It was great. The lady that works there could be a little more nice. Rude when she was explaining closing times and the fact that we could not use a camera and that we needed to pay. Being nice and having good customer service is something a few have now a days.

Smaller than I thought.Too much to read with a simple tour - should print all the literature on displays as a handout text - interesting history. Gift shop good but would benefit from more books on the subject. Limited but fascinating memorabilia. B+

After a few failed attempts on previous visits to Lubbock, I finally got in to see the museum. Its small, as mentioned, but moving. The art gallery attached was a neat surprise. The reason there arent more photos on TripAdvisor is that they really police the No photography in the gallery rule. I was sorry to miss the tour of the attached Allison house.

A very well assembled collection of all things Buddy Holly. Learning of his influence on other legends was so cool. Like, the reason the name The Beatles was chosen was in respect for Buddy Holly and the Crickets. A video showed an interview w/Paul McCartney and he said their first 40+ hits were a direct influence of Buddy Holley.

Thought it was a little small for the price they charge. But enjoyed it and it is all very well done. The prices in the gift shop are outrageous. $1.50 for a single post card that is just highway robbery.

This was a wonderful place to visit. While growing up to Buddy Holly songs, this center made me more aware of his entire life. They tell his life story brilliantly. Exhibits are creative and memorable. Great learning that Elvis music had a dramatic impact on Buddy. It was fascinating learning the influence he had on the the Paul and John of The Beatles, Elton John and others.

Can NOT take photos inside except for neon sign. Next door at the drummers home you can take photos as long as tour guide not in the shot. Make sure you watch the film. Good photo op outside of big eyeglasses. I missed going inside the park across the street to see the bronze statue up close.

Buddy Holly Center is a Lubbock institution with their Summer Music Showcase, with Wendy Colonna shown here. Its also a Lubbock relic, as the historic Depot building that served as the beautiful train station in Lubbock during the early 1900s.Visit for the permanent Buddy Holly exhibition and the gift shop. Stay in the neighborhood at night to visit the bars and restaurants in the Depot District. Stay in the Pocket Hotel above The Brewery LBK in the Pioneer Building.Buddy Holly Center, run by the City of Lubbock, is not to be confused with Buddy Holly Hall, the larger opera house designed by Diamond Schmidt architects to the north bordering the Marsha Sharp Freeway.

If you are a Buddy Holly fan you must go. This a good museum. It has alot of information about Buddy Hollys life and career. They have some of his old stuff like guitars, motorcycle, pictures, etc. They have a short video that plays continuously that is interesting. The house he lived in is also on the property. I know at one time you could walk in it but it wasnt open when we went.

Enjoyable place to go if you appreciate history of Buddy Holly. Being his nephew it is nice to finally see that there are some things in his honor in Lubbock, after his music wasnt wholly accepted very well during his short lifetime... After all, even Elvis, Johnny Cash, and Carl Perkins, on that first time they were all together at the Cotton Club, were directly introduced to Lubbock itself after their show, which in the very least, likely helped the economy of the city at that time on to even present day.

For a museum dedicated to a musician who only lived to 23 yrs old, they have amassed a large collection of items and memorabilia. The center is very well-organized and wants visitors to truly understand how much Buddy Holly influenced other artists for decades after his death. Boring for children, but worth the visit if you have an hour or so to spare!

A will state up front that I am a huge Buddy Holly fan. That said, this was well worth the visit. Many original items from Buddy Hollys life are here, spanning from his childhood, high school, and short professional career. Photos, guitars, posters, furniture, and even the glasses he wore in Clear Lake, IA.It was a wonderfully intimate look in to Buddy Holly the person, and not just the pioneering musician. A must-see destination for any Holly fan, and worth the visit for anybody that finds themselves in Lubbock, TX.

I even remembered the tour guide’s name (Renee) after 2 1/2 years because she gave such a memorable speech about Buddy following his dreams. Really just gives you such a nice feeling. The museum is meant to continue Buddys legacy, and while I know most young people today dont even know who he is, people like me appreciate it wholeheartedly.
