Love the place. Ive been going there every year for 10 years fo make ornaments with my family.
So many reasons why this place is awesome. Set up everything with Tiffany and she showed me samples of everything to get an idea. After some wild ideas I had, she helped me tone it down to understand the properties of what the glass can and cannot do. John Stokes worked with me on Spirit Pieces for one of my dogs. He was so respectful, knowledgable and just all around awesome. Because of the hot shop they work in, the shop walls are open. He put a cover over the ashes so the wind wouldnt blow them away. I didnt think about that at the time but just that small touch was thought out in a away that I didnt-- in grief. I got two hearts done. He worked with me from start to finish and let me in on the creative process. Each heart is completely different which attests to both his technique as well as what the glass just does in the fire. Just go with it and it becomes more awesome. I was able to choose colors etc. and he was nice enough to tell me what colors look like after. Meaning in the jar vs in the fire. I appreciated that because once it goes in the fire its too late. You really dont know what the fire will do. You just trust. And let crafter do what they know how to do. Thats the beauty of it. Several days later once cooled the piece actually comes out better than what you first see. All around theyre just cool peeps! Rave, rave, rave!!! Ill be back! Just go!
These people have so much talent! My family and I have come here on three separate occasions and we have never been disappointed. Looking for something to do with your kids on vacation? This is the place to go and get a souvenir that you will cherish forever.
You get to blow the glass but someone else handles all the poles and does the real work. The artists are great and very helpful. It is cheaper to just buy the glass in their store than to make it but if you want the experience its worth it. Just save your money and buy from their shop if you want more than one item.
I was so excited about doing this! I called ahead, asked about doing bourbon glasses, was told with the holidays they are just slammed busy and couldn’t do it. So, we decided to do a ornament, anyways. We got there and the place was empty. We were the only ones. Still excited, we went to blow our glass and felt very rushed. When we were checking in, the lady talked about different designs, but that was never even an option. . . It was just quickly done and over with. It only took maybe 5 minutes and we were out the door. Great concept, but $40 each for 5 minutes each is crazy. . . And you get no say but a little color choice. We literally blew into a tube for 30 seconds, if that. It was the only Interaction we had. Maybe we just hit an off time and we are excited about having our own glass, just a little disappointed.
Great gifts
Place beautiful and the room is bigger, near on a inn, for a better location, so es good
Extremely interesting place to visit. Admission is free and you can sit in a gallery and watch expert glass of wine blowers actually making the glass. Their skill in this area is amazing to watch. You can purchase the merchandise and also make your own art.
Love this place. Very nice people and very excited to share their craft
Go there, educational and fun. Eric, the guy that runs the place is great, the glass blowers are great, your art will be great. Have fun, a little pricey, but, you will have a family heirloom and a good story to tell.
Ive been here before when they were creating a large masterpiece. I feel like it is not the safest place to go with children though.
Nice gallery that leans towards artful functional and smaller decorative pieces. There is a range of prices, so you will probably go home with something you like. Excellent air-conditioned viewing area of the glass artists. I did the hands-on experience and all you do is blow into the tube. Go for a class if you want to do more. It was reasonably priced though for what it was. The artist was friendly and answered my questions. Very friendly salesperson in the gallery. Find 50% off items in the back.
This was very fun! We got to assist in making our own pumpkin and they sent it to us promptly after we were back home. It was great!
Why havent you done this yet? DO IT!This is one of the neatest interactive events my wife and I have done in Louisville. To see first hand how these artist create these pieces of art are amazing. Every person that we interacted with was so nice and helpful.Remember that your created piece will need to cool overnight...so plan on a second visit, or shipping!
Flame run is an awesome working glass studio with hot and warm glass classes and a full glass gallery and open window studio. They offer crazy high end Dale Chihuly type art to totally down to earth art anyone can afford. You can even make your own! The owners are awesome and throw great parties. If you havent been to one yet stop in on a summer night during the First Friday Hop.
Awesome experience, pick your choice of items to make, pick your colors, learn about the glass making process while you get to blow glass and complete your creation.
My family came down to Louisville for the weekend and wanted something fun that we could all do. We scheduled an appointment at Flame Run to blow our own glass pieces. What a great experience! We were fortunate to have Brook, the owner, work with us. He explained the process step by step, and allowed us to blow the glass to make the pieces we wanted. To top it off, they had a gallery with beautiful glass work. We had a wonderful experience. Highly recommend it.
The owner and his staff are so talented and helpful
Talented, friendly and unusual! A wide selection of items, in addition to make your own ornaments, or other custom pieces. Highly recommend.
I was driving by and seen them hand blowing glass, so i stopped. Parking was easy and close. Everyone was friendly. Great viewing areas. Informative staff. Amazing art. Def going to seek out an internship here this summer! Place and people are awesome
What a great experience. Rudy was great helping me blow my own glass ornament. My husband and I were there near the end of the day and were lucky enough to get a behind the scenes look at the glass shop from the owner Brook. It was great we learned quite a bit. I would definitely do it again!
Interesting Art Gallery where you can help make the art
Really fun way to send a couple of hours, plus you have a homemade souvenir to take with you
Cool experience. Not as much interaction as I would have hoped... Molten glass safety... Probably a good idea not to let just anyone sling it around.
This was my first visit. There was so much to see.
Great time! Very friendly and polite! Will be back.
Amazing to watch old school glass blowing and shaping with tools and fire.
Guy at the front desk was so annoyed and rude we just left. Won’t be back again.
An excellent outing with a small group. Very friendly glass makers and a nice atmosphere.
Went here for my birthday with my fiance, was definitely the coolest present ever
I had a sister that passed away a few months ago and my other sister got some of her ashes and had a vase made out of them they did an awesome job and very reasonable thank you
Loved the exquisite blown glass objects and watching them being formed !
Fun to see the glass blowing process
It was beautiful but way to pricey
If you are into art you will love this place. If not it is a quick stop to see glassblowing and shop glassblowing souvenirs
Interesting place to view glassblowing and sculpting and see beautiful glass art.
Designed and created unique blown glass items. Participated in the actual process beginning with a globule of molten glass to the finished product.
Once in a lifetime experiencePeople were great.
Nice glass blowing place with a chance to see artists in action.
Go see it. Bring your wallet. VERY EXPENSIVE !!!
We have been coming to Flame Run for 4 years to make ornaments at Christmas. Everyone here is really nice, the artists who help with making the ornaments are patient and fun. Well be back!

AWESOMENESS
When we walked in both staff members in each store were on the phone... Didnt even seem to acknowledge we were there but we walked around and looked in the stores petted the little dog in the store. Then we left.. Since we couldnt go upstairs to look at other things since there was no security guard to help us...
One of the most under-rated treasures of Louisville. It should be front and center on all lists of attractions. We go every year to blow Christmas ornaments. It is a MUST DO!
