It is a summer picnic park with lake, beach area and hiking trails. Plenty of parking, benches and grills. I went to park in late fall so it was empty and beach area was closed. Due to drought situation lake was receded and hills were covered with dry shrubs. There are some mountain tops on a way to park to view sunset.

Though San Francisco has more than its fair share of cloudy and rainy days every year, Livermore’s weather is generally sunnier and more conducive to outdoor activities like hiking, bicycling, and watersports.Del Valley Regional Park is just a 20-minute drive from the city center. It is an excellent option for activity minded nature lovers interested in enjoying the great outdoors without traveling to the larger state and national parks in the region. For those who’d prefer to spend a night or two under the stars, the park features more than 100 individual campsites, many of which have water and electrical hookups.

Just discovered this park today as a way to escape SF lockdown for a few hours with my dog. It is sooo beautiful, not crowded (the parking lot is not too big tho, we got the last spot), with great trail options for hiking, trail running, biking. Hills so plenty of elevation gain and loss Dogs are allowed off leash under a good voice command! We did run into a rattle snake, so watch out!

Beautiful 360 views are to be had all over this park. There is a great main trail that you can hike along the full length of the lake and numerous side trails that either go along the shoreline or out into the lands around the parks. Make sure to keep the gates as you find them to ensure that the cows stay where they belong.

Its a good place for picnic, hick, or kayak, definitely not a fun place to swim as it has a small marked area that gets packed at noon, they even dont let you to swim to the half of the designated area, they yell at you to get back, its very restricted. Arrive there before 8am if you would like to get a good spot near the swimming area. Its good to go for a first time, but I will not go the second time.

I wanted to challenge myself to a good workout, I was not disappointed it was exactly what I expected, it took us about six hours coming back it was easier, we chose to hike on February, beautiful day, it was a little bit cold, it was just perfect weather, I highly recommend, even though the waterfall was dry, but be very careful I nearly got killed by all the Rocks falling, make sure you are alert at all times thank God I was looking up when I saw all the Rocks coming down, my dog and I we run like hell, so thankful we made it out unharmed.

Love this state park! So quiet and serene and you feel like you’re alone with nature. Great hiking also! Not many people know about it yet which is so nice that it’s not as crowded as many other state parks. Watch out for mosquitos near the water if you go toward sunset!

Cabin camping is awesome!!! Inside there is beds that are comfortable & there are no chairs...the worst is ck in is @ 3 p.m. it should be 1 or 2 pm as ck out is firm @ 11 am. Also, it cost nightly $100, but the rate should drop during the cold months to $50-$60 nightly as cabins were unoccupied mostly. The district should take this recommendation highly.

Get ready to visit this place with all accessories so that enjoying the sun and the river would be soulful .

Del Valle area is the best place to go to if you are into natural beauty. You will find all elements of nature displayed there for you to enjoy. Lake, hills, mountains, meadows, and warm Sun. If you are into photography, this is heaven for you. The views there is it of this world. Even with the cheapest phone. It looks amazing. You can take pictures from the top of hills, or from down below. They look awesome. You can also swim in the lake or rent a boat. Entrance fee is 6 dollars. Unfortunately, you will have to pay again on re-entry. Movie like views, that I cant be fair describing them no matter what I say. The campground is wonderful. However, you have to reserve it months in advance, especially in summer time. Last time visited we had to stay in a hotel in Livermore in july, since camping was reserved till mid September. They also have few cabins inside the campground. The area is great for hiking, biking, swimming, boating, fishing, jogging, fishing, and off course camping. Even just driving your car in the nicely paved roads among and on hills is a nice activity while enjoying scenery there. No phone signal on the campground though, you will need to find about ten minutes to get a signal. There is also a small convienient stores in the campground and lake. A bit hot in summer months. Nice trails though.

Parking pads a little narrow and not level. But nice big areas between sites. Limited number of FHUs. 50 amp. No cell phone service. Incoming gate locked at 10p.m. very quiet and dark. Tends to fill up on the weekends even in December so make reservations if you want hook ups. Flush toilets and hot showers but shower rooms not heated so chilly until youve been in the shower for awhile. Only about a 10 minute drive to town. Would stay again.

Worst camping trip ever. Employees wouldn’t let me drop my 27 foot camping trailer before getting my two kayaks inspected. Can’t drop tail gate to get kayaks out of truck with the trailer hooked up and two kids bikes and three chairs on top .The rangers kept telling me I had a time limit but wouldn’t tell me what time limit was . I just wanted to drop the trailer not even set up. They did offer to help unload but with his belt buckle and hanging key chain I asked him to step away from my truck and give me a refund. Can’t believe they charge 14 just to launch two kayaks in half of a lake . Campgrounds were nice and well maintained only reason for the two stars. Did have some crack head break out his own back window of his rv fighting with his girlfriend. At least they kept the fight in there rv.

This is one of Livermore’s hidden secret. People don’t talk about it that often and it’s not on many official lists unless you go looking for it. The place however deserves lot more attention. I have been here in the Feb when there was practically no lake and we literally walked all over the basin. These pictures are from August when I can hardly recognize it’s the same place!! 20 mins drive from Livermore downtown, definitely recommend a visit in the evening with family!!
