I take my dog Chloe here every evening and every weekend morning. The dog are really friendly and everyone here is really nice. The best part is that the same dogs keep coming. Your dog will see some of their same friends everyday. The one thing I dont like is the burrs. If you let your dog go in the tall grass be careful some parts have a lot of burrs.
It was an okay forest preserve. We had fun and there were plenty of trails for biking and hiking but when I think of a forest preserve I think of a massive amount of dense trees. Most of our hiking was on a rock path in sunlight (yes, I enjoyed myself) its a Nice area to enjoy the day but not the very wooded area I was hoping. If Im going to a forest I want to be immersed in trees. There was a historic barn and house which wasnt tour able but a photo op.There were other trails we did not embark but from the road view it seemed the other trails were also not in the woods. Finally, there is a dog park, and rumor has it you need a permit to have your dog “off leash” at the park.
Love to bike here. ever since my children learn to bike here. its easy to moderate
This is a hidden gem, very beautiful, many trails, good for biking, walking . I absolutely loved this place especially with the fall colors. A must visit!
Great path that extends to different paths! Good for a jog
Terrific dog park. Clean, well managed
Lovely forest preserve. Great for hiking and biking. Doesnt feel like youre near a city.
Amazing location and great for running! Crowds are less so social distancing is easily possible.
Fantastic dog park. Tons of open space as well as trails. Dries out pretty quickly after rain.
Beautiful place to relax have lunch read a book or just breath enjoy
Nice trail to take a stroll with my dog.
Typical forest preserve with trails and large open area. with shelters.
I have lived in Naperville my whole life and havent been to this park. I just explored it and I think it is my new favorite.
Nice scenery, Whalon Lake is really pretty too. There are a lot of shorter limestone/paved trails around here so you have plenty of options. Hopefully they open the hill back up soon.
Beautiful even in the cold. Crushed stone path.
The Green Valley Overlook is only open to the public from May until October on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m to 6 p.m. The Hill is 190 feet high and was originally a landfill but it is now retired. When the visibility is good you can see the Chicago skyline all the way from Naperville. It is usually very windy on the top of the hill (If you are planning a picnic or flying a kite come prepared). The best times to go are usually during the fall when all the trees are changing or middle of the summer on a sunny day.
Favorite place to take my dog to run and sniff.
It was fun I was there for the OA ring
It was a nice walk. The Hawk trail is closed right now but you can still hear them and spot them. Bikes come through fast here so if you bring kids you have to really look out! Not a lot of masks but the trail os wode enough to keep distance
Great place for picnic and taking your dog
Nice easy trail, plenty of parking trees. Wild flowers.
Just awesome .. just make sure to apply mosquito repellent (a must) while visiting
The 1,388-acre Greene Valley Forest Preserve in Naperville is home to more than 540 native plant species, making it one of the countys most botanically diverse sites. On weekends May through October, its 190-foot-tall scenic overlook provides a birds-eye view of the landscape and the Chicago skyline. Its a great spot to picnic or look for migratory birds. Greene Valley also offers 12 miles of marked trails, picnic shelters, an off-leash dog area, a model craft area, a youth-group campground and more fun....
A favorite. Branches off so you can have a different hike everyday. Not ever too crowded.
Great park, big difference with this park is there isnt any standing water after rainfall which makes a world of difference.
Very cool trails. Nothing to exciting to look at, but its a nice trail to walk or bike.
Bring a telescope and see the view from the scenic overlook walk miles of trails
Great dog park. Friendly people and dogs.
My dogs always have a great time here; when you go in the spring thru fall there are plenty of great doggie-blazed trails through all the brush in the middle. Theres also huge open spaces for them to run out their energy, and a trail for humans to walk with their dogs. Most of the people who come here are also very considerate and pick up after their dogs.
Spacious nice green park
Super forest preserve! Lots of really nice trails to walk bike etc. Fun to go up to the observation area! Amazing vantage point for photos. Park staff were friendly and helpful as well. Extremely clean portable toilets :D bonus points for that!
Very nice place for parties. Near and clean.
Great place to walk, jog or ride your bike, very serene
Just gorgeous! Well maintained trails. Great for biking or walking
Pretty nice and calm.
Nice local youth camping. Suggest reviewing the locations of the potty houses (KYBOs) as depending on the site number it could be a significant hike. Careful with camping in the warmer months as the mosquitoes can be the dominant species on the food chain. Site was very well maintained as was the firewood supply.
Nice trails. They are well marked. Road through with my street bike without issue. Got to see someone out on their horse. You can drive there and park then walk the trails.
Drive to the top of the observation hill during the summer months for a cool view!
Great views of the western burbs and if it’s a clear day...you can see the skyline from up here! Keep in mind, it’s only open weekends from May to October.
Nice little forest preserve that you can walk the entire trail in less than an hour. Its one of my favorite places to visit.
Nice place but very hot in summer
I really love this space, but omigosh the mosquitos. Could you do an intervention...please?
Hidden gem awesome dog friendly Forest preserve
Fantastic hiking trail!
Nice view of Chicago skyline
Great trails, wild flowers are blooming, lots of phlox. And lots of mosquitoes!
I went for a walk with my dog. There are 2 main trails to choose from. One is about 2 miles and the other is about 2.5 miles. These trails connect to other trails as well.its beautiful and relaxing.
Lots of different well maintained trails
Small, but very clean. I prefer to go just before dark, when it isnt as crowded
Beautiful view and great place for grill
Fantastic bike/running/walking trails
Nice bike paths
Great area for a shaded on the west side and lots of trails. Easy navigation as most trailers are a loop. The All Trails app has a good map digitally also. The observation hill is really incredible when you get up there. Its the highest point around and great for flying a kite. There is a Beautiful view of Chicago and surrounding areas. Its a nice bike ride to the top and pretty challenging. Be careful riding down the gravel road. Rocks can easily slip out from your tires and cause a crash. Enjoy
Pretty cool pace to camp in fall- nice trails even for night hikes. Feels further away from Chicago than Naperville
Perfect trails for walking, hiking, dog walking, biking, and running. East side is mostly through open prairie along the DuPage River;west side is mostly through woods and savanna.
Went on a sundown hike here with the DuPage Forest Preserve District staff. Beautiful views!
I walk the all the time with my family
Just great place.
Nice and clean trails and dog friendly
Best off leash dog park in the suburbs!
Nice little dog park. Full of nice dogs and people.
It was a new hiking experience for me and I enjoyed the serenity and tranquility of this place looking forward to spring to enjoy more of the awesome views from the hill.
We went here for camping with the Cub scouts and the kids really enjoyed it. I believe you can only go camping here with a youth group. There are restroom facilities for both men and women, basically urinals and stalls (with no doors) with a hole for waste, no plumbing. There was running water though at a spigot. There was plenty of space for our tents and the area was well kept and clean. The parking lot has ample space and the walk to the campgrounds is about 2 to 5 minutes depending on which site you are camping at. Overall we had a great time time here and would come again.
Nice well maintained. Dogs require registration.Too many come without a tag with wild dogs
A great place for fresh air and exercise, dog friendly!
Quiet and bucolic
Love the place not the company
Great place
Very great views. And the trails are a decent width that bikers pass on the left easily.
Great set trails to walk the dogs. Spacious enough for space to walk a reactive dog around people.
Good park for a walk!
Very nice dog park. One small section for smaller dogs and a larger area for larger dogs. Stations for poop bags and co-located garbage cans. My pup (10 months) got over excited at times and barked a lot. But everybody was understanding.
360° view, cool breeze and not many visitors. Good for an hour of viewing, photography and playing with kids
Youth campground are spacious and great trails to hike
You can see the Chicago down town when sky clear. There is telescope you can see around the place and forest gard for your help.
Amazing views we went right before they shut it down for the year. Friendly bird watchers at the top!
Great dog park
Fun place with moderate to easy hiking. Occasional deer sightings but very nice and clean. Easy to get lost.
Best place to have great overview of the neighborhood
Very nice area. Attended for cub scout outing. Clean, nice paths. Beautiful.
This is one of the many fantastically well-maintained forest preserves in DuPage County, with many path options, parking lots in convenient areas, and plenty of natural beauty. Though it is close by to two relatively busy streets (75th Street and Route 53), there are few issues regarding noise pollution. I recommend carrying or having a map of the preserve at hand, as some of the twists and turns of the paths may disorient newcomers.
Lots of room! Awesome trail! Respectful dog owners.
Very large and well maintained dog park. Best I have been to.
I absolutely love bringing my dog here. She is medium sized, so she going in the large and small dog area. The dogs and people are very friendly. I love the trail, where we can practice walking off the leash. This place is always clean and it is so well kept.
Very nice people who go here, havent had a problem with any other dog, and no one runs away from my little pitbull which is a great thing to see as people judge him for his breed. There are a ton of bugs however so I strongly recommend using bug spray before you go.The reason why this place gets a 3 out of 5 is because of the car break ins during daylight. Theres enough rangers around to fine people for not having their permits on them but not enough to make sure people arent breaking into cars in their parking lot?! Thats ridiculous and they havent done much about it except send out an email telling people to keep valuables out of your case just in case it happens to you... Thats not ok. They should increase patrol there it just focus patrol there until the people are apprehended or deterred away.
Fun and easy trail to bike
Great scenery, plenty of routes to take (depending on how much free time you have you can take anything from a 2 mile walk/run or a 7 mile walk/run).
An absolutely wonderful place to spend a day alone, with the family or with your pets. Picturesque landscape and miles of trails will keep you busy and healthy. Clean restrooms and fresh well water are an added bonus to the already grand experience that is, Greene Valley Forest Preserve. Take some time and visit. You wont be sorry...
This place is great i love running here my dog has a blast here and overall nice place
Used lot 10 to camp out with our scout pack. Area was clean. Multiple fire pits. Water was easily accessible. Restrooms were very nice and clean. My only grip (which is nick picking), is the camp grounds were just a little narrow. Kids ran into tents while playing. But overall great camping grounds.
