I love an intimate theater that is still a proper theater. It is comfortable and beautiful, the entire place feels lush and rich. It is in such a convenient location as well. Love getting to see the Opera here. Women please pay attention to the other door in the bathroom so you are not exiting the wrong way.
So much fun with the studio class. Seat map on site would serve better with a bit of an update re: positioning of plan view vs. photo of interior.
This is a small theatre, which makes it feel very intimate. Very beautiful on the inside. Which is why I love attending events there. Staff is very friendly and welcoming.
We came here to see a comedy show. All the workers did a great job. Everything was organized and well managed. I never felt confused about where I should go or unsafe in any way. The show was great too! There were two bars set up to get drinks. Go see a show here!
Very awesome venue. The architecture and decoration is very nice and beautiful. That being said, I saw a rock concert here, and it was still really good for that. About 8 rows back and I had a great view.
This is a beautifully restored venue where almost every seat is great. The architecture and ambiance make this a great venue to see a show. The only knock I have is the tight seats in the balcony.
Saw Carmen, in French. Supposed to have closed captioning. They sort of did, but Id give that 2 stars. Really enjoyed the show and it was my 1st time to an Opera. FYI, enjoyed the rest of the Opera season, with closed captioning still so so. We are going to our second season.
This historic theatre may not be as lavish as some, but there isnt a bad seat in the house! The wing seats arent way right or left, so views there are good too. Several bars and service was very quick and efficient. Parking is available all around. Just a real treat to have that venue in our city!
Very clean and small, but intimate. Not a bad seat in the house. We greatly enjoyed our time here.
Beautiful Theater, seating is comfortable and the design is structured to see the stage from anywhere you sit. Balcony seating is Amazing...just a wonderful experience!!
This is a beautiful old theater. Architecture is pretty amazing as well as the lighting. Ive only been there once but it was beautiful and the show I saw was fantastic. The staff are really great and are willing to even take you all the way to your seat if youre blind woman like me they are super friendly and getting me seated comfortable and even got me a glass of wine so I didnt have to go get it myself and figure out how to get back. Critica a great place to see a comedian play or musical act and more!
Such a beautiful theater to enjoy a ballet performance tonight. The staff volunteers are lovely people.
This is a beautiful historic theater. Ive been twice, both times to see operas. The balcony view is great and unobstructed.
Went to see Linkin Bridge. They were fabulous. The Brown Theatre has great groups there. The ushers are very nice & friendly.
Great place to see a production, very intimate and really no bad seats. Highly recommend this stage as a part of the Kentucky Performing Arts Center.
Really pretty intimate venue. We saw the goo goo Dolls here so it still attracts big names. Highly recommend
The Angels in Disguise Christmas Concert with Linkin Bridge was phenomenal to night Malia really enjoyed the night
My class and I have been here a few times and it’s incredible!
Plays for school children have always been well organized. It is a beautiful, historic theater and the setting makes for a really special experience no matter the event youre attending.
A wonderful place to see a play! Saw CS Lewis: The Most Reluctant Convert, and was thoroughly impressed with both the play and with the setting. Sight lines were clear, seating was straightforward, the sound and lighting were getting well done...overall a most enjoyable experience. I will gladly return here to see other shows!
ELVIS SHOW WAS GREAT WILL BE BACK FOR OTHER SHOWS
A Night In Vienna was so much fun. Great music in an intimate setting.
There is not a bad seat in the house! I love any show hosted here but especially love the fact the Brown theater is the home of our Opera company. The acoustics are great, every show comes with a cheat sheet so you know whats happening. We have always say up top and the seats are pretty close together so you will meet your neighbors! Parking is easy and meeting before or after at the brown for dinner, snacks, or drinks makes this a great evening!
Excellent venue for any type of show. I always enjoy it.
Good view for Get the Led Out! lovely facility!
Beautiful and old classic theater with a wonderful theater good seating an excellent modern stage.
Went with my children for a morning play. Three little pigs. They had a blast! The theater was well run. They handled the massive bus loads of children well as well as seating us all in the auditorium. The play was interactive keeping the children involved and they were very kind dismissing any of us who didnt come on a bus first to avoiid the bus traffic leaving. With all the negative stuff going on and kids spending too much time online it was great seeing them enjoy a play so much. I love the theater.
Beautiful venue! It is good that old theatres like this have been restored.
Very nice place. Its small so theres really not a bad seat in the house.. They make sure people are courteous to their fellow audience members by inforcing a strict no cell phones policy which I love.
They had the air-conditioning on during the movie Everyone was freezing. They said it wasnt on, we complained several time about the cold, we later found out it was set on 58 degrees.
Intimate theater, I was in the second to last row and still felt like I had a great seat!
Quaint theater. Still meticulously maintained.
Gorgeous place.
Excellent venue.
Went for a comedy show and seemed very nice. Word of advice however is to not get any row with double letters when looking for seats in the front couple rows. Those seats are fold up chairs instead of auditorium seating.
Went and seen home free band they were awesome all acoustic band they are extremely talented and funny must see performance!!!!
I visited the brown theater to see a comedian for the first time. He was fantastic I only stopped laughing when the hecklers just wouldnt quit. I wish the brown employees had removed these people so thats why its 4 stars. The rest of my trip there went well, the bartenders worked quickly and efficiently even with the super long lines before the show began.
Beautiful venue. Went there for a lecture with the Filson Historical Society. Lots of friendly people greeting you and great setup with two bars. Comfortable seating too. Hope more are held there! Only probably was a woman talking throughout part of the lecture from the balcony. Very distracting when youre trying to listen to the show.
It is a nice stage. A couple of times a year I go see and hear my granddaughter play viola with the Louisville Youth Orchestra. Those kids are fantastic.
Alright place for a play, or maybe some music, but seeing a metal show here sucked. Having to be ushered to the 3rd row past tons of open seats, and told to move through the entire line on people to get to our seats, and told to tell the people in them to move sucks. Not to mention after going through all of that being removed from our seats, and moved back to the farthest row because the usher made a mistake is bogus. I understand seating people in the right seats for a play or something is important, but if you have a half empty theater for a metal show you shouldnt be as up tight about it. I would have happily moved if someone who had the tickets to that seat asked, but instead I got to sit in the last row as I saw 20 seats unused that the usher refused to seat us in. If you want to go here to see any kind of music expect to be standing in front of a seat pushing against your legs with no room to move.
Jeanne Robertson was great, bit seating is crowded and uncomfortable. In the event of a fire, many people would have perished! We will not go back to that building.
Beautiful old architecture. Very well maintained.
This is a great historic theatre with beautiful character & easy access to the downtown area of Louisville. My family recently attended a Christian Music Concert at this venue & was whelmed by helpful staff & awesome theatre, itself. The only negative I can speak of is this was the first Christian event I have attended were alcohol was allowed to be displayed & sold, hence the 4 out of 5. I guess the thinking is, you put it out there & they will jump on it.
Great sight lines and friendly ushers. Amazing venue for the show.
I saw a metal show here in December, which at first seemed like a mismatched pairing. But it wound up being absolutely surreal. This place is beautiful and the balcony seats still felt so close to the stage. The one major issue I had with this place was the complete lack of space between rows. In order for someone to exit, everyone else had to stand all the way up.
A beautiful old theater updated to modern standards.
We saw whose line is it anyway? Very funny show. Older theater so seating is tight. Hope you dont need to get up for a bathroom break.
One of my favorite venues, staff always nice and professional. Not a bad seat in the house and always clean. Parking is free around the facility.
Not a bad seat in the place! Restrooms needed to be stocked more frequently.
We saw Rudolph the Musical. I didnt expect much but it was really cute! The theater itself is beautiful. I would recommend middle section/middle seats, though. We were in the 2nd row to the left of the stage and it was a little difficult to get the full effect of the production.
Great, intimate theater. Just to note, arriving early will leave you waiting for the interior doors to open later.
It is a very nice venue, easy floor access, parking lot across street
Beautiful place friendly professional staff
Nice venue, great seats, amazing staff. Highly recommeded.
Really cool venue, theres probably not a bad seat in the house. Staff was very helpful.
The Wiz I was very disappointed & the whole place needs to be remodeled..The seats are very uncomfortable!!! Horrible production...I still want my Money Back
Wow, beautiful, truly beautiful interior, well staged, amazing acoustics, very personable feeling. Will gladly see another here
Nice place to see a play
Love the opera. Every one has been exceptional. But improvements need to be made to the valet parking!!
Dance contest for children and tee s. Hundreds of children having a great time.
Beautiful old theater. Excellent place to see any kind of live show.
Always good to hear Awesome music on this place!
Brown was very nice and theater convenient to parkingBalcony aisle seats have great view of stage and sound is excellent up thereMy only issue is that I have long legs and next row seats are very close with no leg room at all so if you are tall or have knee issues I would suggest getting an aisle seat.
Saw Chris angel here! Awesome show️
Black Violin! Best show ever! Best setting but the seats are small! Still loving it!
Cool venue, my only complaint is that the place is sweltering. Drenched my shirt in sweat in the first 15 mins of being here
I love that old theatre! Doorman and all. A ground floor and a balcony section. Bathrooms have been modernized but the rest is refurbished 1940s. Great accustics. Best parking is probably across the street.
Absolutely beautiful! Wonderful and helpful staff and it was a great show!
Nice place! Parking 10 dollars!
Well maintained historic theatre. Definitely look around and look at the detail in the decorations :) also nice to walk over to the hotels nice bar!!
Visited for multiple shows, always a great experience.
Great Show Cream 50th Anniversary
Great seats no matter where you are sitting ! Just saw a great comedy show and the venue was amazing and very beautiful and easy to navigate through! Great experience :)
Loved the theater. Parking is limited
Love the setup. Large but still quaint.
A beautiful theater located in beautiful downtown Louisville a wonderful place to see an event now
Beautiful venue...not a bad seat
Awesome building, great history.
The KY Opera Open House was a great experience for my daughter and myself
I have always loved this theatre when I visited in elementary and middle school. The theatre is very beautiful, the seats are nice, and the staff are very friendly, helpful, and professional. They made sure everyone had a great time at the show I went to.
Excellent venue great seats and great acoustics
Very intimate venue.
Home Free rocks!!!! Love seeing them at the Brown!
Black violin was an awesome show...I gave it five stars because I was entertained the entire time.
This is really a nice place to see small production shows. It is well maintained and staff are friendly.
The building was beautiful, the staff was friendly and we very much enjoyed the show.
I find it neat to attend a show and to think that our ancestors were doing the same thing 2,000 years ago. Did they sit there and mumble to the person next to the what did the actor just say? As I do because they were speaking so fast?Beautiful venue and great staff
Saw the Dark side of the wall show with enigmatic orchestra and the show was amazing!!! The building was too hot but the show was great!
Went to a live recording of an NPR show here. Drove there with my partner in her Prius. So...pretty standard liberal stuff going on here. The venue was nice and beautiful. I do find it odd that the restroom had an entrance and an exit. Like...separate. You go in one way, you use the restroom, you wash your hands, you go back to the door you came in, you realize you cant leave that way because theres no door handle, you look confused for a moment, you notice an exit sign, you make a joke to the guy you pass about that being weird, then you exit. EVERY. TIME.Are these the things people look for in Google reviews? Should I start focusing on other things like convenience and affordability? I dont know how these review things usually go, but Im sticking with awkward interactions.
Wonderful Kentucky Opera performance...were season ticket holders. Just wish the seats and aisles were wider.
Very beautiful venue and the fact that they dont allow you to take pictures makes you appreciate the show at its fullest.
I truly enjoyed myself... Even though i worked.... Beautiful clean environment with friendly staff. Pleasant experience.
Amazing experience to watch the Louiville law school graduation in an elegant and fashionable atmosphere. Restrooms close by the theater room and decent entry space to socialize. Convenient downtown location with parking lot across the street.
