Oh my, how things have changed. Quail Chase used to be one of the best courses in Louisville, KY. The course has taken a complete noise dive and has become a huge disappointment. The fairways are littered with crabgrass, the rough is so high and filled with crabgrass. Making it extremely difficult to find your ball. You would have to almost step on it to find it. The greens are on the slow side and they have a lot of spots in them which makes the bounce and tumble. Even before the city purchased the course, it was sliding down hill. The city just gave it a faster push. At $36, there are better options at a slightly higher price. The course might be good for players who are new to the game. But if youre a seasoned golfer, the course condition will be a huge disappointment and your game will reflect that. Good luck!
A little more money than others but they cut the fairways and keep the greens clean. People who play this fix ball marks and help take care of the course. Good shop and driving range prices. Enjoy the layout and your course management skills are needed to have good scores.
Very fun layout. Fairways in poor shape with most grass dormant but it is late October. Still had a great day
This was once a quality golf course. My dad and I used to play here all the time before the city bought it. I was excited to play this course again with my Dad and we were both so disappointed in the condition. I’m giving it 2 stars because the greens were still decent. $37 is an outrageous price for a course that is in disrepair.
Played 06/19 at 9:30AM with cart $37. 1st time at QC in 15 years, its changed but so has every other public course now owned by the Metro. Very friendly staff, played East/South 9s. Greens were in very good shape and fast. Tee boxes in great shape, we played the Black tees. Fairways are still growing and expanding. Rough was tough. NO sand in the traps but like every other course in Louisville. Great round of golf, no complaints. Pace of play was great with no issues. Hot day, no hassles, no issues.
Course was in rough shape. 1st 3 holes on south side were not cut. I have seen it in much better shape. Played south and west. Its a shame to see this place go down hill, could be so much more than it is!!
Though a slightly bougie staff.. Its still a great course... But to brag about being the every mans country club course try talking to your staff about how to treat walk-ins and out of towners....it may help with repeat business outside your local pool... Though the local people pay your bills... The return experience for randoms is your bonuss
Show up Monday morning with out a T time alone. Got me out with out a problem. Very accomadating. Very nice staff. The course and complete atmosphere is great. I will be back. Sooner than later.
I would give it a zero if I could. I took my sons today. It used to be one of my favorite courses in town. Not anymore. The fairways are terrible and greens arent much better. Ever since the city took it over it has gone down hill fast. Will not be going back. O and they almost doubled the cost. Save your money
Friendly staff, good pace of play, course in pretty good shape. Tee boxes could use some attention.
I had to share a cart with another guy that came in before I did. I found this out when he came out and said he had to ride with me. I went in and told the people that I didn’t want to share a cart with somebody else. He said “that’s not how it works here... 2 people per cart... there’s plastic in the middle for covid” My friends I met there were already waiting at the tee and I had no time to play anywhere else, so I just shared, sweaty plastic sticking to my arm the whole way seperating me and my appointed golfing partner
Solid course, good value. Conditions could use an improvement.
Played terrible. All the tee boxes not cut, very high grass. No excuse BUT!? I like the course. Not today.
Course and layout is fine. Problem here is it’s difficult to play regularly. Always scrambles going on to prevent open play. The pro shop seems reluctant to let open play for a variety of reasons. Today it was a frost delay of “at least 2 hours.” Drove to Penn Run. Got right on. Even shady greens were just wet. No frost!! Guy there said it was too warm for frost as a problem. Yet once again, Quail Chase came up with a reason we couldn’t play.
If you are looking to play off dirt and pay a premium this is the place. No, it is not because of the grass in winter but also spring 2 months of summer and the fall. They have not had tee box yardage markers out in years. This would be ok, I guess, if it wasnt so expensive even in the winter when most shots are hit off the dirt. Dont get me started on the sand, I think when city govmt took over they started getting their hands in the money and quit making it nicer.
Great place to play, practice, and get quality instruction.
Its a very challenging course had a nice time playing
Course was in horrible condition. The expression Goat Ranch applies here. Not worth the price they charge. Never going back there. Parking lot and driveway is just as ba . Potholes everywher .,
Over booked so bad it took 3 1/2 hours to only play the front 9!
27 holes, was in good shape.
Revised 6/17/20.Conditions have not improved much as fairways are still in bad shape but the greens were in better shape than last time. But more importantly, the citys coronavirus protocols are not being followed during this visit. Instead of single rider per cart, the course has attached a sheet of plastic in the center of the cart and is now forcing two riders per cart. Even more disturbing is that when I turned in the cart after the round, the attendant hosed the grass out of the bottom of the cart and then pulled the cart back to the clubhouse for the next set of riders. No cleaning, no sanitation, nothing! The course reached out to me after sending an email to them and assured me that this was a mistake and not the normal policy of the course. He assured me that employees would be advised and trained again to follow proper procedures going forward.Revised 9/9. Although the conditions are the same, I had stopped playing at Quail Chase due to the way the rounds were being assigned. I decided to try them again to see if it was better. You go off fine and at a normal pace but as you finish the first nine, you find 3 new groups backed up on the back nine. The clubhouse claims that they did not assign any new starts on that side but if that was the case, they need to pay closer attention to where people are starting or have a marshal. I have never seen a marshal since the city took over and it shows! 2 hours to play the front and over 3 hours to play the back should prove to be a problem.I have played this course for several years and have always been pleased. Now that the city has taken control of the course, its condition has went down a small amount. The staff is nothing but terrific. You could not ask for any better service. The only complaint would have to be the price, which is higher than similar courses. And the metro city golf pass does not allow you to utilize it on weekends, only weekdays. If the city is not careful, the course will go from being one of the premier courses in Louisville to just another course with higher prices.
This is our home course, play here every week. Very friendly staff, the pro shop is stocked to get you through your round with anything you need. The snack bar and restrooms are very clean. Driving range is great to warm up on, and the two practice greens are great. The course is fun and challenging to play.
Very disappointed. Played a couple of rounds last season, and felt like course conditons were sub par. Decided to give it try again this season. Awful, fairways terrible, tee boxes not good. I realize we have had a lot of rain, but this was unacceptable. Not worth $41. Wont be back.
Nice greens !!
Course is great. Its $9.00 more than Seneca and easily $9.00 better. I only make this comparison because Seneca has a better rating when Quail Chase is always in Significantly better condition with better service(clubhouse will send drinks out to you, give you ice, etc), better carts, better range, all together better experience. I never have to second guess myself when someone offers quail chase as the venue.
41.00 is way over priced for this course, not a course for the average player, right off the 1st tee box it says no mulligans, we played 2 off of one and ten if needed a 1 mulligan per 9 holes. If I pay you 41.00 for a mediocre course Ill play the way I want to and did, not to mention the deer flies are horrific there Payed Vahala prices and got a Maplehurst corse. Save your money folks.
I cant understand how anyone gave this place anything but 5 stars Ive played everywhere around Louisville and this is leaps and bounds the best course you can find unless you a members only club, and its nicer then some of those. Its manicured, multiple tees to play from kart paths are mostly hidden from sight. The scenic view of the place I thought was amazing. They are super nice and helpful in the club house. I felt warm and welcomed the whole time. Just set a tee time you wont be disappointed!
Have played this course on and off for about five years now. Lots of well designed, challenging golf holes and the scenery is very nice. But their still trying to sell country club experience and its just not that... Its not worth the $50/round they charge for peak rates. Go play heritage hill or chariot run instead. Youll be happy you did.
We played Quail Chase for the time today and enjoyed it so much that we decided to play another 18. The layout was scenic and challenging with a wide variety of styles of holes. The East was by far our favourite even though the fairways were drenched from a couple of days rain. The afternoon round on East was considerably drier, so the drainage was quite good. We really enjoyed the elevation changes as it gave us a wonderful view of the course and all the wildlife native to Kentucky. The staff was exceptional, really proving the saying Southern Hospitality. In fact, we felt as welcome as our own club. When we come back to Kentucky, Quail Chase will be at the top of our list of places to play.
Very well taken care of. Greens are very good with speed. Nice customer service and awesome pro shop. If you love golf you will love Quail Chase golf course. And they have 27 holes!!!!
Terrible shape.
My friends and I played here several times this year. The course is in excellent shape -- fairways are perfect and greens rolling fast and true. Quail has 3 different 9s, so everytime you play, it feels a little different, and that makes it a great place for a home course. Staff were friendly and helpful; clubhouse with bar, good food, and big screen tvs. Plus, theyre open seven days. Recommend it for golfers at any skill level..
Way over priced.
Very nice course. Some hole are pretty challenging for an average duffer but very well maintained and beautiful
Beautiful course, my only complaint is every water station was completely out of water.
OVER PRICED, HORRIFICALLY SLOW
EAST COURSE IS THE BEST 9 HOLES IN THE CITY----LOVE THE VARIETY OF HOLES.
My favorite place to play when I am there on business . The course is always in great shape and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
Great place to play. Its always a different experience with 3 9 hole courses.
Quality golf course. Prefer the east over the south or west. Course is in great shape usually, slighty overpriced. Look for discount coupons.
Clean, well cared for course with good prices.
Course is in Great shape, and the greens were soft !
Great people and usually in good condition
Course is in terrible condition. Charged our group full price without any knowledge that the fair ways were basically desert.
Really fun course with friendly staff.
Course was in very good shape
Great Staff, 27 holes nice course
Best public course in louisville
Great course
Stay away for another week or two to give fairways a chance to come in
