Once on this Island was truly a superb show. Great acting, great story, talent in abundance. The staging was novel, the choreography was superb. If you get a chance you should check it out or any show at Actors Theater. We have seen quite a few and never been disappointed.
Very cool theatre with terrific performances on intimate stages and genuinely superlative staff of courteous, enthusiastic, helpful, and knowledgeable souls. The only reason I am not giving all 5 stars is for the parking (garage) situation. I will have to remember not to park in the theatre garage, next time I am trying to save money and time. It was winter, last time I was there, so non-motorised vehicles were out of the question, but i would suggest carpool or uber, dinner out beforehand...”dinner and a show” is a delightful treat, no matter what.
Beautiful theatre. You cant tell now, but this building was once an old style bank. They left the beautiful columns & ceiling design. The Pamela Brown is a great place to see a play. Everyone likes center floor, but theres really not a bad seat in the house. (Unless, of course, youre short & person in front of you is 66) Ive had seats in all areas of the theater, including back row of the balcony, and could see everything happening on stage in all of them. In fact, if you like to be a little farther away from the action, front row balcony can be the best seats in the house.
Weve been coming here since I was 4! I ABSOLUTELY loved the Christmas Carol this year! It was the best YET! Scrooge is the best that has ever been. Lots of laughs, we lost my brother 3 years ago and it was always a tradition, we will continue to go especially for him. Thanks to all the hard work put into every part and play. Dracula is amazing too. Actors Theatre, this christmas carol has been the best yet. Thanks for making us laugh and smile, much needed!!
I have taken my family almost every December since 1989 to see their annual production of A Christmas Carol, and it never disappoints. The theatre itself is very nice, and they now have an excellent restaurant below the main level. We actually ate there this year as well, and the food was excellent! Check into the theatres schedule as they have many different productions all year long drawing international talent. Actors Theatre provides an important artistic venue to the Louisville area.
Nice theater for live shows. Not too big and appears there is not a bad seat in the house. Scenery and cast did a great job. Very enjoyable presentation of A Christmas Carol.
Been to a ton of shows here and never been disappointed. If you see an offering that piques your interest, be confident theyll pull it off and will find ways to surprise you.
I had fond memories going to Actors as a child but have learned that sometimes when you do the same thing as an adult, it isnt as magical. Fortunately, I saw A Christmas Carol yesterday and it was wonderful. I really enjoyed the music, singing and overall performance. It was so good, I cannot wait to go again. I hope to make this a Christmas tradition with my children.
Excellent venue and amazing shows. Highly recommend everyone in town gets there at least a few times a year. This is a world-renowned theatre!
An amazing production. Enjoy it so much. Look forward to going again. Keep up the great work
Actors is such a nice venue! The theater itself is very nice, the staff was very friendly and helpful, and the performance was excellent. We will definitely be returning!
My sister & I went to see A Christmas Carol. The production was excellent. Jon Huffman was incredible.
Ive been to Actors many times, mostly for the annual Dracula production at Halloween time. That one is a lot of fun! It tales place in their theater in the round, which places the audience into the action.Their traditional theater is a nice space as well, with its smaller size compared to Whitney Hall making for a more intimate experience and better audio/visual for people in the back rows. Even the farthest of the back rows feels very close to the stage, which is great.I havent eaten at the restaurant downstairs, Milkwood, but they have a nice bar upstairs and an art gallery in the foyer. The staff are always very friendly and helpful.
Louisville is fortunate to have one of the top regional theaters in the country. We have been season ticket holders for many years. We enjoy the Sunday matinees plays and usually enjoy an early diner afterwards
The play A Christmas Carol was enchanting. I love it and go see it every few years on my birthday as a treat for myself.
Went to see Dracula this year and took my teenage kids for the 1st time. It was amazing as always. They loved it. You can watch this year after year and always see it as new and exciting!
Excellent experience that I plan on attending in the future. As a matter of fact, next Sunday Im going to see a performance.
Anybody who knows me can tell you, I LOVE THIS PLACE! Everyone there is welcoming and knowledgable of Actors Theatre and the performances are an experience with each show enlightening you one way or another. Get a season pass with the parking because its well worth it. Keep up the good work yall!
School group performance of A Christmas Carol. Excellent organization from bus drop off to seating to pick up. Thank you Actors!
We go and see Dracula here each year, and I would like to start going more often to see other shows! The seating is really nice and acoustics are great. They always have a bar set up to get drinks before the show or at intermission. Go see a show here!
Saw an amazing rendition of Dracula that Actors Theater put on for a few area schools. First time Ive been to the theater myself since I was my students age, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Well worth the money for tickets, and the talent is amazing at this theater.
The building holds three separate theaters so you can see a variety of types of shows. The Humana festival is always a delight and the seasonal plays are lovely too, but the playa the rest of the year are always my favorites so make sure to try something new and you will not regret it.
Saw Dracula with a friend - first time! Amazing acting, and the venue is amazing. Intimate, but lots of room. Great experience!
Actors Theatre is an awesome place. I love seeing Dracula every year. I am seeing A Christmas Carol this year for the first time.
Wonderful place! Once On This Island was an amazing experience for kids and adults alike!
There really arent any bad seats, cheaper than Broadway tickets, yet still superb performances.
We had a great timeAcoustic s and view excellent. Nove dining too? Down stairs.
Great location with direct access to the theatre from the parking garage. Near many restaurants and clubs. The theatre is intimate and perfect for live shows.
Incredible. Saw Dracula and was amazed. Mind blowing what happens right before your eyes. Will try to attend every year.
Got to see Dracula on Halloween here and it didnt disapoint! Its amazing what they can do in the space they have. Nothing short of amazing!
Love the theater. Intimate setting. Always a good show.
One of the highlights for visiting Louisville. Highly recommended. My daughter (13), said it was her favorite part of the entire trip.
UGH, GOD. I want to work in this place. I live what theyre doing and they have got some amazing talent always has a great selection of shows. Especially, the new play festival. Also, I love College Days.
Went to see the play Dracula with my sons school and it was absolutely Amazing!!! The actors/actresses are some of the best I have ever seen. I felt like I was a part of the play. It scared my son and his friends to death at certain times during the play. Luv It!!!!!
Saw A Christmas Carol. Balcony seats.but still a good view. Very nice setting.
Friendly reception at the box office to pick up parking passes. Gracious help offered to find our way through the hallways toward our theater, and kindly help in finding our seats! What a grand experience! 5 out of 5 stars!!!
Normally the shows are great. Santaland Diaries was a one actor show, uneventful and pretty much boring. Other shows have been great.
It is amazing how much they can do with such a small stage. Dracula was great and different from last year so go again!
Delicious food, simple hearty menu, gracious and welcoming service in a comfortable and relaxing environment. The night we were there, there was jazz. An extra added bonus. Will definitely make this one of my go to places, and its close to home! #lovetheCOV
I went and saw Dracula. It was freaking awesome. There isnt a bad seat in the theater. I wish I lived closer so I could go see it again.
We just returned from attending the 1st performance of 2019s Christmas Carol! This year’s cast and production(Director & Adaptor) is warm, moving and exhilaratingly touching!! I’ve been less enthusiastic “since Ray Fry,” but THIS inclusive, racially and heritage BLIND production moves the soul. Tears ran freely - lovingly! Why does the magic of A Christmas Carol endure? GREAT DIRECTORS, GREAT ADAPTATIONS and MAGICAL CASTS!!
Board member for many years, moderating Community Conversation each year. Nations finest regional theater!
Saw A Christmas Carol and it was fantastic! The gymnast that played the Spirit of Christmas Past was phenomenal!!! Loved it!
I had the time of my life while watching Once on this Island. It was awesome.
The young professional discounts make live theater really affordable.
Loved it! I saw Dracula. It was my first time going and I also plan on going again. I recommend it for great local entertainment!!
A wonderful production of A Christmas Carol tonight! Excellent dinner at BBC, next door, before the show!
Need better description, mostly for when where the mountain meats the sea.
We had a wonderful time at the show. Recommend.
Great experience. Went to see Dracula, and it was brilliant. You can get really close to the actors and the action the way the Bingham theater is. Not sure the layout out the other auditorium. The Bingham is basically theatre in the round, I guess. (I Think technically it would fit that description.) Very nice lobby with a really cool area with an amazing dome ceiling. Friendly volunteers, ushers were great and helpful. Loved it.. Would definitely go back... The parking lot was a bit hard to find with all the construction when I came down. But no big deal ultimately.
Saw A Christmas Carol. Veey well done. Very enjoyable.
Actors Theatre is the premier theater experience in Louisville for various reasons yet none resonate louder than the quality of the productions from the choices to the actors they hire! They have three uniquely different theaters as well.
One of the most beautiful places i have visited in Louisville. Support your local arts!
Great way to spend some time, the play a Christmas Carol was outstanding.
Was there for a production of Pipeline, a brilliant play and stand by seating was amazing! It was my first time there, felt like a place I could get easily attached to. A great staff, I met a board member, the cast came out and mingled, the staff were accommodating, and pleasant! I think I have found the heart of Louisville!
Excellent local theater with national shows. Theres not a bad seat in the house regardless of which theater you see a play. Really couldnt recommend it any higher.
We are season ticket holders and love Actors. If you are younger than 35 season tickets are heavily discounted. Actors offers a quality of drama that cannot be rivaled in the citys excellent community. They really are more than Dracula; putting on a series of performances about race, marriage and religion that are thought provoking and engaging.
Had an amazing time seeing A Christmas Carol! Small and intimate theater with wonderful actors!
I love this place - the cast...employees...the stages... everything EXCEPT The Corpse Washer. Boooooo Hisssss!!!
Up and coming artists performing extraordinary plays at reasonable prices
Ring of fire was a incredible experience! The music was moving and soul touching. The performers are so very talented!
I have season tickets and always enjoy my theatre experiences!!!
Once again a wonderful performance! We brought two of our granddaughters and they were thrilled!
The place is legendary. Great box office service. Fantastic performance
Saw a christmas Carol last year. It was pretty good.
Excellent play. Theater is not too large.
Saw The Santaland Diaries and loved the show but was very disappointed when a woman got up and walked out - and she was allowed to return! This after all the many warnings that if you got up, you could not come back in. Stick to your policies, ATL!
Actors Theatre is a wonderful place. We have seen many great performances there. I enjoy the seating which makes you feel you are part of the show.
We saw Dracula.. What a show! What a performance! Never seen a bad production in over 20 years!
Wonderful theatre! Great atmosphere and great productions.
Excellent productions. If you are under 35, they have an amazing deal on a season of tickets.
Small enough venue so there are no bad seats in the house, but just big enough for professional productions. This establishment is really a historic landmark that promotes the arts to all ages and backgrounds, evident in its casting and audience. The talent and enthusiasm of the cast and staff make this a real Louisville treasure. They have very fair pricing and the location and parking are convenient and centrally located.
We came for a lights demonstration and for the boys to check it out (THANK you Caltural pass) all the staff was very kind and super helpful. The kids loved it and we cant go back to see a show.
Great live entertainment with all great seats.
Recently attended an arm wrestling show here that was really amazing.
Nice venue. They always have a talented cast. Dracula is a must see every year.
I was really surprised at what they could preform it was amazing seeing the action in Deracula.
Great venue and always a good time.
Great little theatre! It seats about 315 people and it really doesnt matter what seat you have, you can still see the show. We did volunteer usher for Dracula. It was a good production! I like that its a more personal feel, actors actually come up or down the sections and it kinda makes you a part of it all.
Quality plays. Outstanding acting. Great customer service.
Great plays, actors and atmosphere. You can choose from 2 or 3 plays a night.
Enjoyed my time at the Theater and the very warm staff.
Great, professional actors. The facilities should really be upgraded for patrons (smelly, dirty restrooms, feeble concessions stand/coat check, no sign for the stairs for the parking garage, and lots of other things add up to inadequacy). Ticket prices are very high, and we expect more. Until that happens, we probably wont be back.
Saw a Christmas Carol. Absolutely fantastic. Great production. Lot of fun. Grab a drink at the bar and head to your seat. Highly recommend.
We love Actors Theatre, the whole experience was wonderful!!! Great staff and the ushers were helpful and friendly. Phenomenal actors and great plays. Its an intimate and cozy atmosphere, you are transported to the time and place right along with the actors. We cant wait to go back. When you visit Kentucky, Actors Theatre is a MUST!!! You will have a Great time!!!!!!
This place is great. Every seat is a great seat. The acoustics are amazing. Always filled with great actors! Definitely will be back again next year for the next Dracula!
Been to two plays, think I had a smile the whole time, both times. Great experience as the actors are within feet from the audience. Seats around 130ish to 200ish, depending on which on the four theatres. Excellent place to view a play !
Excellent place to see a show. Theres always first class productions always performed here. They allow drinks during the performances and have an attached parking garage. Just took the family to see A Christmas Carol and hopefully it will become a family tradition as everyone loved it!
