Just came out of the show. Courageous and gifted folks here. Get a belly full of laughs and be part of the show. I know, I gave them a hand(s).No better dose of the chilly blues then a bowl of laughter. Enjoy the underground bar and intimate stage. You wont regret it.Just get there on time and enjoy some free Oreos.
I had a wonderful time at the comedy show. The comics were fantastic, and the whole place has a really nice atmosphere. The time flew by! The food and drinks are also good, and for $7 the fries are a great deal. 2 order minimum per person (either food or drinks), and they pass around a tip jar for the comics at the end. Small space (maybe 20 seats?), comfortable and cozy atmosphere.Negatives are that there were no $5 margaritas that night and the deals on the wall of the back room were not correct. I feel like the pricing could have been clearer for drinks. We ended up paying more than we thought, which put a bit of a sour note to the end of our night.Still, it was definitely a great value in comparison to other comedy clubs! We had a very enjoyable night and it was a pleasure to see so many great comics.
Went there for a comedy show and the comedians were great. $5 margaritas were good. Food is basic bar food. Had a great time. 2 item minimum for show is pretty decent for a free show
Should have looked at previous reviews that said the same thing, about being ripped off. Good comedy, but watch out for the hidden fees/ordering during the show. Didn’t realize that the shot/beer was $8 (they were out of the $5 marg and she offered it as a compromise) and then trying to listen to the show while drunk threw us. Make sure to come prepared to not get ripped off like we did. :/
I cannot tell you how much we loved the Bring Her Mama comedy show at the Lantern Comedy Club. And I have to tell you, for starters, that we were not expecting much -- my wife and my two kids (8 and 12, grls). We got there early, ordered some drinks and nachos--fare was just fine. The host, Eugene, comes ripping onto the stage (such as it was) and launched a show that was absolutely amazing...from his opening where he somehow engaged and interacted with every kid in the audience to the final performer/comic, the show was a blast! Diverse, contemporary, and--best of all-- freakin able to be kid-appropriate and parent-friendly all all at the same time!!! WOW!
Great line up & I had the best laugh. Great staff at the bar also. I will definitely go back...
Cozy place, okay amateur comedians testing their material, and nice $5 margaritas (no rocks). The reason for the lower rating is I was reviewing my card statement and saw our group was charged almost $30 for 4 of those margaritas plus tip. Everyone is having a good time and trusting everything is being calculated correctly. Whenever I called to ask about this higher than expected cost, I could not get a hold of them or leave a voicemail. I would be very disappointed if this extra charge is consistently being applied to other patrons. Good comedy hangout and I appreciate the free show, but make sure to double check your charges at this establishment.
Good cocktail menu. Two drink minimum on regular stand-up comedy shows.
Great show!!! Cozy and funny! The performers are very talented. Definitely recommended.
The club and the venue itself is fine. Many of the comics seemed to focus exclusively on jokes about dating and their sex life though. Could be a one off experience. The host was really great.
Great place to hang out and meet people. I love NYC but I’m not local. I felt like this little comedy club was a good inbetween of local and touristy. The food and drinks were good and cheap too.
Fun atmosphere, funny hosts/comedians if youre there on a good night & theres a strict 2 drink min. (and no, water doesnt count)
Stopped in for a comedy show on a Sunday night and was happily surprised. The crowd was small, but the comics/hosts were good and the food and drinks well priced. There is a reasonable one item purchase minimum.
Went to a few different shows at different clubs in the same evening, and honestly this was one of our favorites. We made reservations online ahead of time, so we only needed to arrive about 15 min before show tie. So many reviews mention the fries...and now I know why- they were amazing! Comics were super funny- it was a great show- especially considering there was no cover.
Hostess and waitress were very nice and dressed very cool for Halloween. Food is good.
Great little bar, with a comedy club in back. Friendly staff and decent new blood testing material. Well worth the minimum, so get in there jerky!
A lot of low level sex jokes, and mostly exploiting people in the first row. It wasnt really funny. But the place is good, with good food and its not too pricey. Maybe I was just unlucky with the line up.
Waited 40 minutes to get a drink bartender double charged us they say its a comedy club its already a joke. All the good reviews are from people they know dont let them fool you.
It was pretty fun. I was wandering around, looking for a place for dinner that would grab me. Walked past this place and one of the comedians lied us in with a menu and jokes. Pretty good spot for a meal and a show. Its go back again if I have time to kill in NYC.
Awesome night at the lantern . 8 comics with great talent, bonus give what you can! Good drinks and food service 10/10 would go again.
Always a great time. Food and service is on point
Great comedy show and reasonable prices. Highly suggest
You show them love and theyll do the same. Good place to make friends with regulars
Cant believe the comedy show was free. The line-up was hilarious and the drinks were strong. Bring cash to drop in the bucket when they ask you to pay what its worth at the end.
Meh hit & miss with comics but cant complain for for free.
Prices for drinks and food are amazing!!! Though the comedy club isn’t too funny, have seen better ones in the city. If you’re going, know you’re paying for drinks and food and the comedy is just a good side show!
The Acts Are Usually Very Good, No Cover Charge
It was so funny I can’t put it into words. The whole line up was fire. Had me in tears. This is where the next big comics are going to come out of. Will definitely be back.
Really small, but they have a bar and a semi dance floor. Sometimes they have comedy shows. Honestly, it could be better comics but they do have really good food. I got the nachos and cheese with chicken and it was delicious compared to other comedy spots. With a try, decent first date scene.
Loved the Tuesday Comedy Night! Especially loved Alexandra KayHart’s part - she was fantastic and really witty with her jokes!
Cool spot for some drinks & to catch a show.
Back room club had pretty mediocre local comedians. Lantern bar is nice though with good food and service.
Some of the comedians were ok and one or two where good. Friendly for sure and nice lively setting.
Went there on a Friday around 12m, to just hang out and have a drink and was offered to see a Free Comedy show. What A Night!! For my friends and I. We had a blast. Appetizers were so-so. Comedy was so-so. 3 out 5 aint bad, I guess. But the DJ kept playing dem songs that had me dancing. DJ gets there @930p for the record. #enjoy!!!
Mediocre standup comedy (giggles and ice cream), but given they were beginners I would support their efforts.
Food was ok, service was almost ok, comedy was pretty good, especially for almost zero $
Great environment and funny comidians!
The comedy show was surprisingly really good! Local comics are always funnier!
Best comedy show Ive seen so far. Laughed like a kid! Good food and nice Margaritas! Remember to register for the free comedy show before going on the webpage.
Great atmosphere. Wings were OK. French fries were really good. Drinks were cheap.
Youll laugh, youll drink, and youll cringe when the comics bomb. Overall 9/10
Good comedy and cheap drinks. What else ?
I like the fries there. Salty but good. The onion rings werent half bad either.
Food was good. Alex Kayhart and TJ Miller were killing it haha.
Great place and staff. Great to see up an coming comics
Favorite spot downtown. Great people, comedy, drinks, food, everything! $5 frozen Margs seal the deal
Caught a great set here. Affordable drinks and a great show.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere and size at The Lantern. The standups were a mix of hit and miss which is fine. Some of them were really funny. Enjoyed that much. They need to beef up on their non alcoholic beverages though, I mean, not everyone drinks alcohol...
Drinks cheaper than many places around and we had a great night of comedy added in - wed definitely return
Great up and coming comics every time Ive gone there
Cheap drinks, free & very funny comedy show, chilled atmosphere - what else could you ask for.
Great comedy roomGenerally high quality of talent
Great free comedy shows!
$5 margs, great selection of comedians, good service- will be back again!
Had a great time thanks
My boyfriend and I sat at the bar after being told there were $5 margaritas and free comedy... the bartender was HORRIBLY RUDE!!! She was absolutely miserable, unfriendly, and I had to ask her for a drink. She was too busy eating onion rings behind the bar to care about the customers. I ordered a margarita ($5) and the drink was HORRIBLE. margarita was by far the worst I had ever had. I took one sip and slid it back towards her and didnt touch it again. When we were no longer being served, we got the bill, the bartender charged me $9 because she failed to tell me that rocks margaritas were full price. Will absolutely never go back!
Nice little venue with talented and funny comics. Fun place to check out if youre in Soho looking for a free show.
The Lantern is pretty great for comedy, and if you can catch Pumkin Escobar on stage there, thats always a bonus. Those tap brews dont come cheap at $10 bucks a pop, doe; so holla at them $5 dollar frozen Maggie specials.
Great little place for a good laughter and nice cold frozen margarita
Small. Funny. Good mozzarella sticks. I think I was double charged for gratuity. And they passed a bucket around to help the free comics
The entrance is a little wheelchair accessible but you have to learn to trust maneuver because of the door. But if you might need a restroom and have a physical disability, dont bother. The bathroom is in the basement
Free comedy show! What more can you ask for.
Went to a free comedy show. Had a great time. Good stiff drinks and funny comedians.
Some of the comedians were funny but it wasnt a bad show for free.
Great show, thanks to the MC, Mike Nguyen, for being a top bloke
Great comics! Never a full moment.
Stumbled upon this place after having some ridiculously good cookie dough across the street. Free admission, $5 margaritas and great comics - what more can you ask for?
They have family comedy once a month and we go every couple of months. We enjoy it.
Cool vibe. Decent comedy shows
Came here on a double date. The comedy is free but the 1 drink minimum applys, thus how they make the overhead. What annoyed me was that we couldnt reserve a seat and our guests the other couple were separated but yet yall let the couple right behind us do the exact same thing yall just said we couldnt. Be consistent if you set a rule it makes you guys look shaky. Depending on the person they may throw around more serious accusations like racism so keep that in mind. But I just saw it as corny. Comedians were so-so. Some were funny and 2 were hilarious and the rest needs new material. Not one time was the whole crowd laughing. It was a giggle there a giggle here and the audience is diverse with everyone. Hence why I said they comedy is so-so. Once you buy drinks and an app you spent $20-30 which to me that is an affordable date. The vibes were 100, the jokes were 60, the presence and ambiance 70
Pretty cool show, good deals on drinks.
Comedy night was a very good time. Host were very attentive and helpful.
Cant beat the price (free admission with a one item minimum). The comics reflected the price but the experience was enjoyable. May go again.
Solid food and comedy.
Nice venue, less nice is to force folks pay for drinks before stand-up show.
Horrible place, my girlfriend and I were waiting in a table at the bar for your friends to come out of the show. we were happily drinking some beer and cocktails when without notice the manager and the bouncer took away the table from under our drinks without any notice or discussion about them going to do so. Not only we ended up in the middle of the floor sitting on stills with nowhere yo put our drinks down, but they manages to wet ourselves in the process as the waitress had left some water from cleaning the table up. They never apologized or said anything, and when I asked to talk to the manager, who I didnt know was the girl who took the table from under our drinks, the bouncer not only got testy but asked me why I am complaining if we didnt have any food in it. then, the manager,, after telling her that my girlfriend got so upset by being treated that way that she left to the bathroom to contain her anger and not last at them, told us that she can give my girlfriend a free drink for getting wet. She never said once sorry or explained why they took our table away when we were just like any other customer there. It was horrible. worst 50 dollars spent in my life to be treated like cattle by a group of unprofessional bar personnel and a poorly led and managed place.
First time in NYC for only 3 days and we did this club twice. It was that good.
Great happy hour frozen margaritas.
Free comedy on a Tuesday, great menu, loved my visit
Very nice setting cool place to hang out with friends
New comics every night real valuable priced drinks it does not disappoint go and try it
Great energy, great comics, a quality place to watch Live Comedy!
For the price of a drink you can catch a great comedy show. Was an unexpected find but throughly enjoyable
Giggles and cream is a decent comedy show and you get free ice cream after!!!
Great show!! I loved it
Great comedy and good food & drink specials.
Great place, comedians were amazing
Great comedy show, no cover, good service, and nice people.
Cant beat the free Comedy, you just have to buy a drink!
Love the vibe at the comedy show in the back.
Comedy show was funny and the $5 margaritas were delicious
