I just noticed that they sold a Monet for over 10 million, no provenance is mentioned. WTF is going on Live Auctioneers?
So disappointed to see that you are auctioning off a stolen work by the artist Banksy. It doesnt belong to you or the person who broke off the wall and imported it to the US. Do the right thing and decline the auction?
These people should be ashamed of themselves for auctioning off something that was stolen from the street in Wood Green in London and smuggled into Miami. Im referring to the auction of Slave Labour, by Banksy. It might not be illegal, but the words immoral and unethical come to mind.
This auction house deals in work that has shaky provenance. BOTH Banksy works in the next auction are removed from their public presentation which a. puts the ownership of the art (not the walls) into question and b. makes the piece no longer a Banksy. The context of the work is what makes it the work. Just becuase you cut a piece out of a Monet it doesnt make it able to be sold ehtically as a Monet.
Nothing
Return the Banksy (Slave Labour) to north London. Shame.
