What an experience. Everyone has heard of the UCB (and of course its many elebrity members old/new) but to actually take in a show at the theatre is an experience like none other! You really feel like a local and few a connection with these often up and coming actors, comedians, musicians, etc. That’s the thing...you never know what you’re going to get because it’s improv and that’s what makes it awesome. No one day is the same as the next. You and only a handful of others might even be seeing “the next big thing” without even knowing it!

The show that we saw was great, but they made us queue outside in the cold before the show. Im not sure what that was about, but they need to figure out an alternative! There was plenty of space in the lobby, we just werent allowed in, even after purchasing drinks at the bar!

We went to the NOT The Daily Show improv by a group who writes from The Daily Show. Very very funny! Only 9 bucks each! We were going to spend a load on last minute tix to a musical but opted for UCB. Smart move! Plus its in Hells Kitchen. Awesome eats nearby without midtown steakhouse prices. Going back tomorrow night!

What a fantastic experience! This is the kind of thing that makes me feel like a real New Yorker. It was well organized, the staff and interns got everyone into the space in an efficient manner, and the provided advice of getting to the theater 15 minutes in advance of showtime was taken seriously by all, which was great.I enjoyed the show and I could see the whole stage because the seats were properly constructed in the auditorium style. The size of the space is small enough to feel very intimate and the nature of the show I saw (Gravid Water) pulled the audience in quite well.

To put this review in overly simplistic words, this place is absolutely hilarious and unique, but I feel like I need to go into more detail. You buy the tickets in advance, or at the box office there, then you get into a line to get into the theater. The seats are first come first serve, (some seats are reserved, they have tape with the reserverers name on them, but Im getting sidetracked) and if youre too late you have to sit on the side of the stage.

First time for us here and we had so much fun! We saw The Curfew at 7:30pm on Saturday, which is the improv show. I highly recommend purchasing tickets the day before and showing up about 30 minutes before the show begins to get good seats, and to sit together if you travel with a big group. The shows do sell out so don’t wait till you get there. They also offer some free shows that you have to get tickets for the same day. They also have drinks for purchase so a plus! Highly recommend!

The show (the curfew) was absolutely fantastic, although English is not our mother tongue we truly enjoyed it. Unfortunately, the customer service was not so great; purchasing tickets online did not work out and although I tried contacting the theatre multiple times via email, I never got a reply which was annoying and unnecessary, especially since the show turned out to be so great! We ended up arriving really early to get tickets by being in the standby line which worked out great (we were like 30 minutes early & first in line) but I do wish I wouldve gotten a little more support since it was an event for a loved ones birthday and I wanted everything to turn out perfect.
