The whole experience is entertaining. Hands down my favorite haunted house and I’ve been to many. Love the music and the fact that you are being entertained while you wait. Bus ride through the wooded area was a great idea. The actors are great and they have a looot. You get your money’s worth here. You can purchase food and drinks at the end. There are picnic tables and fire pits set up in the back. I absolutely love this place!! 10 stars.

GO HERE!! To be fair, I have not braved the actual haunted house, but we rent the facility for our events. The location, facility, and staff are fantastic. You will not be disappointed!!

Scariness: Setup: Price: Notes: The scariest parts are when they jump out at you. There is a spooky trail leading up to the haunted house. There is an area for beer and photos before you get into the haunted trail and there are food trucks after. The story of the haunted house isnt consistent throughout but there is alot of really good design and thought put into everything. Definitely enjoyed the experience and I know you will too! When I went in 2018 I loved it I went with my older cousin and we had a blast the makeup was absolutely stunning and professional looking. I also loved that the actors entertaned people in line.What I kinda didnt like is that you were rushed through everything and I know some people normally like to get to look aroud at their surroundings and everything.

Amazing place. Great haunt staff and great scares! I had lost my phone on the bus transport to the house and staff was able to find it!! Extremely grateful. Line actors were awesome too. (Big tall guy with black top hat is a great singer and dancer. I give him props for making the line fun and spooky)

The staff made this such an enjoyable experience. Their makeup and special effects were very well done and they did a great job of staying in character. At first I dreaded seeing the long line, but that was quickly turned around with the actors in line. They made it fun being in line and the experience of the haunted house began right when you got off the bus. The haunted house and graveyard itself were very detailed and very well done. I would say that it took around 40 minutes to complete the haunted house, so the money is well worth it!

Wow you guys KILLED IT last season 2019. I attended with my Haunt troupe from West Michigan and was NOT DISAPPOINTED. Between the effects through the Swamp and the Graveyard leading up to the House. Those special effect ceiling rails one only expects at a Disney attraction. And those Dragons at the end. Jesus Lord we were in tears!

Not scary at all ripoff. Just another scam in Chicago to make. No place to park long walks to your car. Overall very disappointed. If youre looking not to be scared at all this is the place to take your children. Very rude staff. Cant use your cell phone in the haunted house. But it does have a little escape room that was probably the most enjoying thing there

Super fun Haunted House! Waiting in line felt like part of the experience with all the performers entertaining the crowd. The tour also lasted 30 minutes which was a decent amount of time with lots of super fun rooms to go through in the house. My girlfriend and I loved it, glad we went!

Liked the actors! The haunted house and even the bus ride on our way to the house was cool. The smoke was too much, burned my throat. Wish they wouldve had more lights on the trail so we could actually see and enjoy all the cool stuff they had out.

Me and some friends went to check this one out and had an absolute blast. The outdoor section is awesome and is a perfect example of jump scares that are done right and arent cheap.The sets were absolutely gorgeous and the attention to detail was phenomenal. As a haunter myself I was geeking out the entire time. While I didnt necessarily get scared, this place more than made up for it in sheer fun. The actors were witty and imaginative, and the level of interaction was awesome! Keep it up

This experience, from the bus ride to the gift shop, is absolutely amazing. The walk through the woods is my favorite part. It feels like you are part of a horror movie as you discover some amazing horror scenes on your way to the mansion. The lights (or lack of), props, set and, most importantly, the actors make this experience unforgettable. Then you get to the house. The opening scene is thrilling and haunting and each room is carefully curated and produced by some amazing people. Every little detail is perfected to make you feel like you are part of the experience and not just an outside viewer. Seriously, if you havent made your way to HellsGate yet - do it! You wont regret it.

The visuals and the actors were excellent. The place looks great! My only issue was I thought there could have been more scare spots. It wasn’t as scary as I thought it could have been...but the props, design, special effects, and actors were top notch.

Easily one of the best haunted houses weve been to! The staff goes above and beyond, in acting, in costume and make up, everything. Even the layout of the whole experience you can tell that its showing you a story. You can see everyones passion in this, and it makes for an amazing experience. Favorite character was easily Mother. Very spooky!

This is by far the best haunted house I’ve ever been to! I haven’t jumped or been scared since I was a kid, but last night was definitely a creepy and fun experience. The actors go above and beyond. They will interact with you and you can tell that they are excited to be working! I loved this place and I will be back!

Honestly? This place deserves all the hype. From the bus ride to the line to the haunted house was amazing. Fantastic actors, props, rooms, etc. Definitely reccomend, definitely going back. Keep up the good work

Only had to wait in line for 30 minutes. The actors while waiting in that line were entertaining and willing to take selfies with groups. Wish it wasnt raining so we could have enjoyed the outside experience 1st. All the actors were troopers in the cold rain and very accommodating. Thanks for a great time!

First time to HellsGate and it was beyond what we expected. Amazing actors and just great display. By far our most favorite Haunted House yet! We will definitely be coming back every year!

My first haunted house, and this was amazing. I could not believe how well done this was. Great acting, incredible artwork and attention to detail. This will make you feel like you are in an actual haunted house with zombies. Highly recommend experience!

This place was awesome! We really enjoyed the whole experience from being scared while waiting in line, to walking along the trail to the house and then finally the house.You will enjoy every minute.

They have great makeup quality, and scary personalitys! My favorite part was the guy with the chainsaw! But I am wondering if it was a real one because it seemed real. I also think my other favorite part was the part with the sisters!! Definitely worth the price and time!!!

Great attention to detail. They make you think the line is super long but wait it out don’t pay the extra 15$ for VIP tickets like we all did. Bus ride was cool addition the haunted trail was cool the house itself was very detailed but not scary mind screwing like we wanted. If your going in a group it’s a cool place to have fun.

I really enjoyed this place. There were a few things I didn’t enjoy about it though. For one, I hated the bus transport. You park in a parking lot and wait in line for a school bus that takes you to the entrance. I just felt that bus ride was entirely too long and I didn’t know where I was going. Second, I HATED trying to find the key. The woman said 321 go so fast and we didn’t even know where to go because she didn’t tell us. The key search was around the corner so our group wasted a good 5 of the 30 seconds rushing over to the search area after figuring out where it was. somebody from my group tried to climb across barrels to get to the other side and the lady yelled at this man and I mean YELLED. The other lady said to search high and low and that’s what we were doing. Omg they were extremely rude that it RUINED the rest of the haunted house for me. I didn’t even enjoy the remainder of it.

Great haunted house, one of my favorites in the area. Only giving a 3 stars due to the fact that they only have ONE person at the window selling tickets. So you stand in that line for over an hour, then you go stand in the line to get into the haunted house for over an hour. If you go buy online or just get there right when it opens to save yourself a lot of time.. other than that everything is awesome about this place.

This place is one of the greatest places you will ever visit. Very few haunts can compare to the quality of sets and actors. If you are looking to see an absolutely awesome haunt show, this is the place to see in the state of IL. Not sad I drove 13 hours to visit this haunt. I would highly recommend this as a MUST visit to everyone.

Fantastic haunt that is BEYOND worth the money, travel time, and wait. Paid extra for the Hellpass to screw with my brother and it was absolutely fantastic. Recommended to go to whenever you have any spooky plans during the month of October.

Ive been to basement of the dead, and when compared to HellsGate, I was PLEASANTLY surprised.. I thought highly of BotD, but this exceeded what I thought a haunted house to be. From the scare actors in line, to the outdoor section of the haunt, to the actual house. All actors were the best Ive ever seen, and the detail to the haunts were unmatched.Highly, HIGHLY recommend this place!

I am from Niles Scream Park, and attended HellsGate last night. It was their opening night so you sort of expect something to go wrong, yet if it did I sure did not see it, the sets were great, but the actors made the show. They were high energy though out the park. We were allowed a behind the scenes look which was impressive. Security is always a concern, yet were right on top of things. Had a great time, and would suggest this Haunt to anyone.

Loved this place. The bus ride to the place made it that much more interesting. Was actually building up my anxiety haha. The characters, loved them. My bf had a blast too. Definitely got scared

The only reason its 4 out of five is because of who where got grouped with. The folks in front wont move and the ones behind us wont shut up. All the actors did great jobs. The make up. I wasnt thrilled with having been put in lines multiple times inside in the house but the lore and the trail made up for it again. Will go back ill just bring my own group.

Great visuals! I highly recommend coming here before any other. Try the escape room at the end. I did it in two mins. Can you beat me?

It was a wonderful time. Bus ride over was fun. The walk through outside was even funner. The guy crawling around outside was amazing. Inside the twins were great. Well worth the trip. Must put on your bucket list. VIP ALL THE WAY. Worth the extra cash. The only thing I think they cpuld have inpoved on was they should have decorated the buses to go with the theme. It would have been fantastic. Great job guys !!

This place is literally the best haunted house I have personally been to. I have travelled 16hrs to visit this place and would do it a thousand times over just to visit this place again. The story telling, the bus ride, the woods, the cemetery, the HOUSE, everything is done super professionally and all fits together cohesively. Please visit this place if you get the chance.

I go to haunted houses so much that I have become desensitized to the scares. But Hellsgate....just wow....this is hands down THE BEST HAUNTED HOUSE that ever will be! Minimal wait, small group size, amazing costumes and sets, well timed and placed scares, and so much detail in each room its impossible to see it all on one time through!

Nice production and the makeup and costumes are one of the best. they put a lot of effort into the design and look of the haunted house definitely very affordable a must see if your in the area.

Bus ride through the woods on a dark and desolate road - than you hit the enchanted torch lit cemetery/scary as hell forest, and than ..... well you just have to see for yourself. The absolute best production I have seen, professional mind blowing costumes, hundreds of professional actors, the haunted house animatronics, rooms, and props are absolutely unreal !! Highly recommended to go - at least twice !!!The HellsGate Haunted House is a state of the art Haunted House, it is so incredible that all ages were entertained beyond their wild imagination. Hollywood themed park in the suburbs, all the way first class from the minute you get there, Highly recommended and very much appreciated - hats off to the creators and the staff- they really go way beyond the expected to give you the ultimate Helloween experience ! It was not scary whatsoever. Google reviews really hyped me up for a great experience, but i was very underwhelmed. The line was the best part of the experience. It is not worth the 32 dollars with tax. Pretty sad. Actors were nice not scary. Save your money!

Should do smaller groups and space them out more. The group behind us caught up to us every time we got separated, ruining any chance of getting a scare. The cemetery was closed which it would’ve been nice to discount ticket since we are not getting full haunt. I was really disappointed. There weren’t many actors, nor were they scary. Don’t waste your time. $45 dollars to walk through building. The bus ride was scarier to be honest.

Just left this haunted house. I dont know if some of these are fake reviews or what, but Im very disappointed in all of this. I actually went with a group of 5 age ranging from 42 yr. Old to 12 yr old and we were all disappointed. Very long wait in line, no entertainment in any lines like some reviews said, and people were just wearing mask or very poor makeup. And inside the woods and the house was so disappointing. I read all the reviews and couldnt wait and very upset. They rush you through the whole house, and its not a 45 minute house. The actors didnt preform at all. They just said boo to the first person and we heard it 20 people back. We always go to Dungeon of Doom, but I decided that we try something different, bad thinking. Wont be coming back at all.

Phenomenal! I havent been to a haunted house in years. The actors were legitimately scary and seemed to really enjoy their jobs.

They put on a great production. All of the characters are so fun and into their roll. They really try and make sure you enjoy your experience. Very well organized from parking all the way until you leave. I recommend getting there early or getting the VIP ticket to save a little time. It does get busy but thats to be expected.

Super fun haunted house! Loved the outside walk. Inside decor was amazing... Creepy doll room, the chairs stacked up to the ceiling, and a ton of props. Actors are fun and help bring the spooky to life. Try it, you wont be disappointed. VIP was greatly helpful in moving to the front of the line.

Such a fun haunted house experience. I especially enjoyed the doctors giving electroshock therapy and the swine room.

I havent been to a haunted house in 5ish years. It was pretty cool. The price is high but its an experience. You ride a bus, go through a small forest trail, then go thru a mansion. Its very professionally well done. I cant imagine the mansion is used for anything but the haunted house.

I call this The Most Beautiful Haunted House that Ive been to. Yes, it has great scares, but you can see that a lot of love and attention to detail was put into this one from the moment you walk through the forest, and then into the mansion. Im glad they continue to get better every year and I will continue to return!!!

This was the best experience I have ever had at a haunted house. We flew in from California to see this with my sister. I literally was blown away by every aspect of this place. From the entertainment in the line to the cashier at the end in the gift shop was amazing. I highly recommend doing this at least once!!!!

This haunted house would be the scarest around I mean they actually have a house but they need to drop the pretty girls out of the act and add some scary/creepy people and add clowns and have the actors chase you they have all the props just the wrong concept the line waiting to get into the actual haunted house was more creepy I hate to give a 3 star but I expect alot if you want some info contact me if love to give some input to the creator on how to amp up the show

Overall VERY FUN AND EXCITING EXPERIENCE!I suggest purchasing the VIP tickets for a little over 10 bucks more. We barley did any waiting and since it’s normally freezing cold during these hours it was our savior! The journey begins with an outdoor haunted trail in the woods that leads to the house. I was pretty spooked and I was amazed at how in character all of the actors were. I was chased by someone with a chainsaw, it was intense! When we got to the house entrance they showed an incorporated story in the first room. It was very creative! They also throw in a game towards the end of your journey through the house where you have an opportunity to find a hidden key and get your money back. Overall I’m impressed with the talent of the actors that work here and I’m astounded by how creative the entire experience is. 5 stars and two thumbs up!!

I traveled all the way from Orlando Florida to come this haunted house haunted houses in universal studios are cool but this was a place that made everything feel real and if you are looking for a great haunted house definitely recommend coming to this one or statesville they were both great omg this is the first time I was scared in a long time love it so cool

One of the best experiences any haunted house has to offer, all the way from the detail, to acting, and the amazing fx. There is just so much going on,I have been going to Statesville/hells gate for years nows and it just keeps getting better and better, I really have to thank the owner John for being a big inspiration of mine,as I built my own haunt this year thanks again John!

Free parking at the Lockport train station with a shuttle school bus to the haunted house. Expect 20 mins for will call window and an hour 30 for the event line. VIP upgrade for $12 each ticket, putting you in a different line to the right for instant access. If you don’t mind waiting and watching the people in line getting messed with by the event staff, waiting in line really wasn’t too bad. The staff were definitely not as scary visually as Statesville, which was more gorey and killer looking. Statesville was similar to this one as they had 2 different areas, one was an outside path to follow around and the second was an inside haunted mansion.There is also a room full of crates in which they instruct you to search to find the key that will give you your admission fee back. There are small holes on the top of some crates and you have to stick your hand in to feel for the key. You only have 30 seconds to look for it, and not many have accomplished this it seems judging by the “hall of fame” they have on the wall as you exit the gift shop.Over all, not a bad experience. Similar to Statesville, which was also made by the same people. Scare factor: depends on your group and if you’re in the front. Lol. Good luck.

CLAP CLAP CLAP!!!! HELLS GATE RULES! I have spent the last 10 years of my life going to haunts every Oct around the U. S (more specifically the Midwest & North/South East) and I thought nothing could top Haunted Overload in N. H... But Hells Gate.... Well done, youve made it to the top of my list. The actors are top notch and the sets are bad @$$. To the people with the bad reviews about wait time/large groups, I would recommend going on a Thurs night at start time. We waited maybe 15 min (With line entertainment) and our group of 4 went through the entire trail /house without running into other groups. P. S the creature with the drooly sharp teeth and long fingers was hands down the best character Ive ever come into contact with.

Really stands out against other haunted houses, great story, amazing effects and actors. It has a very gothic, historic horror feel. The same team set up the haunted prison nearby I think, if you prefer a more slasher crime horror vibe. The website has a detailed backstory to the house that I reccomend reading before going to appreciate the references. If its during spooky season, go to the local metro station for bus shuttles instead of going to the address here. If you have sensitivities to loud noises wear some hearing protection. Wear closed toed shoes and something you can go down a slide in.I had some moments in the adventure where I was legitimately blown away and amazed. Great job, guys!

Amazing Haunt! The sets were incredible and so were the actors. I love the concept of the forest and the mansion, super cool. I don’t scare easily but even if you aren’t terrified in the haunt you’ll have a lot of fun! The only negative thing about my experience tonight was the fact that it felt a bit rushed, other than that it was a really great, unique experience
