Great little community theatre...historical and still ticking. Has specials on certain days on entrance fees. A community mainstay. Shows and times vary, new and popular movies. Small venue but it works...very family friendly and snacks...popcorn..and all great treats are available. Seating is first come first serve...gets crowded sometimes...but the ambiance works. If you like a community feel to watching movies...try this place. Not for the quiet at heart...workers are friendly. Catch a movie before or after shopping with Fig Corridor...restaurants and clothing. Vintage Theatre...support. Parking is a challenge but it is available on side streets.
The Highland Theater is the closest thing to a time machine well get in LA. No other theater quite captures the sights and smells of a night spent at the movies as a kid in the 90s like this place. What makes this even better as an adult is having that nostalgic feeling and then being able to hit up one of the many bars in the area before or after the movie.Treat yourself to a sketchy hotdog or nachos loaded with questionable cheese. Order popcorn and add all the liquid butter and flavors your heart desires. Want cheese popcorn? Theres a shaker for that. Want caramel flavor? Theres a shaker for that. Is it good for you, probably not but it tastes good and thats all that matters.Like everyone else said, if you want a fancy theater, this isnt the place for you. However, the prices are unbeatable and the staff is friendly. Give it a shot with an open mind and I think it will quickly become a staple that holds a special place in your heart.
I love going to this Theater. The auditoriums are ALL GREAT & every seat is a GOOD SEAT. Most of all YOU CANT BEAT THE PRICES!!! I highly recommended this Theater
Very nice venue! Havent been on that side of town in over 30 years! Looks very art decor and the neighborhood is very charming!
Clean, tastefully modern, ample personal space, especially for the long-legged movie-going giraffes like me. Great assortment of refreshments. I have a very short list of theaters that are around nowadays which provide a decent, movie-going experience without feeling like Im sitting in current-day coach class on domestic flights, and Highland Theatres is on that list.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE THEATER ️ ..I BROUGHT MY KIDS THERE WHEN THEY WHERE LITTLE. NOW I TAKE MY GRANDBABIES . ITS HAS GREAT PRICES ESPECIALLY WHEN YOUR A SINGLE MOTHER RASING KIDS .ITS ONE OF HIGHLAND PARKS HISTORICAL SPOTS..MORE PEOPLE SHOULD SUPPORT IT..
Great place to enjoy a movie. Great price for a large family. Restrooms are small but CLEAN. I was impressed the first time so I just continue coming
Awesome place! Had my first date there! I love this place!
Fair prices.Good popcornBut carpet and upholstery smells.
I love this place because you can watch movies but popcorn and drinks also nachos, candy, ice cream, and more
Came here for a friends movie screening. Very posh movie theater. Nice wide seats and wide aisles. Service is top notch.
Love this places...its.seen upgraded alot liI
It was really nice and I also like the movies they have. Plus they need more variety of snacks choose from.
My boyfriend loooooves this place. He is super excited about going back. The movie theater has all recliner chairs for regular admission. The bar serves great drinks (little pricey). The temperature is perfect and the theater is clean. The sound quality is also top notch. Cant believe all the perks that come with regular admission
Very reasonable priced tickets, before 6PM only $7, evenings are $10 and I believe 1 day during the week they have a low price all day and night. The only downside is typically they only have 3 movies to choose from, picture and sound are good, seats old but still comfortable but not reclining, no advance seating selection available here but if you go to a matinee its normally pretty quiet and most seating is available anyways.
Great theater with affordable prices and friendly staff.
Great classic theater, its just I give it four cuz your feet stick to the floor ;))
Movie theatre in the heart of Highland Park, near restaurants shopping and entertainment. They play first run movies, and have pre-releases (midnight shows) periodically. Check their website. They run 3 movies at a time. The theaters are small, so you need to arrive early if you really want to see your movie because they sell out. It is clean and seats are comfortable, but it is not stadium seating. The best time to see a movie here is Tuesday and Wednesday as all shows are $7. If you sign up for their newsletter, they will give you a coupon for a free small popcorn. There is a small parking lot here, but usually full. There is plenty of street parking in the area, so be prepared to walk a bit if you cant find something in the lot or on the street on the side of the theatre.I do not visit this theatre often. If I do not feel like traveling to other theaters in Hollywood or Pasadena, will wait for the bargain day to see it here.
A decent place to see a movie in the neighborhood. Only a few things are showing at any given time, so check ahead.
Use to go here with All my children and sister in law and niece. But the big boys are grown up just the young-ins and the hubby
Great prices, but the theater layout is a bit flat, and the seat backs are high so not ideal for little ones. But tickets are so cheap, kinda worth telling the kiddos to sit on their knees.
Affordable top rate movies. 6 $ matinees
Clean theater. Good sound. Pricey food.
Friendly staff. The place is cool. Old school movie theater def had a lot of character. Movies are cheap. Just have to remember to get to theater a lil early cause the seats are first come first serve. Get the points card they offer.
This place heavily improved over the years their popcorn tastes way better than it did way back.
Small intimate good place to watch a quick move if youre walking by.
This whole entire area has changed so much its now safe
Love that this is one of the original places and prices in the vicinity, considering most of highalnd park is now hip.
It was a very good theater had a great time watching The Joker today
Its a nice old school movie theater, to go with your wife, whole family, a good friend, or by yourself for that matter.
Nice place to see a first run movie at a great price. We will for sure come back.
Love this place old school movie theatre. Not very clean but clean enough to take your kids there. Prices are good and they have awesome discount days. Popcorn are great. Definitely check it out
My friend Jack loves this theater. He once wrote a movie about a boy called Jerry who starts turning into a badger and loses everything. He poured his heart and soul into that script and I dont think it will ever get made
Really small theater. Vintage feel. No frills. Cheap tickets and loyalty program is nice
I live nearby so its convenient
Fabulously old school and their popcorn is fresh
The weekdays special are great. The staff is the most unfriendly I have ever experienced. They never smile and seem to be tired, depressed or on drugs. This is a true observation.
It was great good service love the show I definitely coming back
Good ..but dont buy very expensive ..1 bottle of water cost...5 dollars..
Great theater great price... Friendly employees and great service. First ever visit and I will be returning
Everything was tiny. Restroom was small theater was really small. seats could have been a little bit more comfortable.
Great theater perfect sound and freshly made popcorn staff is friendly
I love our neighborhood theater. First run movies and never too crowded. I saw Start Wars and Black Panther there on opening night. A lot of nearby food and interesting shops. Parkings not bad either.
I love this movie theatres . nice workersGood price clean i just love it
Best thing in Highland Park. Probably one of the last affordable vintage theaters in Los Angeles. Please support it by buying tickets and concessions when you go!
Best for your buck. Fresh popcorn at a good price.
Been going to this theatre since I was a k I d. I enjoy their popcorn and the beef hotdogs there. Very friendly place. DISCOUNT DAYS.TUES AND WED.GREAT PLACE TO BOND WITH YOUR LITTLE ONES. OVERALL AFTER ALL THIS PLACE IS HISTORICALAND WITH GREAT PRICES. ENJOY THE EXPERIENCE, ITS AN OLD PLACE BUT STILL A PLACE WHERE A PIECE OF MY HEART IS
When I was 14 I saw Jurassic Park part 1 with family after the movie my mom took us to McDonalds she upgrading me that day from Happy meal to big Mac
Evething was good from buying tickets till the ending of the movie.
Still continues to be one of the best places to go to watch a movie. HLP LOVE
Delicious caramel popcorn. Clean and good cinema. Only complaint is I wish they had more movies.
Wish they had larger movie selection. Can beat $6 Tuesday and Wednesday. Very old movie theater ... therefore old theater seats and down slanting narrow theaters. Really enjoyed seeing Coco here. Don’t miss the popcorn.
Prices that are hard to beat. Theatre is a little dirty and some of the seats are missing arm rests, but cant really complain for how cheap the tickets are (although the prices have gone up)
I really feel like traveling in time to a more simple and innocent era every time I go there. A sweet nostalgia.
Affordable and they have the new releases, plus they offer a club card that can get you free stuff
Price is right. Always good movies
No frills place to watch movie for cheap.
Classic throwback for next gen classics!
I rather have The Big Screen Theater. Instead of Honey! I Shrunk The Highland Park Theater! I would pay to watch 3 Movies. Depending how much? Used to watch 3 Movies for .99€! Like to have the Old Theater w/The Big Screen! Even have the Upstairs Balcony Open & get it Packed it w/Family Day/Night! Back To The Future!
Great value;stuff very friendly
Fresh popcorn.Place is small but clean!
Hobbs & Shaw. Plenty of seating and affordable prices.
Clean, great prices, and they also have a frequent movie seer card, redeem free snacks, and movie for free admission. Awesome
I was in the mood to see a movie but didnt feel like the crazy price. Got in before 6pm on a sunday and paid only 7 dollars. The place was suprisingly quiet which was awesome. I read other reviews that said the place smelled, the only thing I could smell was perhaps cleaner. I wasnt sitting miserbaly holding my nose. The seats are fine. If you are high maintenance need luxury, you may not like it. But for the rest of us who can do without stadium seating this place is cool and lowkey. To see new movies at half the price is a score! Will definitely be back!!!
Nothing fancy, but a great place to catch first run pictures at a bargain price, although not a low as it used to be. Oh well, times change. Check out the bargain times and days.
Cozy place with good ticket prices, has 3 creek rooms
5stars this is a neighborhood theater . the prices on tuesday and wednesday is just right. love coming here .
Old school movie theatre and they play all the latest movies.I think they have the best popcorn compared to all the big house franchise theatre. However I can never go there because my girlfriend complains it smells like old dirty socks you find under your bed after months.I believe the theatre just needs to clean the drapes. They are probably the same drapes since it was a adult movie theatre many years ago.
Saw John WICK 3:Great sound, reasonable prices.Enough said!
Great place, great location, never dull. Large popcorn, large cherry coke, m&Ms and a great movie!
Enjoyed the movie with my grandson (to train your dragon)Best value overall.
Love this local gem
Ive been coming here for years since the time they had movie showings for Tuesday and Wednesday special of $3 bucks. My father loves the small theater where you now can still get to see a new movie for $5 on Tuesday and Wednesday special. You cant beat that fee with a stick even if you wanted too. Love coming in to see all the new movie features
Classic Building with a Clean Atmosphere! A small selection of movies but 95% they play New Releases ! And No High Prices and Wonderful Staff! Never a problem Always Smiles and Helpfulness ( 1x we got a refund bc right before the movie played., school called saying our daughter was sick) I will always keep bring my family back !
My favorite theatre! Old fashioned, way cleaner then before. Seats have armchairs that lift up to make more space or cuddle :) discounts for seniors, cheaper on Tues and Wed
Great neighborhood theater.
My teen daughters and me seen the movie It last nite. Best movie. Highland park Theatre the best place. I think its affordable. We went on a Tuesday it was $5.00 each. . Very reasonable. Thanks highland park Theatre.
The Highland Theatre is a landmark. Its been around forever, and its so fantastic having a small local theatre to go to, with such great prices. The new staff is friendly and helpful, but I do miss the old staff! Nostalgia and whatnot. One of the best spots in Highland Park!
Great screen and wide aisles.Decent ticket prices and food specials.
Cheap movie theatre. The tickets are about 7 dollars. Small and pretty cheap but what Id expect from a cheap theatre. Dont recommend going there if you want to watch a movie with amazing visuals, youd want to go to better place for that. But otherwise I think this place matches the price.
Great safe Neighborhood Theater with first run movies at the best prices in town. New management and new staff have given the place the much needed better seats and better sound and projection. If you like first run action packed movies the day they open for low low prices, this is the theater for you. The prices are even ridiculously lower on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Go!
Highland theatre is a classic theatre to watch movies, $6 Tuesdays, couldnt watch a better movie with that price. The inside was very clean and the seats are old just like a old theatre should be. Good stereo sound. They got my 5 s.
My grandson 7 had a date so papi and I sat a row behind. So cute as they shared big popcorn and drink!
Great prices but uncomfortable seats
Very cool old theater! Not fancy but well worth it for a movie. Clean enough!
You get what you pay for. That simple. This theater is NOT for the snobby, name-brand, too good for me people. Go pretend at Americana or Century City theatres. This place is quaint and has character, with history behind it. I went there as kid and now go with my kids. Popcorn is fresh and the staff is mostly great.
They have new seats with cushioning
I love going on Highland Park Theater but one thing why is it so expensive now but you do when you want to buy some popcorn for like 10 or $11 already you need to lower your prices so you can go more people coming in more movies updated to
Good deal always
I go there on Tuesdays for 3.00 on matinee! But I dont go alone it is more fun to go with someone.
Always a Great Experience
Been going to this theater for a long time..it might not be up to par for snobs..I use like it even when grouchy old men owned it.
Good affordable prices friendly workers. Not a top of the line theatre but your not paying the price for it. Top first run movies. Good deal.
Quiet little theater in a historic building. We took the kids on Christmas Day. Seats are fairly comfortable, bathrooms are small, but functional. If you join their making club before you go, print out the coupon they send you for free popcorn.
I love theyre nachos!!!!! Way better than higher movie theaters that overcharge for their small buckets of cheese. Friendly people that work there always there when I need alone time
I like the customer service I would definitely recommend them
Been coming here since I was a little kid and have always enjoyed myself. This theater is getting more popular by coming out in some movies and t.v. shows. Its in a great community and environment. Recommend it to anyone since its good pricing!
The theater has a lot of leg room and the place is clean
