What a fun theatre. Locally owned, one screen. Get there early and grab a recliner.
Really cool downtown one screen theater. Max, the owner-manager, is a hoot. You can have popcorn, candy and soda, of course, but also beer and wine. The front two rows of the theater are recliners. Come early if you want to sit in them. The theater has nice upholstered seats, too, but the recliners are a hedonistic delight.
I have always had the best of experiences at this theater. The only complaint I have is when they let the kids in. This is a place for adults!!! Please don’t ruin our experience and the only place we can go with no crying babies or kids running around and talking. I love this theater!!!Thanks for remaining open for us adults that enjoy “our time”.
This is a great one screen theater! The first couple rows of seating are recliners. The are comfortable but kind of close together. The movie starts promptly at the times stated, 2, 6 & 8 pm. The staff is friendly. There are light concessions but the theater serves beer and wine! Not a place you would bring young children, all of the movies Ive seen advertised are rated PG-13 or R. I would recommend this as a cool little spot to check out with friends or if youre on a date downtown.
Fun place for wine and a movie. Easy-going owner lets you run a tab. Dont forget to pay him for your wine and popcorn as you depart!
Small single screen theater. A bit pricey, but worth it. Besides the usual popcorn and soft drinks, they sell beer and wine. I definitely will be back...
My only complaint is one with myself, because i hate how long i waited to visit this place. Went today for the first time and it was awesome. The owner was really laid back and an obvious film buff, i enjoyed talking about various movies with him before the movie started. The small venue is personal and inviting, the owner makes you feel like a regular as soon as you step inside. Oh and the concession system is an absolute breeze. The prices are great across the board as well, from now on if there is a movie i plan on seeing I’ll be watching it here. This place is a gem.
This is the crown jewel of Mobile. Seriously, this is the greatest thing in our city. Privately & passionately run by a true cinephile. The feeling of seeing a great show there, and stepping out into the hanging street lights... nothing beats it
I love the way the owner introduces the movie and tells you about some of the cast and director. There is a variety of movie snacks and it includes wine and beer. A truly delightful place to see a movie.
Oh man if you want to see a great movie go here and ask Max. Awesome guy hes always showing the best in his theater, I was there a couple of weeks ago and I saw 1917. One of the best movies Ive ever seen. It kept me on the edge of my seat with the action but was a bit of a tear jerker too. PARASITE is currently playing there and imma try my hardest to go see it in his theater. One last thing if you get there early you can get the recliner seats that are in the front theyre super comfy.
I love this place. It seems it was reborn through the work of a lot of work from the local community. It has recliners down front and normal seating up behind them. You can get beer and wine as well as the concessions you find everywhere.
Great old theater downtown. They have a few recliners so get there early. You can have a beer or wine with the movie.
Theres nothing like seeing a good film on a big screen. I implore you to help support a local staple of the arts such as this, the feel of this small theatre is like nothing youll get from a commercial venue.
Came here for Captain Marvel. Even though it was crowded in the lobby for a minute it was very roomy in the actual theater.Prices are not much different from up the way. Staff is super nice and helpful. Bathrooms are clean and maintained. And for the adults, they have booze!
This is a sweet little theater. I enjoyed myself. Its like a Mom and Pop Theater. It has only one movie screen there. You can purchase snacks, sodas, popcorn, DVDs and you can buy alcoholic beverages. Theres also a front row of recliner chairs. But I think you have to get there early to be able to try and get one of those bad boys lol. The service is awesome! Very sweet people are at your services. Great communication! The only thing that I wish was different is if they wouldnt play one movie for so many weeks long. I understand that the movie may be good and some people may not get out to see it the 1st or 2nd week. But it would be great (because its only one screen) if they could play a different movie every other week at least. Or maybe even every two weeks. Because furthermore, Im waiting for them to finally switch it up and change the movie in order to go again to this specific theater.
Comfy recliner seats, love going to see rocky horror there during halloween!
An independent movie theater in downtown Mobile! Must experience this regularly. First to have recliners in front, and an adult beverage selection. Supporting the community so well, hosting local film festivals, special showings as fundraisers, hanging local art, selling artist-made recycled notebooks + more. Like popcorn n candy. Operator Max Morey is an asset and great person. Bravo! Support locally run.
Great historic downtown theater. Small but loaded with charm and friendly faces. Movie schedules available at Fandango, must see
Wonderful intimate venue
Incredible, historic theater in downtown Mobile. Awesome staff, very personable. We look forward to seeing whatever eclectic film they have showing when we are in town.
This is a cool little independent movie house that shows a variety of films -- some big-time releases, some lesser-known, small productions. Laid-back place where you can enjoy a glass of wine or a beer with your movie. Right in the heart of LoDa, so a great date-night venue.
The Crescent Theatre is a MUST on your trip to Mobile. This quaint, locally owned Independent theatre is just the best place to see a film. You’ll feel right at home with that southern hospitality. Just saw Rocketman, lounged in the recliners and enjoyed every moment. Plenty of beer, wine and soft drinks to wash down the popcorn and candy.
No better place to see a movie. We saw Downton Abbey here and loved it. Concessions are better here too.
I had a great experience here. Enjoyed a few craft beers ($5 per), my wife enjoyed some wine. The recliners were SO comfortable. And the picture quality and sound were not lacking anything. I will be back.
The crescent theater never disappoints. We absolutely love the place and all the movie selections.
Awesome experience. Glad we went. Host was awesome as well! A must go, especially if ur staying downtown. Near the square and all the restaurants/bars.
Cool little locally owned theater in old downtown Mobile. They show one film at a time, and the place has a chill vibe.
A wonderful small theater in the heart of downtown Mobile. Get there early to get one of the squishy recliners!
Great venue for the movie! Friendly atmosphere and staff welcoming.
Love this sweet home Alabama theater in the heart of downtown Mobile. 2:00 matinee then stride down to Haberdasher for Happy Hour!
Went to see Bohemian Rhapsody on opening night. I didnt even know this place existed, it just happened to be across the street from the restaurant I had dinner at.Great seating, way better than I expected. Cleaner than any theater Ive visited in probably 20 years. The owner came out and talked to the audience before the show; hes clearly passionate about cinema, and loves what he does.I simply cannot recommend this place enough.
Quaint little theater on Dauphin Street. Clean, quiet. Really decent prices for the movie and snacks.
Its was packed! Great movie. Make sure to come early and pre buy tickets got full fast!
I went to crescent theater to go to The Rocky horror picture show! Its a little small, but The Rocky horror picture show feels more traditional, so I felt more at home. It was pretty clean, and the seats were comfortable!
Our only local art-house cinema! I love the Crescent and their range of quality films. The staff knows their movies, and there is always an introduction before each film. They show limited previews of coming attractions, which is also nice. Beer, Wine, snacks and popcorn. Ge there early if you want to snag a recliner.
Great selection of movies. Very fair pricing on concessions. Nostalgic feel. We always have a great night out at Crescent. You should go.
This is a great little independent theater in downtown Mobile. Max and crew does a fantastic job! Go catch a movie there!
Very cool place in the middle of LODA. If you live in Mobile you have to experience it! Go early and grab coffee at Serdas or have a meal at the local restraunts. If you are in a hotel Downtown Mobile- take a walk to it!
I. Love this quaint little theater. I hope it never closes.
GREAT theater! My husband and I go to this theater every time we are in Mobile. It is so nostalgic, comfortable, and the shows are always delightful. It is so nice to step back in time to simpler things like this wonderful little theater.... a breath of fresh air! We love to take our grandchildren there also.
The shows here are fantastic and amusing. The crew is wacky and fun and always makes you feel like you belong. The theater is always clean and tidy. Drinks are served cold and popcorn is always made fresh. Highly recommend you see a show here.
Lovely placeGreat atmosphereDefinitely going to be backHope the place has many years to come
Great little theatre showing independent films you wont find elsewhere. Good beer and wine selection. Love the staff.
Awesome. Just Awesome!! I will be back and bring others with me. Amazing service!!
A local favorite, drink some booze and watch a movie. Great place.
Love the vintage atmosphere and the excellent service. Thank you for such quality.
We watched A Star is Born at the Crescent Theater! It was the best movie experience you could have! Max, the owner is so much fun and makes you feel right at home. When you are in Mobile, check this place out!
I cannot stress enough how much I love this place. Between the absurdly cheap price point and the showcase of quality films, this locally owned single screen theatre is an intimate and unique experience. I recommend showing up early enough to claim one of the armchair seats in the first two rows, then kicking back with a beer or wine, as this venue also includes adult beverages in their refreshment selection.
We love this beautiful little lower Dauphin Street downtown theater! It is clean, quaint and provides a unique experience. So nice to be able to sit back and enjoy a wine and a movie while out on the town!
Small theatre. Looks great but very limited showings and not often open. Call before you go even if it is listed as open. We never got in but had to look through the windows. The times on the door said it was open but there was a note on the door with a phone number to call.
Great little theater . We saw the Rocky Horror Picture show . Its a cool little place in the middle of dauphin street. I did like buying tickets ahead online. I will be back.
What a great way to see movies. Its a small venue with lots of charm and a live mc. If you get there early, you can get one of the super cushy recliners on the front row.
“Those Recliners!”My husband and I saw Sully at the Crescent Theater last week, and it was a terrific experience. The movie was great, but the theater itself is really marvelous. Lots of drink and snack options, huge comfortable recliners (in the front two rows -- get there early to snag one) and even blankets.
Such a fantastic hidden gem of Mobile! I would rather drive downtown to see movies at Crescent than deal with large box theatres anywhere else! Highly recommended
Enjoyed seeing a movie here however the individual selling tickets was rude.
Great place to see a movie and support a small local business. Arrive early to claim your recliner! Grab drinks and snacks during the movie and pay afterwards!
Great little theatre with beer, wine, and other selections as well as popcorn. Get there early and you can sit in a recliner.
Fantastic staff. Came out for a Mardi Gras showing of Rocky Horror and was impressed beyond belief. Everyone should go see for themselves!
I absolutely LOVE this theater! The lobby is always covered in awesome posters, the guys who own it are completely sweet and amazing. The theater is always, always clean and the most comfortable seats you can imagine. Helpful hint: get there about a half hour before the show and you might be able to sit in the amazing front row recliners! The regular seats are comfortable as well, but those recliners are to die for. Excellent movies are shown always, this theater is a gem and worth coming back to again and again.
Such a cozy experience when I go to the Crescent. No frills, down-to-Earth movie experience. I enjoy the intimacy of the theater and have always been stimulated by the movie selection. Great local favorite.
I went there a few years back when The Help came out and the owner was very gracious to me when I came in the theater. I have wanted to come back but plan to next week.
We had an amazing time. Loved the drinks and popcorn. The feel of the Crescent Theater was amazing. Very quaint and lively at the same time. Cant wait to go again.
Historic theater located in Downtown Mobile. Very simple, as it only has one showing room, but the experience is fantastic. The owners take the time to know their patrons and are very knowledgeable about the theaters history and the movies they choose to show. Great beverage selection as well.
We saw Rocky Horror last night, had a great time! Brought back memories and enjoyed getting in the mood with our costumes. The cast and employees were great!!! Loved the place!
Love the layout... The theater was a nice surprise. Glad I stopped in.
Great little one screen theater downtown. Friendly staff will sometimes talk to the audience about the movie before the show. If the is no attendant, beverages are on the honor system.
I love, love the Crescent, but God I wish they would quit playing A Star is born. Its running too long..I was exited to see the Dames movie, and then back to this...ugh..
Great customer service, you wont find anywhere else! One of a kind place.
A great little theatre. The seating is situated in such a way that any seat is a good seat. It serves wine and beer as well as the regular fare. The films it shows are always good.
We have so much fun here - the movie selection is an excellent mix of quirky, art house, indie and the occasional mega blockbuster. PLUS it is a locally-owned small business in DOWNTOWN Mobile. PLUS you can purchase and consume adult beverages while watching the movie. If you want a vibrant scene support your local business. See movies at the Crescent!
Love the Crescent Theater and Yesterday was a great movie!
I love the Crescent. I go every time the films change because it doesnt matter what is playing, all the films that show at the Crescent are high quality. Its independently owned by someone who knows and loves movies. Its a real pleasure to see a film at the Crescent because all of the other attendees are there for the film, not to chatter, text or cause other distractions. A bag of popcorn, a Dr. Pepper, a terrific film - my treat to myself!
Clean, comfortable and a great host. Ive truly enjoyed all the movies that Ive seen there. They not only have candy and popcorn but also adult beverages available.
I go here multiple times a year for The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Wonderful theatre and cool atmosphere..
Not bad for a hole in the wall movie theater. Alcohol even better
Fun place to come watch a movie, owners are great, popcorn is nice and salty/buttery.
Fun! Oh, and they were selling and drinking beer in there too! Ahhhh and they had stadium seating and mmmm.... I DID NOT like the new Mary Poppins, but movie aside we liked the Crescent Theater because it reminded us of Theaters in 1964 when we saw the GOOD (first and only; really) Mary Poppins. Soooo.... SeE MOVIES at the Crescent Theater, 208 Dauphin St, Mobile, AL 36602 and reminisce days GONE when If you invest your tuppence wisely in the bank, safe and sound, soon that tuppence, safely invested in the bank, will compound! And youll achieve that sense of conquest, as your affluence expands! In the hands of the directors, who invest as propriety demands! Ha!!! Th... Tha... Thats ALL FOKLS!!!!
Very nice experience, small pre-megaplex theater
Excellent atmosphere and the owner is amazing. You wont find a better theater experience than this! If you have the opportunity to catch a movie here, dont pass it up!
Owner was helpful and informative. Movie was great!
We were a little late getting to the movie. The fellow told us to hurry and pay when we left. He also said to get whatever concessions we wanted and pay later. Wild. Quaint. Fun.
Excellent selection for one screen local film theater.
Always a treat to see a movie here. I love being welcomed and having the movie introduced by a real person. Thank you Mobile for helping to keep the Crescent Theater open.
Awesome movie. Authentic old theater
Love the recliners !
My husband and I love this place. Its pretty cool. This small movie theatre has lounge chairs and a hige variety of beer and wine to enjoy your movie with.
Love the quaint, downtown setting and the friendly, hands on owner.
Really cool theater, any theater that serves beer and wine is A-OK in my book.
Such a treasure to have in our community! Thete is nothing like seeing a movie and having it introduced by an awesome human.
Very cozy and quaint. It felt much more comfortable than a large theater
Best arthouse cinema and theater around. Nice recliners in the first few rows(blankets available). Good beer selection.
Cool theater. Saw Going In Style here while finishing off two Coronas. Try doing that anywhere else in this city!
Everytime I have been to the Crescent, it has been an experience. I love that someone always introduces the film and tells you a bit about it. There are recliners up front, if you can get to the show early enough. Also provided: AIRPLANE BLANKETS!!! I am always cold in the theater...so this is AWESOME in my book. Also, if you need anything during the movie, help yourself and you can square up as you leave. Did I mention that the prices were ridiculously reasonable? It is an incredible, incredible place that we are so very lucky to have in Mobile.
This was amazing! Great experience! Cannot wait to go back!
Bar none the most unique and enjoyable movie expience available. No beginning ads, no long trailers before the movie starts, just a very passionate owner introducing the film in person. Go early pick a theatre recliner up front and prepare to enjoy yourself immensely
My favorite place to see movies around. Great selection, delightful atmosphere, clean accomodations and the nicest people. Not to forget their great pop-corn. One of my favorite places.
Charming place, no previews
