When we were there for The Lion King it was being refurbished and it was a mess. We went back for Miss Saigon and it was beautiful. The folks who work there were extremely nice to us, even coming to our seats to let us know what to do if we needed help (accessible seating). It was a real pleasure to see the progress they had made in a few months.
Lovely location. I can have issues with discerning sounds, but didnt need the free assistive hearing system that was provided. Staff was super nice. Parking was nice enough but its definitely downtown sized. Spaces are sized for small cars. The seats were a little small Im the auditorium we were in. It was hard for people to maneuver around each other if someone had to get out. I luckily was sitting next to someone who didnt smell strongly because we were packed pretty tight.
I truly adore this place. The staff are always so friendly and kind, and are eager to help you. It is a tad bit crowded outside the theater in the lobby, but it’s really not bad. There’s definitely more room than other theaters I’ve been to. They are equipped with a nice bar in the lobby as well. Inside Whitney Hall in this center, it is very big and beautiful. This is always the place where we try to go watch a performance at.
I Performed in The Nutcracker Many Years ago when Only around 14 years Old. I danced with the U of L Dance Academy which is a smaller part of the larger Louisville Ballet Co. For Youth......It was a rigorous but absolutely Fascinating and Priceless part of my childhood memories. Being part of something That large scale at such a young age is a gift you truly cannot even ptocess the impact of until later in life!!! I loved and will NEVER forget all of the emotions and Ultimate Joy and Satisfaction of being involved in such an important and Elite Production!
Whitney Hall is a great place to see a concert or performance. We were seated in Orchestra row W, 4 rows from the very back. Even so we didnt feel so far away as being removed from the action. The acoustics are first rate. The attendants were very helpful. The atrium is somewhat small and post-performance was gridlock. This was partially due to the nature of the performance (all state choir concert) with parents, grandparents and students congregating.
Just saw the Lion King. It was wonderful! Loved every minute. Renovating didn’t bother us at all. Staff is so helpful. Would suggest new seating. Rather crowded. Some of us just aren’t as little as we used to be. Would make it much more comfortable. Other than that enjoyed every minute.
I performed here for the High School All-State Choir Concert of 2020. It was among the best experiences Ive ever had. Not to mention the singers pouring every last ounce of their heart and soul out for the crowd. Youre gonna get a show-and-a-half if you come here. Take my word for it.
Recently saw Aladdin here and I was great! Grand tier left is where we sat, and the seats were perfect. We were in a box so it was very easy to get up and go to the restroom or to get a drink or something. The staff was kind and helpful all around! Definitely recommend visiting Scene beforehand for dinner and drinks. Itll be super busy, but the service is incredibly fast! My suggestion is to get there when they open and grab a comfy place to sit while a member of your party orders the food. All together a great experience.
The atmosphere in the center for the arts is always homey and comfortable. From the super comfy couches and chairs on the balcony to sit and sip a cocktail at intermission to the bar/lounge downstairs in the lobby. The prices for entrance to the shows are moderately priced, and the prices of a soda, or cocktail are decently priced. I believe it was 3.00 for a ginger ale. They have other sodas as well. The show (we saw the nutcracker) was excellent!. There was plenty of free parking in the lot and garage close to the center. You can enter the center from the parking garage too!
The shows performed here, that we saw - Miss Saigon and Dracula, were both professionally and artistically superb. The structure is easy to navigate, and the facility staff was courteous and friendly. They also appeared to sell alcohol as well. However, on the downside, the bathrooms, per floor appeared to be only one per section. So at the intermissions, expect to stand in line and wait while everyone uses the bathroom all at once. Also, depending on the seat you purchased, you may experience claustrophobically tight spaces if the the theater goers next to you are larger people. For my experience, my elbows and knees were in constant contact with a large, smelly, sweaty individual.Despite the negatives, the sheer beauty of the artistic offerings outweighed the suffering, so 4/5 stars.
I had the pleasure of going to see Miss Saigon at The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts this last weekend. Theres not a bad seat in the house! Would recommend seeing a show there if you get the chance
Very nice place. You can dress up or dress casual. I enjoyed a show here. Actors and actresses were wonderful. People were polite and friendly.
Ive been there four or five times in the past 3 years. I just moved here from Boston they have all kinds of great venues there. Even though it was under construction last time I was there it was still a great experience. The Lion King was absolutely awesome!
We were in the smaller theater and had great seats. I do believe all the seats would have been good though. They are elevated enough that regardless of the height of the person in front of you, you will still see the stage. The staff was friendly and the restroom was clean.
Saw Cirque lou matinee and it was a magnificent way to spend a Sunday afternoon and 20 bucks. Very entertaining and mesmerizing. Lots of children were entertained and very spellbound, keeping their attention throughout..we must have had old people behind us because they were clappers. Not a problem.. enjoyed very much.
Went there for SETC, had an AMAZING time! Wonderful staff, everything is fitting and helpful. Represents the arts in an imaginative way and really sets the standard for preforming arts centers.
Great venue. I was most impressed with the volunteer staff who were friendly, kind and attentive. Always a great time whether attending a performance by your favorite artist, musical, or artistic act.
We saw the Bands Visit, which was fantastic. The reason I am giving it 4stars is that they are currently renovating. Once they are do e it will look a lot better. They put on some great shows there still.
A cornerstone in Louisvilles vibrant arts community! Once rehab from the fire is complete, it will once again shine!Only complaint is the lack of adequate restroom capacity on the higher levels.
The Arts center is an awesome place to see an event in with the orchestra style seating and nice acoustics. The seats however are very close together and thus very uncomfortable. I had to sit at an angle even with my arm around my son as there were five people with broad shoulders in a row.
This evening was spent at the Bomhard Theater. The Bomhard is a relatively small venue with steep theatrical seating. It is perfect for intimate presentations or small concerts. Comfortable seating, with clear line of site to the stage from any seat. Sound and lighting were excellent. The ushers were very kind and helpful. Our only issue was parking. Forced into the PARC lot as the main lot was full, there were no clear directions to the theater. We were forced outside for an extended walk in the wind and rain to the entrance.
Went to see Hamilton for the first time and it was amazing. Highly entertaining play with lots of hip-hop/rap and pop culture references. Fast and easy security check prior to show. Finding our seats was also very easy and straight forward. The building has its own attached parking garage which was $12 (on a Friday night for Hamilton. Not sure if it varies depending on day/show). There was also an additional non-attached covered garage that was slightly cheaper. Alternatively there is plenty of street parking options which may be free depending on the time of day.
Great venue. Saw Bert Kreischer there and it was outstanding! Had bars set up on each level and the bathrooms were clean and accessible. Definitely looking forward to my next outing at either Whitney Hall or Bomhard.
We saw lion king. So fabulous. We sat in balcony and had great viewing and hearing. Sort of shoulder to shoulder though. Show itself was fabulous. It is still under reno but very workable. Good parking area available.
Watched the Star Wars performance here. Absolutely incredible. The Louisville Orchestra was better than my already high expections! The building was under construction but still completely navigatable. The staff made finding our seats easy and allowed for us to focus more on the performance then figuring out where to be which was nice and convenient.
I love attending concerts here and the renovations are quite nice. I had seats for Straight No Chaser tonight, second row in the balcony. Perfect seats. The parking is congested so be prepared for a wait to get out (maybe 20 minutes).
The Lion King show was amazing. The seats however were extremely uncomfortable. Airline seats are more spacious. My toes touched the seat in front of me, my knees were above my hips and the seat width was only about 15, meaning I couldnt sit fully in the seat due to the solid arm rests. I will likely never return. My petite wife had similar complaints.
This place was adorable, I really loved it, I would recommend it. I watched the Lion King Show it was more than amazing, the actors was skilled, every thing was so good the sounds, music, acting and dancing. I would definitely come back for another show ️️️
Attended 2-29 performance. Top-notch experience. Tonight wasnt my first or third time but I am certain Ill be back again.
I have loved this place since I was a child, but I love it when more as an adult. We took our whole family to see Les Mis, and it was worth every cent. We sat in the balcony, row H, and the view was perfect. I think you could sit just about anywhere in the theater, and it would be enjoyable barring someone incredibly tall sitting in front of you. The selection of showe that comes through is extremely pleasing, and the prices are comparable to similar theaters. I also appreciate that the center sponsors numerous programs for young artists across the state. Great facility, great programming, and great philanthropy.
Two fantastic stages, intimate settings! Professional and courteous staff. Parking garage can be a little on the expensive side for this town. Heres a tip: park right across the street in the Muhammad Ali Centers parking garage for only $5!
The show was great (Rent), the sound was great, the view was great. However, the Kentucky Center auditorium was built with no center aisle. Our seats were near the middle, so fifty seats were on either side of us, with no other way to get out of the theater except for climbing over fifty other people.I cannot imagine how the place would be evacuated, and while its the remotest of possibilities, the reality of feeling trapped diminished my enjoyment of the show. I dont live in Louisville so my Broadway tour experience is not dependent on this theater, and Im glad for that. I wont visit again.
Well, thee lobby is going through a well needed renovation after the fire. Im glad to see they are they are doing the full monti to get it up to date. Dont let the reconstruction put you off. The folks are doing their best. The show we saw was perfect.
The repairs are done. Saw Miss Saigon and it was fantastic. So many props and many effects including the helicopter. A must see.
This is such a good venue for Broadway Shows. The acoustics are perfect and the seats are all good. The place can feel as intimate as necessary for the shows yet have no problem creating a larger than life moment.
I loved this place sow much because when I went to go see Hamilton it was a great play. They hired one of the best cast members they could ever pick. It was just a really great time for me and my peers.
I love Louisville. I really do. The downtown is so very fun to walk through with some new stores and restaurants hidden behind facades of original buildings. And tucked into the middle of this is the KCPA.Currently it’s undergoing some work so there are scaffolds and plastic marring the interior. That aside the stage and seating in the auditorium are Fantastic. Capital F Fantastic. And the ballets to which we’ve gone are so very good.Course I’m biased since our son dances for the Louisville ballet. That aside I highly recommend visiting a show of some sort, and especially a ballet at the KCPA. Get a nice glass of wine, bourbon or a beer. Find your seat and enjoy.
I was lucky enough to get tickets to Hamilton. It was a fantastic show and I would definitely see it again. This theater is easy to get to and has a parking garage around the corner. We had a free parking pass so I cant comment on the cost. The facility is undergoing renovations but it hasnt impacted the restrooms or bars. The bar is very nice but does not serve alcohol before 1pm on Sunday. You can order food from a limited menu. Prices are as to be expected. There is not a bad seat in the house. Although this venue doesnt have the character or charm of The Palace Theater this is where all the big plays and musicals come. I love coming here and dressing up. Going to see a play or musical is a fantastic experience.
Took a group of middle school students to see the Nutcracker ballet. What a wonderful experience. The students really enjoyed the show. The Kentucky Center is beautiful.
We saw the Lion King. It was a spectacular experience! As soon as it was over, I wanted to see it again. The people who work and volunteer here are so helpful and kind. We are so fortunate to have the Kentucky Center for the Arts in Louisville, Kentucky!
Season ticket holder for 7 years. We just Love our Shows. Miss Saigon was Amazing
Bert Kreischer made this place one of the best experiences but the facility was nice too. It was clean and organized.
This place is nice, conveniently located, and has good parking. The only (minor) negative thing about the parking/venue interface is that the parking garage is a little confusing in its layout. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, and theres a very good chance that the driver was distracted by a rapidly approaching show time .
I enjoyed Dancing In The Street The Music Of Motown immensely. Just a great entertaining show.
Had dinner at the restaurant and saw The Lion King. Great dinner and service and an amazing show!! Should probably be 5 stars but the seats in the theatre are quite uncomfortable. Otherwise, it was an amazing experience for the kids!!
Great place went there to watch my grandson sing in national honors choir,Hugh place, had great seats.good place to see.
Helpful and friendly staff. Dear Evan Hanson was spectacular. Will come back for a performance. There is remodeling in the lobby but that can easily be ignored.
Saw lion king... great great show. Center is doing some major renovations, so look past the construction areas; Im sure it will be great when its complete.
Always have the highest caliber shows and entertainment. They are working hard on rebuilding and making the space beautiful again after the fire. Everything remain functional despite the scaffolding in certain areas.
The building is undergoing a remodel. All the beautiful art was gone. However it dose not impact the Orchestra or Broadway Shows. Parking is better at the Muhammad Ali Center.
Tired if renovations. Hate seating! No isles, have to crawl over people to get to seats. Seats are way too close and tight. Balcony seats are spaced better but way too many steps to get to balcony. Not very handicapped accessible.Productions are wonderful, just hate the venue.
Fabulous theatre venue with great seats all around and easy parking all around. We saw the Nutcracker, and it was an awesome show.
Outstanding performance!!!!! But the chairs are so uncomfortable. Please replace them..also when you ask people to turn off their cellphones - please ask the same of their Apple watches..... the woman next to me would not stop checking hers! Super distracting!
Great field trip with my kiddo... Loved the performance and it was great that they didbset change so the kids could get a glimpse behind the scenes!
Awesome. The crowd was manageable and we were seated without any problems. The musical was awesome. No problems getting out of the parking garage.
The Kentucky Center is always a wonderful place to see shows! Even as they are undergoing construction everything was still great. There were lots of volunteers available to point you in the right direction. Ive seen many shows all over Whitney Hall and there really is not a bad place spot in the theatre to sit. Im so glad they were able to bring Hamilton!
We saw the Office musical & it was hilarious! This venue is really nice.
Jesus Christ superstar was amazing. The seats werent bad and the drinks were affordable
We had a great time. We hadnt been in awhile. We saw Hamilton. It was even better then I thought it would be. The orchestra seats were incredible. I cant wait to see another show soon.
Was honored to see the Hamilton musical with my daughter. It was an amazing, creative and educational production. The actors were brilliantly talented and interacted with the audience. The staff from host, vendor and security were very attentive, patient and courteous. Bravo! Ky Center for the Arts...Bravo!
It is always such a great experience coming to The Kentucky Center to see all the shows. Cant wait for our next outing there.
Saw The Nutcracker, it was very enjoyable.Easy parking at the garage adjoining.I will be at this venue for other events.
The show and the customer service were exceptional! Cant wait to go back and see the next sgow in February!
Because its just a great place to be if you wanna feel in wrapped in side a story
Always an awesome place. We have season passes and every time we go everyone is extremely friendly and helpful. Always very clean, wish they would finally finish the renovations though. Parking in the buildings garage is always the way to go and theres always space plus its affordable. Concessions are a little pricy but not over the top. Every play & ballet Ive seen there has been fantastic. Dont know if Im just unlucky but every time Ive gone there has been someone behind us that wants to talk and/or give commentary during the performance though. Cant blame the house for that though.
I was there just once....but it is so beautiful!! Saw my daughter sing in the All State Chorus.
I have had a wonderful experience every time I see a show here
Great place for shows. The venue is beautiful and great for large crowds.
Seeing Hello Dolly here was an experience of a lifetime. The sound was wonderful and the facility was great. They are in the process of major renovations but this did not hamper the production of this play. We had a wonderful time and cant wait to see what the completed facility will be like. Highly recommend going to the Center for any type of play or event.
I joined my son and his class to see Ghost and it was wonderful and so worth the bus ride there! The actors did a fantastic job and it lined right up with the book!
Love the renovations as I love going to many different events including an Awesome performance of JCSS tonight!
Nice staff. The place looked amazing. All over great experience.
Very well ran and nice center. I will be back for sure.
Like what they are doing at KCA. The orchestra is phenomenal. The Broadway shows are wonderful. Great staff and Im e joying what hing all the updates to the Center!
Excellent venue for concerts, etc. Parking is usually $10 or more for an event, though.
I saw Hamilton on June 16th. It was a great performance. Worth every penny. The crowd was sold out and the actors did an amazing job. Cant wait to see more shows soon.
It was a great experience to go to see a play here. The staff is friendly and helpful. And you have a great view from pretty much anywhere. Would recommend going to see a show here
It’s an intimate space. Seems clean and easily accessible. The chairs are so narrow though, it was uncomfortable, which was frustrating.
It wasnt that nice no handicap help no place for buggy or wheelchair. they sent my daughter on a wild goose hunt . they split the family up. said it was a engineers problem. it was a very bad experience. and we drove over 90 miles to be treated so bad. shame on performance arts in Louisville Kentucky
