We love the Botanical Garden! The family membership is well worth the cost. It pays for itself in no time and you save a decent amount on events and fun things. My 4yo is currently having an absolute blast at one of their summer camps and I got to wander around taking photos of just one corner of the garden. Theres so much to see here. Educational and beautiful. Staff is very friendly too. 5 stars, easy. Id give more if I could.

The best thing about the garden is the Coi pond. It is a nice getaway from all the noise in Memphis. It could use a little more upkeep and directional signs to make sure you dont miss anything or get lost.

Tip: you can bring food to feed the koi fish with! The botanic garden is huge!! We spent about 2+ hours there just walking around. We went in March and there weren’t many things alive, but it was still beautiful.Download the audio app. It was fun listening to the details about the Japanese garden. There was a lot of renovations which is good for the botanic gardens, but I was disappointed that there wasn’t a gift shop. I would love to go after all of the renovations and in later spring. I’m sure it’s gorgeous.

We visited the backyard and it was a total hit with our kids. Were from St. Louis and there are many more variety of hands on kids activities here than at the St. Louis botanical gardens. We happened to visit on a Monday to make mud pies, and it was very well planned out. See pictures for other activities like a row of play houses for kids, a giant spider net to climb, a big sand play area plus not pictured is a water play area, giant earthworms and tunnels, tree house and slide, puppet area, dress up area ...so much for little ones to explore. Note: its real nature play.

The Memphis Botanical Garden is a great place to go and break up some self isolation during covid-19. You can purchase tickets online to do a hands-free transaction. Please be aware that everything is outside and dress accordingly with sunglasses, good shoes, and sunscreen. Please note, that different exhibits change throughout the season. When we went, the different types of daisies and coneflowers were in high bloom as were the canna lilies. Vibrant colors were enjoyed. There are quite a few fountains to sit by and relax, but be aware there is a lot of walking involved.

The Memphis Botanic Gardens is quite an expanse of areas to discover. The landscaping is great and gives plenty of places for nature lovers to explore the variety and complexity of plants. If you have kids, you can share that complexity or uncover dinosaur bones, play in a rainstorm, storm a castle, play house, and much more. You can have a full day as a family exploring all the trails and hidden activities and take home some truly worn out children; bonus!
