One of my favorite thing to do is go on extreme hikes that require jumping between borders. Likely enough this park has just that. From the fishing area past the light house youll find boulders. The best part of the park with lots of shade you will find by entrance to the fishing path. The sunsets here are breathtaking too.

A fantastic spot! Walk across the narrow boardwalk through the dunes and soon youll hit the sand! A lot of the shoreline in this area is made up of smaller rocks, so a great place for skipping stones, finding beach glass, or just collecting really interesting looking pebbles. Beautiful Mentor Headlands Lighthouse is to your east, take a picture!

Beautiful park. Lake shore was a bit challenging to walk in places because of the rocks. We did not get to visit the lighthouse because of the crowds trying to maneuver the wall over to it. Maybe we will come again!

A solid beach, not the best in Ohio but with Lake Erie you cant expect much more. Sunsets are always pretty here, rain or shine. The light house is nice looking too. This is a good place for a date.

A nice public beach on Lake Erie, about 40 minutes east of Cleveland. Be prepared for a long walk to reach the water, there is several hundred feet of sand between the parking lots and the water.Head to the light house break wall if you feel like taking a walk. Be polite, someone owns the light house.FYI, this beach has no lifeguards.

The most important thing that I wanted to share was that you can walk the breakwater up to the lighthouse. It is a rocky but short walk, and gives you a great closeup view. Beautiful space.

Review №10

This is a place that you can go and look at the beautiful Fairport Harbor Lighthouse West breakwater! If you plan on going out to see it make sure you bring good walking shoes because youll be walking in the sand. To walk out to Lighthouse after this and it is big boulders to climb out on. Yes it does Splash here and there. If you cant make it out there theyre still great places to take pictures. This walk is very challenging. If you have a hard time walking make sure you carry a chair or something. There is a wooden walkway to walk out to the beach only. If you cant walk on sand you can still take the walkway and take pictures of the lighthouse. Yes this is a place to go swimming. There is no cost.

Well kept and a nice area to walk. I always hike through here and head out to the break wall. Very pretty in the spring and fall. Occasionally see the eagles out that are nested over off 44. Fishing spots over by the breakwall. Beautiful views. Good place to relax.

The best beach. There are rocks under foot that a lot of people complain about and thats valid. But I can live with some rocks for clean water and clean sand on a beautiful free beach with plenty ofamenities. The bathrooms were just updated, the food is A+, and theres a lovely boardwalk over beautiful dunes.

A huge beach. Walkway close to the parking lot from one end to the other. Plenty of restrooms. Flush commodes, except in winter they close them down and put up port a potties, and dont keep them clean. Lots of trees for shade there, close to the parking lot. Huge parking lot. 1 snack stand with a concrete pad and seating. On the far right edge of the park is a boardwalk, that takes you thru a field and up to the waters edge. They let plants grow naturally by the walkway for biodiversity and wild life. Very nice beach.

I had no idea this preserve was nestled just east of Headlands Beach. Youll find both sand trails and a beach boardwalk to take in the sights from the recovering dunes. Theres a wooden pavilion to relax in and overlook the lake. On the far East side is a old lighthouse building that serves as a prominent landmark. Note, prts and picnicking are not permitted here! Overall, a great place to relax and enjoy your time on the lake.

The headland dune state park was awesome. The beautiful view was amazing. The view of the lighthouse was remarkably beautiful. It was cold but I still had to put my toes in the sand and water. It was cold but made me smile. The availability of bathrooms are good too. They are open and clean. The only bad thing was the dryer for your hands didnt work. Either way I had a blast and wished to stay longer.

Nice state park with beach access. Crowded in summer usually so get there early if you want a table/bbq grill area as they are first come first serve. Its a walk to the beach from the parking lot so where your shoes on a hot day. No pets on beach. Decent bathroom/changing facilities. Paved path for walking, bikes etc. Open all year round. Definitely worth a visit in the winter to see the way the snow and ice form

Not Dog Friendly ... NO DOGS ALLOWED ... but since I traveled 500 miles to this park, and it wasnt tourist season, I decided to take a sneak preview myself. I walked up to the beginning of the trails (where the sand starts) so that I can see what is hidden behind the trees, and took some photos and turned around. Boy, I kind of wish I didnt, the view was amazing! I really wanted to hike the trails and get closer to the water, and experience and absorb it all in. If you can leave your dogs at home or if you dont have dogs, I recommend visiting this park. The trails are mostly sand, and the view is amazing. Too bad dogs are not allowed.
