This park has some great trails for running and easy hiking. Its primarily a dog park so keep in mind there are dogs all over. For dog owners, this is by far the best place to take your dog for exercise and interaction in town. Lots of space for them to run and a dedicated off leash area. Most of the park is on leash, but most people allow their dogs off leash. All seem very well behaved so it doesnt bother me, but something to keep in mind in case you are skittish around dogs. Overall one of my favorite places for an easy trail run!
This park has a nice variety of trails. You can stick to the gently sloped main trails or veer off onto some steep hills. It doesnt have any tree coverage, so it can get pretty hot. Be sure to bring water & youll enjoy a peaceful hike.
Great place for a little run! With or without a dog. But if you do have a dog, this will be their favorite place in Napa. Plenty of room to run and make new friends.
I took my two grandchildren for a walk there to enjoy the park and dogs. Unfortunately most dog owners did not pick up after their dogs and there was dog mess everywhere.Alittle consideration of those of us who enjoy the walk without the treats left behind by your pups would be appreciated.
Alston Park is a Great Place for Dogs. Both of my dogs have been going to the Park since they were 4 months old. If I say Dog Park they go to where the leashes are and impatiently wait. ALSTON PARK is their Backyard.
Love going here. Compares to point Isabelle in Richmond and parking is better.
Awesome place for you and your pooch. There is a faucet and drinking bowl for dogs in the middle of the park, off leash park is pretty decent size and lots of fruit-bearing trees along the trail. Highly recommend.
Great place to hike and take the dogs! If you like plum trees, they have about 8 different types of plum trees in the dog park that are stacked full of plums just waiting to be snacked on before they all fall to the ground. Highly recommend this place for everyone, especially dog lovers and fruit fanatics! Lolz. Cheers
Great place to take your furry (dogs) friends.
Alston park is a great place to bring your dogs and kids. It as a beautiful scenery in the all through the year but is dry in summer. There are ticks so be careful in tall grass.my dog loves this park and will run around in joy. In spring and summer large amounts of caterpillars hang out in the trees and make webs, it is mesmerizing. I highly recommend this park.
Beautiful views of the valley. Some nice picnic spots and a water spigot for the pups.
Pretty views and plenty of room to explore. This park offers steep hills for a good cardio workout to open areas to sit and relax. I walked with my dog but I saw areas that was good for bikes too.
OPEN AIR, WIDE PATHS, DOG FRIENDLY, BIKE AND HORSE FRIENDLY, AND STUNNING SUNSETS .
Alston Park is our favorite place to go for a walk with our dog or a walk with grandkids. It is well taken care of and very convenient.
Do as much of the hike as you can, and ABSOLUTELY head down by the river. Stunning. We spent an hour walking the trail altogether this morning! A really great option for those looking to get some fresh air.
Great place to have some smoke and hang️
Beautiful. Can get crowded on the weekends. Wear your mask and practice social distancing, and itll be ok.
Always my favorite spot when Im in Napa
This is a lovely trail up and down hills with great views of the vineyards and the nearby town. The 2-3 mile trail branches off in several places, but its very easy to find your way back. There are many random benches and even a picnic table. There will be dogs without leashes, even in the areas where a leash is required and there are water bowls for the dogs as well. There are not very clean portables instead of a bathroom. Not wheelchair accessible and you may be able to get an all-terrain stroller in here but you need to have some really good muscles to get it up these hills. It was pretty muddy too, so bring your boots!
Happy dog park place. Good gopher chasing in the dog park. Nice kiddie pools for water dogs. Friendly regulars. Well behaved dogs. Also nice trails outside the fenced dog park.
Nice place to take the dogs! Great trails!
Beautiful well kept!
Most all visitors had a dog with them. Very few dog owners kept their dogs on leash in the designated must be on leash areas.
Wonderful grounds for my dog to be off-leash. We both get to exercise and socialize! Area is very well kept and we feel safe.
Lil dogs and big dogs mix. Im over protected thus lil bit was no lil dogs played with him, because they joined the big dog gate.
Great place for a walk, great for dogs.
My dogs sanity and mine rely on this place. For a happy dog visit Alston.
This is a great spacious dog park. I love the off leash area & so does my dog.
Some trails are overgrown and if you plan on bringing your dog, be prepared to deal with fox tails. The layout feels great to navigate. Several outer and inner loops. There is an on leash loop with plenty of trails and intermediate shade. The off leash area lacks shade but is loaded with plenty of friendly dogs.
Nice dog friendly park with multiple trails.
Very nice place for anyone to walk their dogs.
Nice for walks
Nice place for a walk and a lot of people take their dogs
Great place for hiking in the Napa. Park in the upper lot, less people. My wife and I went on a hot day in mid-July. I bet this place is amazing in the spring when everything is green.
Beautiful area. Secure place for a dog.
Beautiful open area to walk. Can see entire Napa Valley from upper areas. Benches to sit and rest . Dog park on south end of park. Paved parking at both ends of park (both off Dry Creek Rd)
Hidden gem of a park/hiking trails. Parking is easy; small lot at the bottom and usually plenty of street parking. You can bring dogs if they are on leash. At the top you can branch off onto several other trails and there are benches along the way to rest (no running water so bring your own). Both mountains have beautiful views of the Napa valley and surrounding areas. You can spot lots of wildlife like turkey vultures, lizards, etc. This is a great place to come for a short 30 minute hike or half day hike if you want to explore the whole place.
The best Healthclub ever. No fees, No ceiling. Big sky, fresh air, surrounding views of Napa Valley vineyards, hills & distant Mount Diablo. Alston Park is a gift to us all.
Love this park, visited often when I lived in Napa.
These various paths all require ascending and descending. Surfaces are muddy or slippery after a rain, though.
Truly one my most favorite places in Napa. Its so beautiful and the views are amazing
A place where nature meets imagination, ups and downs, twists and turns. The trails take you away from the normalcies of life. You get lost in a little slice of heaven, trees swath you in varying light and shadow. Swallowing you into a a cornucopia of serenity and blissfulness. Get swept away...
Some people dont know how to control their dogs.
Great park for dogs and jogging.
Alston Park is a wonderful open area for walking and walking dogs!
Large, quiet and full of nice people. Great for a short walk or a lingering trip throughout all of the trails the park has to offer.
My dog loves it.
Good place to walk dogs
Nice park for walking - kinda small for mountain biking. Nice views of Napa valley and beautiful and green in April.
Good small hike
Great place for a run and to let your dogs have fun!
Nice park, mostly used by locals for exercise and dog-walking. You can get a decent little hike/workout here by taking all of the criss-crossing trails, and the creek is great in the Spring. The varied terrain and mostly mellow hills are great for a beginning mountain biker (like myself). Its also just a short walk up the hill for some nice views of the valley.
Best off leash dog park
A good place to take the dogs out b
Beautiful uphill trails. Get to the top for some breathtaking views of the city of Napa.
Big open area to run, take your dog or go horseback riding. Also has picnic tables, benches, and bathroom facilities.
Trail hogs everywhere.
The dog areas are great bring your dog or dogs and the family
Great place to take the dogs with both leashed and unleashed areas as well as separate sections for large dogs and small ones. They have water available there and typically the will also be a bowl for your pet to drink from is you happen to forget your own. They also provide plastic bags to clean up after your pets. Nice shady areas with benches in the lower gated sections for you to relax a bit as your dogs run and play. One thing to keep in mind is that it is all dirt and scrubland, so it is quite dusty. Be prepared with some wipes for each cleanup of foot wear before entering your vehicle.
Nice little park to go for a walk in, nothing special really. But Im glad its here.
Very nice park. It has a long trail that you can take a nice long walk on. It also has a playground area, picnic area, basketball area, baseball area, and many other areas.
Great for hiking.
Fantastic for giving dogs an off leash romp in nature.
Scenic and pretty
Great hiking trail. Many bring their dogs along into several acres of beautiful trails. Many watering spots set up by the park for yourself and your pet. There iare two dog parks one for large dogs and the other for small dogs if you wish your pet to have some play time.
Great place to take your dog, on or off leash. Two fenced enclosures and a huge off leash area. Trails can be muddy after rain, so wear your boots. Beautiful wild flowers in the Spring! A great spot to watch balloons land in the morning.Be sure to lock your car doors and do not leave valuables in sight.
Fabulous park for various levels of walking & hiking with your dogs off leash. Dogs love it!
Great place for a quick walk you can bring you dog also. It takes about an hour to go all the way around.
Cool place to walk and get exercise. Nice trails
I think this is a great dog park. Its big with a large off-leash area. There are a lot of dogs and theyre all friendly. Its a great place if you want to let your dog outside and just be a dog.
Its an open grassland type of park. When the grass is green in the spring is when the park is at its prettiest. Picturesque views, especially looking to the north. The park has two parking areas, one on each end of the park. The southside parking lot is close to the dog off leash area, use the north parking lot for a little less congestion of cars, people and dogs.Dogs can be a problem sometimes, some people unleash them in the leash only areas.
Great local park for running and walking, but the trails are confusing and there’s no good map. The trailhead painted maps have no directional guidance or specifics so they’re not useful.
Fun place to take fluffy
Best place for morning walks and taking pets! Dont forget that if your gonna bring a bike checkout the cool dirt park in the far right side of the park!
Great spot but be weary of burrs and fox tails. Otherwise beautiful and peaceful
Such an amazing dog park! Lots of dogs for them to run with and plenty of space in which to do it.
It is the best place to walk dogs off leash. It has great views of the Napa Valley and everyone using the park are the nicest people. Responsible and kind. Even the other dogs are laid back and well behaved.
This is a fun place for an evening hike in the Napa Valley. Theres also a dog park here which accommodates both small and large dogs with a fun space to play off leash.
