This is really nice park, contiguous with Jockey Hollow, lots of trails, lake, ball fields and dog park. Trails allow mountain biking which is great, but when hiking you got to stay on your toes.

Great trails to hike. We hiked the yellow trail and enjoyed it. Trails are mostly well marked. A few places where it can get confusing but download a map prior and youll be good. Would definitely visit again and explore the other trails available.

Good place for a nice MTB ride and to practice for when you go hit those gnarlier trails. The trails have gotten pretty washed out over the summer but they are still a fun ride. Just be careful as there are some hikers.

One of the nicer parks in north Jersey with walking trails for everyone. It also borders Jockey Hollow historic site. Features a swimming pond with paddle boats and wildlife is amazing.

Well maintained mtb trails but they can be a little boring and the drainage can leave something to be desired, especially in the switchbacks. The rest of the park is quite nice.

BEARS! I grew up in the neighborhood and I have never seen bears on the trails until today. I saw two bears today while I was trail running. Harmless but still very frightening when you see them popped out on the trail. Besides that, trails are great, great for novice hikers and kids. Just talk very loud to scare the bears and stay on ONE path to avoid getting lost, the trails will connect you to the same spot you started (for first-timers).

Great park, plenty of parking, short or long trails depending on your desired activity level. Most of them have some grades to them, a bit of uphill or downhill, but nothing too difficult. The trails are marked, but slightly more clearer marking would be great.Theres a small lake as well with a beach area that didnt seem too crowded during our visit, but the trails are what we focused on, and they were absolutely empty. Very peaceful.

Very nice park to go biking of hiking in. Terrain gets into a bit of hills but nothing unmanageable. Some basic facilities exist. Would not be my first choice for swimming though, the swim area is just laughably small.

Review №26

I come for the mountain biking. Good network of trails that become more enjoyable as you learn how they connect around the park. Not super-challenging, but theres lots of climbing to be had, depending on which way you head, and there are spots that will be difficult for beginners. My biggest complaint is that there are a couple sections with gravel that are hard to avoid, even if youre trying to stick to the single-track... and I hate riding, especially climbing, on gravel.

This is an incredible park with lots to do. It has many walking paths that hookup to both Jockey Hollow (the National Park) and the countys Patriot Path trail system. There is a place to swim and to fish. My favorite are the trails. My dog could spend hours there.

I mountain bike a lot around New Jersey and it has some of the best trails to ride. It has a great mix of flowing and technical trails but it is all what you make it. Its a beautiful park as well with a lot of space and things to do.

One of my favorite local parks. Great mountain biking trails, picnic areas, and a beach at Sunrise Lake. The beach facilities will cost you if you choose that option. Easy access to Patriots Path. Plenty of wildlife to observe, so keep your eyes out for bears in the fall. A few years ago I had a close encounter with a mother bear and cubs.

This was a very nice park. I drove up from south Jersey to go geocaching. I parked and walked across the road to get to the South side. Lots of trails to hike on. Some wide and some narrow. There is a elevation gain and loss though the park, to the trails are easy to moderate. Very peaceful and clean. Got to watch out for mountain bikes. There are lots of them and they go flying by. There are no outhouses at the parking, but found one by the camp ground. I did not look at the side on the other side of the lake, so there might be more facilities there. Great place to go to hike or bike.

Really beautiful park with short trails that take you through all sorts of nice terrain. A little nerdy, but I loved how many species of trees there were to look at and identify. Connects to patriots path and the 160 mile trail theyre putting in from Jersey City to the Delaware Water Gap.

We rented a shelter here for a party. The area was clean and quiet, overall I was very happy with location and the park is beautiful.A few suggestions though, finding the right shelter can be confusing as I only saw the identifing letter on a very small plaque nailed to a tree.Reserving the shelter was a challenge as it was not available to reserve online and no one answered the phone when I called several times. I ended up having to drive on my lunch to Morris County Parks office and reserve it in person. I would like to point out everyone was very nice at their office.

Wonderful park, full of fun nature things to do.Theres a small lake with a beach and picnic area, several geo-cache stashes, several brooks, a camp site, and plenty of trails. Everything is well maintained. If you like mountain biking and are looking for a good workout, this is a wonderful place to build up your stamina and skill. Theres a variety of technical difficulty (smooth fire roads, rooty climbs, and a few basic rock gardens). There are some fairly steep hills, but nothing crazy. If youre just starting out in mountain biking, you can either take it easy on the climbs (use that slow gear) or consider a park with milder climbs, such as Six Mile Run in Franklin Township.

A wonderful park with great trails from easy to challenging with hills and roots. I do find it disarming when the trails are changed, blocked access and rerouted. I also am concerned with the hunters who are lurking in the woods with weapons, even though they are supposed to stay away from the trails. They will be there 6 months.
