Before you join any league or tournament make sure you ask if it’s being ran by an intern or not. %80 percent of all leagues I have joined with this corporation is ran by an intern. Softball has 1 “ one” yes one umpire in every league. Same with all other sports. Once they have your money your in no matter what circumstances. They will switch venue on you last second in tournaments. Last basketball tourney held at elementary school with no 3 point line. Broken Promises needs improvement .!!!!!!!
Nothing but positivity with Sports Monster! The facilities they use are some of the best in the state of Colorado. The referees they employ are trained and are great at diffusing potential altercations. They even go so far as to provide a bar tab for a team that gets forfeited on! Highly recommend Sports Monster for the competitive and social atmosphere they provide!
Nothing but a great time with these leagues. They are run very well, it’s competitive, and most of all wicked fun. I highly recommend you sign up for one of these leagues. You definitely will NOT regret it!
Sports Monster is still developing and growing as more people move to Denver and become active in rec sports. I have played in their flag football leagues and tournaments continuously and although I have had complaints at times they are very open to listening and working with suggestions to make sure the leagues are as good as they can be. The staff has been super friendly and the leagues have been competitive and positive. I think other peoples comments hear are overly critical. I continue to play with Sports Monster and if youre looking to meet new people, have fun or get in an active engaging workout - come join!
The people always make the organization and Sports Monster hires exceptional people to run their organization. Great place to invest your money for recreational and competitive leagues. Managed well!
Its a great way to spend an afternoon in a competitive environment! I cant recommend this company enough if youre new to the area. Theres no better way to meet people and quickly fit into the community.
Sports Monster Denver is always a good time! I enjoy playing with them because they are all about customer service and having fun. They have a great staff, and they hire hard working and very friendly interns. This is the place to be for all your competitive and fun sporting events!!
Ive been playing in the mens competitive league for going on five years now. The competition is good and the league is run efficiently. Definitely a good place to get your sports fix!
The best. Always use when looking for a league to participate in and the employees are top notch. Highly recommend
Id give 0 stars if I could. My wife signed up to play tennis. Paid a registration cost. When the day came for the league to start, we were informed it was delayed a week. A week passed, and we were told the league was cancelled as their wasnt enough registered to justify playing. We requested a refund. They told my wife she could only put the money towards another league, or tennis next season. No refunds, apparently. When she said she didnt choose any backup leagues, because the form didnt make her, they said its a requirement. Convenient. All in all, its a dumpy operation. Dont waste your time.
Such a great company! Problems dont occur often, but when they do, they are always happy to help! If the only think someone can complain about in a league is the refs, then it is a GREAT league. Highly recommend this company.
Really poor management and customer service. Zero refunds of any kind/amount when the basic services you sign up for cant be provided. They offer discounts for future leagues that you can use when they screw up instead of giving you a discount on what you actually signed up for. Basically, they offer you the ability to give them more money, but a very minimally reduced amount. Management is inept and rude, as stated above. Costs keep going up, but service keeps getting worseIf you can, find a different league. Unfortunately they have a monopoly on some of the better fields/courts.
Really just an all around awful company. Social events I signed up for always got cancelled and the soccer league I was in was located in the middle of the ghetto and ultimately getting our cars egged by all the Mexicans there. They moved us but only after massive refund requests and threats of everyone leaving. How they are still in buisiness is beyond me. There are much better social/sport clubs in Denver to try. Sports Monster sucks!
The staff in Denver works hard to offer well-run leagues and social events. They do great work and offer a wide variety of leagues!
I do not recommend this sports league to anyone. Attempted to sign up for their basketball league and paid the full team price up front. We were the only team to sign up which is fine. However, never once did they reach out to let my team and I know that the league had been cancelled. Additionally, I had a nightmare of a time getting a refund. I left several voicemails with no returned calls. They also at one point were trying to claim I wouldnt get the full refund back due to a cancellation fee! All in all a very poor customer service experience.
Great way to stay active and meet other people who like to play sports for fun.
Enjoyed playing in the flag football league! Casual league, but great atompshere and experience!
I play in several soccer leagues with sports monster. My honest review is that it is frustrating when there is only one ref that is at a game. That only happened once to me, but I can imagine how difficult it would be to find enough refs to cover 5 fields a night because they have so many teams. And really how much can you complain about Sports Monsters’ refs when Play Mile High’s refs wear basketball striped jerseys to ref soccer, which just shows how inexperienced and unprepared they are. League managers, taylor and roger, do their absolute best to satisfy their customers and accommodate everyones’ needs. I personally love the competition and fields this company has to offer.
Zach does a really great job handling everything and making sure that leagues and social events are ran to their best potential.
Great company and service! Would highly recommend.
Jayson has been VERY helpful in finding me a great team but also when I had issues making the games. Very good customer service.
My soccer league on Monday nights at Dicks Park is one of the best leagues I have played in in a long time. Despite some setbacks with weather over the season, the rained-out matches were all rescheduled for us. I cant wait to get started with the summer season!
Sports Monster leagues are fun, with an easy, not so competitive atmosphere quite different than stringent municipal leagues. In todays softball culture, women are by and large some of the best players; by virtue of the fact that they are the products of the excellent coaching in high school and college programs.Sports Monsters rules do not treat women as if they are inherently inferior. Creating an even playing field; so to speak.Ill see you at the ballpark!Want a tip..? Dont go down looking!.
I highly recommend avoiding Sports Monster. The refs are poor, if they ever show up. The fields are nice, although they have awful communication with the facility staff ending with the gates locked or the lights never turning on. Customer service is non-existent, if you have a problem or complaint it will likely go unresolved. Bottom line - there are a lot of good sports programs in Denver, but Denver Sports Monster is not one of them.
Our office team softball experience was awful. Sports Monster cares more about making money than they ever will about their customers. They cancel games all the time for no reason, blame the city for every instance of fields not being available, lights are never on, umps are terrible. Their standpoint is always that you agreed to the terms and conditions forfeiting any rights as a consumer. We know play with City Wide Sports and everything is much better. More games, better umpires, and it comes at a better price.Do yourself a favor and stay away from Sports Monster.
I gave this league a try since I have a lot of friends who like to play soccer. The level of organization is poor. They do a really bad job of rescheduling canceled games, and their ability to communicate changes in scheduling is terrible. Their customer service is wretched. Just pop on Yelp and look at some of the responses their asinine owner writes to customers.Probably the worst thing is the referees. Many of them dont even speak english, so they just make random calls (or dont) which they cant even explain, and lose control of games quickly. The halves are 25 minutes and they even call them early sometimes. Before I signed up, I read a lot of horrible reviews here and thought what the heck and tried anyway. Save yourself the time and money and take my advice, and take your business elsewhere.
Played in both their basketball and softball leagues, loved them both! Wonderful facilities, and respectful, quality competition. I think volleyball will be next.
Dont waste your time signing up with this league. Way better options in Denver then this. Terrible communication, canceled our league and hasnt responded about our refund.
Great organization for IM sports! Have had a great experience so far with sports monster Denver!
I played in a flag football league that ended up having a team drop out. The gal that runs the league worked hard to get us playing every week. It wasnt the ideal situation but I had fun playing.
Love Sports Monster volleyball. I have played in a few leagues, and Sports Monster is my favorite because they keep the website updated (schedules, scores, rankings, etc.) and they do all the leg-work (setting up and tearing down nets, etc) You just show up, play, and have a blast!
I gave this organization One star because I had to in order to rate it. I would have given them a 0. Avoid sportsmonster completely. find a meetup group for your sport or any different group organization. I am the captain of a soccer team and a player on another both through sports monster. They literally messed up everything. Game times, field numbers and the payment were different for every one of my team members, zero consistency. We were promised team jerseys for the 1st game of the season. we are now on week 7 and have yet to receive anything even with me constantly emailing them. another note is the soccer games are only 25 min halves. pretty lame if you ask me.
Sports Monster is SO unorganized. Canceling games, changing fields without telling you that they were changes, refs not showing up or when they do they dont pay attention. I would highly recommend using a different company for intramural sports teams.
When I saw the reviews of these guys I thought How bad could they be? Theyre that bad. We had to teach our refs what off sides is in soccer. Our night games were transferred to a field without lights. Play literally anywhere else.
What. A. Joke. This company is horrible. Terrible customer service, terrible website and terrible and organizing leagues...and thats what theyre specialty is supposed to be. We signed up for a volleyball league last season and it was a disaster.First, it took them 3 weeks to even get a full schedule up, so we had to guess what time our games were at.The first game the ref never showed up, which meant we didnt have nets. Guess what happened the second week? The ref didnt show up again, and we had no nets. We called Sports Monster the next day, and they said its tough to get refs when sporting events are happening because people will call off. yet they dont even let the teams know, so we sit there waiting and wasting part of our night. Ohhh, and no apology, just annoyance that we called them out on it.Week 3...there was really bad weather. We all called up the weather hotline, which hadnt been updated in weeks from the message that played, and the website still said the games were happening that day. We all show up, no ref found once again, so no games. We call them up the next day, and they seemed angry that we were even calling, and said it was cancelled because of weather, but they werent sure why the weather line wasnt updated.Week 4...Guess who didnt show up again? At this point we were done. We called up Sports Monster and emailed them for 3 days before they would even respond to us for a refund. THEY REFUSED TO GIVE A REFUND. Even though in their guidelines it states that if 2 or 3 weeks are cancelled due to their fault, you get a refund. After arguing with them for days and even speaking with corporate, they would only refund us 70% of what we paid and then gave us the number to their attorney if we still wanted to complain. This company is horrible, and I would never recommend funding their corrupt business. After doing research, we found a handful of other companies that form leagues in the Denver area and have had good success with them. Rude staff, bad business practices and unorganized is a short way to sum them up.
Honestly worst sports league in Denver. If you’re considering joining one of their leagues just rethink that and go with a different league. Poor customer service and bad management all around. Sad!
Sports Monster is an absolute joke, not even worthy of one star! I find it humorous that they have employees trying to boost reviews because of how horrible they are...like Katie D, who I am assuming is Katy Doughty that runs the soccer league (look at the review, haha!). And Ken Reichelt who is a league manager with them. Because of knowing this, I am doubting any of the positive reviews that appear.I played kickball and soccer with Sports Monster (the soccer was free so why not?). I paid for kickball and it was such a disaster! I read the reviews but took a chance because it fell within my schedule...what a mistake! The league does not work with you and will unlikely return your phone calls or emails if an issue arises. I will most like be speaking with an attorney it was THAT BAD. I heard that Play Mile High is good for kickball but I have not tried them yet. Soccer was okay but ZogSports is wayyy better! Plus, some of your money goes to charity!!! :)
Not a well run league. Referees are awful. Its only 7 game season
Ken was able to work with us and go the extra mile for our team
I think the score keepers are high most of the time; we literally had to yell at them during the games to get them to add points after a made shot. And then the refs get mad at you for doing this. The refs are bad too.
Avoid Sports Monster!! They are highly unorganized, do not take care of their customers, and they are easily the worst run sports league I have encountered, and I have played in a lot of them.On top of that, the owner of the company is insulting and ineffective. if you have had the pleasure of not interacting with him, I am envious! Not only will they not take care of their customers, but the owner will be sarcastic and rude in his communications, even when you have a reasonable complaint and offer a fair solution.GO WITH ANY OF THEIR COMPETITORS. Even if higher priced, it will be well worth it.Here is a list of all the things that went wrong and what I communicated to the company owner. Even with all these issues, they refused to refund us $150 of the $650 we paid, and instead offered us a credit on another league, saying they had to pay for staff and fields, both of which were huge problems the whole season. No one on our team will ever support them again.1) We were scheduled to play in City Park on Thurs starting June 19th. We didnt end up playing until over a month later on July 21st. We were also informed of the permit issue at City Park 3 days before we were supposed to play. Not only did we have to change fields all the way across town, but Citizens Park also had an issue with permitting or something, and the league continued to be pushed back for a month.2) Thursday was no longer available, so we had to switch to Monday. Also, the only fields available were west Denver, not convenient for many of us. We tried to be flexible because we thought were still going to get to play as planned.3) Every single game was shortened. The first two games were 40 minutes, and the others were 50 minutes (even once we got to a field with lights). Supposed to be an hour. After the first game, the league manager said we would be playing regular timed games from there on out because there would be Jefferson High School and Citizens Park fields available, but that did not happen.4) You mentioned that staffing was paid. Yes, the umpire did a good job showing up. However, the first Denver league manager quit in June, then the 2nd manager was around for a few weeks trying to organize, but he quit after the 1st game. There has been no Denver league manager since the 1st game, so this was not an expense SportsMonster had to pay.5) On the 2nd game in Jefferson High School, all the teams had to crawl through a fence to get in. The gates were all locked, so it seems like this field may not have been paid for either, or maybe the manager was supposed to unlock it but he quit after the 1st game.6) They continued to schedule a team to play that only played in one game. After that game, no one from theat team showed up ever, but they scheduled them for at least 5 more games. They did not realize this because there was no league manager.
All around awful experience with sports monster. leagues Id sign up for kept being cancelled and they would not honor their refund policy.
Love this place
Fun and organized basketball league!
Good league, competitive, and fun!
The best experience!
Cannot schedule games correctly. At least one wrong field/wrong time/wrong court every single season.
(Soccer) Very poor communication with teams, promises that were not kept for referee and field quality, games called off, then on, then off again, etc. Waste of time and money.
