Great parish. Even in the midst of a pandemic they still make mass feel somewhat normal.

Unfortunately the main church was locked up, but we were able to spend some time in the small daily Mass chapel, which was beautiful. I would love to return and see the rest.

Lovely, soon to be better! They are currently renovating the ceiling, which looks like it will be glorious when its done. I am wondering if this church is meant to look like the beautiful St. Josephs in Poland?

The Daughters of Isabella use the kitchen in the basement of the church to make pork pies to raise money for the numerous causes they support. It smells oh-so-good! Wonderful group! Beautiful old church.

Very Catholic. More taken by Angel Micheals in Nashua, was called St Francis and is also, now, a Coptic church( dont know what that is, look it up). Nice

Mass is wonderfully celebrated. I strongly recommend anyone visiting NH go to a 10:30am Sunday Mass

Went there for a funeral. I am not Catholic so I dont understand all the services. The sanctuary is gorgeous I wish I could have taken a tour of the stained glass windows. It was a little hard to hear I was three-quarters of the way towards the back. Definitely recommend you go there.

I won’t bother dignifying the crass comment about the food pantry being being too paltry other then birth control- it works great if you actually bother to use it.) My purely subjective viewpoint of St. Joe’s is that yes, the Cathedral as a whole with its pillars and stained glass is an often overlooked architectural treasure, whilst the congregation is becoming more diverse and reflective of Manchester’s changing population. (Last week for example the pew ahead of me was occupied by a Asian-American family whist the bench behind was filled by a African-American family. ), But the near monomaniacal relentless drum-beat of anti-Planned Parenthood coupled with the anti any form of family other then the one man one woman male –dominated unit (which is usually depicted as young, white and affluent) leaves me so uncomfortable as a moderately pro-choice LGBT individual that I have to logically wonder if I should even be seen crossing the churches threshold let alone attending a mass.It doesn’t help that this particular congregation does have a certain a reputation for being “against everything” to the degree that they come across as being as traditional (and as occasionally in your face rude) as the attendees at attending a MAGA-hatted Trump rally when it comes to “alternate lifestyles” (to use one of the Catholic Churches phrasings, whist some of the anti-LGBTQ screeds and fliers which are left within the side chapel are as toxic to read as the old-time KKK recruiting fliers. For an added squirm factor, couple the above example to the often cringe-inducing frequent (and frequently crude ) anti-abortion “literature” and displays left strewn about in the pews or set up in the foyer that are slightly to the right of the Taliban when it comes to granting a woman any shred of control over her own body, (One such anonymous broadside railing against the local Planned Parenthood center that I found in the chapel referred in a rising tone of hysteria to the “Violence of abortion”, “Save them from death”, “Grant conversion to the abortionist and to the staff”, and what I found to be particularly tone-deaf in the age of mass-shootings by far-right extremists “ Show us how we are to respond to the bloodshed in our midst.” )I understand that everyone has an opinion, and yes, the Catholics are entitled to their own theological interpretations within their own religion. But at the same time, I don’t want to also be made to felt that my simply popping in to attend a service is made conditional upon my condoning, let alone agreeing to take part in, the weekly “Dungeon and Dragons meets Christians and Demons” Live Action Role-playing marches in front of Planned Parenthood, or in my close my eyes to being regarded at best as a walking “Love the sinner but the hate the sin” by the parishioners. Overall, in an city that is ground zero for the opioids crisis, along with being located within an neighborhood that includes a men’s halfway house for parolees and a women’s shelter, the underlying atmosphere seems to be less about preaching the values of Christ then it is about loudly and vigorously –and at times cluelessly self-entitled- espousing exclusionary old-time strident conservatism on who is married to whom, or which women *gasp!* take the Pill. These were issues that might have been on the forefront of social consciousness oh say, in 1975, bur in the age of climate change seem weirdly passé. I sometimes feel less like I attended a religious service then I had just wandered off the street and into a strange blending of a old school country-club gathering and the headquarters of a radical alt-right PAC. The bottom line is that the minister down the street at the Congregational church welcomes everyone at the start of mass with a heartfelt “And ALL are welcome”, which sadly enough is a message I’ve yet to receive from St. Josephs.

My boyfriend went to the St Josephs church for their food pantry if I can post a picture of the food we got for 60 days! A bag of macaroni and cheese, a box of cereal, a can of sweet corn, toilet paper, a can of ravioli, a can of tomato sauce, and a can of chicken noodle soup. This is supposed to last 60 days! The 15 dollar voucher to Market Basket was the only good part! I can buy milk since Im pregnant! What sucks is several families with three children got the same amount of food!! On top of rude volunteers literally no food dont go to this church go to the First United Methodist church or the New Horzons!

For someone to complain about the amount of food you get? Maybe you should appreciate what is given? These people are kind, they are helpful, they help at christmas time also and Ive never had a bad experience, If your pregnant and need Milk get a part time job or apply for WIC dont blame a church for not helping you, Anything is a help, appreciate what you have. say thank you and try attending a church not only for free food. GOD is good.....
