Jaye did an amazing job giving us a tour. My 7 year old was very entertained while learning about how people lived in the past. No pictures are allowed to be taken inside the castle, or I would add more. If visiting Marietta, OH I would absolutely make this one of your stops. I wish I took more pictures of the outside.
Lovely place to visit. The home is beautiful, loved being taken back in time. The ladies that work there are wonderful.
A recent visit to my old hometown (Marietta) included a first-ever afternoon at The Castle. It was like walking into a time machine. Experiencing that living history was really inspirational. The docents we incredibly knowledgeable and provided a nice balance of education and entertainment. Know that you cant take pictures of the interior so feel free to leave your cameras in the car. It only took me 52 years, but Im so glad to finally see the inside of The Castle.
If you old houses and history then the Castle is well worth a visit. Beatifully maintained/restored American gothic home, and our tour guide (Tammy, I think?) was very informative and clearly liked sharing her passion for this home and its history. Some very unique features in the home that we had not come across in other house tours, such as the large interior shutters on the bay window, the upper turret, the faux marble fireplace, etc. My wife and I both really enjoyed this tour as well as our quick visit to Marietta OH, a quaint and picturesque town.
Our docent was Carol who did a wonderful job explaining the history of the castle and all of its nuances.
Wonderful historic gem! I had a lovely guided tour with very knowledgeable docents who were able to explain the history of both the house itself and the provenances of most of the furnishings. I even got to meet the man behind the current garden, who happened to be there, doing upkeep on it.
Not only did the docent provide an excellent history lesson but there are some very unique features of the house that make it worth a special trip to Marietta.
I enjoy going to the Castle. The house is beautifully restored and is very elegant. This year, I attended the annual Christmas Tea and tour of the decked out house. An absolutely wonderful event.
Very cool. We liked seeing all the antiques and hearing about the history if the house was very interesting.
This was a really nice museum. Lots of local history of Marietta. I would highly recommend visiting, if you are in the area. They were celebrating the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I and had items in different rooms relating to the war. All the rooms had a very knowledgeable person on staff that did a terrific job explaining in detail on the history of the house and down to the detail of the room.
Absolutely beautiful piece of history in Marietta! Scott and his team have done a wonderful job!
Interesting place to visit. Really enjoyed!
It is a great place to see, it is beautiful and the classes they have are fun and informative.
The Castle was wonderful! Our tour guide was knowledgeable and very entertaining! She held the attention of our group of children. The pass time games were so much fun! It was a great field trip and one we will do again!
Unique place. Great to have to pass on history
Great view into the past. Great house that theyve worked hard to restore and preserve. The docent that guided us through this house was well-informed and very pleasant. Highly recommended.
Good tour for $7. Tour guide was pretty knowlegeable. He had a lot of really good local history trivia which really added to the experience. The house itself is a pretty interesting example of the evolution of a historic building.
Some true local history in a fabulous setting! WELL worth the effort!!
If you love Victorian decor you will love this place. You cant beat the price and the tour guide is extremely knowledgeable. Ive lived in the area for 15 years and Ive been there 5 times. Every time we learn something new.
Beautiful ️
Knowledgeable fun lady narrated the tour. Many articles authentic to the era but not necessarily to the castle. Well worth the time and admission cost.
Learned a lot about customs and courtesies in that time period from the superb tour guides and friendly staff
Telephone #called, got recording that they are open Saturdays 10AM. Not true, sign on bldg stated 1-4 pm.
Truly enjoyed. Beautiful and enjoyed learning the history of it and other interesting facts. People working there were nice and knowledgeable.
Had dinner here recently one weekend before Christmas. Absolutely gorgeous property and was decorated beautifully for the holidays. Staff was very friendly and knowledge and food was top notch!
Well worth the time. Staff is very knowledgeable about all items including the home itself. Loved it.
Amazing woodwork and even better history behind the property. Take the tour if you make it to marietta! No photography allowed inside home.
Its not really a castle, more of a gothic style Manor house. Sure its well kept and a nice place to take a tour if you have nothing to do, but cmon, it doesnt even have a moat. Recommend touring it if youre looking for something to do when you come to visit the town. Its a one and done type of deal.
Beautiful, historic home. Guided tours at an extremely reasonable rate. Special holiday tours too.
Full of history! Very informative and Scott Britton is awesome! Thanks for the tour and info
Breathe taking. Friendly staff. Loved the tour
Its beautiful
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. She was also very animated and told stories.
Beautifully restorted Victorian home. The tour is very good.
The castle is beautiful and the tours are interesting and well paced. Definitely go again.
Very beautiful place. The tour guide was very informative.
This is a beautiful historic house with an active schedule of great programs and a fantastic garden. A must see for tourists and members of the community.
Where do I begin? First its not a castle and its barely a mansion!!! Carol the tour guide could have had the tour over in 30 minutes tops but instead the tour was 2 hours because she didnt know how to stop talking!! Nobody needs to know where every piece of furniture comes from if it has no history to the house... Then she would ask us adults questions and when nobody would ask shed stand there not moving forward with the tour until you did ask... We walked out backs hurting and feet sore disgusted. Worst castle not castle tour ever dont waste your money!
What a great place, and very knowlageable! Great jod.
Beautiful castle in Marietta, was a nice setting for my high school senior pictures.
The castle was nice. More of a large house than a castle.
Tour was very awesome!
Had lots to see and the tour guide was really good
