Good for kids. Needs more donations to become top notch. Great price for entry though. I wanted to volunteer to help them clean the fish tanks and upgrade their animal habitats. I feel bad for the animals but thats just me. The Tutankhamun exhibit was good.African exhibit downstairs needs some help. Not everyone in Africa lives in huts and art is very touristy. The animal exhibits are nice.
Well maintained. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. 2 and 5yr olds love it. Some exhibits feel unfinished but the King Tut, dinosaurs, and sea life exhibits are really cool. Get a staffer to talk you through them for really cool insights.
This is a great stop. It had many different rooms on two levels. A lot of attention to detail. In fact the picture Ive attached shows an incredible life-size display. The detail even showed the struggle taking place in a mudhole and the animals even had mud on them.
This museum is a lot of fun. There is an exhibit with dinosaurs. I exhibit that I liked was the one with a Egyptian tomb. It demonstrated what Howard Carter found when they opened King Tuts tomb. There is also a fun marine exhibit. Kids would like that one. The price is fair, with senior, and kid discounts!
Our experience here was amazing. We decided to visit for the solo reason that my son absolutely loves dinosaurs, we weren’t disappointed although it’s small. All the Exhibit are pretty cool. For a 2 year old this was a blast. The activity area could use some improvement but we still had fun coloring our Dinosaurs and scanning them onto the screen. If you have time and You want to walk outside for a picnic with the kiddos. There is a nice little area. I didn’t but the park in very close to the Museum, Staff was super friendly. Price wise not bad at all. Gift shop it’s pretty small but the prices are reasonable we got a hat for $10 bucks.
Excellent experience!!! friendly staff and stunning displays of art and animals. Would recommend 100% of the time. If you live here or just coming by. This is the place to go!!
Great value, and my 8yo loved it. Would definitely recommend.
An amazing place here in LV. Great for kids and families. Great for groups. Very well kept. Everyone is very informed, very nice, and helpful. I like bringing my kids here. There are activities for all ages. Fish feedings, animal petting, explorations. A must visit.
I had so much fun! I learned about the geological history of Nevada and the prehistoric animals that roamed here as well as the birds and animals that still do.
Im 30 and loved this place! Every room was super interesting and educational and a great way!
Very nice time to spend a few hours. Might be small but there is a lot to see.
I went with my daughter and 2 grandkids, the kids had a blast. They had a hands on activity for the kids to build a snowman, fun and creative. The kids love the dinosaurs and animal displays, but their favorite is the ocean exhibit. Great way to spend the morning.
Friendly staff, Paleontologists, and clean space! Loved the exibits!
Wow, amazing place, to learn for adults and kids, its so big it takes about 2 hrs to finish, they have activities for the kids, amazing and the price wow amazing, there gift Shop is not even expensive like other gift shops.
The museum has about 10 different show rooms, it is great to get out of the 115 weather and see all the history. An employee told me that a lot of the fossils they have dug up came right from the Vegas Valley. The only thing that brought down my rating is the cleaninleness/ aged exhibits. My fav is the king Tut exhibit n Egypt room.
Great place to bring the young ones. We have been here for 10 minutes and there are lots of good learning activities already. Highly recommended for the inquisitive little ones.
Super friendly staff. Nice Geo exhibit. Small but nice for a couple of hours with kids to learn something. Worth the price and you can get discount with AAA membership.
A great stop for the kids! Lots of stuff to look at and touch. They do feedings for the animals so I think children would enjoy that. A little pricey for my taste, but in Vegas, what do you expect
This is a great place to take your kids. Its very entertaining and interesting. I have to admit I enjoyed it too. Definitely love the fish tanks! The gift shop has very reasonable prices.
Havent been back to this since I was a little girl and just took my two young children. Ages 3 and to respectfully and we had a wonderful time. The dinosaurs may be scary for some children but mine loved it. Bring snacks though, they have a vending machine but not many vegan and healthy options. Though it does take debit cards. also enjoyed that the gift shop was off in the corner and can be completely bypassed if needed to. Wonderful place!
I paid for the curator-led, guided tour and it was one of the best museum experiences Ive ever had. The information and stories that the curator shared with us, which is too much to be written on the exhibit plaques, was fascinating and took my tour to a level Ive never experienced at another museum. The private collections and stories that go along with those exhibit pieces added that much more to the tour. This museum may not have as many exhibits or look as fancy as the Smithsonian but they do a great job, especially considering the price, at providing an educational experience with a good variety of exhibits.
This place looked small on the outside but was huge on the inside! There was so much to learn about and see!!
It is a great educational place for children, but as an adult I didnt really enjoy it that much. Only the dinosaur display awakened my inner child
Friendly local museum. A lot bigger than i expected. Extensive collection of taxidermy animals, live animals. fish, reptiles, snakes, and people. great geology room. Dinosaurs, African safari and art. Native Nevada species. One of two reproductions in the country of King Tuts tomb. full day of fun for families, seniors, and adults. Gift shop and memberships available.
Perfect size for two active and curious toddlers. Not so big, therefore, manageable! The museum has several different exhibits to explore. Loved their dianosaur exhibit as well as marine life room. We appreciated friendly staff answering questions and enjoyed hands on activities such as digging for fossils and riding toy dinosaurs!
Great and educational. I spent about 2 and a half hrs here. For $12, how could you not go?
One of my favorite places to take my kids. It’s small and cozyStaff is AMAZING Memberships are affordable n also the are also valid at many ASTC locations throughout the nation! ️Has plenty to see!!! Lots of animals dead and alive lol you can even pet a set of the bears I ALWAYS renew my membership because it’s worth it and not expensive at all.
I readout enjoyed the exhibit on geodes, Egypt and the one about dinosaurs.
We’ve been to many Muesuems and this one is very good! Lots and lots to see. Expect to take 1-3 hours to see and interact with everything.
So much to see, and the facts to read are actually interesting. We were far from bored at this museum. Great for kids and adults. They even brought some live reptiles out to pet! They have a small gift shop and vending machines. $10 military/senior tickets when we went for Memorial Day weekend. It was worth it! Stroller friendly too. Spent about 2 hours here.
Had a great time and enjoyed learning more about world history with my family
Las Vegas does not mean only booze and gambling! It means museums and culture, too.I visited the museum a few weeks ago, while on holiday, because it was on myMust visit list.I recommend the museum,as the taxidermy animals were clearly taken care of and carefully made.It is not an interesting visit for the kids, but for the adults, too! You will travel across the 7 continents and also have the chance to feel a bears fur and other interesting activities as well. This is a must do if you are into museums!
What a great museum this is. I grew up here, but never visited until recently. The exhibits are broken up into different rooms on two floors. The guides are very knowledgeable as well.
Good place to take your family for a dayEntry fee is so affordable and all the animals you see in my photos they looks so real..because they are ...stuff and preserved
Good basic introduction to many natural historical periods with an excellent collection of incredibly preserved animals. Very well done, and fun to find with the excellent RTC Transit system. Highly recommended!
Fun place to learn about history and science and keep the kids busy for a couple of hours
A surprising amount of attractions for such a small museum
AMAZING!!!! Did you know that dolphins are part of the whale family? That sharks lose teeth when they eat and replace as many as 25,000 teeth in a lifetime? That the teeth of a viperfish are so sharp and long that if it closed its mouth with the teeth inside, it would pierce its brain?
Nice place to visit. Well kept and informative.
I really did not expect such a fun and amazing display of wild animals. I would definitely recommend taking the kids here.
This museum was small yet managed to be completely thorough. We especially enjoyed watching a real paleontologist in the lab processing 45 million year old mammoth teeth!
Always love coming here. My little ones like the back room with interactive exhibits, and found courage to touch the tarantula and snake during their animal exploration time. It was the last day for their beautiful holiday traditions display and a bonus taiko drumming demonstration (that was a little loud for the kids). They are currently renovating the fish area and we cant wait to come back when it is finished.
The Egyptian section is top notch, surprisingly so for a small museum! Historically accurate to the minute detail. The docents were very knowledgeable and made our trip so much fun! Thanks, folks! Highly recommend.
This museum is a great place for families, they have many different parts to explore, with a room especially for kids! The staff is wonderful, and it was a great experience and a fun adventure to visit today.
I strongly recommend this public museum to anyone who wants to learn more about life! From dinosaurs, to fish, and even early humans, the exhibits are detailed and ever-changing. There is even an exhibit dedicated to nevada wildlife, complete with the sounds, smells, and sights. I cant wait to go back!
It was very informational, you were able to see historical relics, and pet live animals. Cant wait to come back and visit again!
Absolutely a great place to explore. We arr locals and I love rotating exhibits. A place the family can come to learn. I homeschool and the Natural History Museum was Great!
My family and I love it!this place is amazing! My family loves this place, it has many impressive things. This museum is for the whole family. It is an exellent place for the Kids. I recommend it, we had an excellent experience.Thank you
This is a great family place! Lots of interesting things to learn! Our family likes going yearly during the Science Festival in Spring! Theres a lot of activities being offered!
This was a nice, quaint museum, but very enjoyable. Not a lot of activity when I went with my housemate and his mother, but still enjoyable!
Great place for family fun! History through time!
Such a very cool place. Lets start off with the parking. Lots and lots of parking space. Also it was FREE!!!! Talk about already winning before you enter this place. Free parking is such a pleasant surprise here in Las Vegas. Then once you walk in there is great deals to be taken advantage of. Military and local discounts. Children under a certain age in free! I believe it is 3 years or younger is free. Can not remember honestly. But it only cost $16 dollars for my son and I. What a great deal!!!! We went during the Covid-19 virus outbreak and the place was empty. We had the whole place to ourselves. We walked around and enjoyed everything this place has to offer. There is a shark feeding station, dinosaur section, Egyptian section, and every animal you can think of. Lots to learn and so much to be reminded about. Definitely fun for the whole family. If you can take as many pictures as you can because you will want to remember your time here. The gift shop is in the basement next to the African display. Its on the smaller side at the moment and only 4 people are allowed in there at a time. So please be respectful of that. Once you are in the giftshop take advantage of the .25 cent dinosaurs. Lots of cool shirts and great priced toys. After parking, walking around for over an hour looking at displays, entrance fees, and buying eight dinosaurs toys in the gift shop. My total experience cost only $18 dollars. Now that is something worth bragging about. Dont forget to press the buttons on the trex dinosaur. Then you can hear it RAWR!!!!!!!!!
Great place to bring kids. They have lots of animal exhibits like dinosaurs, lions, bears, etc. They even have a small aquarium.
Really interesting exibit and very helpful and nice staff
The only thing I regret about my trip to the LV Natural History Museum is that I couldn’t bring my kids with me. The museum is small but it is extremely well done! There is an extensive collection of taxidermy animals from all over the world, informative and visually appealing exhibits on sea life and dinosaurs, and a recreation of King Tut’s Tomb! They even have a interactive kids section that included an opportunity to hold/pet live animals (the ball python was out during our visit). The entrance fee is very reasonable and they have discounts for military and students so bring your IDs. The gift shop was small and reasonably priced as well. It’s off the strip and I recommend taking an Uber instead of a taxi as the former will be half as much.If I ever go back to Vegas I would definitely visit again.
This place is amazing! Had my son his birthday party here and we are beyond great full for the service we got! Connie and the other young lady were so patient with the kids during the animal encounter! All the staff is super nice and welcoming, they were all very helpful! I definitely would recommend this place to come visit or even for a birthday party! Will definitely be coming back I am super satisfied with the service!
Great place for kids. My 3 year old girls loved it. I got the 1 year membership for a family was 65$ & got a free dinosaur toy & they had free ice cream for when you leave.
Great for kids; Permian monsters exhibit had animatronic monsters set to move with nearby motion. Ancient Egypt exhibit is immersive. Recommend seeing the shark feeding, offered multiple times a week. Nice little gift shop.
This place has tons of cool historical items.
Really fun, but I hope they update their exhibits sometime. Those poor taxidermy animals look so sad. The fossils are amazing though!
Its a very quaint museum. Not a place to spend a lot of time but nice for a break away from the Strip and a good opportunity to see some of the geological history of the area. They have some quaint exhibits, like the dinosaur one. Good place for kids!
Really friendly staff. Great displays and 2 floors for the kids to explore.
Small and outdated. Staff were friendly but I wouldnt return or recommend to anyone else.
The place was very educational and the employees were super helpful and nice. It is sad that so many places have stopped donating. Seriously our history is very important and fun. The Egyptian tomb was very fun.
Pretty good place to go lots of activities and interaction inside the museum
Absolutely wonderful with friendly staff
Kids loved it! Very intimate and cozy experience with the kids. Will definitely return when in town.
I love taking my daughter and my firneds kids here. Its a great place to spend time and to get the kids to learn
Amazing museum located in Las Vegas! Its out of the way especially for tourists but there is a lot to see and do in this surprisingly large exhibit. Staff are polite and helpful and admission reasonable.
Staff was extremely friendly and helpful! The first weekend of the month, Bank of America gives out free admission to card holders so my friend and I got in for free! The museum is not as big as the Natural History Museum of Los Angels but it does offer its own wide verity of exhibitions.
Great experience. The kids loved it. Definitely coming back. Tons of history and educational facts.
This museum isnt as small as it looks from the outside. The exhibits were well kept and interesting. The Egyptian portion of it was my favorite but the dinosaur exhibit was awesome! We bought a membership and I will take my grandkids there when they come to see me! The staff were so nice! Love this place
Love taking the grandkids here. If you have questions the staff is more than happy to answer and if they dont know they will find an answer for you.
Its smaller than any other Natural History museum that Ive visited but was educational and a good break from the regular Vegas attractions.
There is more to this museum than meets the eye! We spent several hours there and enjoyed every minute. Even at my age I learned a lot. Its a nice, reasonably priced diversion from the casinos.
Diverse exhibits covering geology, flora and fauna over prehistoric eras. Interesting Egypt exhibit a bonus.
A great museum! It was the best part of my trip to Vegas, I loved the dinosaur and all the live fish.
The founding of the Las Vegas Natural History Museum stemmed from the realization of a growing need in the community for a museum promoting an appreciation and understanding of global life forms, past and present. In February 1989, a small group of citizens requested that the Las Vegas City Council assist in finding a home for a pre-existing collection of wildlife and other exhibits of prehistoric origin. The City of Las Vegas purchased a building, located in the center of a proposed Cultural Corridor, to house the Museum and leased for one dollar a year. The institution itself, however, keeps the responsibility for renovations, upkeep and operations. With the assistance of local businesses and private individuals, the Las Vegas Natural History Museum opened its doors in July 1991, exhibiting a varied collection of wildlife and prehistoric exhibits on loan. Since then, the Museum has obtained its own world-class collection and created an exciting and interactive learning experience. From the desert to the ocean, from Alaska to Africa, from prehistoric times to the present, the Las Vegas Natural History Museum takes young and old alike on a learning adventure around the world.— [the Museum propositions, slightly modified).— 5VH8+WF Las Vegas, Nevada, U.S.A.
A lot to see in a day... Plan to see parts of the museum different days, thats my advice. Very nice place
Great little place, my family and kids enjoyed it.
Fun place to spend time.
Average natural history museum. We went on a weekday and there was very little people there so it was easy to get around. We got to observe the feeding of the lion fishes and eel and the handler was very nice and allowed our grandson to watch up close. Very average displays.
We have visited lots of museums and this place is one of the worst in America! It was really disappointing to me, since Nevada is my home state. The staff wasnt friendly at all. One guy was on a power trip or something. He patrolled the museum to snap at little kids and bark orders to the adults. He tried to tell me about a display and I was so irritated I just ignored him. Maybe he should tell kids about the displays instead of yelling at them. The displays were really light on information. The taxidermy work was pretty good, but the animals just had their name listed. No map showing where they live, no details on them, nothing but the name of the animal.Parking was free, probably the best part of the museum. We got in with our ASTC membership and it cost us $6. Might be worth that. I would have been mad if I had paid the $42 it would normally have cost our family of 5 to visit.
A solid museum without a lot of flash. Dinosaur exhibit is one of the better ones. Human origins was good but a decade or so out of date. Egypt exhibit accomplished a lot with very little; would have liked origin+age/replica status on each part though. Aquatic area was good, guy cleaning the lionfish aquarium was great. Wildlife was nice, especially the local exhibit.
What an amazing museum. You will spend a good 2-3 hrs. Worth the cost, and for small kids. My kids love dinosaurs, and the exhibit did not disappoint. Amazing staff as well.
My son and I really enjoyed the Rainforest traveling exhibit and the Egypt exhibit. Dont forget to ask for you teachers discount and show your badge teachers.
VERY DISAPPOINTING! Unless you get your tickets free and want to only waste auto gas..DONT bother. Can spend better time at connecting site ( Mormon Fort & Helen Jane Wiser-Stewart first lady of Las Vegas). Or visit Mob Museum and/or other landmark sites. If youre ages 3 to 8 you might get an experience but not developed for adults.....and Im car-based in education!
A great deal of this museum is actually stuffed animals, many of which are literally falling apart. We were disappointed with the lack of information on all of the exhibits in general. We brought snacks and sat crowded around the only two tables crammed in next to a vending machine. After our visit, we walked across the street to a gas station to get some water. Our Uber driver declared on picking us up, What the heck are you doing walking around here? It is NOT a safe place. Good grief.
The Marine room was so cool! We watched an employee feed the sharks, an eel, fish that share a tank with the eel, and the frog fish. He also gave some information about the marine life they have at the museum, very knowledgeable and friendly. The museum is quite large and you could easily spend three hours there. Awesome place for children and everyone can learn something new.
The museum is small, but it packs a lot into a small area and has a plethora of variety in exhibits. Everyone was super friendly and it was cool to see the area where they cleaned and prepared fossils. The building and amenities feel slightly dated, but that doesnt diminish from the richness of their displays.
