A great weekend get away. You dont need to be a golfer to enjoy the facility. the grounds are are really pretty, its hip and most of all, its quiet at night (no highway traffic). Theres a lovely pool, good restaurant, 9 hole golf course and a private path to the beach. The rooms are really clean, modern and stocked. The beach (5 min walk) is awesome; great coastline. Lastly, we felt that the staff was accomodative and polite.
Complimentary valet parking, they took real good care of my 2006 Corolla. The golf course is beautiful and fun! Breakfast was good, got bloody mary and eggs and bacon, very tasty.
The best hotel you could ever stay at. The staff is some of the friendliest people on earth. The pool is beautiful. The rooms are magnificent. They’re very clean, modern, and the custodial staff is there for everything you may need. They even came by and offered us clean towels after seeing that we were at the beach all day. That golf course is breathtaking. A quick walk to the beautiful beaches of Laguna. The restaurant cooks up some of the best food. No matter what meal you go for, you won’t be disappointed and can order anything on the menu and be more than satisfied with your choice. There usually is a live performance set up right by some bags for some family fun. Will be vacationing here for many years to come.
Everything was great. The view and service were amazing the only thing that bothered me was the ants in the room. Had lots and lots of ants
Exceptionally beautiful and well-kept resort. Really enjoyed the serene environment, food, service, and rooms. Beds were a bit more firm than my liking but this was made up for by the heavenly shower in our room. Didnt get to try to pool due to the cooling weather, but really enjoyed being walking distance to a gorgeous beach and beautiful parks and trails nearby. While *most* resort guests adhered to the CA statewide order to wear masks while in public, there were a considerable amount of visitors (unsure whether resort guests or the general public) that did not consistently wear masks while on the premise. I alerted resort staff to this. While there are signs saying to wear masks, this was not openly enforced by resort staff. This not only made me uncomfortable, but was a core reason I chose to stay at this resort as I thought theyd be adhering to protocols to keep guests and staff safe and socially distanced. Would recommend that the staff do more to enforce this for everyone on premise, else if you are visiting be prepared to see folks not adhering to this 100%. Giving 4 stars because of this experience specific to COVID.
By far one of my favorite hotels ever! The service was amazing, the food was amazing, and it’s a short walk from the beach. The rooms are very nice and peaceful. There are so many amenities and activities. Also the hotel is very earth-conscious which I absolutely love! There are amazing views and it’s has a very relaxing vibe. Overall my family and I enjoyed our stay here and will definitely be returning often! So happy we found this place!
The customer service was amazing at the Sycamore Spa and I loved my deep tissue massage and facial. My back was killing me and Kathy was amazing my pain was gone afterwards. The service was excellent in The Harvest, the spa, and room service. I loved the relaxing scenery. The only thing I didnt like was the coyotes howling at 5am they woke me up. I know this is their home but it was scary. I thought they were outside my room. I would recommend soundproofing rooms I could hear my neighbors early in the morning and slamming door when I was trying to sleep.
As for the food, its pretty good. If youre not familiar with Senegalese cuisine, take a look at the menu in advance. Simple meat, rice and veggie dishes, many of which are spiced. One can never go wrong with black beans and plantains.
Stayed Labor Day weekend. Upon check on requested maid service and arrangements for payment. Had lunch on arrival. Food was good but TERRIBLE service. Asked Oscar our bus boy for sweetener and bit what an attitude! The bugs and bees were do annoying. Tried to make a reservation for golf for next day. Nope all full with locals so no space for guests. At $1100/nite. Next day housekeeping never showed. Called 3x. Finally at 7pm someone brought towels. Dinner--all restaurants full....1 hr plus wait. Despite many open tables. Went to manager who suggested a waitlist.. due to non guests with reservations. Pool---hope you like lying on the ground. Chairs taken by 8am. This place does not care about its guests! All the other hotels in the area closed for dining except hotel guests. Really? With golf full, pool full, nothing to do except wait for food or chairs. Ridiculous. I was so excited to stay here, and so terribly disappointed.
We had a lovely Twilight meal served by the able team of Connor and Austin. The food drinks and service were superb and the social distancing felt very safe on the well spaced tables!!! Mr Christy and Team have done an excellent job of adapting their Out door patio for comfortable dining and have maintained their high standards of Hospitality and Ecological friendly practices
I love this hotel. Beautiful landscape, felt very secluded and romantic. The room was big and clean, fun rocking chairs on porch. Bed was super comfortable. Service was quick and staff was excellent. Dinner at Harvest was delicious! I cannot wait to go back.
Even my persnickety husband remarked, That was so much better than I expected. Aside from the beautiful property, each member of the staff was top notch from he valet guys, to the front desk staff, to housekeeping. We will be back
The Ranch is one of our favorite places to stay in Laguna. It is like being in the mountains at the beach. The food and staff are amazing. The beds are very comfortable. A must. We will be back soon!
Beautiful location nestled in the canyon of Laguna. The staff was very helpful and they all had attitudes. We ate at the Harvest. The service was fantastic and our food was delicious. Our overall stay was 5 stars. My only negative comment is the WIFI is extremely spotty and unreliable.
This hidden gem is nice and fits nicely in the price range. Nicer places are more expensive and Ive stayed in places the same price as this that are not as nice. The extra programming and kind service is a nice touch. Super clean room, but the walls are a bit thin. A crying baby next door woke us up. We ate outside at The Harvest restaurant, but were tormented by flies and the food was ok. I liked the food we had at the beach place thats part of this resort better. Small things would make a big difference like lids for the coffee cups in the rooms, teas in addition to coffee and more than one stirring stick.
Our best service we received during our whole stay was from Andy with poolside service. Excellent worker very attentive! The rooms were beautiful and clean. The restaurants get busy quickly so make sure to make a reservation! Great place.
I went to The Ranch at Laguna Beach last night, and really liked it. I started with a drink that was Rum, Orangina, and cranberry... delicious. Of course, we had to try the fried plantains app, which was also great. The yogurt dip it was served with was yummy.
If youre looking for serene and quiet, this is NOT the place. Landscapers with leaf blowers start before 7am on Sundays! Mondays its even worse. Customer service overall is not what it should be for $1100 a night. Had high hopes. Hopefully, they step up their game.
Firstly, id just like to state that this is a very long review and if youd take the time to read it maybe youd consider AVOIDING this place at all costs! The treatment we received this morning (1:30am) from the staff was by far the worst experience my family and I have ever received at ANY hotel, possibly any business establishment. Check in went very smoothly as it always has, we’ve stayed at this exact hotel 15+ times (this WAS our favorite place to stay in Laguna). Our experience. Checking in a little later then usual we settled into our room around 10:30pm. We decided to watch a movie as we put our two kids to bed, we have a 2 year old girl and 1 year old boy. Around 11:30pm (NAME: ARMI) a staff representative knocked on the door to inform us that the front desk received a noise complaint and kindly asked if we could be a little quieter, we respectfully agreed. Our 1 year old is teething and was being a little fussy, we understood the situation and did our best to maintain a lower volume in our room. At 1:00am another knock on the door, this time it was Graham. Graham was NOT polite, very unreasonable, and informed us that we were being KICKED OUT. We explained that we have a small child hoping Graham would display some type of empathy and provide us with a solution, possibly move us to another room. Instead he threatened to call the cops if we did not leave the hotel. To anyone thinking of booking here, I would strongly advise you to think twice if you have small children. We were not having a party, we were not listening to loud music, we simply had a fussy baby who was in pain.Owning a business myself I always think twice before writing a negative review, I understand how impactful they can be. The lack of customer service and professionalism from the staff was shocking.
Had a wonderful experience at The Ranch! Spent one night there. We were able to check in without problem. The way to get around the resort is via golf cart, which you just call the front desk to request. They cart you from your room to reception, room to beach, room to ..wherever! You can also request linens, room service, etc. via an iPad in the room, which was a wonderful touch. Lastly, The Ranch was one of our last stops on a week long vacation and I had to say the water pressure in the shower was ... soooooo good.
Absolutely wonder views. Service was great as expected. Wish their food selection was a bit more diverse for those with allergies and dietary issues. Wife could not eat anything on the menu. But drinks were fabulous!
Terrible service! Don’t stay here, especially now during COVID. We arrived for our 3- night stay and everything- restaurant, golf and the massages were completely booked for the entire weekend. No spaces reserved for hotel guests because it’s all open to the public. What’s the point then if staying at a resort? We couldn’t even get a seat at the outdoor patio. Full at 5:00pm. To top it off, the “Ranch Hand” put our luggage in the wrong room, so we had nothing, including my purse for 2 hrs... so missed dinner and sat in our room since there was nowhere to even sit... Finally, we just decided to leave. No get away weekend for us. I mean what we’re we getting for $500 a night? A bed?
My boyfriend and I loved our stay at the Ranch. I love that the hotel is tucked away in the hills of Laguna
Great location nestled in a canyon beside Aliso beach. Good food and excellent beer selection. Recommended!
Positive: I liked the ranch serene environment it was very relaxing. I liked the amenities and location. Negative: I didnt like that I could hear my neighbors early in the morning while i was sleeping. The rooms are not soundproof and they need to be, and I cant even hear the air conditioner, it wasnt strong.
Beautiful canyon views with the beach just a pleasant walk away by a stream.
I would say the quality of service was like a motel near the highway. They must teach the basics of hospitality, professionalism, respect towards the guest, and manner to their staff. Never seen this much rudeness. Their agent forgot to run my credit card upon checking-in, then on the last day, in the middle of the dinner, I received a very rude call from their reception threatening me to lock our room, if I dont go to the front office, immediately!!! It was a huge shock, I felt harassed, the whole reservation was prepaid and it was their own fault that they forgot to run my card, their rude behavior, not only ruined our dinner but also ruined the whole weekend for us. Extremely disappointed. Also, in the times of the COVID-19 outbreak, their claimed health and social distancing protocols are not accurate. The swimming pool area and patio seating were extremely overcrowded. I noticed the cleaning procedure was just very simple, with no special disinfection related to the COVID-19. The coffee cups used in The Harvest restaurant had signs of lipstick on them, I highly feel worried about the tidiness of pillows and sheets. We scared to use the swimming pool area, it was very overcrowded and we did not feel safe.
Great resort for quite vacation near by the ocean. Very friendly staff. You have a lot of options on the site: the golf, spa, pool, restaurants. The gorgeous beach is 10 walking minutes away from the hotel.
Beach is very close, great location. Hotel offers rides down to beach but it’s an easy walk. Restaurant at hotel is fantastic
Our stay at The Ranch far exceeded our expectations. We arrived at 3pm on a Friday, check in wasnt until 4pm, but our room was already ready. There isnt self parking available to check in, but the wonderful valet staff (talking about you Andrew) will pull your car forward and have it waiting for you when you find out where your room is. The check in process is quick and pleasant, the room RFID room keys are not plastic, but bamboo, a nice touch. We reserved a creek view suite, the view from the room was amazing, between the fish in the bubbling creek, and the red tailed hawks overhead, we had our morning coffee and tea outside every day. I highly recommend the garden tour on Saturday as well, reservations are required. Louis, the Gardener, was extremely informative about everything he produces, and most of the produce is used in the meals made on property. The food at Harvest is also epic. Im a pretty slim guy, but between the Wagyu steak, many seafood dishes, half chicken, I powered through all of my meals even though I was full. Its THAT good. Wait staff is amazing, always accommodating to your every need. I also highly recommend room service for breakfast. You actually order it on a tablet in your room, no phone call necessary. My wifes egg whites were more airy and fluffier than shes ever had, and weve stayed at some amazing places. Just an FYI, there is absolutely zero cell phone service, you have to connect to the free WiFi to make calls. My wifes phone worked great for calls on WiFi, mine did not at first, but Anthony at the front desk is a genius. Im an IT guy and couldnt get my phone to work for calls over WiFi, Anthony gave me some advice and it worked perfectly after that. Honestly though, Id recommend enjoying the dead zone and decompressing without a phone for a few days. My wife came down with a cold about two hours before we arrived. The Amazing front desk manager Jenn pulled out a whole box of cold remedies to help her. Jenn was incredibly accommodating, thoughtful, and made us feel so welcoming every time we saw her with her work ethic, bright and genuine smile, she went above and beyond to make out stay memorable. We usually do staycations at Pechanga, Santa Barbara, San Diego at the Bay Club, no more. Were going to The Ranch for every Staycation from now on out. Only been home for two hours and we already want to go back!
My wife and I made the short drive south from Huntington Beach to Laguna for a short staycation. We absolutely loved the Ranch. We did not feel like we were even in Orange County once on the property. It is a beautiful setting and the resort is awesome!
Great view and nice to wake up to fresh air and scenic view
Place was everything and more. It was beautiful ca.
My favorite place to stay at Laguna beach . Peaceful and quiet, live music every night . Amazing . Will come back
Terribly overpriced place. Like. Comically overpriced. The rooms are small and full of spider webs. It looks like old military barracks. Smells funny too in the rooms. Feel like I was robbed. Tacky place. Nothing like a resort. Pool is full of kids running and screaming. Not relaxing at all.
Close to home bit felt miles away, a beautiful little getaway..
Great place with excellent views. Went to play golf and get brunch at the restaurant there and it was great! The golf was much less expensive than other courses with these type of views/location. Just great.
What a great place, clean, fun just to get lost on the property, golf course was beautiful and every employee was on point. Definitely coming again to stay
We had a nice stay for our anniversary.
Place has a great vibe loved the Sunday Jazz we will be back
Love the scenery, food and live music. Cant find a better backdrop!
All the meals are delicious. Check with them on menu highlights and then do it again for desert.
This hidden gem is amazing. The hotel service is 5 star as well as the dining. I can’t say I was surprised, but it exceeded my expectations. What a great weekend
This is a fantastic resort if you are looking for a unique location that truly embraces the natural beauty of its surroundings. The rooms are well appointed and speak to the local culture. The staff is helpful and friendly. You are in a stunning canyon with a majesric, clean, shimmering ocean a short walk away. This hotel does a great job of offering fantastic complimentary amenities in an effortlessly luxurious setting.
We had a lovely stay at the Ranch at Laguna Beach. The rooms where spacious, extremely clean, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The staff where all polite and extremely helpful. There was great live music on the deck over looking the valley, once back in our room everything was extremely peaceful. The deck overlooking the valley had a great buzzy atmosphere- ideal for a cocktail or coffee. The beach is just opposite the Ranch. Fantastic place- we were happy we found this delightful accommodation.
Loved this place, strongly recommend!
A nice romantic place, outdoor sitting area with gas fire places, surrounded by golf course and rolling hills as back drop. Food is fine and drinks are well coordinated. A good place for date old or young. expect so.e kids playing boccia and some families, couples corn in a hole.Nice touch. Elegant dining is available as well.
I requested early check in.Facility give me a early check in when I arrived. I dont need to wait until 4pm.I really appreciated. Thanks to steps.
Quiet, excellent service, fantastic facility. Unfortunately had to cut our trip short but will certainly be returning in the future.
On our sons 40th birthday my wife and I gave him and his family a resort vacation and they choose The Ranch this past weekend. He and his wife enjoyed a round of golf, his two little girls played in the Volleyball sand and were fascinated by the Raptor show on Saturday. We joined them on Saturday and got to experience their beautiful accommodations, one of your two story units, then we had an early dinner at Harvest. The food was great and the service exceptional. Our server Phillip was outstanding, so friendly, and he gave our two grand daughters a stuffed reindeer. My wife and I live nearby and we plan to visit Harvest and your outdoor cocktail lounge as often as possible.
We came with many family and friends for our sons wedding. The setting is fantastic ×with valley views and the ocean across the street walking distance. Everyone had a great time. We golfed hiked and partied for the full weekend. The pool is very nice and never over crowded. Parking can be difficult so take advantage of the valet instead of waisting time looking for a spot. Loved it.
Delicious and healthy food, servers at the bar are very polite and caring.Atmosphere is very pleasant. Servers, Brandon, Carlos and Mani were specially courteous. We enjoy dinning there.Authentic decoration and pleasant atmosphere. Please enjoy, if you have time
This is an upper mid-scale hotel at luxury hotel prices. The best thing about this hotel is the high design quality of the rooms, which have an upscale beach theme. But theyre set in unattractive motel-style rows that have little separation or seclusion from the crowds, cars, and one another. The hotel does not offer evening turn-down service, a mini-bar, or excellent service, all which should come standard at this market tier. And there is little to no cell phone service on the property. A nice place, but not competitive for its positioning.
Great place for relaxing, golf and good food. The entire staff is trained to make you feel at home and want for nothing. You will enjoy yourself immensely.
This was one of our favorite weekend experiences. The Ranch is a true hidden Gem! Rooms are big, clean, very nice and quiet. I am a light sleeper and its the best sleep Ive gotten in a long time. The resort is very relaxing and they provide many games and options for entertainment. Not to mention the quality of service. BEST SERVICE EVER! and Ive traveled many places around the world.... Highly recommend!
Best steak I’ve had in a while! Salads were really good too. The ribs my wife got were spicy so watch out for that if you don’t like spicy.
Tranquil and cozy. It feels like your in a tropical Wyoming
The staff really makes this place. Every person we dealt with was friendly, knowledgable, and displayed a desire to make our stay as nice as possible.
Place serves the most delicious food and has the most beautiful banquets I have ever seen in OC!
Very nice, just had odd bushes infront of our porch view. They should be removed.
The service from the moments you arrive are on the same level as most 5-diamond hotels. The location is breathtaking and convenient within Laguna. Wouldnt ever hesitate staying here again.
Great resort! Enjoyed playing golf here! Friendly staff and great atmosphere!
Quality accommodation in a beautiful part of the world.
Amazing stay at The Ranch. The 2 bedroom cottage was more than we could have even imagined. Tastefully decorated, clean and very spacious. The entire staff was friendly, helpful and made our stay extremely memorable. What I love most are the views. Most people go to Laguna for the beach, but at The Ranch you get the beach close by and stunning mountain views. We will definitely be back!
We had such a great stay at the Ranch. I love the location in the Canyon, but still having walking access to a great beach. Also super close to downtown Laguna! The restaurant on site has excellent food and the views around the hotel are amazing. Very clean and relaxed feel. Also kid friendly, but not too many kids - perfect! Cant wait to go back, we will stay here again.
We got a 2-story 2 bedroom suite which overlooked the pool; building 4. I really liked the decor inside. Really liked the 1/2 bath downstairs near the dining area. Pool area was nice and had a jacuzzi as well. Up on main level where the dining is has outdoor patio overlooking the golf course which is nice to mingle with other guests. The only negative I will say that the tablets dont seem to be useful. We would put our Room Service request when we leave and return and never done and had to call each time for service.Another one that was probably the most annoying was In-Room dining. After some time wed check the tablet then see a new message saying that it was delivered when in-fact in never was and had to call and find out where the order was. The other was for 2 days straight on breakfast orders Id have to call numerous times as theyd not have our room number or some other reason. Also, on the kids breakfast menu it says scrambled eggs with bacon or sausage. Each time we had it served on an English muffin. There is an egg sandwich option on kid menu as well and weve ordered both and received the same thing. Also, preparation was noted each time that wasnt prepared consistently the same either. First breakfast was good the second not really...even though same dishes ordered both of those days. So Id say all-in-all ....wed come again if we are in town but the in-dining // tablet needs major fine tuning.
What an awesome place! Went for brunch had the most incredible cinnamon roll with bacon! The breakfast burrito was delicious and every other dish at our table was excellent. Our server Manny was very personable and did an excellent job. The view in the canyon was beautiful and I even found a new golf course to try, highly, highly recommend.
We will definitely be coming back again! My husband and I are from North Orange County and decided to do a quick getaway and The Ranch was perfect. It felt like we were far from home. The food was incredible and we loved that we had access to the beach.
An amazing property with superior service. It was delightful to see such a vibrant and service driven culture displayed by the employees. The property is well maintained and the amenities are superb. From the time you pull up to valet until check out, the employees are there to ensure your every want and need is taken care of in a timely manner. First time staying here and our family will be returning annually for years to come!
Secluded resort with privacy protected by canyons
Best freaking resort in O.C.!!!!
Great venue, friendly and professional staff during recent event.
This is a beautiful, well-run facility with friendly, helpful staff. The rooms are gorgeous, the showers amazing and the gym is outstanding.
Beautiful way to spend the afternoon.
Great location, and easy walking distance to the beach. The Harvest is a great restaurant, and the staff is super friendly. This place is also very quiet at night! I will definitely be back in the future.
Positive: Everything. It was so beautiful. The restaurants were great and well priced. Negative: Yes, the fact that I cant live there
I’ll start with the good. Reception staff were friendly and the location is beautiful. The Negatives: Our room had twin sinks, one of which had poor drain flow and could not be used. The microwave was on a high shelf and when I went to open it, it tipped toward me as it was missing a front leg. Definitely a safety hazard. For $358/night, I would expect the room to not only be clean but also properly maintained.Customer Service: We were attending a wedding with an outdoor dinner on the patio. We were seated at the end of the long head table with our backs facing the open space. It was very chilly that evening without a heater near where we were sitting. I asked for a heater and was told I could have the staff member’s jacket...not what I wanted. I was not the only person in our area who was cold. Never received a heater which made for an uncomfortable experience with cold food.Checkout: I had to stop by the front desk to ask for our invoice - no electronic folio. Two days after checking out our credit card still did not show the correct postings. I completed their survey with our concerns and afterward our credit card was posted with the correct charges. I have never received any communication from the resort regarding my concerns. Not what I consider quality customer service. Waited four days for some type of an apology beforewriting this review.Addendum: Five days after we checked out I was contacted by the resort. They apologized and offered a compensation but more importantly, I was assured he understood how important customer service is in making all guests comfortable when attending a special event at their venue. I hope in the future management works with their staff to anticipate and respond to guests needs.
This is a beautiful place. Harvest Restaurant has great food, Bens Market has sandwiches and happy hour. Free valet parking
Beautiful secluded location. Lovely staff and service. Harvest Restaurant has an excellent brunch. Overall, my friend and I enjoyed a wonderful stay here. It was serene and relaxing. I was a tad bit disappointed that there was no soaking tub in the room and that the room was a bit smaller than what I would have imagined for the price. I thought while everyone was very nice, there could have been a little bit extra attention to detail to go out of their way to please guests (remembering names, birthdays, etc.).
Top notch resort with super location
We really enjoyed our short 1-night stay here in March 2019. The 2-level suite was super cozy and the decor looked amazing. The staff was very friendly. I do, however, wish they had wine glasses available inside the suites without a need to call someone to bring them. The restaurant was very good too and inexpensive.
It was a beautiful resort with a lot of activities and a nice beach. The service was great, everyone was nice and really helpful. The rooms were very clean and decorated in a modern way.
Very quiet and relaxing stay. The property and rooms were well maintained an manicured. The two-bedroom suite was very spacious and with lots of closet space and had a cool style. The food was great as we njoyed the outdoor happy hour and room service food and drinks. One of my best experiences with a hotel/resort.
Positive: The food was great! The staff was accommodating! Negative: No cell service. Walls of rooms were easy to hear through and you could hear doors slamming, etc.
Amazing experience overall. The location is gorgeous and the rooms are well maintained. The only thing I would say is that the heated pool is a bit too cold and had our Toddler shivering when she jumped in. But thats no big deal. We will definitely be back!
The whole experience from the room, to the food and pool area was amazing! I felt like it was close to things but also a retreat. Love the attention to detail.
Great menu, fantastic views. Absolutely love this place.
What a beautiful and tranquil setting. I would highly recommend stayingat The Ranch and/or dinning at Harvest. The service and welcoming attitude were wonderful. We would definitely stay here again.
Fantastic and fresh food, I like the vibes the spot has, and the employees were helpful. I will definitely come back again.
Really good experience .
Nice view, bland pricey food.
Amazing drinks from bartender Carlos! Much appreciated!
Enjoyed our stay. Beautiful property. Really enjoyed the live music on the patio in the evenings and seeing the deer on the golf course.
It is just a great place to be.
A true hidden gem just across the street from the Montage. It feels like you are in a hidden canyon, away from the windy beach, with a nine hole golf course, a great pool atmosphere and a fabulous restaurant. Highly recommend
Perfect location for a secluded getaway, and an even better spot if you plan to golf. The resort is a quick 5 minute walk to the beach and close to hiking trails as well. The rooms were clean and feature their own outdoor area to lounge.
