What amazing things God had done here and continually blesses. Sincerely wonderful people that genuinely want to serve. Be it to a beginner, just starting their journey, or a transplanted believer like myself, following their heart to wherever the spirit leads us, you’ll be sure to hear a riveting message and be in awe of the ministries you’ll find here. Give it a few weeks, it can feel overwhelming. Almost unbelievable. But you will end up believing.

Attended the Unashamed Tour 2019. The concert was excellent. Everyone was so very nice. Thank you for hosting a wonderful event for families and people of all ages to enjoy.

The Pastor teaches good word but the young people who should have the most energy and passion for Christ lack spiritual maturity. Not enough is being done to admonish the young people to accept all people from all walks of life. The young people will get in little groups fondly called cliques and become an exclusive club within themselves. These exclusive clubs will network among themselves, go to eat among themselves, and intentionally not invite others out. These cliques tend to get favoritism from church leadership and may be excused for their behavior because of regular attendance. The cliques are beautifully dressed, and may even memorize scripture but its definitely a membership club. Anyone can walk in this church but only some will click with the cliques. If you can click with a clique you may feel loved. If you cant click with a clique then you will get a cordial yet less meaningful greeting but not the fellowship you need to grow spiritually. Ive grown more by traveling and work experience then the public high school type of environment here.

Was a great first experience for me and my wife and 1yr old. Felt as if we have been going there forever. The welcoming is as if I was going to my parents house, open arms. Daycare took care of our child. Lovely people and trustworthy. We have found our church....

Attend regularly and the small groups are awesome as well. Big in size but members are friendly and so the size dont seem as big. Love it and plan to become a member. Pastor Ken is funny,witty and preaches from the Word. My daughters, soon to be husband and I all love it!!! Bev in the guest center is a jewel tooooooo. Overall cant say enough. Hope to get baptized soon. God is worth to be praised. You feel the Holy Spirit in this building!!B-)

Perfect place too be connected with God. They offer different activities for kids all the ages, teenagers, adults meetings, marriages, seniors, etc... They already have Spanish services and groups.

Beautiful church! We really enjoyed the Christmas special Reel-to Real this year. So beautifully done with excellent production quality and of course the message was on point. My husband and I are planning to attend a regular church service sometime soon!

This is a great, Bible believing church. The building is huge, though, and with so many people, it is difficult to make personal relationships or get plugged in if you are only attending the main service in the big auditorium. However, there are myriad small groups that meet before and after the main services. This makes it easy to get plugged in.Also, the church leadership seems to have a real heart for serving and reaching the community.

What an awesome church! It may have a large congregation but the small groups are fabulous! There is literally every kind of counseling here for those with needs and the people are sincerely friendly. Highly recommended!

Need a Church home this is it!!! I remember many years ago they were located in a small little church in Seminole Heights with less than 100 people and now they have this great church with like 5,000 plus people

Absolutely amazing what God has done here. I feel blessed to have found Idlewild. Our family faced some challenges with regards to finding a church to worship at when we first moved to Tampa about 2 years ago. We visited several churches in the Bay Area and even became “regular attendees” at one. God’s plan for our family is unfolding as I write this review. I’m eager, excited and grateful to worship at Idlewild. It’s EXACTLY where I want my children to be. I’m pretty confident it’s where God wants us to be as well.

Large Southern Baptist Church with many different types of ministry, worship styles and programs for all ages and for special needs people. The church is involved in several missions projects locally as well as in far away places. The huge campus facility owned by the church accommodates a variety of ministries and services. Doctrinally conservative, the church seeks to welcome and serve all.

Dont be intimidated by the size, the more you attend and get to know people and get connected the smaller it becomes. Its one big family. I love my pastor and my church! And, theres so much to do.

The messages heard are directly from the Bible and it is delivered as such so it is clearly understood... Pastor is a great communicator ...

Joined Idlewild in the late 1990s. Was away a while, but still love this Church.

Fantastic church overall. For how large it is, Ive managed to stay with the same people for 15 years now. The student ministry isnt as connected as I wish it would be, but for the services alone, joining this church is worth it.

The pastor was on time with the word he spoke. Big beautiful church but was about half full. Plenty of room for visitors. I would go back.

Sunday Worship Services are simply amazing and uplifting. Pastor Ken is God sent. He brings God‘s word directly to your heart. It is such a blessing to attend the worship services here at Idlewild Baptist Church.

If you have kids this is a great place to plug in. Babies- College. Whether its summer camp, VBS, or the numerous events through out the year. They also have just as many places and events for adults to get connected(for any life stage you may be in.) Me and my family feel at home here. And the people we have connected with here have been like family to us in so many ways. So Blessed we found it.

Great church and community. You can feel lost at first because it is so big, but getting involved with groups is the way to go. Something for all ages! Pastor Ken is always amazing as is the music and choir. A fabulous church to get the right stuff with God and our Saviour, Jesus!

Amazing!!! Very active & in tune to what the people need with a variety of small groups Bible studies & 2 church services as well as a Spanish service. There is something for everyone from infant babies, toddlers, grade school kids, teens/youth, young adults, adults, seniors, special needs. You name it, they got it. Very welcoming & inviting. Extremely family oriented & Bible based!

For a mega sized church the senior pastors do a fantastic job of making you feel welcome, fed spiritually, and included in the worship. The fantastic youth programs from ages 1 to 29 are what got us interested in attending. However its been the powerful sincerity of pastor Ken Whittens messages that has kept us fed and growing for over 14 years. Dont let the size of the place scare you, its filled and opporated by good ole regular folks like you and me with a heart for serving Jesus Christ daily. God continues to work wonders through the ministry that is Idlewild Baptist Church for all persons from all walks of life. Come as you are, youll fit right in. Look for me Id like to meet you.

I cannot say enough good things about this church. Since we first visited a couple of months ago we quickly realized that this is a healthy church with a strong vision that flows through every aspect of ministry. We have been going it alone in our walk with Christ for quite a few years but not anymore.

Enjoyed Handels Messiah performance with the Florida Orchestra and Master Chorale of Tampa Bay.

I love this church! They have tons of small groups! The people are great, and Pastor Ken always knocks the Sermon out of the park! Theres something for everyone here! Dont be intimidated by the size of the church or feel like you wont be able to connect and have great fellowship with the people there!

No prosperity gospel or fluff--just that Jesus is our Savior, He will forgive you of your sins, and Christ is for EVERYONE. Come as you are. They have a WONDERFUL special needs ministry for children AND adults, childrens ministry for ALL AGES up to high school, a college student ministry, mental health ministry, and more. There is a Spanish service and ministry too. EVERYONE is welcome to come.

Beautiful church, and Im not just talking about the building. Services are a beautiful experience. Preacher is fabulous. The Word is preached. The music is like a world class concert every week!

Pastor Ken is one of a kind. Great Wednesday night service every week we go to with our close friends. Although we typically go to Oak Grove Church of God on Sundays we do enjoy our time here with great friends and a great word.

The production was absolutely wonderful the message was great hope that this continues going in the future

This church is large, but friendly. You can become involved as much or little as you want. The people nor staff are not pushey, but will help direct those wanting involvement. Two services and lots of classes too. The same Preacher since it was started in a home, a school, a church, and grew to need a larger church built. Beautiful choir and Orchestra. Golf cart to pick you up if parked too far. Visitor parking.

I was dedicated at this church almost 25 years ago. Ive loved watching the church grow.

I recently attended a Men of Iron event at Idlewild. It is a phenomenal church, friendly staff and a great space for events from meetings to weddings.

Ive been in much smaller churches that are not nearly as warm as this one is. The preaching and the Sunday School classes are second to none. They have about any ministry you would like to participate in there.

Incredible Church, they have enough pasture Stater to fulfill all of their membership and their BSF classes for Sunday school is top rated. You cant beat the Sunday School teachers at Idlewild Baptist Church. And the senior pastor preaches as though he was one of the 12 disciples. Im very proud to be a member of the Idlewild family since 2006. Amen.

I lounge still being able to go someplace nice and actually touch a book before I buy it. Great, relaxing atmosphere.

This is a really good, amazing church who true care about people. They have the best special needs ministry. They have Buddy Break under Nathaniels Hope for special needs kidos, and they have programs for special needs adults as well. Deana Troyer is the best, you will like her, or love her. Please call them, and go there. They have all kinds of group/s you can join and programs for everyone and everything. Check out all they have to offer on their websites. Its awesome i love it i just wished the sermon was a bit longer

Church was too big for my liking. I like to meet people and have a family. This one was so big and I feel that selling refreshments in the lobby like a Starbucks kind of feels off. But that’s me. I also had a middle schooler and an elementary kid and they are in classes on totally opposite wings of the church. It was like a mile hike one way and back to get one and then upstairs and back to get the other. Kind of inconvenient imo. The check in and out of kids seemed good and my youngest enjoyed the class. My middle schooler said his class was dry lol. They have a lot of activities and events here so that’s a plus if that’s what you are looking for. I was looking for a smaller church where people sit next to each other and talk and make friends. This is not that imo.

The folks at idlewild are awesome. Very friendly and caring. My kids love attending the kids services. Idlewild en español especially has become our church home. Great groups and classes. Exceptional service to the community. Alot of volunteer opportunities. Idlewild is the best place of worship we have found ever. They are geared towards serving God by serving the community and the people that need it. Pastor Ken gives a great and biblically sound sermon on sundays. Pastor Eloy preches the gospel from his heart but also walks it like he talks it. It is a perfect home for the imperfect and the best hospital in my opinion for a wounded heart and soul. I pray the Lord continues to bless this church and its members.

What a beautiful church, I went to a Christian hip hop concert there called the Unashamed Tour It was an amazing experience.

First time there ever, and it was for a sad occasion, a dear friends funeral and I found it very confusing where the entrance was to the actual Church plus once I got inside not one person who worked at the church bothered to say hello to me...which made me more sad. Plus it was during the week, a slow time yet people walked by and didnt even acknowledge me. And clearly I looked like I didnt know where I was going since its so large and could have used some help. Kinda sad for having such a supposedly good reputation, especially being a church. Just felt big, cold, and a little intimidating and unwelcoming. And I love churches too.

Was there for a concert last Saturday night and was very dispointed with the promoter and with the church for allowing people in front of the stage after we pay more money to have that VIP experience that really never happen..its a beautiful church just wish someone would have took control and let everyone in there seat so everyone could have enjoy the show..

Idlewild has been our Christian family fellowship for years. The church supports the Lutz community and surrounding communities in so many ways. Adoption/foster family, grief support, AA, prison ministry, special needs, and infinite other ways that church members reach out to the community as GODS hands and feet. Small group Bible studies are available. Most important... you can feel the Spirit of the Heavenly Father in this place.
