Excellent display summarizing the African American civil rights movement from the 1800s till 1950s. Entrance is free. The focus is on the Little Rock Nine but still a great history lesson for all. They have a few replica models of the high school and a few audio stations but most will be reading wall posters. It also briefly touches on Japanese Americans and Alaskan Native Americans.
It was an excellent experience for me to visit Central High Museum. It was an experience in my 56th years of life that I will never forget. And the workers there is also Excellent and very knowledgeable able everything. It was my first time there and YES I will and shall go back and visit and take my great nieces and the children from Church with me. I recommend everyone go and visit there. It is So amazing .
Impactful. Have to visit the museum and walk the grounds if youre in the area. Would recommend visiting the museum first.
It is really great that there is a museum with artifacts and loads of information right across from the historic Central High School. Although, we went during COVID19, so parts of the experience were not available. I found the self-guided video clips to be the most helpful. They were primary video sources from when the crisis happened in the 50s, along with clips of the Little Rock Nine speaking about their experiences years later.
So dope. So much information. So much emotion. So many great things! The well preserved history of such a pivotal moment in this county is spectacular. I loved it and cant wait to visit again.
Ive learned about the history but to be here in person made it real.
Great place for black history of the Arkansas 9. You got visit the visitor center-its great history.
Learned so much
Awesome trip! Our NPS Ranger Randy gave great presentation on the history and importance of this site! He brought it to life...feeling history is always better than just reading about it.
Heavy place. Must see.
There were news reels of the event where the kids were barred from entering the high school based on race. No thought how smart or interested they were in learning. Pictures of people obviously making their life uncomfortable. Hopefully those people realized their error later in life. The barred kids acted courteously and refused to meet hate with hate. Non-violence worked for them. Those kids and parents were BRAVE.
So well done and informative.
This place is small but packed with history and info. Also the attendant at the front desk was excellent at providing info, telling us how it worked, and after all, its even free!
Grounds seemed to be well maintained as every national park is I have been too. Tours are available of the high school along with many audio visual historical documentations.
Very Powerful. Super happy we still have this.
I highly recommend checking this out. If you want to learn something this is the place to go. I thought I knew a lot about this subject before the visit and discovered that Nope! There was a lot more to learn. A must visit when in Little Rock.
Very good visitor center.
The museum itself is kind of anticlimactic, but the back story is well worth the visit.
Very interesting. Gives you the history on what happened there. Theres also a tour guide to explain things too. Well he was there when we were.
This is a great museum for those interested in the modern American civil rights movement. For those of us who have witnessed that struggle, Central High is an awesome place to visit.
Phenomenal
If you visit Little Rock, this Museum and tour is NOT to be missed! To understand the struggle that still exists for people of color in this country you must learn history...wonderful place to learn and grow.
