We celebrated my daughters 4th B-day here. The place looked clean, colorful. The kids had a blast riding on the ponies, riding the train (I didnt like all the half eaten dulls and scary faces on the way) and jumping in the jumper. Feeding the goats and just walking around the little farm.
Awesome place ... kids loved it.We giraffe feeding was fun but honestly a little pricey for what we go . Overall staff was fantastic!
My wife and i took our daughter and she had a blast. It is free admission and you can learn a lot. The only catch is if your child wants to play on the train set you can purchase a little toy train for 15 dollars in the gift shop. I cant complain though because admission is free and we had a great time! There is even a train ride the kids can go on. Super fun time over all!
We went here last summer for a birthday, which the kids had a great time at. The kids loved the mini-train rides, the pony rides, and petting the goats. Beyond all the stuff I just mentioned the kids had a a blast jumping in the jumpers, eating some of the old fashion candy items available at the store (pink popcorn!), and getting their face painted. This is a place we would definately come back to.
Great spot for kids. My daughter loves all this friendly farm has to offer. From the face painting, train rides, pony rides and brushing/ feeding the goats.
Wow parking behind the farm yay.. but go early when open.. cuz its crowded.. manage to get 2 rides in only.. long line... but is still worth even we only had half day fun.. but if you have whole day to spare.. go go go ...
Let me begin by saying there was a 2 hour wait to enter this museum. There are 2 lines, one for pre-purchased tickets and one for onsite purchases. We waited in the pre-purchased line for nearly 45 minutes before an employee told us the difference. We were then directed to a website (I forget the name) to purchase tickets. When we were near the door a different employee told us that we purchased through the wrong website. After explaining that an employee told us what to do, we were given the all the clear.
Ok, its not the fancy-schmancy, over-stimulating, hi-tech, over-the-top kind of thing you might expect in just-for-kids places nowadays. My kids loves Lemos Farm for the good, old fashioned, simple, low-tech fun.
We love this store.. our lids love this store (way too much).. and cant wait to be able to come back after pandemic
Travel Town is so fun! We loved getting to walk through the train engines and cars! We were moving at a leisurely pace and saw everything in 2.5-3 hours. We were there on a Saturday and people were giving tours of the train they are working on restoring. They also have a miniature train to ride. $3.50 for adults and $3 for children. It goes around the perimeter of Travel Town twice.Parking is free. Admission is free. They request donations. You are welcome to bring your own food into the area to picnic with the trains.
This is a good attempt to preserve and present a part of the West’s train heritage. It’s relatively a small place with a few train collections but the grounds which are ample enough to accommodate kids on a field trip compensate for it. If you’ve been to the Sacramento Railroad museum, you might be disappointed between the disparity of the exhibits - but hey, this place offers free visits so give it some credit. I recommend this to kids especially if you’re around the Griffith Park area, check it out, bring some snacks and have fun!
I always love coming here with my kids! Every time we are in town we always visit and take pictures. Doesn’t matter how young or old you are....seeing these big locomotives always makes you smile. People here are very kind as well and informative. I recommended visiting this place.
This place is free but if you want to ride it will cost you about 3$ each. Reasonable price. The trains are old and awesome to see. They are huge and you can go in few of them. The place is crowded with artists but it is okay. Lots of family come this place which is great if you have kids. There is place to have picnic and you can organize party. The parking is big and free.
Very good spot if you are travelling with young kids. They have a large collection of old trains, you can approach them and even get inside. The place also features a few interesting exhibits. There are a few tables inside to you can picnic there. The only inconvenience is that its close to the highway to its always a bit noisy
I absolutely love coming here with the family. I’ve been coming here for over 10 years and it’s always been extremely pleasant. It’s never too crowded it’s always easy to find parking, find a place to picnic and let the kids play. They trains and engines are big and the kids love them. Going inside the passenger carts and taking pictures is nice too. All the kids and grown ups love the little train that takes you around the park. It’s extremely affordable and fun. The little indoor museum is also very unique with different kinds of cars and even circus carts from different times. You can come here all year round. But my favorite time is the fall time. The colors of the leaves are turning brown and fall on the floor making it a beautiful scene. This is one of my favorite parks in Los Angeles. I will continue to come here and bring my kids here they never ever complain about coming here. Highly recommend this park to anyone!
Cool little park/musuem. Great for kids birthdays/get togethers. The cars can be rented and are affordable ( 150 after getting your deposit back). They have a fridge and has air conditioning inside. Lots of trains to look at with a cute train ride that goes around the park. Only down side is there isnt any trains you can really climb which is all the kids want to do.
As a free museum mainly outdoors, its great, but it needs to be maintained. For example, there is a beautiful old cable car, but now it is not only becoming fragmented, even signs are gone, there are many other exhibits that are breaking. They all need to be repaired and then taken indoors. It is not suitable for coming here when the weather is very hot. The only building inside is too hot. I know they cant install air conditioners, because its a big house like a barn. There are two big doors that are always open, but they can have some big fans on the ceiling to stir the air, because even if the door is open, its still a bit stuffy. However, it is worth to look at it at least once.
This is a great little place to explore in Griffith Park, especially if you love trains. Lots of areas to let the kids run and play, picnic, and lots of trains to view. Theres a childrens area with a train table; be sure to visit the train store to borrow a couple of trains to use at the train table. A small snack bar, public restrooms, and gift shop as well.
No entry fee ! Good weekend hangout place for children. They have good collection of steam / diesel / electric locomotives, cabooses, freight cars and tankers. There few old trucks and cars on display. They have kids activity zone and train which goes around the place. Lots of trees. You can cover entire park on foot.
My kids loved this place. It has not changed at all since I was a little kid and I think that is part of what makes it so great is that it is a wonderful place to go and see people.
Fun place to walk around and have the kids climb around and look. The Gift Shop is fun for the kids too.
Great enviorment for kids and adults. My wife and i took our daughter and she had a blast. It is free admission and you can learn a lot. Travel Town is a super (and free!) attraction for train enthusiasts, both young and old. It is a compact attraction with room for kids to explore. We visited on a Sunday morning and it was not crowded and there was plenty of parking, too. The kids loved exploring the various trains including many of the hands-on attractions. We also enjoyed a train ride around the park, which came with a reasonable cost. There is a picnic area that has some vending machines. There is a cute museum shop that sells train-themed items, at prices comparable to similar retail outlets.
Great free museum. You can probably skip the train ride which is just a loop around the yard with not particularly good views. (Southern railroad at Griffith Park is a much more enjoyable ride. Visit here for sure, but if you’re waffling about which train to ride, pick that one.) The old engines are great and fun to see. Wish you could enter a higher percentage of the old engines and cars because that’s definitely the highlight of this place.
My kids loved it! They were completely awestruck at the size of a real engine and had a blast climbing inside.
Good place! I recommend
This was great!! A lot of history and the Harvey Girls museum!! Lots to see if you love trains!!
My 9 year old nephew loves this place. He can play with the trains, which he enjoys, and they have a small trian you can ride around the park.
Stopped in and found that this place wasn’t what I was expecting. Seems like a good place to take the kids for a bit but not very big. As soon as we entered we weren’t even sure where to go. Probably great if you’re really into trains.
We cant go to Griffith Park--which we do a lot, living as close as we do--without visiting Travel Town (or, as my wife always calls it, Toontown; I think she has a crush on Roger Rabbit). I cant decide if its my obsession or that of my wife; maybe its a shared thing, but we love trains (and this has nothing to do with sex, believe it or not).
Nice place to see trains in a park setting.
Fun afternoon trip with some interesting locomotives. Has a Fred Harvey display, a nice surprise, a unique treat. Not real big but worth the stop. Free entry, only cost is to ride the mini train- fun for kids or the kids at heart. Train goes around the yard twice, otherwise it’s a pretty easy walk. There were several families with young kids that seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Was my favorite place as a child & still one of my favorite places as an adult. Although the rest of Los Angeles is a mecca for the criminals & the homeless, TravelTown retains its unique character and charm as one one Americas few places to actually climb into a real locomotive. Thats right, at Travel Town one can actually feel what it is like to be in the cab of an historic Iron Horse. Get here soon B4 GOD decides to send this city to the ash heap of history like he did to Sodom & Gomorrah!

We visited Travel Town in the afternoon (wed spent the morning and lunch at the LA Zoo just down the road) with our 2 young kids (age 6 and 3) as part of our week-long spring break vacation in the LA area. We thoroughly enjoyed this free zoo! I think we stayed a couple of hours. We enjoyed the train ride around the perimeter of the park. There were train cars and engines we could climb in and others just to view from the ground. This was an easy in and out, 2-3 hour activity that we enjoyed almost as much as our kids. Highly recommend for younger kids and families.
Cool little place for small children are ones who love trains
I was basically dragged here and then I didnt want to leave.really great museum. tons of great things to see.Very fun for the family. the kids can get up close and personal with the trains. Great exhibits
Great fun with the family, good for parties, train rides.
Been coming here for years. First me, then my kids, and now my grandkids. The price is right(free), the people friendly and always have fun for an hour or so.
GREAT FAMILY FUN! PARK IS CLEAN! TRAINS AND EXHIBITS ARE IN GREAT CONDITION FOR THE AGE OF THE DISPLAYS- LOOKS AS GOOD AS WHEN I VISITED AS A KID... KEEP UP THE GOOD JOB!
Travel town it so fuun
Super cute place to come with the little ones.. and at no charge. What a wonderful display for the little ones to play in provided by the city. I believe you can even host a bday party here.. will definitely consider it. They just need additional clean ups here cause the trash cans were full.. but will be back 100%
What a great free place to visit and walk around. The trains are up close and personal! Donations welcome, clean restrooms and positive experience!
Perfect place for kids to enjoy (adults as well). My kids enjoyed exploring all the trains and locomotives and not to mention the train ride they loved it. On the day of my visit there were a few families having birthday parties I guess its a great place for a train theme party. My one and only complain is with the vending machine they have on site. Be careful make sure you put exact amount when using the machine for it wont give you change back. My mom put in $5 to buy a bottle water for $1.75 and didnt get her change back we tried pressing for another bottle and nothing. We told an employee at facility and all she told us was to call the # on the machine. They could at least put up a sign so their visitors can be aware that the machine will be keeping the change!
Warning: may cause explosive tears from your 5 year old when leaving after 2 hours, when he realises he may never return. Its just that good. About 15 locomotives and carriages, 2 big beautiful sheds, a full miniature ride-on train line, casual food, gift shop, heaps of picnic tables, and you can even go into the cab and carriage of one of the trains. It blew my sons mind. I think his fellow fanatics will love it too. No entrance cost, and only $2.75 per miniature train ride.
Reminds me of Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends
Sorry have not been there
Interesting place to stop. Definitely had some cool trains and cars and Etc. The bathrooms are pretty crummy though, definitely need to be cleaned up.The staff for kind and have a smile, which is surprising considering the job itself seems like it kind of sucks.the state of some of the exhibits is a little crappy. I wish some of the exhibits especially the wooden ones could be treated with a little bit more respect considering theyre going to degrade a lot faster then the steel and metal ones.
I enjoyed going here, the only downsides were that most of their locomotives are in disrepair and falling apart. Other than that I would recommend going here!
This place should be lauded by more people. It should be packed out every weekend with lines waiting to get in. But despite the fact that its educational and free and really really cool, it remains mostly underutilized. Which is a bonus for those of us who do get here.
Great train ride the kids always have a blast!
What a fun little place with just a hint of history. Worth the visit and the short train ride.
We had our engagement photos here, they were amazing. We love Travel town!
Perfect outing for a toddler who loves trains. We did the ride and then walked around looking at all of the trains. I wish we could have gone down the street to see the steamer trains but that we were told was only open on the weekends. This was cheaper than the zoo and we didn’t feel bad when we had to leave after an hour.
Relaxing, amazing history! Great family experience!
My children love this place. They love looking at the historic trains and the museum. The staff is always friendly. The small train ride its very nice because it gives you two rides around the park. Also entry to the museum is free so please enjoy it and what Griffth Park has to offer.
My 2 year old is really into trains, so this was a great place to take him. There were multiple decommissioned steam trains on tracks and also some sample train cars. He got to connect all of trains that he has seen in books, videos, and toys to the real things.
Absolutely gorgeous and astounding! If your child loves watching train videos on YouTube, then he or she will idolize this place! Theres also an engineering area within the museum to showcase a large set of mechanical trains. Prices for the train rides around the museum was $2.75 a person, free for kids under 18 months, $2.25 for elders and all within a group above 20 count.
Great outing...bring a lunch...and DONT go on a HOT day! These old antique trains are great to explore and see.
Parking and enterance are free. There are paths or areas to move your strollers, but your little ones will run all over the train tracks and you will have a hard time getting to them. Best not to bring your strollers.Great place to bring your little ones for an hour or 2. They have a mini train ride that makes 2 laps around the museum grounds. Train ride tickets are $2.75 and 18 months and younger ride free.
Still a very nice and super chill place to bring the kids out so they can check out a piece of history.
People who work there should be more welcoming but other then that it’s a great place to experience and great for kids and honestly anyone !
Free to visit, it took us about an 1 hour to explore and my 2 year old nephew enjoyed himself. Check online for special events and how to become a volunteer.
A fun place to go, especially if your child likes trains
Good family friendly spot with special events
Choo choo
Nice place for kids and rail history. Cars need some TLC. Please consider a donation or purchase.
Wonderful place to see the history of trains and other transportation that we had in Los Angeles.
I just walk the park and love it very well maintained and preserved, big number of trains old cars firetrucks.
My kids love it!!!
Charming place to see a variety of trains that no longer are put to work. Bring a picnic. Also a great place for birthday parties for train enthusiasts. Parking can be challenging as it tends to fill up. Wear running shoes or comfortable shoes to walk around.
Very nice but no wifi
“Youre waiting for a train. A train that will take you far away. You know where you hope this train will take you, but you cant know for sure.Yet it doesnt matter . . .Because youll always be together.”
My family and I had a wonderful time at Travel Town Museum. It was clean, plenty of green space to relax, walkways flat enough to push a stroller, and the trains were impressive, so huge close up. I am writing this review because of a experience I had at the gift shop. I collect snow globes and thought this would be a good reminder of our wonderful visit. I purchased a snow globe and was showing it to my grand daughter. She dropped it on the cement and it chipped and cracked. I took it into the gift shop and they allowed me to exchange it for a new snow globe. I was so impressed. I would recommend this destination for a wonderful experience!
Went on the Travel Days Celebration and had a great time
Good place to spend a couple hours with kids, especially if they like trains. They have a good number of train engines through the ages and elaborate model train set. A good place to go offline from the over stimulating environment, for kids to experience the physical world and appreciate the engineering progress.Theres no admission and open every day except on Christmas day. But they close early, 4pm on weekdays and 6pm on weekends
Great place for the kids.
Its a great place to bring kids & adults. Lot of historical significance trains. I been bring my kids & my grandchildren. You got to go.
I love this place. This is where I learned how to walk. Took my first steps at this location.
Looking to learn more about the history of trains for kids? This places is a good choice for you, the parking and entrace park is free.
I was obsessed with this place when I was little. A fun outing for families and/or train enthusiasts.
Fun train museum tucked in the hills of Griffith Park.
Great place to bring the family!Located on the North-side of Griffith Park, the Travel-Town Museum gives everyone a up-close, hands-on look at locomotives and train cars. There are different models from the years. They have a couple passenger cars available for rent for Birthday Parties and other occasions. There is a small passenger locomotive that rides around the park for a small cost. Fun for the kids!Admission to the Museum is free.
Really nice place to take a look at trains..
Im not sure why, but many of the most interesting buildings (& their displays) were closed the last time I went there with an out of town visitor. He still liked seeing the locomotives, weathered & old, as they are.The small gift shop seems geared mostly for buying stuff for kids. A friends son dropped his new toy off the walk-over bridge, into the shrubs below. His dad crawled in to retrieve it and ended up dirty but having found 5 other such toys down there. The kids dont realize how much mom & dad just paid for that toy at the gift shop! All-in-all, a fun, free stop.
Its free! Except the mini train ride which is two long laps for 2.75 which seems a good value. Keep a close eye on active kids cuz you can walk right up to the trains (can only go into some) and there are rail tracks to trip over.
My son loved the train ride! Parties can also be held here!! Perfect for the kiddos.
Nice park for little ones, enjoyed looking at the trains and photos and interesting facts. The mini train ride was nice because you did two trips around the park and it was only $2 to ride.
This place is very nice and the train ride was very fun for the kids. However, most of the train cars were chained off. There used to be a lot more open for the kids to explore bit now theres only three. Very disappointed.
Great place to let kids explore and enjoy quality time.
Took my 2 year old grandchild to ride the mini train. There were many trains to see. Not very hands on. Many trains and cars were in disrepair. Its a hands off. Place. Not what I expected at all. I appreciated the old engines but there wasnt 1 single blue train in the bunch. I liked it but My grandchild was bored.
The train equipment need some love the trains and cars were not well taken care of. Travel town is a nice place the grounds are well taken care of the hours are kind of crazy they close as early as 4 on weekdays to me a park like that should be open until an hour before sunset
Great free train and transportation museum inside Griffith Park. You can walk on some of the trains, rent them for events. You can stroll through and see lots of old trains, wagons, vehicles and its very Interactive
