Beautiful 1930s theater on Marietta, GA town square. We went for private screening of 1952 My Cousin Rachel staring Olivia de Havilland and Richard Burton. It cost $200 for 14 people and we brought the Blu-ray. So cool to see a favorite movie with your friends in a beautiful setting. Also free popcorn and drink. Theater also had a full bar. No cup holders.
Had an enjoyable afternoon at The Strand last Sunday at a showing of the 1920 silent film, Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde. We love to come here to see the old silent movies and they always have a top rated organist to accompany the movie. Great place for the family to relive some motion picture history.
Very family focused and warm hearted to their customers. I love their concerts and cant wait till they open back up!
The staff here is awesome! Always friendly and helpful! And you can reserve private movie nights for birthdays and celebrations - and awesome idea in a pandemic time!
Great beautiful venue and wonderful staff complete with an organist that rises out of the orchestra pit.Our son and daughter in-law had their “masquerade” wedding here and it could not have been better. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. The organist was absolutely awesome. It all made for a perfect and memorable event.
The venue is beautiful! Its a bit dated but kept up well so seems more vintage than old. The seats were small but comfortable, decent legroom. The concession staff were excellent! Friendly and efficient. The prices were reasonable I think. The bathrooms were lacking. Needed to be cleaned more often. The fixtures seemed small, hard to wash your hands without rubbing the inside of the sink. Otherwise I had a great time!
The Strand is a cozy and old fashioned place to see a staged event. There is a very intimate place on the second floor called Lumiere where you can sit, have a cocktail or beer and listen to a piano player. On the third floor is another place for events like parties, and it has access to the roof. You can see the entire Square while sipping a beverage. Nice place indeed.
Fun place to watch a play. Seats are very small and has an old smell. Need some fresh carpet...Bathrooms are clean and the workers are nice and professional.
We had a blast watching Young Frankenstein. The theater is lovely and the live organ music was a treat. It was a wonderful night out.
Im a fan of independent theatres, and this is a fine one. Comfy seats within a classic (restored) old school standalone theater, quirky picks for films and themes, adult beverages available - whats not to like?
Ive lived in Marietta 15 years and have never attended a show. My won tickets from my credit union and attended for the first time.I LOVED IT. The musical was magic, the theater wad nice, clean and cosy. My only issue was a limited refreshment selection. Other than that i highly recommend the STRAND THEATER.
First time here. Very good theater setting. Concessions and cash bar in the lobby. Not too large but large enough for a cozy atmosphere.
Its nostalgia is so inviting, youll want to go over and over again. Very clean, great bar selections, great acoustics, and of course, the popcorn! I love to go there for the silent movies, the concerts, and Ron Carter, the organist is phenomenal! Great place to go for a relaxing, fun night out by yourself, or with the kids, or for date night. The variety of entertainment is wonderful!
Went there for the first time for a local music studios recital. Fantastic old theater venue right on the square. Standard popcorn and snacks out front.
I just love this old theater. Such great character and the people that work there are always so lovely.
A wonderful old theater with an ORGAN... We saw To Kill a Mockingbird... It was an excellent venue for that movie...
I go every year to see Rocky Horror Picture Show, with my mom. If it wasnt a 45 min drive, Id probably do more when they have things going on. Its a beautiful theater!!
Great local theater. Comfy seats and you can take a beverage in with you
Nice venue. Went for the women in horror film festival. Twas dope.
Beautiful theater with good acoustics. The venue was clean and the staff was courteous and helpful.
Very nice. One of the finest historical theater. I grew up with the Strand and it was great to see Smoke on the Mountain there. I would certainly recommend it for fine plays and shows.
I saw Little Black Dress and Jukebox Giants here this past summer. Both great shows, both flawless visits to this treasure of a local theater.
The Strand is a wonderful experience. We went to see Casablanca there.
The staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I love working there and helping out. Its always an amazing experience. They do everything they can to accommodate everyone there and maintaining respect for all who enter.
These people were polite and kind from entry to exit, and the show was great! Its not always a fact that you get what you pay for because the tickets were quite inexpensive and they are mostly funded via donations. Classy!
This place is gorgeous! Seats are comfortable, bathrooms clean, well organized staff to get you to your correct seat.Got to bop along with the organ before our show and that was enjoyable.
I have not physically been in the Stand since my younger years..WAY YOUNGER What an amazing transformation! All seats have been donated by someone each with a plaque engraved to the back of the seats. Kinda reminded me of The Fox Theater on a smaller scale. We saw Gone With The Wind 80th Anniversary showing. Yes sadly they did encounter some unforeseen technical issues. But resolved most of it in the 2nd half of the show. Many shows age held there and Ill definitely go back. Oh and they do have a small bar for those who might care for alcohol over cokes. Located on Tyne historic Marietta Square... youll find many things to take in....
Great space and friendly, helpful staff. Nice place.
Beautiful theater but the sound system is lousy if you go to a movie. It is very hard to understand the dialogue. My whole group left at intermission. I have been to concerts and it was great.
Wonderful production of Middletown today as always, beautiful strand theater.
Very impressed with this theater, the management and Christmas at the Strand Ole Opry show! Thank you so much for the great show and historic theater.
I love Earl Strand Theater on Wednesday free comedy. I was actually at 164 Roswell st for Jazz And Jokes Atlanta. Check them out too
A beautiful edifice and fantastic experience. Perfect for theatre, film and musical enjoyments. A historical building kept alive by the spirit of Theatre.
Wonderful theater. I definitely want to go to more events and movies they have there. Wonderful staff and the bar was really great.
Incredible venue ! Irreplaceable ! All theaters should still be like that ! Attended a wedding there and it was a wonderful and fun experience ! I wish I could live in that building. Truly a must see !!
Theater has a retro look and feel that makes it unique. Comfortable seating and an excellent selection of modern classic films. I saw Clue when I went.
I thought the theater is fine and good but it is very white cishetronormative space. It would have to be a really good event to get me to come back. The space is suffocating if you are minority.
Loved the theater. Ever seat is a great seat. Lightning, and soundwas excellent. The play was fabulous. I plan to go back to seeother events.
Beautiful historic theater. Staff is doing a great job! Cocktails on the balcony overlooking the square is a real treat!!
My most favorite place on the Marietta square! Truly a gem and a state treasure. We absolutely adore this place.
Wonderful theater. They have great events and the staff is excellent. Cant wait to go to more events here.
It was such a great experience to have the Cobb film festival here.
Concerts are usually worth the price you pay and the theatre shows also. I like the fact that they have an active volunteer staff who are knowledgeable and seem to really enjoy their job.
Rooftop bar with live music. Limited seating. Also, The Lounge on the 2nd floor is also a bar thats a little more intimate with plenty of seating and live music as well. Much lower key than the rooftop. Set up for basically one musician with a couple instruments and a piano. Great place to hang out!
The Lumiere lounge has a fun game night on the second Thursday of the month. The seasonal musicals are well produced and often have very talented players. Often have tribute band for 80s music and old movies including silent films with organ accompaniment. I saw Metropolis here, it was excellent.
Good place for a stand up show, if the audio were do better by someone who knows about audio I would give 5 stars. Is very sad be in a show and can understand half of is said because the mix of the audio was soo mediocre.
Great local theater. Would love to see more musical performances from this venue.
What an awesome way to spend a Sunday afternoon....great entertainment and nostalgic lost silent film!
Loved it. Concession stand is very reasonable.
Beautiful theatre with lots of history behind it. Also has two piano bars above the theatre that are very quaint and quiet. Right in Marietta Square and diagonally from Marietta Pizza Company.
Attended Smoky Mountain. Good entertainment. Come early and enjoy Ron on the organ.
-Family Photo Shoot-Thank you for the great customer service.During the planning and discovery phase, we found Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre. We quickly saw from the customer service and the cleanliness of the facility that this venue was perfect.Chris, Susan, and staff gave the best customer service! From their smile, knowledge of the facility, and willingness to make sure we were comfortable; I can keep going.I was impressed from our first visit, but my guests (their first time), had nothing but good things to say.My family and I want you to know that we appreciate your efforts and look forward to continuing our business relationship.Colby
Great at experience. This room sounds amazing
My wife & I had a great time at the comedy show here. There was a friendly staff. The only negative was the parking. We did finally found some paid parking about a block or two away.
The lounge with the live music was amazing! :D
Love this place and try to go to any event I can there.
Whatever you go to see do not sit in the balcony! It was awful. You cannot see and you feel like you are not even a part of the show. We were disappointed to pay that price and not enjoy the show.
I attended a wedding here recently and was impressed beyond words. The different levels were perfect for the reception afterwards. There were different activities on each level. The music and dancing were on the top floor with roof access. Oh, and the view from the roof was amazing! The theatre is pretty nostalgic for many Marietta natives. My parents and their siblings used to watch movies there. Five stars!!
Stopped by here for St Patricks day, felt a little weird... Felt like a reception or banquet, had tables set up and bar set up from mobile bar gear. The view is really cool though and hear they have a piano bar that is love to come visit, but the upstairs bathroom was a tad underwhelming in terms of atmosphere.
Gorgeous old Towne style theatre.
Attended wonderful play in well kept vintage theater.
We rented the second floor of the venue for a wedding rehearsal luncheon. Chris made it easy and it went off without a hitch. I will definitely recommend and use The Strand again.
Went here to see Its A Wonderful Life. Patrons were rude and noisy and the films video kept dropping out
Second visit to the Strand. While the technical difficulties shortened our night we enjoyed the venue.
Need to work on the seating and table arrangements. Drinks and a sunset - cool!
Great intimate venue. Fun movies and a great place to see the GSO.Love the organ rising and lowering out of the stage.
I love the atmosphere and architecture of the building. Its rather cozy and the location seemed very family friendly and a great tourist attraction with plenty of pubs and eateries. Albeit, I did not see a show at this theater, but for a work related event, I was certainly thinking about catching a show there one of these days! I only gave it 4 stars because I didnt actually go see a show but they do offer refreshments, the seats arent too comfy, and the bathrooms were very clean.
One of my favorite Wednesday night open mics!
Best events. Great atmospheres. Live music. Silent films with real organ. Cannot be beat.
A wonderful blast from the past. They have great shows here...Motown reviews, live acts, movies throughout the summer for the kids. This is a really fun place, if you are in Marietta and you dont go here...you missed out!
Love this old historical theater!
Saw the Little Mermaid production and our kids were THRILLED. The show was entertaining, the venue was great, and the concession prices were very reasonable. Cant wait to take the family back to another show at the Strand!
Nice small theatre for theatrical productions!
Lovely theater and is located in a very convenient place. Theres so much cool public art in this area and even food in walking distance. Some streets are one way so just pay attention if you need to find parking.
Tonight was my second time at the theater, both times were to see a movie. Both times now I have wasted my money. The sound system is so atrocious, I’m wondering if it’s the original theaters sound system. I have missed more than 50% of dialogue from both movies I’ve seen here and I just don’t see the point. Also the bathroom was despicable, it was like no one was working there. The picture shows how dusty and dirty the bathroom was.
We attended a fund raising event at the Strand. The theater is beautiful. The pre-event area was comfortable and relaxing. The concert was very good. Seating is comfortable.
The Strand is now open with bar service and entertainment on weekends...multiple levels. Very nice atmosphere.
Saw The Wiz for the black history month series on my birthday. Enjoyed the atmosphere for a quiet evening. Staff were nice and accommodating.
Great classic theater with live organ music before movies.
Georgia players Guild show was excellent
A bit small, but is very cute.
Beautiful, well kept theater. Enjoyed my visit during the film festival. Could use a better selection of munchies. Maybe add hot dogs...?
Went to see the Aretha Franklin show and it was awesome so I bought tickets for 5 of us to see the Ike and Tina show $40.00 per ticket. I did not realize that the show was rated R because of profanity and NO body told me that when I bought the tickets at the booth, I was so very disappointed that we could not see the show and our money was not refunded and it was not printed on the tickets..not nice at all. Hope they change their policy because its a cool place and theres a lot of people who dont like cussing for entertainment.
Great opera. Madam CJ Walker. God is able.
