An interesting place. Probably not going to be your highest priority on your visit to Louisville, but certainly qualifies for, maybe, the morning of your third day. Our elderly docent was well-informed.
The name is kind of misleading, he didnt really live there a lot. He just rented it out for period of time while he worked at a telegraph place. But its cheap. And the guy thats running it seemed pretty cool. He even put a lightbulb from the display case in a working socket because the old one burned out. Im not sure where the old one went but its probably sitting in one of the display cases there. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because a lot of the stuff there is reproduction but they have air conditioning so that is nice.
Thomas Edison rented a room here for a year when he was 19 years old. Now its a museum honoring his inventions. Its an adorable little house in an area that looks like its on its way back up.
Honestly, I expected this place to be way busier! Our tour guide was a great guy who helped us not only with the museum but with the surrounding area. Definitely, go here if you have time and youre nearby.
Interesting place. He lived there for a year and a half, didn’t invent anything there, and rented the home.
Great little piece of history here. Worth a look.
Small but interesting. Who knew!!! If youre in Butchertown.. why not stop in.. short trip with a knowledgeable guide for $5! Take it.. knowledge is worth it. You might learn by osmosis if nothing else!!
Don’t go too fast you will miss it
Fun little outing for the family. The gentleman who works there gave us a tour. If you like science and how it was like for folks in the old days, you should check this museum out. We take our phones, sound systems, movies for granted. Edison did more than just invent the light bulb. He had his hand in a lot of things...even dolls!
A fantastic tour through the life of a great individual who made monumental contributions to the world. I did not catch her name, but our tour guide today was very knowledgeable and accommodating. We spent about 30 minutes at the house.
Well done, good quality museum about the positives of Edisons career. Mostly inventions. No display about DC current or battles with Tesla. But still a good museum for its size.
Great historic house to visit and learn Edisons history
That was nice being there with my 10-year-old son. The gentelman who explained there was very nice, kind and lovely elderman. You can find kind of cool antice items there that can make your kids and even you surprise besides some information about Edison and hix life style. If you are a student at school or college you will pay only 3 dollars and if not was 5 or 6 I think. There was no parking problem on the weekend. You will take about 1 hour or so there.Any place worth to see once.
I went because my boyfriend wanted to go, but ended up enjoying it a great deal. Its a very small museum, but filled with white a few of Edisons inventions. Also, the tour guide was super nice, and is bilingual.
Awesome History place!
This is a house that Edison lived in. There are some of his inventions here. The guide is informable and personable. Small admission fee
Very interesting place to visit where Edison once lived. they have a lot of his inventions. There are many versions of the gramophone Dictaphone and of course what became a record player as well as inventions for a Telegraph key operator . Its a small place, by my brother and I spent a couple hours here.
A small building that contains a lot of history. Edisons Louisville connection is not always well known, but worth checking out.
This is a great place to go if you want to learn more about Thomas Edisons life and inventions. The staff was very knowledgable and cranked up the cylinder phonograph and we learned why cylinder recordings were not the best idea and why records were the winning format for the time.
Great tour guide in a house that is a very little known aspect of Thomas Edisons life. Its great that they preserved this. A must for any history or technology fan.
The Thomas Edison House was amazing! Todd was such a great tour guide. He was very knowledgeable, nice and personable. So much history and artifacts here. I learned so much about Edison.
Awesome place of history
Fascinating little slice of history. Very good tour guide who gave much interesting facts about Edison and other things. Dont overlook this little gem.
Very Interesting Tour and incredible artifacts!
It was neat to see all the old light bulbs, telegraph and other items. But, I thought they charged way too much for the small number of exhibits.
Lots of information in a small and quick stop, staff is very knowledgeable.
Such a cute yard and house! RIP Thomas :)
Lot of history in that small house, kids loved it, quick and very educational tour, very affordable.
This place is a must see!! I have been fascinated with Edison since I was a little child. The tour guide is fantastic.
For a small place the Thomas Edison House was very interesting. Our guide was awesome!!!
