I was blown away by how amazing the inside of this building was. Came expecting to see Rocky Horror and Moulin Rouge, but what I did not expect to see was an old school organ in the dead middle of the stage with an old man just pounding away at some great tunes. This place is classy and a great way to impress any person.
The Los Angeles Theatre, completed January 1931 is a gem of 1920s. The theater is used for various functions from time to time. The LA Conservancy does walking tours that guide you through. The details of the building are incredible and a stunning sight, particularly the entry and the theater itself. There are some details that you might miss, namely the different marbles in each of the Ladies stalls. The Gents room is large but not as ornate as the Ladies.Definitely worth a visit if you are lucky enough to get a reason to go!
This is an incredibly gorgeous theater! Were from Denver and came into town for a concert and was blown away! Manchester Orchestra was incredible, the sound was great and the lighting was fantastic! Unfortunately they get one star because they were doing one in one out on the general admission floor, I dont know if they oversold the place, or if the fire marshal just had his panties in a bunch. But I went out to get a beer for my wife and I and I couldnt rejoin her without standing in an outrageously long line.
I must admit that if the show you are seeing does not really require a close up the view of the ceiling and boxes along the upper sides is nothing short of spectacular, including the art deco chandelier. The acoustics are awesome so no matter where you actually sit, the sound is marvelous. If you have not been and are considering a show, it comes with our highest recommendations!
Very beautiful theatre, I will be going back eventually. The intricate designs were absolutely stunning.
Your customer service reps keep directing my call to a looped message with no options. I get the show is cancelled due to Covid, but we are hurting for monet too. Are you simply going to steal my wifes money? Did you think that would work? Did you think thats acceptable? Dont support this theatre until they take care of their customers. They will rob you and place you on read.
Phantom of the Opera was an amazing experience, my 1st ever! From entering the Los Angeles Theatre up until the end of the event, I was mesmerized with the elegance and beauty of the theater. The audience generated an electric atmosphere and the case was amazing.
Lovely theatre, but horrible ushers with no idea how their seating works. There was so much confusion regarding the balcony sections, everyone was lost and the ushers didn’t help matters as they were clueless as well. I had to open up a seating chart to assist them at one point. Band was great so the night wasn’t ruined.
My favorite of the Broadway movie palaces! A must-see! Its only open for select events. Try the LA Conservancys annual Last Remaining Seats showings, or Night on Broadway in January. Dont forget to check out the ballroom downstairs, and the amazing Ladies Room. Be aware, its not friendly to anyone who has trouble with stairs, and the main floor seats have limited legroom.
This is where BTS shoot their MV Black Swan.Though Ive never been here before, I would love to visit here someday in my life.Incredible
I went here to see “The Birds” from Alfred Hitchcock (great movie and director) presented by the Last Remaining Seats and the theatre is extremely beautiful! So much attention to detail and reminded me of when I visited the Palace of Versailles! The main auditorium could use a little TLC, but it was still stunning to see. There’s also no AC so it can get a little hot but I pretty much always have that expectation in mind when entering buildings that are this old (built in 1931). An amazing place to host an event! They just don’t build them like this anymore!
Historic theater is amazing. Must see.
This us the most comfortable of the old Broadway movie palaces. We come here every year can see one of the last remaining seats series. Im always amazed by the lobby, the three-dimensional curtain, and the remaining decorative elements in the theater itself. Do check it out when you can.
Beautifully restored historical building. Restored to its original charm. Amazing chandeliers and painted ceilings.
Had a great time but they need to repair the floor I stepped on a nail and it went threw my shoe.
If you love old theaters put this one on your list and learn its history. Tour the upstairs and downstairs gathering areas especially with a lot of people milling about and imagine how popular it was in 1931 when movies were king. If you see a period movie there, the sound is best on the loge level, one up from orchestra.
BTS, global pop sensation from South Korea, filmed their official MV for Black Swan here. Amazing!
I saw Manchester Orchestra at this venue and while the band and show were phenomenal a couple of the security staff almost ruined the entire night. They were very aggressive and confrontational to patrons who were being polite and respectful. The guy at the door was beyond the worst. He talked down to everyone and seemed to want to start fights. They also poorly directed people in line and didn’t let anyone know which line was which until 2 minutes before doors. This was awful considering we had been in line for over 2 hours to be told that we had to go to the back of the line on the other side. Even though we had asked staff if we were in the right line. The one staff told us to tell the guard at the other line to let us through and he was beyond aggressive. Otherwise a decent venue. Though some repair is desperately needed in the otherwise beautiful interior.
Gary Numan was incredible! The only, and THE BEST reason to come out to the LA theatre, or any theatre anywhere, for that matter. He rocked the house and left me with an experience I will NEVER forget. The LA theatre was a suitable place for the Lion himself (Gary Numan) and his pride of immaculate and precise musicians to storm that stage with more power and fury than Ive ever seen anyone execute a piece of art like that before!
An absolutely amazing theatre from 1931when the grand opening was performed by Charlie Chaplin and Albert Einstein.....the details everywhere is like taking a walk to the past..... unbelievable!
Was at the showing of Who Framed Roger Rabbit last year. I already knew it was gorgeous inside but when I saw it for real I was knocked out. A little bit worn but nothing a little work wouldnt fix. So glad its still a movie palace and I cant wait to go back. This is a beautiful treasure hidden amid the ugly squalor of Downtown L.A.
BTS, global sensation, group from South Korea, filmed their MV for Black Swan here. Check it out!
Went to the Manchester Orchestra show and the staff was beyond awful. They oversold and I was no longer allowed to meet with the rest of my group in GA. The bouncer told me “next time I should consider buying VIP.” We all ended up leaving during the set. Not to mention, you can’t see any portion of the band from the back. I’m waiting on the Spaceland staff to follow up with me via text to hopefully work things out.Beware of the awful security. One hour wait to get in the venue. Unprofessionalism. Oversold GA.The venue itself is beautiful and I imagine if the staff improves and they sell fewer tickets, that you could really fall in love with this venue. For us, we’re out the cost of 3 tickets, the cost of transportation, our time, and spending money on premium priced beer and cocktails. I won’t be back here.
An amazing historical landmark.
I visited this beautiful theater in the summer of 1963 to watch The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm and The Cattle King as a double feature. It was mid afternoon when the smog was dense and the heat was sweltering on the street, I sat in the air conditioned balcony with my mother. I can still remember the opulence and the pure wonder I had at seeing such an elegant place. That was 55 years ago. I am pleased that it is being preserved.
Beautiful impressive theatre. Historical and well kept.
What can you say about a landmark in your city? Its one of the most beautiful theaters and the country and it is well worth a visit. Whether youre visiting from another part of the country of world or if you live in the Southland this is a must-see. Its architecture is beyond compare and I hope you get a chance to experience it for yourself.
Super atmoshere, but closed to the public withoutreservations. The type of theatre from the 1920s.
Bootleg, sad, mismanaged and unorganized. Just a think veiled playground for insecure, overcompensating narcissists.
This is the most beautiful building in Los Angeles. I got to experience it during the weekend of Summit. It has left a lasting impression on me. Being in the building made me feel like I had been transported to another world. I cant wait to go back!
The biggest, best well preserve and the most beautiful theatre from all the old Broadway theatres. Built in the 20s.
Love this theatre. Only one I will to to. Very clean and comfortable. They have recliner chairs that are very comfortable to sit in! Only downer is sometimes they dont work . Other than that, I wish they have more staff in the snack area because Ive waited over 15 min every time on weekends!
Watched The Wedding Singer with my love!
Its beautiful and should not be redone.
Authentic interior sends you back in time. The original design and fixtures, large powder room downstairs and huge theater flanked with two sculptures in melodrama.
WOW!! The architecture is amazing!!! If you get a chance to go in this building, do it.... and look up! :) (also has really good acoustics).
Beautiful old theater. I am so glad that it has been restored and is being maintained as the historical theater that it is. I hope that it stays that way. I loved going there. It is worth seeing, and going to an event there.
Could have been converted to a church or swap meet when you walk by, but it turns out this is a historic theater with some evidence of it being run down despite its attempt to rehabilitate. This place had to have been gorgeous in its prime. It was great place to host great acoustics. Didnt disappoint for the experience. Sadly, no bacon wrapped hot dog vendors where to be found. If you need to park. Try and grab a meter at 6 or pay at the lot.
I really want to visit this place because of BTS
A great place for performing arts. Several stages. Awesome foyer. Love the spiral staircase.
How can you improve on such classical beauty? You can come close by visiting the Ace Hotel down the street and step into the old United Artists theater. These two facilities will leave you captivated by their rich history and incredible architecture.
Beautiful old theater. Could use some repair work, but still beautiful.
My daughter and I went to an LA Conservancy showing of Who Framed Roger Rabbit and it was a great experience! The theater is amazing! Kudos to everyone who works to make these showings happen, and thanks to the LA Conservancy in general for all their work. Just wish Id had some cash for refreshments!
Went for a Cinespia event and was amazed by the venue. Simply beautiful! No one in my group was expecting what we saw. We were shocked when we went downstairs and so how many people were there dancing. Its much bigger than any of us have it credit for.
Stunning old theater playing classic movies.
Classic theater located at the heart of Broadway. They dont have many plays no more. If you get a chance, go catch a play!
It was beautiful!! Except the unexpected ramp walking into the theater causing me to fall. :(
Great theaters! Clean spacious seating and the food quality is good.Sound is always top notch.
So gorgeous!!
Awesome place.
The best
First time there...exquisite theater. Perfect lighting, perfect sound!
This place is absolutely beautiful. The fixtures and decor are stunning. It makes me sad this gem is in DTLA with terrible parking and a lot of homeless people and weirdos. I wish all of Downtown was still like the LA when this amazing theater was built.
Sick architecture. Gigantic venue!
I bought tickets to a show in Agoura Hills. Whoever does their see made like they were the canyon club. I fell for it and paid double. Minutes later I realized that I was had and they didnt care, because of their no refund policy. Ill never again purchase tickets from this scalping ticket agency. I hope you do not either.
The most beautiful and unique theater I have ever seen. Was able to tour it during an L.A. Conservancy historic theater tour. Is 100% worth it if you appreciate historic architecture and film history.
Really good show. 5 stars.
The decor and atmosphere was too good..really best one in CA.
Historic place ...gotta love these time capsules
A very old beautiful theatre in DowntownLA. Loved watching Alfred Hitchcocks classic The Birds there...
Nice theatre, comfortable seats, nice food, very clean, good sound
The place is huge. Just an amazing theater. I do wish there was more art or movie related material. Cant wait to see a movie or show there sometime.
I love this place,
Love these old school theaters. Beautiful architecture and a very nastalgic vibe
Absolutely gorgeous architecture! However, restrooms are a pain to get to if youre there for an event, parking is a pain in DTLA, VERY limited drink selection ( Heineken or an IPA)
Great staff
Awesome venue!
Attended a showing of an old movie by the LA Conservancy. Its an historical theater thats impressive, but not properly maintained.
Its a great place full of local history where now days is where many important events are taking place.
By far the most beautiful and opulent theatre on Broadway. I could describe it, but you wouldnt believe me. Think if Versailles were a movie theatre...
Place had great artefact that you cant see anywhere else. Bathroom old and differt.marble ever were
AC is lacking. Otherwise great
Beautiful. Breathtaking. A really nice and classy venue.
BEAUTIFUL VENUE
What a beautiful venue space.
Nice looking building
One ladies restroom at the basement, needs to maintain the murals...
Beautiful opulent interiors take you back to a golden era of entertainment.
I went there to hear a speaker on the Holocaust. Very well maintained theater very helpful people and an very enlightening speaker
Incredible venue
First time time visited during Night on Broadway LA this past weekend. I was in awe of the beauty of this classic theater. I hope they open to the public more.
A step back in time when beauty was important.

Went there to see Lucent Dossier experience it was an awesome show and an awesome theater.
Very beautiful architecture
It is the most beautiful old theater. Loved it
I find this theater to be a real gem and Im looking forward to to enjoy shows in this and other equaly beautiful theaters on Broadway.
Small on the outside, HUGE on the inside. LAs grand dame of Broadway theaters. Go if you can.
Worth taking the tour to see this theater.
You know... They dont make em like this anymore. You gotta chance? Experience it.
I had a great experience at this movie theater. Great location in los angeles downtown.
Beautiful interior! Glad to have the theaters back open on Broadway!
Its one of the grand old movie palaces. They only open for special events. For me its a must see in Los Angeles.
Great venue beautiful building
