Its not a megaplex but, i feel like thats a good thing. Encourages then to provide better customer service and better pricing. It could use a facelift but, I doesnt really seem necessary. Good snacks, good audio, good picture, 90s seats. No complaints here!
Small theater. Could use a facelift. The staff was very friendly and generous. The person who helped us at the concessions went out of their way to make sure we were attended to satisfaction. There is plenty of parking available. I would definitely go back.
Love this theater. Been around for years, and has a mostly older crowd that patronizes it. Shows more serious, quality films (vs. blockbusters...). The seats are fine, tho they are not the newer reclining type. Still, comfortable enough. Not usually very crowded, either, so no long lines for tickets or concessions. In terms of the films they play (a lot of Oscar bait), its probably my favorite theater.
The UA Marketplace is one of my favorite places to see movies, period. It is low-key and comfortable. The UA plays the hard-to-find movies that you wont necessarily find at the huge multi-plexes in town. Friendly staff and easy parking add to the experience.
This is a pretty good theatre. I’ve been going here for over 30+ years! They show a lot of Indie films, which I enjoy. Older seating but it’s never too crowded so I’ve always gotten a good seat. Close to the marina for a nice drive after a movie.
Only thing I would wish for is new seats. They backs are hard as a rock, and my back hurt halfway through a 2-hour movie. Theyre old-school flip-down seats and are also very cramped. Some comfort would be appreciated.
Good place to catch an Indie movie. They run various indie movies at this theatre. Not many places in Southern California any more. Worth a visit. Theatre is clean and orderly. Staff is courteous.
It is a good theater but I didnt like the hot dog, the bun was too hard
Took my young son to see his first movie, but the sounds were just too loud for him. The staff was very accommodating, turning the sound down as much as they could. And even provided headsets for him. But it was just too much and we had to leave early. The staff gave us a refund in the end. Although it didnt work out, the service was excellent!
We enjoy going to this Regal theater, my husband & I like it, for us, its easy to get in and out of the parking lots and we see all the latest movies there. Only thing is that we do miss reclining seats that other theaters have but one thing for sure we can always count on seeing the latest movies there and independent movies that we like and best popcorn in town
A trip back in time. This theatre hasnt been updated since the nineties, from the sign to the seating to the pre-movie PSA clips. They should embrace the kitsch, put in some old arcade games and a claw machine. They should also drop the ticket price to about $8/$10, I cant see going back there at $11/$13 unless it was a movie I really wanted to see that wasnt showing anywhere else nearby.Of course, the whole reason I was there was because they do show better movies, and the one we just saw wasnt showing anywhere closer, so maybe Ive got the market wrong.
All the staff members are so nice. The theatre runs popular and independent style movies. It has easy parking and is our first choice location to see a movie. And we never forget to use our regal card. Sometimes we get a free popcorn or movie after we have built up points.
Quaint little theater that gives more of a nostalgic feel compared to larger theaters.
Great little theater. Saw Parasite. Awesome
Great old theater w great customer service and ambiance.
Saw the Downton Abbey movie there a few days ago and it was great. Everyone clapped at the end of a movie. Loved the theater and got a senior discount too.
I love how this theater will show the latest Foreign or Art film. So l am thinking of joining the unlimited movies that Regal has but am waiting before l commit to one year. But the price is right, but AMC is a little more but only allows 3 a week but lMAX is also included. It includes a 3 month commitment, so a little less binding.
Its a decent theater to watch movies.
This theatre has a friendly staff and a great all around vibe. While the theatre is older, it is still an enjoyable experience.
Its convenient with lots of parking. Only theater in the area where you can find recent indie and art films. Retro ambiance and friendly staff. Lots of restaurants close by. Perfect if you dont need recliners.
LOVE going to movies in SAME city WE live in
Good movie. No big lines. Theater was cold. Good parking. I like this theater.
Nice movie theater
Love this theater. Never crowded
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is playing here. It was a great movie. This theater has many films that are not shown in other local theaters.
A very nice young woman who works at the UA in the market Place in Long Beach helped me add the UA app to my phone today and I just want to say thank you to Nimani!
This film house presents amazing films. The staff is the best with cordial service.
Very dated. Overpriced for experience. Old fixed seats, that dont recline but an inch, and yet charge the same as modern full-reclining seat theaters. But theater does show indie films, and thats the draw.
I love it for the great variety of Indy & occasional foreign films they show: thank you, Thank You! I live 200 miles from here now but try to see 1 or 2 films anytime I visit town.
Although the theater is older, its well maintained and quality movies are shown here.
Quiet little theater with no frills. I love because it attracks a more mature crowd (50+) who are quiet and respectful during the movie.
Never crowded. Friendly staff. Needs updating, especially those sad seats
Great movie place. Great employees. Plenty of parking. Quite. Not full of people
Very nice venue for a movie. We went to matinee and it was not crowded. They have ample free parking and staff are friendly.
Love this theater. No frills, no nonsense. Pay your entry, quick concession line, then two, or a paces and youre in your seat. No rowdy, disruptive individuals, always a mature and film-loving crowd. The film selections are always excellent. Get in, watch a film youll love, get out happy. Our go-to filmhouse.
Best arts house. Keep em in business.
Nice place to see a movie, old style
There was only a few people in the theater for the matinee. The seats are very comfy.
Great movie selection but bathrooms could be better situated.
Good place to see Independent movies. Good customer service.
This is an old movie theater you will have to sit up in your seat. The parking is just outside the theater, you will have to walk 50 feet from your car to the movie theater. But this is that place to see those low budget, maybe sometimes foreign movies. All the oscar nominated film will be shown here though. I always keep that in mind.
Older but comfy.
Best movies & theatre in Long Beach. Kind folks working there.
We ️ UA art house Long Beach! We come here around once a week. Its old school and theres no reserved seating but who cares. The staff is nice, theres always parking and you can earn points for free small popcorn if you get a regal rewards card. Thank you for bringing independent film to Long Beach!
Excellent movie jo jo rabbit
Every staff member was friendly and ended the encounter saying enjoy the movie. The theater looks nice. Remodeled seats.
Do you have discount days similar to AMC in Marina Pacificas $5 Tuesdaysand 4 Stars $5 Tues, Thurs. and Sundays?
Love this theater. I live nearby and Im ecstatic that they have gone to an art house--the movie selection is superb and the turnover of films is quick, so there are always a lot of choices.Im giving an UPDATE 5/25/19 I HOPE REGAL CINEMAS READ: PLEASE DO NOT SHOW ART FILMS WITH THE LIGHTS ON. I wrote this in my initial comment a few months ago, and just came back from seeing Non-Fiction, which was shown with the lights on. I ducked out of the first five minutes to tell the manager and he said it was a safety law. What?! Does that mean every other theater in Southern California is violating safety laws by showing films properly with the lights off. After one hour, the lights went out mysteriously and the rest of the film was shown as normal. This is the third time Ive seen an art film, of all things, with the lights on, ruining all contrast and making it look like my living room. I applaud the art house approach and want the theater to thrive because art films are necessary in the area, but please do not make the viewing a bad experience. Work on this. No movies should be seen with the house lights on. The rest of my comment below is still valid. The people who work at the box office are very polite--Im not sure if I should be thankful or insulted by getting a senior discount at times because of my gray hair. (Im joking--very grateful). Seats could use and upgrade but please, please do NOT go to lounge chairs. I want to see great independent and foreign films in a theater not in a big living room. Im not giving five stars because twice in the past two months, Ive watched a film (most recently Everybody Knows) with the light on. On the recent occasion, I went to tell someone but no one was around (understandably at at 10:30 p.m.) and ended up missing an important plot point. Not happy. Otherwise, thank you for bringing a wide array of art films to LB. I go here 3-4 times a month.
Offered help to my disability seat, so helpful they are.
Great place, but like any other, the popcorn etc, it is too costly for what it is. We cut down our trips to the movies because of it.
Its always nice to go home again and this comfortable theater feels like youre in a nice comfy home .
Excellent, friendly, cozy, clean theater
I imagine this theater to be artsy, but not too artsy. Like we show movies that big chains dont really show but still a decent amount of people will still want to see. Place is clean, staff never gave a weird vibe. Seats are stiff and outdated, but where else you gonna go to watch your foreign film about a dead son being mourned. Man, that movie as long.
Where do you go when you want to see a movie for grownups and dont have a reservation? Try the Long Beach Regal. It is old fashioned, but if you want to see a kids movie, sit in a recliner, and drink booze, and fall asleep, then you can always stay home and watch it on Netflix.
Nice and clean theatre that occasionally has some artsy ward winning films that play nowhere else.
This theater shows movies that are often hard to find elsewhere. Easy parking is a plus. The seats arent very comfortable but thats a trade-off Im willing to make to see movies like Breath, The Rider, First Reformed that arent playing many other places in the area. And its in the Regal family so I can use my Regal card to get rewards!
This is an old, but nice theater. Not crowded at all and they play new movies and independent movies. Parking is also easy to find. If you dont like the big crowds, then give this theater a try. Its not stadium type seating, but because its not crowded, you should be able to get a good view.
This is the best Art House film selection in Long Beach CA. It is an old school experience. The hard old style chairs are comfortable but no where near as comfortable as the more updated theater cushioned chairs and/or recliners. The snack bar is friendly and has a good selection including Nates hotdogs on warm buns which are salty but delicious. The small ground floor gender neutral restrooms appear to be ADA compliant though I question if someone in a wheelchair could actually move about in the small space. Additional restrooms are on the 2nd level accessible by a steep staircase as theres often a line for the two, single theater adjacent facilities. Despite the lack of updates - the price of admission is on par with the tricked out theatres for the masses.
Good movies, great popcorn, but seriously needs an upgrade. Employees very nice.
Wonderful place. Clean and well maintained. Bathrooms as well are nicer than many Ive seen. Staff is helpful and welcoming. Popcorn and other concessions offered are always fresh, never stale. I have to disagree - the theatre is NOT outdated. If you prefer crowds and lots of undue noise levels then go elsewhere. You wont find that here. I wouldnt change a thing. If this location were remodeled, its unique charm would be lost. Love it here.
This is a totally stripped down theater with old seats, yet they charged me $10.05 for a matinee and their food and drink prices are higher than any place else. I remembered why I NEVER go there. I went because its a rainy say and its close to home. Ill drive the extra few miles from now on. If you have another choice, take it!!!
This theater is perfect for movies! The theater is not so big that the audience is huge. The audience tends to be older adults, since it is close to Leisure World. I like the smaller theaters.
Very friendly staff. The seats could do with some updating, but some good movies play here that you often cant find in the bigger and newer theaters.Edit:. New seats have been installed!
Always friendly staff
Nice customer service! one of only a few theaters that features fine arts films, that alone deserves my patronage.
My daughter and I both love attending movies here, because of easy parking and theater access. The theaters are the same as youd find in most malls, meaning a large main auditorium and smaller ones.....all comfortable. Movies are all first rate, that cater to a more cerebral and or somewhat more mature crowd. Most kiddie movies or those catering to the teen market wont be shown here (said most, not all).Staff have always been kind and helpful and the refresments / popcorn are always fresh. There are hearing assistance devices, that are easily exchangeable if not working properly. Staff are very helpful with this, as well assisting you to your auditorium, if needed, with your refreshments.
This theatre does get good movies, but, I do everything I can to not have to go there, even though they are the closest theatre to us. The fact that I cant reserve a seat, like in ALL of the surrounding theaters, is a big negative for me. I cannot believe that in all of the year that I have been patronizing this theatre, they have never done not even one thing in the area of an upgrade. I was so hoping that they were going to reopen a new & modernized, up-to-date UA in the area that is being redeveloped at the intersection of PCH & 2nd St. Sadly, I learned that this isnt so. I do not understand the persons comment that to modernize this theatre would lose its charm! What??? What about convenience & comfort?
I love this theater and it is my first choice when looking to see what is playing. I like the movies they choose and it typically isnt crowded. Popcorn is great as I make it my lunch for that day. I hope this theater stays just like it is for a long time.
Staff is always friendly and I LOVE the fact there is no assigned seating, which is why I stay away from the nearby AMC theater. This theater is always clean and the popcorn is excellent
Just didnt like how we had to buy tickets at the concession stand
The staff treats you kindly.
Great place to see hidden gems. See movies here that are in limited release. Ticket prices was under $9 and free parking in lot.
Im used to the leather lazy boys in Palm Springs. This location needs anchor update.
I had no idea this was a thing until i opened up my moviepass when in the area. since its indie films, smaller fare, most of the audience is composed of elderly people. the rooms are not stadium either. but the movies will usually be better than your standard theater.
The BEST theater in the area. Great (highly acclaimed) movies shown, great recliner seats (no stairs to climb) ample parking. Just the BEST!
Very friendly people and excellent movies. However the seats are getting old. 4.3 stars.
Polite and helpful staff.
Wonderful theater with very excellent movies.
Outstanding movies (artsy)but outdated, broken seats, but overall not bad enough to stay away.
OK for an old theater, but good if the movie you want to see is only there
Old fashioned cinema without seat reservations, bar or recliner seats. Great variety of independent and smaller films and documentaries
HOWEVER ...big changes are going to happen no doubt - with all surrounding theaters the way they are - and the new mall across the street (some day)check back a year or two from now ...the whole place could be fantastic.
I like it.... But very old. Some newer seats but most of them are worn out. Great pop corn and friendly staff.
No lines, clean and nice employees.
My friend and I went to see Agent 47 and after paying for our tickets, the attendant asked to look in side of my purse. I was carrying a very small cross-shoulder purse. I was very appalled by this action. I have heard of bag searches at movie theaters for movies that would generate a population that was suspect. But for this movie, I thought this was unacceptable. Thinking this must be the theaters policy for everyone with a bag, I stayed to watch and see if this was done to everyone. This was not the case, no there person was asked to open their bag. Not even the lady with a backpack. So, I asked the manager what was the theaters policy and she was not able to articulate a clear answer. After dealing with that, we go inside the theater and it was HOT. There was no air conditioner on in that theater. An overall disappointment. There is an AMC theater across the street that provides great service!!
This theater is the perfect place for our community, Ive been going to it for years and it has always been a nice experience, the staff, the manager, the area, all of it is a nice experience.
Decent little theater that shows a lot of independent films. Its a little old & rundown but the seats are clean, the video & audio quality are good.
Seats arent the best.
Nice employees but seats are not too comfortable.
The seats arent as comfortable as the ones in other, more modern theaters. But what this locale lacks in interior, United Artists makes up for in good-tasting popcorn!
A bit old school with the seating but a conveniently located lil theater with a nice selection of current movies.
Always a very rude crowd talking inside with no regard for other moviegoersThey truly need to update the seating is horribly uncomfortable
Its a small little theater, its not worth it to see a big blockbuster here but its worth seeing an Indie or some kind of drama. This place kind of specializes in Oscar bait in hard-to-find movies.
My husband and I love this theater. Never overly crowed always charming to us. Its a small town theater feel.
Good place to see well made movies that are for adults who want to see good acting instead of explosions.
I love this little theater! I am an avid movie-goer and this is my favorite theater, both for the films regularly shown and for the seating. Yesterday I had to visit the AMC in Marina Pacifica in Long Beach and it has totally been redone and Im no longer going there unless I must. The seating has been changed to reservation only . . . either on line or at the box office . . . and I woundup in a seat that suddenly turned into a recliner in the midst of my hot dog and cola consumption. I will never go back there unless the film is playing nowhere else.
Usually shows all the independent, artsy, and more thought provoking films with a smattering of blockbuster movie thrown in. Its not the most comfortable or modern movie theatre but it serves its purpose well. It would be nice to see some remodeling eventually but, for now, it is a great place to see a great film!
A nice theater. Plenty of parking. Located in quiet area of Marketplace.
