great food great music
Smoke Jazz & Supper Club presents world-class jazz seven nights a week. Candlelit tables, plush velvet banquets, antique chandeliers, and an historic full-length bar create a real jazz vibe. Smoke also serves the perfect complement to classic jazz— soulful American cuisine. The room has seating for just over fifty, which ensures that every listener is close to the action. During Smokes renovation, the primary focus was on creating an unparalleled room for music...and it shows. The acoustics are some of the best anywhere. Pianist David Hazeltine remarked, “I love playing this room. It’s rare that the piano can be heard as clearly as it is in this club.” Harold Mabern added, “It’s the best jazz club in the world.” In the almost 20 years since its opening, jazz has continued to thrive at 106th (aka Duke Ellington Boulevard) and Broadway and Smoke is adding a few new chapters of history to a location that has been host to a legendary jazz venue for over 40 years. Smoke was named “Best New Jazz Club” in 2000 by New York Magazine and has won the open table diners choice awards for several consecutive years.
Good wine selection, super helpful people, my sea bass was delicious, and most importantly the music was incredible. It doesnt get any better than this. Was completely awed to hear legend George Coleman and his quartet. Recommend!
COVID Update: the streaming concerts are excellent and so is the takeout/delivery. And kudos to the Smoke team for making the difficult but responsible decision to close for in-person dining after NYC’s schools have closed. Please support this excellent club while they support our community! My favorite jazz club in town. Very intimate, consistently hosts great artists, and has food worth eating even without the music. Try the blackened catfish.
Great music and service, good food.
Small intimate great chow a winner in my book
The live music was vibrant and service was reliable! The drinks were pricey but did the job. The wedge salad did not disappoint, but I should have gone with my gut about not ordering the bouillabaisse as it was difficult to find the seafood.
I used to come here a lot and the music never disappoints. Classy and cozy, I love how the venue is small so the music is right in your face, if you’re into that... The food is good too, I feel I must mention a bad experience I had with their French onion soup, but other that the fries, steaks, and cocktails were always excellent.Something must be said about the excellent location. This place always turned into great dates for me, because you have two great conversation statues within easy walking distance that shows your date some of the history NYC is bursting with. In my opinion this is one of the most beautiful areas of the city.1. Strauss park; statue of a sad woman lying on her side is actually a wife on the Titanic who was given a chance to live on a lifeboat but chose to stay and die with her husband. When the family heard she died with her husband they made that park (108th and Broadway?) in her honor.2. The Buddhist statue that survived the Hiroshima bombing. It’s right around the corner on the apartment-side of Riverside.
So sad to come back to a favorite jazz haunt and find it so completely indifferent to the people that have enjoyed it for so many years. You might remind your staff that there are other places to go to hear music in NYC. Mezzrow is one that now welcomes guests instead of ushering them in and out like cattle.
I enjoyed this venue very much. Food was outstanding!!! Enjoyed the music as well. Will definitely be back
Food was amazing, also service was great, very attentive. I recommend the pork-chop and caipirinhas, anything on the menu really. We went while there was a jazz band playing, very nice mellow vibe.
Great music food fair
Special price on certain days. Check the discount and singers on website before going.
If you like jazz this is the place closed due to the pandemic until further notice
The music is great, the place small and the food and drinks expensive. The experience overall was good. Keep in mind that the place is small, but the establishment tries to sneak in as many tables next to each other while sacrificing the comfort of the guests. Try to get there a little bit early before the start of your show so you can start ordering food drinks. They will really push you out and pressure you to leave (ruins the experience).
Went to Smoke for a Steve Turre show. The place is cozy and very welcoming. Out server was really nice and always had a smile on her face even though serving and moving around was hard while the band was playing. Food was good and I specially enjoyed the cheesecake - delicious and traditional at the base but a spoon of nutella on top. Yum!!
