My family and I went to play putt putt golf at the theater today. We had the best time! The course was fun! The workers were amazing! It was a once in a life time experience to see everything behind the stage. If you have opportunity to get to Memphis this is a must do!!!
The Orpheum is a nationally recognized historic venue in downtown Memphis. What I love most is that it has still maintained a vintage vibe and feel. No matter if youre attending a play, a concert, a ballet, a comedy show - you name it and it still feels very retro. Definitely a staple here in Memphis. Everyone has attended an event here at least once. Prices are really affordable also!
Ive been twice so far and today was the most MAGICAL! Aladdin is most DEFINITELY worth seeing. I felt like a child again and its so beautifully put together!
Love this beautiful theater in the heart of Downtown Memphis. I always look forward to seeing a show here. Have a nice dinner before or after and get on down to the Orpheum ️
We had an enjoyable evening as we watched Hamilton. The show did not disappoint and enjoyed our time at the Orpheum. Unfortunately with such a large crowd, the venue has poor means of egress and ingress. Perhaps a modernization remodel is in the future.
I love having this theater in Memphis and all the marvelous shows they bring to the city for an reasonable price. The staff is friendly, options for drinks and food are good, but The seat could be definitely more comfortable and I understand they are currently working on this. Keep doing the good work! I would love to see a Flamenco Show in Memphis or Aspen Santa Fe Ballet.
The Orpheum Theatre in Memphis is a beautiful venue. In the heart of downtown right off of Beale Street. There is parking directly across the street for $25. There is also plenty of restaurants close by. The venue itself is clean and is staffed by very professional ushers, ticket takers, security, and box office staff. I appreciated the many different options for beverages, especially the coffee!
Beautiful venue. The friendly staff is always helpful and smiling. As expected in any venue like this, the drinks and snacks are expensive, but again, that should he expected. We watched Harry Potter in Concert and or girls loved it!
I love these old historical buildings, absolutely beautiful inside and out, We go to plays about once a month and theres really not a bed seat in the house
Watched the Hamilton play at the Orpheum Theatre last night. The play was outstanding the facility was grand. Would haven given five stars had the seating had more leg room.
Peace and Love Tour - music from Woodstock - brought back a lot of memories from the 60s.The Orpheum is a great location to enjoy performances not requiring a huge venue. Beautiful decor- classic theater.
The Orpheum Memphis is always a delight and an amazing experience. The beautiful architecture, sound, and overall experience keep me coming back whenever I can.
Was there last night for the Celtic women show it was great as always. I love this theater, It is simply beautiful to look at on the inside with the chandelieres and the gilded walls. Get has a very nostalgic feel to it, My only complaint is that the seats seem to be crammed together it would be nice to have a little bit more Room to spread out. But the venue itself is great.
Love this place. Whether it is a Friday movie in the summer, a Broadway show, or a concert. Great seats all around.
I truly enjoyed the Nut Cracker Ballet. And i fully encourage families to see it, but there should possibly be an age requirement. I really dont think a child under 8-10 should be subject to an event that they one really do not understand and two cant sit still through 3 1/2 hours of. And its definitely not fare to the rest of the audience to listen to several fussy crying babies and toddlers. Other than that great cast, great performance, and beautiful set!!
Always a great time at the Orpheum, it has the best shows and events and its a lovely theatre. Theres more leg room in the center orchestra and all of the seats are good. Left or right orchestra are good until about 6 seats in. If youre closer to the wall its not the best angle to watch a show. If youre on the upper level good luck getting to the bathroom by the time intermission is over, although it has gotten much better since the renovations.
I enjoyed Its A Wonderful Life there! I attended it with friends. Our canned goods, donations, benefited Mid-South Arts Against Hunger. It was a great crowd. Pictures were taken with Santa Claus before the Show. We sang Christmas songs before the Show, too. We enjoyed the movie! The Staff was friendly. The atmosphere was great!
I went for the Aladdin play it was amazing... Started on time and well organized. Everyone was seated on time or they were going to be left in the lobby until the opening scene was done. Overall great performance and great environment.
Instead of a show, I attended the Commercial Appeal Sports Awards here. Well run and the Orpheum was the best place to have an event catered toward high school athletes. The Orpheum definitely came suited with a sense of style and superiority that all the attendees brought with them.
The Orpheum is still a spectacle of a show place very well maintained. A perfect venue for PENN & TELLER that we enjoyed last night
Loved doing mini golf here!
I took my daughter to see The Nutcracker ballet and it was gorgeous inside! Very fancy (and the performance was outstanding!) Im excited to be seeing the Cinderella ballet here this spring!
Absolutely AMAZING Aladdin performance. I sat as high up as you can possibly sit, right in the middle, and it was the most amazing performance Ive ever seen. Im hooked on Broadway performances now.
Gorgeous theater. Ive attended many shows here and theyve always sounded superb, from delicate piano concerts to Nine Inch Nails.
Ive been to the Orpheum countless times. Ive lived in Memphis my whole life. Concerts, summer movies, stage productions, stand up, you name it. And until tonight I loved every moment spent there. But tonight? Phew. Words wont describe the anger Im feeling at the moment, but Ill do what I can to clarify and explain.Tonight I went to see The Nutcracker. Ive probably seen it a dozen times on stage. And this was one heck of a performance. But theres a kicker: police your venue. Sitting on the mezzanine level, I had to deal more with the light of cell phones lit up all around me than I did watching The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. It didnt help that the aisle behind me did nothing but talk the entire time. And by that, I mean it was audible conversation. Which, if you think about it, thats pretty impressive when you have an orchestra doing its best to fill the air with music.Seriously, do you really think this is acceptable? Orpheum, I call upon you to do better. 48 bucks for a ticket (times two) was just an amazing price for the seat and the view. But your inability to enforce your own rules on disruptive behavior is pathetic. I ask that you tighten up the ship you run so that others dont deal with this. Maybe this was an off night? Ok, fine. Shame on you for fooling me once. Dont fool me twice. I know as one customer, I wont put a dent in any part of your business. That said, I also dont want to stop coming. You get three stars for the happy memories. If not for the abysmal lack of decorum and decency tonight, youd have gotten a solid five.
Extremely friendly staff at this Broadway quality, old world theatre.Like stepping into another time, in a good way! And the show was unbelievably fabulous!
Top tier Broadway shows and occasional comedians, speakers, and movies. Great sound system. Convenient parking next to the theater but be ready to pay $20-$25.
Always a great adventure. Hamilton was wonderfull.
Love this place. Beautiful theater. The lines did not move as well as usual for the comedy show (in either direction). Good view from the mezzanine however, the seats are not built for larger humans.
Great except you cant tip in your card. So, let us take care of the employees and add tipping options for us who only use cards and Id rate you a five. Otherwise, its not an establishment Incan attend or recommend. Employees work very hard are are often underpaid or simply deserve to be blessed. You stole those blessings.
Beautiful venue. They kept everything just as it was when it was built and its amazing. The acts they book are all great; however, you must be height and weight as someone from the 1920s. The seats are also historic, so a person with larger girth and/or length makes sitting for longer than an hour completely impossible. For some, it is not possible at all. Boyfriend 64 and pretty much a no go. I am full figured and had incredible trouble. We wont be able to come back. :(
Easy to get to on the street car. Close to lots of stuff to do. Amazing shows. Decent seats. Show was amazing
The theater itself is gorgeous. Ive seen several performances here and have enjoyed them immensely. My only complaint is regarding legroom. Im not a super tall guy, but my knees were pretty much in the back of the seat in front of me. The seat itself was comfortable, its just the legroom that is an issue. Otherwise, I really enjoy attending theater performances here!
Love this place! Recently saw Alice Cooper and it was an amazing show. The venue is beautiful, always clean and the seats are large and comfortable
We were only to the outside of this building, however there is a great folklore story about the theater. We visited Memphis many years ago and only have a few pictures of the theater was we were walking by it one day. If we ever make it back to Memphis, we would love to take a tour or attend an event within the building.
Seats are WAY to small had a good time despite that though
Ive been to the Orpheum several times and I always bring someone with me whos never been there before. It is such a beautiful theatre with such an amazing history, that one of the ushers actually told us about when we saw Rob Thomas a few weeks ago. The staff is very courteous as well.
This historic theatre is a Memphis treasure. The shows here are great from plays to music concerts and a variety of music genres are often there. Alice Cooper in 2018 was the best concert I have ever seen there (bring him back lol). The workers there are very friendly.
My mom and I went for the Anita Baker concert and she and I had a ball! 3 stars for the Orpheum due to the lack of space between the seats towards the doors. Its like they arranged the seating to pack as many bodies in as possible without considering the confort of the guests. We literally had to get up and out of our seats each time someone arrived. I hated that my mom had to constantly do that. The rows toward the front had ample space but tickets were $200 more. My tickets werent cheap either and but I expected to be comfortable. The concert was great but the venue needs better seating accommodations.
It was amazing. Just went to see Mannheim Steamroller. The place is absolutely beautiful. So much detail put into decorations and walls. I would come again if I could.
The Orpheum Theatre is super vintage. But, hey, I like vintage. It keeps the theatre gold and classy. I enjoyed the summer movie night. Went to see both the original Batman and Superman movies. I haven’t experienced a concert or play here yet but, I’m sure it will happen soon.
A great venue, classy looking, good sound and the seating offers better than expected veiws.
All of the seats give an excellent view of the stage. Acoustics were great. I would definitely visit that venue again.
I love the Orpheum. It s a beautiful theater with excellent acoustics and great seats. However I cant give it a five star review until management stops people from trying to take pictures on the grand stair cases during high traffic times. Once management stops the dangerous practice of letting people stop traffic on the stair cases just to get a picture, this place will be an excellent place to visit. But I cant give a high rating to a place actively allowing dangerous behavior. They need to deal with this problem before some one falls down the stairs trying to get around people that value an image for social media over basic safety.
The Orpheum theatre remains as one of the most glorious venues for movies, plays and concerts. The charm of what a theatre should be and a surviving example and witness to the past. We just saw Wicked and it was magnificent. If you really want a treat....wait until summer when they often have the original Gone with the Wind movie there.
Always the best! Love the Orpheum love the plays #orpheummemphis Dinner on the stage was delicious
I was invited sound crew to the #britfloyd show here and the acoustics were awesome.
Witnessed by first Rocky Horror here and really enjoyed it! I have been to the theater before to see broadway plays and I was pleasantly surprised at the sound system for movies too. Beautiful theater!
John Mellencamp. March 17. Best concert Ive ever been to. Felt more like I was watching a show not just a concert.
Saw wicked here, its beautiful, and not far from parking.
Had a great time here. I heard its haunted if you go at night there is a ghost... a little girl named Mary who sits in one of the rows.
Cool old building. Great part of town. The show was great! Knocked off a star because it still has tiny old style seating and Im a big guy.
I went to see the Broadway Musical Hamilton and I loved it!! Its a must see. I do wish the seats had more space.
Its pretty, it has good shows, staff is nice.
The grandeur and majesty of this historical theater simply cannot be understated. The classic decor is tastefully opulent. The mouldings, the chandeliers, and gold leaf make going to the Orpheum an experience every time. The service is just as decadent as the building itself, with helpful and friendly staff generously seeded throughout to help make your experience as enjoyable as possible.
Fantastic shows and gorgeous atmosphere. The staff is top notch and the experience is always amazing. The only thing that takes away from the surviving vaudeville theatre, is that the seating is still cramped and the lower cost seats are very narrow.
Beautiful historic space. It’s great to have a place so close to home where I can see great theatre
Hamilton was amazing, engaging, funny and emotionally captivating! Go see it! The Orpheum is a phenomenal theater and I always enjoy each trip. We had great seats in Row K. The lighting and sound were spot on. The staff was friendly and helpful. Cant wait for next visit.
Beautiful historic theater. Broadway series shows always amazing and good venue for all of the shows weve been to there.
Great place to visit. We have seen many plays here. Came this time for The Nutcracker.
It is a great and relaxed place to go and see concerts or like tonight a stand up comedian
Tonight I was excited to see the theater and John Prine alas I must have been the only one. There was no announcement by staff to have phones turned off so everyone around me seemed to be using theirs which was rude to both the performance and the great John Prine. Staff let late arrivals come in leading them with flashlights throughout the performance. Sad to see such behaviour when we paid good money. Grand hall. Grand performance. Poor staff and patrons - I will certainly think twice about going back.
Beautiful theatre with plenty of seating and several snack carts on the different floors. We went for Penn and Teller and has a great time. We parked at a lot down the street by the river for $10 and walked 3 minutes.
Great venue. My only complaint is that the rows of seats are too close together.
Very nice ambience, great acoustics, great line of sight from all seats that I could tell, seats a little on the small and uncomfortable side.Otherwise, a great concert and we will go back again.
The orpheum will take your breath away with its beauty. And then the play begins......and Aladdin was wonderful..especially the costumes and scenary. And then comes the magic carpet ride.....oh WOW!!!!! That was over the top!!!! Great Show!!!!!
What a great place to see shows! Very comfortable atmosphere, and there isnt a bad seat in the house. The ghosts that haunt this place give AMAZING back rubs!
Wonderful show. For King and Country were amazing. So glad I went.
Had a wonderful time watching Harry Potter and the Memphis Symphony Orchestra
Historic Theater. Very nostalgic. We all love coming here. Easy to get tickets.
It has a short walk of fame with names of singers on stars. Pretty cool to see.
Great experience! Super friendly staff.. ushers very friendly and helpful! Clean facilities including bathrooms. Parking was simple but a tad over priced right next to building ($25). $5 parking two blocks to the west though.
Ive seen lots of good shows at the Orpheum. I always enjoy it. If only there was more room in those seats!
Went to see Dear Evan Hansen. Walked in and was immediately greeted by the rudest security ever. Show was amazing of course ushers were nice though just wish they would hire security with better costumer service. Kinda ruined my evening but overall I enjoyed my visit.
Beautiful theater! Friendly staff and audio quality was beyond my expiration!
We always love coming to shows here. Theater is beautiful and all the employees are friendly. Great lineup too
Wonderful theater! Its beautiful, seating is great and Ive enjoyed every performance.
I have gone to the Orpheum many times for musicals but have never been to a concert until last night. And just like every time we have gone, the service of the employees were still very helpful.
The most beautiful theater Ive ever seen. Not a bad seat in the house. Staff is very helpful and friendly and the shows are top-notch!
Great lavish old theater. Multi level, hard to get a bad seat the way its designed. Drinks and snacks on all levels in the lobby area.
Beautiful venue, bringing wonderful acts to the stage in an intimate setting.
Beautiful building! Loved the show we went to. Took a star off due to seating. As nice as it is to be in such a historic building I was so uncomfortable trying to fit in my seat. Im only 58 and yet the seats were entirely too close together for myself and my husband.
This was a special date night with my wife to see her favorite movie, Its a Wonderful Life. The charm and atmosphere of this historic theater made the experience of viewing a nostalgic old black and white move even more memorable.
Grand auditorium. Spacious, secure and comfortable. Dave Chappelle was fun as always and also thought provoking. No phones were allowed so I dont have any pictures to share.
Always an amazing experience at the orpheum
I went to the Orpheum for the first time last year to see Gladys Knight. I dont add ice to any of my beverages because I dont know if the ice machine is clean. So, I asked for lite or NO ice in my margarita. The margarita I ordered was disgusting and had a lot of the sour mix. The person who fixed my drink got an attitude and didnt add any alcohol to my drink. (I hope she sees this review because she will know its her.)
Saw HAMILTON again tonight! So wonderful to be In the Room Where It Happened again.I was a bit skeptical having loved this musical for so very long and finally getting to see it, but not with the original cast (oh how I would die to get to see Lin in anything!!!)...but these guys were actually pretty incredible! *especially the King!
I had a wonderful birthday experience with Jeffery Osborne and Gladys Knight. The place was beautiful. Employees were great. The bathrooms were close and really nice. Really loved the close parking but was over priced and really tight if you have a SUV! Not much space to open door to get out the car. Seems as though they thought more money for the spaces then appropriate safe parking.
Enjoyed the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater. The Orpheum is a beautiful place!
We wanted to visit this theater and was hoping there was some event that we could attend there. And we lucked out, the very first Harry Potter movie, (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone) was playing but they were accompanied by the Memphis Symphony, playing the soundtrack live! This is the second time we have seen this type of combination! And it is amazing! We recently sat in the balcony and the seats were great! The floor seats seemed to have less leg room
Beautiful building and wonderful shows. The Orpheum in Memphis has never disappointed me. This time we saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Highly recommened!
Hamilton was a great show in a beautiful facility. Cheap seats have a fine view of the performance but it can get a little warm and the seats are tight. Next time, I will buy a better seat.
Classically beautiful and the acoustics are excellent. The slope of the orchestra seating is brilliant because the angle helps prevent obscured views.
I absolutely adore every show I get to see here! Its beautiful and magical! A Memphis gem!
Great venue for plays and musicals.Clean restrooms. The whole place is really nice. Seating is good although my knees touched the seat in front. Cheap parking available on Peabody pl just a very short walk from front door of Orpheum.
