Very clean and close to everything
Unique experience. I was the sole person in the dorm. COVID-19 may have influenced that. The dorm was clean and functional with the exception of used razors in the shower. The temperature was comfortable. The shower took a while to achieve temperature, but hot water was available. Sound carries. You can hear someone downstairs break wind. I didn’t access common quarters other than dorm and restroom. I can’t offer any input on those facilities. MacArthur Park seems to host it’s fair share of vagrants. Most people are otherwise fishing, exercising, reading or accessing the dog park.
Awesome service and very safe and clean
This is a great place and clean. You can see the nature also. There are ducks around the lake. It is not loud even though it is right in the middle of the city. Friendly, safe, well-managed. Safe, clean, good for solo travelers like myself, with an interesting mix of travelers. Little Rock is a bit quiet, and this was my experience of the hostel as well. There was lots of tourist info at the hostel, but there is also a pretty extensive visitor center thats quite close. Staff is great: attentive, professional, always available to help when needed. Kitchen only has a 2-burner electric counter rangetop-type thing, but I was able to prepare my meals without issue as I happened to be one of the only people who wanted to use the kitchen, mostly. Overall a great experience, and a solid example of the type of hostel I have come to expect from the HI network. Am planning on returning to explore more of the state and national parks in AR.
This place is Amazing. Very centrally located on the bus line. Surrounded by beautiful McArthur Park. Location is close to downtown and South Main and historic Soho district. HI Little Rock Firehouse Hostel is an Amazing place to stay. The volunteer Eric is a very genuine person that is always ready to help in you in any way to make your stay pleasant and comfortable. Hes an Awesome person. I love it here.
Service was friendly, value wise this is the best bang for your buck. It’s hostel so you know what to expect, but this one is pretty clean plus it’s in an old fire station so there’s history behind it. Pretty cool place to stay!
The location. The staff is Awesome. The whole place is very unique. The other guest are exceptional. Very unique place to stay. I love it.
Alright place to stay and the staff was super nice and friendly. If you’re in the area then I think this is a mighty fine place to stay. Also it’s a hostel in Little Rock ? Like what a unique city to have one.
Had a great time here. Came into town for the marathon over the weekend. Met a lot of really cool people. This review is a quick hit on the way out of town, and just wanted to give a shout out to Oliver, Ruby, Kate, Ben, Steve, Eric and all the other fantastic and interesting humans I came into contact with there. The pizzas in the picture because we had a little pizza party after the marathon. (They dont make pizza here, but if you play your cards right and have good timing, you can snag a mess of free eggs on the property from these mutant goose-duck things that live around the hostel area.)The place is very clean, very interesting, affordable, and like the website says it encourages you to be a traveler and not a visitor. Had a lot of interesting conversations with people from different places. (Guys if you dont want your pictures up or your names mentioned I will scrub this when I get home.)
Great hostel run by a few volunteers. Its a small place, so definitely contact them if youll arrive outside of normal hours, though. Would stay again!
Stayed here one night during my trip from Texas to Georgia. This was my first time staying at a hostel so I was a little nervousbut everything was clean and I had a great stay. Will definitely keep it in mind if Im traveling through that area without the family again.
This is an adequate hostel. I felt safe. Noise travels through every floor and wall, but the 10pm quiet time was respected during my stay. The kitchen smells a bit.
Not a terrible experience, but could have been better. Customer service was great and the manager was very kind and accommodating. Unfortunately we had issues with the roof leaking one night. The manager offered a refund but it never showed up on my card. No one ever seems to answer the emails or phones there, so I just wrote it off as a loss, which accounts for my lower rating. We had a private captains room and it worked for our needs, but for the price I would have preferred a night without dripping walls. I was told they would not offer private rooms after my visit due to the roof repairs, but I still see the room listed on Expedia. The hostel is next to the park where there are some questionable park visitors and bright street lights in the window, but we were able to keep our bikes in the room for safekeeping.
Great place to stay if youre coming from out of town.
Great hostel experience in Little Rock in a unique property. Quiet facility and pleasant staff. Thanks for providing a hostel in Little Rock. The area is well lit and the facility secure.
It was a very nice stay staff is great place looks nice and cleane overall great experience
With the little museum and all of the remaining elements of the original firehouse, the location is unique and interesting. Parking is easy. The area is quiet. During my stay everything was quiet, but there was only one other person in my dorm. The location is excellent if you have business in the government areas of Little Rock. The staff was friendly and helpful. The many ducks and geese wandering around from the pond in the attached park provided an entertaining interaction when coming and going. This is a hostel so expectations need to match what we are renting. Everything appeared to be very clean but there was a horrible urine stench in the shared restroom. The cheap bunk bed mattress was as expected. The spring hammock underneath it kept it quite comfortable for me. Expect beds to be a little noisy, uneven, and soft when moving around.Overall this was a good experience especially considering the price and location. In the very rare case that I am travelling alone again, I would consider returning.
Very cozy place with a museum that at one time was a firehouse. I have never stayed in a hostel so as to compare I have no idea. Kind of a staying at a friends house experience. Definitely better than staying in a chain motel room!!!
Wonderful place to stay with very lovely hosts and a damn fine kitty cat.
This has the added bonus of having items that have been used in firefighting through the ages, with articles about firefighters as well. Set on the edge of the park in a very quiet residential street, but with the added bonus of the bus stop right outside. Not too far from a good value supermarket and fastfood restaurants and all the other attractions Little Rock has to offer. The Manager was great in advising of the facilities in advance, so you felt comfortable in using the kitchen, reading corner, wifi, getting a coffee etc
Wonderful experience. Key card to access hostel and dorm. Breakfast included cereal, orange juice, toast, oatmeal, coffee or hot tea. Big refrigerator. Nice kitchen with appliances. Neat museum. Clean bunk beds. Bathrooms inside dorms. Huge lock boxes (approx. 3 ft x 2 ft x 1.5 ft). I fit my suitcase, backpack and other items in there. Just bring a lock. Nice volunteer staff. They do sell some travel items that you may need during your stay. Overall, very good experience.
Clean, Quiet, and friendly. Its a good location. Unique and interesting firehouse museum. It is also very comfortable!
Nice, clean property and it is located in a very pretty area of Little Rock. Lots of nearby restaurants and plenty of things to do. We were pleased with our stay and would stay again.
Really neat museum and people running it... everyone should visit and or stay the night lots of history of the local fire departments... clean and in a great location....the structure is itself a retired fire station...
The man at the counter that was volunteering over Easter weekend was so friendly, tell him Olivia from Kansas City says hi! The hostel was clean (bathrooms and kitchen were even clean), quiet and had a lot of amenities you dont often see at a hostel (free tea, coffee, breakfast, small selection of food during the day, towel, etc). The museum aspect of the hostel was an interesting touch. Definitely unique and Ill definitely be back!
Good hostel with interesting decor. Kudos to staff dealt correctly with an inappropriate guest who was violating numerous rules and keeping others from sleeping.
It wasnt what I expected but we ended up loving it!
I personally didn’t feel safe in this hostel. When I pulled up to the parking lot, someone tried to sell me drugs. Cars were parked outside in the hostel’s parking lot all night with people sitting in them. However, when I went inside the hostel, staff was incredibly nice. Breakfast was included in the morning.
This hostel is VERY nice. I highly recommend staying there. The manager and the board members are super friendly. LR needs more of this good energy.
Wonderful location! Beautiful, clean, and well stocked. The kitchen is great and the firehouse theme provides history and interest. The exit lights in the rooms are super bright so being a sleep mask, other then that brilliant hostel.
Not only is it a hostle, It’s also a museum for firefighters.
This hostel is also a museum and it is so nice and charming. It is really neat to be able to stay in an old firehouse and meet new friends from all over the world. I am from Little Rock and I have traveled using hostels before in America and Ireland and I am so proud that this hostel is a welcoming place to all travelers. There are ladies dorms, mens dorms and a co-ed dorm and a nice kitchen for guest use.
This was the first hostel that I ever stayed at. It was such a positive experience. The staff were so friendly. The hostel is new, so the facilities are nice. The hostel is in a park that closes at night so it is a quiet neighborhood. But if you are looking for fun, there is plenty of nightlife within walking distance. The Uber rates are really reasonable when its not surging. Its a non profit hostel so they are not in it for the money. They just want to be a cheap, fun place for people to gather. It worked perfectly in that regard.
They have a variety of rooms, (female, male, mixed, handicapped accessible) really convenient luggage storage, everything feels super secure. Safe neighborhood. Fantastic bathrooms. The staff are wonderfully helpful and the surrounding area is really nice to walk around in. Theres a park and art museum within a minutes walk, and plenty of little shops here and there in about 10-15 minutes walk.Super cute place!
The checkin was easy, staff seemed nice, and the property appears clean. However, I didn’t get any sleep. Quiet hours are SUPPOSED to be 10p-7a, but several guests AND the lady working night shift were outside my room door playing card games and laughing LOUDLY until close to midnight. Had I not come out of my room TWICE to express my annoyance, there’s no telling how late they would have continued with the noise DURING QUIET TIME. I was extremely disappointed because the noise violation was encouraged by the staff due to her participation. Once I finally went to sleep, I woke up to multiple insect bites around both my ankles and one side of my body. I don’t know if they are bed bug or mosquito bites, but I trashed everything and hightailed it out of there as soon as I woke up the next morning. Will NEVER stay again.
A real gem in Little Rock. My stay was very comfortable and peaceful. The Firehouse is surrounded by a park, and you will have a nostalgic feeling staying here. Thanks to the staff, who made my stay memorable
Nice staying in a historic site. The staff was friendly.
It was very clean. There is a small selection of free food for everyone. Bread, cereal, milk, peanut butter, jam etc. The museum part was really cool. They had a couple chunks from the World Trade Center from 9/11, antique ladders and fire suits. Overall would stay here again if the chance ever arises.
Would come back 100%. Friendly staffs! They would hold the door open for me without me even asking them to. Showed me around with a lot of details!
An amazing experience, kind and hospitable, safe and comfortable. Along with being a historical firehouse, its surrounded by a beautiful park and art museum. The general manager was a blesssing helping my friends and I navigate downtown. Strongly recommend to anyone wanting to meet people and not break their bank.
OMGI love this place from the moment I walked in I am the one that is the tattoo artist that made them laugh that they needed that day they said they needed a good life they were the most fun friendly caring and knew all about information of that beautiful museum/hostile needed it was a wonderful experience I have a great video of it as well like to post it somehow but over all it was wonderful and if I could Id live there
This hostel is the only hostel in the state of Little Rock. It is in a prefect location as well.
Great location close to downtown. Friendly, helpful staff. A really fun place to stay!
Nice place. Unfortunately, my only roommate was loud & obnoxious in every way. Little peace or shut eye until like 3 am. Oh, apparently snores erratically too. Tip: bring comfy ear plugs. I ended up leaving at 4a ;(. Place itself & staff is fine.
This hostel is in a great location, right in the center of Little Rock Arkansas. The fact that its a firehouse museum is a huge plus! Also, the staff there are really nice and helpful.
Incredibly kind staff. Clean propery. Will definitely stay again!!
Great place. Friendly, decent, very clean. Cosy
Very nice for brand new hostel. Good beds, friendly staff, and you sleep in a museum. Where else can you do that? Ill stay here again without any questions.
No child under the age of 10? You have got to be kidding me. That is absolutely ridiculous!
50/50, definitely recommend!! very great and active host, comfortable setting, everyones super friendly. incredibly safe.
Great location. Very interesting memorabilia.
An amazing gem of a hostel located in a park. Its a firehouse! Historical, educational, and nice service and clean rooms.
Absolutely better than staying a motel. Very very friendly staff, clean rooms/bathroom. Joe at the front desk was very personable and genuinely interested in his guests experience and reasons for coming to town. I was in town between hiking the ozark highlands trail and flying home to portland. I had my big heavy pack and had a whole day to kill and even though checkout was 11 am, they had no problem with me leaving my pack all day while touring town. Met two different people there who i enjoyed the company of (exactly the point of hostels). I will be back next fall and will absolutely stay at HI Little rock. Only half the price of a motel with 10X the hostpitality. Also the firehouse museum inside is very cool and kind of heart wrenching.
I just moved to Little Rock and was looking for cheap stay (sort of extended stay) as I needed to find apartment and settle down. I had a booking for about a week at this amazing facility. Let me say this is the best stay I could have had in LR on my first visit. Recently remodeled, safe, affordable, and very friendly warm welcoming folks. You get everything you need for stay - breakfast, fast wifi, clean beddings and Washroom with free toiletries at that unbeatable price! Most important that you get above all is the best staff!I got a chance to meet great ladies - Lynda, Jennifer, Sally and Carley and a great gentleman - James. As I was new to the city they helped me literally with everything, right from suggestions to favors. It was just outstanding experience for me.Did I mentioned they were very accommodative to arrange and adjust for my luggage as I had a whole sedan full of stuffs as I moved from AL to AR. Given a chance I would loved to stay back again. And sure I look forward to swinging by to say Hey in future.
Only bad thing is noise through floor and walls due to no insulation. Doors slam shut due to self closing mechanisms so what is needed is the little cushions you can get from home Depot to put in door jambs to stop noise.
Beautiful place! Staff is awesome! Super clean! Five stars!
This hostel is amazing. Charming and comfortable
Awesome! Clean, close to downtown, and the beds are soft.
