Sugden Regional Park is situated around sixty acre Lake Avon which was created as a borrow pit for fill used in constructing and expanding the Tamiami Trail. The land for the park was acquired in 1995 with financial assistance from the Florida Communities Trust and Florida Forever Funds. The park was dedicated in 1998. It is named for Herbert J. Sugden, a former Ralston Purina Corp. worker and author turned philanthropist.Sugden Park has one of the only fresh water beaches in Collier County. Sand for the beach was taken from Collier County schools as they replaced their recreation areas with mulch. After a toddler drowned at the beach in a 2013, a loaner life jacket program was started so that anyone can borrow a life jacket here as well as at other beaches in Naples.There is a sailing center in the park that offers water skiing and sailing classes. The park also has a playground, sand volleyball court, paddle boat rentals, and a restroom. There are eight large gazebos that can be rented from the Parks and Recreation Department for private events. The large field, stage, and amphitheater at the park can also be rented. My favorite part of the park was the long nature trail that winds around the lake.Events are held at the park such as the American Sprint Triathlon that includes an early morning swim across the lake, and the water cross jet skiing races that are held in mid September. A farmers market is held in the fall and there is a large celebration on the Fourth of July. Come out and enjoy this natural treasure in east Naples.

Its a very nice park. but the running time frustrates me. Arrived at the park at 5:30 pm on Nov 16 and couldnt get in. they closed the gate in front of my face and did not let me into the park. I think the hours before sunset are bad times. let there be a fixed time up to 8-9 hours

Its peaceful and a great place to spend time with family or go for a walk. The beach is always clean. The sidewalk is very well maintained as well. Definitely a place to visit.

Nice park. There is a lot trail around the lake where you can see turtles and gators in the water. There is also a nice playground and plenty of shady areas with benches and grills. Plenty of parking as well.

Ive been going to this park for 2 decades now and somehow it just gets nicer. The playground is a great spot for kids or swing lovers, you can go swimming or play volleyball at the beach portion, theres a nature walk that goes all the way around the lake, a large field for activities and you can rent rafts from the activity center. This is also a great location to watch the sunset.

This was a unique park. A big freshwater lake that you can swim in, with a beach area. They have docks, and a few playground areas for children. Pavilions are located throughout the park and also have a butterfly garden centrally located by the entrance gate. Some spots are rather secluded if you are looking for alone time. The park is patrolled by park rangers. A rather loud and obnoxious horn is blown when a storm is nearby, and lightning is a threat. You immediately must vacant the water, if you dont listen to it, the ranger will be enforcing the rule. But it is a rather pleasant park to visit.

Sudgen Park is a great place to go and exercise, take family and etc. I mainly like to go there and relax and watch the view. The sunset is amazing. I also like to go walking there a just see how beautiful nature is there. Sudgen Park is a great park

I loved walking around the lake seeing the alligators, turtles, duks, butterflies...Theres a playground and lots of benches and picnic tables.

We have been exploring the walking trails in Collier County and had read about this park so we checked it out today. The main entrance is off rt41 opposite Lakewood Blvd.There a 70 acre lake with a paved walking trail that goes around it. There is a beautiful sandy beach and playground for the kids. Boating, fishing, water skiing....what a recreational area! There are even bleachers for water skiing events.But we were there to walk and the trail around the lake is maybe two miles, very scenic. Bikers use it also. Plenty of parking. Nice facilities. And.....it wasnt crowded !! We highly recommend this park.

The park itself is huge. The lake is beautiful however don’t bring high hopes for fishing. Other than that the walking path, playground, and water vessel options there are all terrific. There’s plenty of nature to be seen and plenty to do. I enjoy it every time I go and always enjoy myself.

My go to Park for morning walks reminds me of Africa my home, It has a lake and a beach with thick green vegetation palm trees small winding path of 1.50 miles idea for 2 to 4 laps of runners and joggers and walk enthusiasts!The free views, smells and sounds only nature can provide for all ages, as a story teller this is my favorite spot to brain storm.

The best part about this park is when Pro Watercross comes in November for their World Championship. Watching freestyle (jetskis doing tricks) is obviously the best part of that event too.Also, the area is super clean with nice water and abundant white sand!

Sugden park is great for long, scenic walks. Its a pretty busy place throughout the day. They have a lot of trails that go around a huge pond/lake, a big playground for the kids, and they rent out small boats to ride in the water. Theres a big beachy area for swimming. Sugden Park is a beautiful outdoor space that was wonderful for hosting the Prowatercross World Championships. Racers from all over the world enjoyed the spacious green lawn, warm sandy beach, and perfect temperature water during a week full of competition.

Very nice park with walking paths and a playscape for children. A sandy beach is close to a parking lot. They have waterskiing though not right now because of covid19. This park draws in a large pokemon crowd also.

A great environment that opens up your mind, heart and opportunities for families and friends to make many memories.

This park is really beautiful. There was a regatta when we went jogging. Clean, safe and the sand is white, no burning here :)

Nice walk for doggie and me around Lake Avion. There is a roped area to swim, but suggestion, bring water shoes.

A quiet, well kept, spacious, 60 acre park with a scenic 1.5-2 mile walk/bike path. There are sandy/beach areas to relax and catch sun next to the lake. There are also small row boats for rent and public restrooms available. There are a few easy accesible docks as well as benches around the lake. The playground is clean and features 3 large umbrella canopies over each major structure for sun protection. Watch your kids while walking on the path (just like anywhere in Florida) there are wildlife signs that gators may be in or around the lake.

A nice park with paved walking/jogging/bicycling path. Secluded areas to have a private picnic, a nice little beach and an area for kids to play. They have restrooms and picnic tables and free loaner kids life jackets.

Nice little lake with beach and water skiing. Looks like a good place for sailing lessons especially once the snow birds fly home.

I go to this park all the time and I love it. They also have events held there. My daughter has so much fun there. Jet ski races this past weekend.

Ride my road bike just about everyday. Stop to see the wild life, especially the eagle nest. Saw both male n female on the nest and branches.

It’s close to my home and it’s a fun place to bring kids and pets and there’s a nice small beach

My husband and I are regulars for our morning walks. There is a perfect one and a half mile walking trails around the water. We enjoy the birds, turtles, lil aligator and nature. It has lots of activities and a nice area for picnic and clean bathrooms.

Loved the feel/energy of the park. Lots of runners and walking around the whole lake. Dog walkers were nice and had their dogs on a leash and there are doggie bag stations through the full walk.And there are garbage and recycle bins all around the lake, so they really do care about keeping the park clean.Will take my dog for another walk again soon.

Very impressed with the size of the park and the big lake with the man made beach for boat access and sunbathing. We were there for the vegan feast and it was a great venue.

Sugden is a little jewel. Its got wonderful nature trail for walking and biking. It has a fantastic white sandy beach with paddle boat rentals and offers many public events, Farmers Market, 4th of July fireworks and local concerts and theater

Very basic park. It has a 1.5 mile trail around the big pond which is the center of the park. Several gazebos and a couple of picnic tables for people to have lunch with their friends. Not much else. There is a swimming area, if you enjoy swimming in filthy pond water. There is some tiny concert area, where various events are held for the elderly community. As a park, this place is as basic as it gets. It is hardly more than a vacant lot.

Clean well maintained. Wish they used it more like in the past. Cocerts, farmers mkt, etc.

Nice park located just off US 41. There are several gazebos throughout the park, as well as a 1.5 mile paved trail around a lake. There is a small beach and an area for swimming. The park also offers grills, playground equipment, and restrooms. They also put on various events throughout the year, including some on the lake. This is a good place for a walk, to ride a bike, jog and walk a dog. Except during events, Ive never seen it crowded. Free entry and parking. A wonderful place.

Love to walk the track around the lake, which has a Sandy Beach swimming permitted, life jackets available, park is nice with playground, restrooms, catch and release fishing, gazebos, sailboat and skiing classes, covered picnic shelters can also be reserved when busy season. What a lovely gift to the Naples Community by the Sugden family. I have attended concerts, outdoor church services and walk the perimeter of the lake with my granddaughter here. A large park with many covered areas to picnic with family.

Nice walk round the lake. Great to see the ospreys. Nice wee beach.

A nice hidden gem. Easily overlooked as it is tucked behind a busy commercial area. Large freshwater lake with sandy beach. Restrooms and playground. We went close to closing but it looked like you could rent small paddle boats and a possible concession area. Large walking trail. The park is fenced in as well. I want to try a day here next time instead of fighting beach traffic.

Was in town for the weekend. The trail provided me a great place to run.
