We came here twice together and its become a place we absolutely love. Even though things are a tiny bit different with the pandemic going on, the experience didnt fail to be amazing. Looking forward to many more years of surf and sand anniversary getaways. Simple yet pure, here are just some of my photos to share with you.

The spa, restaurant, and service staff are fantastic. The front desk staff seem to be overwhelmed with several guests arriving prior (3:00 pm) to the FIRM 4 pm check in time. Views are amazing, the balcony over the water is relaxing and private from neighboring rooms. The hotel beach area can be very minimal if the tide is high, they do provide chairs, towels and service on the beach. The rooms have great views over the ocean, beds are super comfy with nice linen and down comforters but they are aging on the inside could be cleaner in general. I would go back (with lowered expectations) solely due to my spa experience. ️

This place is just bonkers beautiful. If you don’t stay in the towers, which they really push you to do, you get to basically sleep over the water. Which is nothing short of heaven. The property is gorgeous. The staff is friendly. The pool was awesome. Most everything is within walking distance too. You won’t be disappointed!

Expensive but worth it. The view was spectacular! View so amazing that even my son and husband didnt automatically turn on the TV. The sound of the waves crashing onto the beach lulled us all to sleep. Room service was great! Great selection of cocktails, wine, and beer. My son loved his breakfast of pancakes and fresh berries. Memorable experience.

The staff here was absolutely amazing. The hotel was nice and obviously the view was great but the friendliness and helpfulness of every single employee we interacted with the most memorable part of the trip. Thanks to the Front desk, splashes staff, and housekeeping - you guys helped my husband and I forget the stress of 2020 and enjoy our anniversary!

The hotel is very nice don’t get me wrong, but it’s very old.. the view was stunning you could hear the waves through the window. But there was no ac in the room which made it very hot. I was told to open the door for “fresh air” . The beds are very hard and uncomfortable. I wouldn’t stay here again . It’s definitely a memorable experience with the view but not worth the money you spend .

Initial impression was very positive. Very friendly and professional service. However, the restaurant was okay but they served a 2017 wine when the menu said 2016 vintage. Didn’t realize this until we had a glass and a half, and they only discounted $25 off the $100 bottle. Never would have bought it had I expected 2017 vintage. The discount is not nothing but it as the most expensive item on my ticket, it kind of ruined the experience. I’ve had $25-$30 bottles of wine better than this.Rooms are nice; you’re paying for location. I get that. But the pillows as super hard and huge. I asked for their softest and fluffiest pillow and they sent up two pillows exactly the same as before. Hard and bulky. After calling again, I waited for 40+ minutes. Never heard from them, so at midnight at this point I asked them to cancel the request and got a towel out of my car to use to sleep on. Went to the front desk and the guy wasn’t very helpful and said they probably won’t find me a pillow. Given the price to sleep here, this is unacceptable.

We loved Splashes. Food was excellent and service great. Our room was amazing over the waves. So close! And loud! ..all night the bed was meh, the carpet was meh, but all in we had fun. Oh and the massages were good.

Beautiful hotel right on the waterfront. This was a favorite place to stay for me and my late husband. We spent a lot of time here. It is pricey but worth it and its quietly relaxing and clean. The staff are also so nice and helpful. Treat yourself to a weekend and take your mind off of the outside world.

It is a cool Resort right on the beach. You can choose: pool or Ocean. The view is awesome either way.(I have not tried any food bcs its pricey). I am sure its all good.

The two great things this place has going for it are the view of the ocean and the private beach. Depending on what kind of room you get you can be right on the water and wake up to the sound of the beautiful waves. Otherwise, the food except the nachos and the chicken strips was nothing to write home about. The pool was open but it gets too crowded. It would have been nice for 400 and 500 dollars a night to have some in room entertainment like Netflix or HBO. To finish, You will enjoy this place if you go in with the right expectation.

The location of the hotel is amazing, right on the sand! The level of service and cleanliness of the hotel is exceptional too. Someone is constantly cleaning the common areas and all the staff are wearing masks. We enjoyed our stay tremendously and will definitely be back

I loved my experience they made me feel so special for my bday took me chocolates and champagne we got treated really good. The room was super clean and the view was amazing. I will be going back next year for sure. And the food at the restaurant splash amazing as well.

Corona Virus Super Spreader hotel & restaurant. We made a dinner reservation at Splashes. While having dinner we observed at least 90% of the people not wearing masks walking around the hotel, walking in from the pool area through the restaurant, in the restaurant, bathrooms, getting in the elevators, etc. I expressed my concern to the dining room manager named Sam and his response was that they cannot force people to wear masks. The hell they cant. A customer walked up to the blonde hostess at Splashes and said sorry I forgot my mask. The hostess said, oh its okay. No, its not okay. This hotel/restaurant only cares about the $$$$. They could care less about your health, my health, their employees health. We cancelled a reservation we had at the hotel after learning that masks are not enforced. They have also lost a customer at Splashes restaurant. We will never return to such a careless establishment. Shame on you Surf and Sand. You should care more about your customers and employees. Your Corona Virus Super Spreader hotel & restaurant are not worthy of any customers! We plan to stay at the Ritz Carlton instead.

Every. Room. Has. An. Ocean. View. Had a great stay here during a work related event. The staff was superb and very helpful in all aspects. They were knowledgeable and very willing to make sure things went well. The views are just awesome. Going to sleep to the sound of waves is simply peaceful, and if it’s too much for you there are earplugs provided for you in the rooms .

Save your money. It was beautiful to be on the water but the service was poor. We reserved 2 penthouses for the weekend; easily a 8k expense. My mother was celebrating her 68th with some family and friends. They were held at check in for an hour because of my moms card Issue (even though haft the stay was already paid for on my card which was still on file). When i arrived that night i went downstairs to add another card just in case and the front desk told me everything was fine and no cards needed to be added. My mother also called the next morning and gave a new card just in case. When my mom left for lunch the next day she was locked out of her room. We called the front desk and a rep said that she had only paid for one night so they unkeyed the rooms. No accommodation, no real assistance, no extraordinary service, no empathy. I’ve stayed all over the world in luxury resorts, hotels, and rooms. It is uncommon to charge any card the full balance on the first night of a guests stay as the card is usually ran at the end of the stay to account for any additional expenses to the room. You can also use a different payment method at the end of your stay. It is also standard across the board that the hotel is to cater to all guest, but especially those staying in your top rooms (aka, spending extraordinary amounts of money). Please save your money on a resort that understands how to treat their guest. My mother told me and the front desk that they ruined her birthday experience on the water. This was very upsetting!

Tomato burrata salad was huge but dressing was salty. Fried octopus, scallops and burgers were great. Flat bread was ok. Staff nice. Cocktails super expensive! Valet parking only

Although I live 8 minutes away this place has become second home to my family and I. The private beach, the great waiters by the pool and front desks it feels like we are visiting friends. So much so that we keep running into new friends we met last month. Thank you for your excellent serve. See you soon.

Right on the beach. Accommodations and service was great. Valet service was hit and miss though but not bad enough to to take away a review star.

Very old. Dirty. No A/C. Low class. Big disappointment. Took my wife there for a few days over her birthday. Will NEVER go back. We tell all our friends how bad it was. Way over priced for what you get.

Ate at the lower lever bar with a view to die for with the ocean and sand below you could almost reach. Great food, drinks and service. This is the place to be!

The view is like.. the only this place has going for it. Food wasn’t great, service was meh, the rooms were outdated and dusty.. Our first room opened up with an ocean view but also the pool and the entirety of guests right in front who could also see right into our room.. Our second room already had people in it.. which was awkward. Our third room’s view was amazing. But again, it was dusty, there was no AC, mediocre service.. You can only watch local TV unless you want to pay $20 for a movie.. We ended up checking out a day early because we were so underwhelmed. Bummer!

Always a treat. View from Splashes at Surf and Sands cant be beat. The service is friendly and attentive and food excellent . We shared the Blackened chicken Nachos which were out of the world. The restaurant is equally top notch. Without a doubt one of our favorite Laguna restaurants.

Best staff from bellhops to concierge, from restaurant waitstaff to front desk attendant. Gorgeous views, cant be beat. Not a bad room in the house. Midday to late afternoon the sun causes room to be quite warm, but we just opened up both doors for a cross breeze and we were fine. They are upgrading and adding AC, I think it is unnecessary. Clean, full-service resort. Beach access by stairs; poolside.there are wonderful lounges and gazebos with full ocean view. Bring your nice camera, you will want sunrise and sunset photos! Patio area with fireplace and multiple firepits with plush seating; we ate takeaway for dinner and enjoyed coffee and morning goodies from the onsite coffee shop. Hotel gift shop has lots of beautiful things which are reasonably priced. Had an amazing getaway with in laws and all our kiddos for fall break.PS nearby tidepools are amazing, visit at low tide. See concierge for details and a map. To-go delicious Italian food was found at Ginas, great Mexican dinner at Avilas, and breakfast at Penguin Cafe were some of the favorites.Live it up! You only live once, enjoy!

It was beautiful place are room was facing the beautiful ocean and at night and early in the morning you could here the sound of ocean love it!! had no air conditioning i didnt mind that it didnt have air conditioning they gave us bottle water and a bucket of ice to place the water in the refrigerator in the room was not working and when you turned on the water it smelled like rotten egg but the service was good

We visited Laguna Beach for the afternoon and decided to enjoy lunch with the kiddos by the pool at the Surf and Sand Resort. The kids burgers are regular size (so they are large enough for an adult). We ordered the fruit instead of fries for the burger meals and we were pleasantly surprised as to the quality and selection of fruits (pineapple, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries) there was none of the typical melon fruit you normally get when you ask for fruit. The burgers were tasty and had good buns. The chicken strips and fries were also good. The pool is surrounded by lounge chairs and long soft bench seats. The kids loved the pool too. It was heated and there was also a hot tub to enjoy. Theres a wet bar and they serve spirits, brews and wines. We will consider staying at this hotel in the future.

I have always wanted to stay at this place. But my recent interaction has completelychanged my mind. They illegally and fraudulent double charged my credit card for a 2 day reservation $1,601.16. When their policy states they will only charge for one night to hold reservation. Additionally, they charged over more than the original stay cost. The hotel never sent me a confirmation of the reservation to this day. only to charge for a stay reserved 3 months out. They still have not responded to me about the double charges or my refund. They have raven reviews, but their reservation process is poor, they dont follow their own policies and customer follow-up is pitiful. Last, they steal your money by double charging your credit card. STAY AWAY FROM HOTELS LIKE THIS.

I really wish I could give the resort all 5 stars. It was absolutely beautiful! Every employee was exceptional. Splashes is a wonderful restaurant. Splashes bar is beautiful and the bartenders are very kind. Our room service was excellent and on time. The one and only complaint.... the couple staying next to us constantly smoked on their balcony. I believe they are all supposed to be smoke free. We called several times to the front desk but the smoking persisted. We were so bummed we couldnt leave our door open to the balcony to hear the ocean. The reason we wanted to stay there. Due to a transplant I cannot be around cigarette smoke so our time unfortunately was ruined. I wish the front desk would have done something or warned us about the smoking or offered to move us. Otherwise the resort is magnificent.

Tasty. Expensive. Quite a unique location with awesome beach view and the best lobster soup. Worth trying at least once. Dont forget to take some cash for Valet tips with you and book a table in advance.

Went for a deep tissue massage. The staff was very friendly and professional. The locker area had everything that I needed and if it was not there just make a call on the house phone.Prior to the massage you get a room with lockers, bathroom, shower, sauna, and a jacuzzi for you to warm up in. Once youve done that you wear your provided robe to the waiting area. Your masseuse will come greet you and take you to your room.This room is where you will have your massage and other services done. Once the massage (deep tissue for me) is done you can go back to the lounge or the locker room and enjoy the amenities. It was amazing and I enjoyed some Viking Blood Mead at the bar after. Amazing day.

The hotel staff tried to break in our room. We found our room door wide open when we returned from dinner. The hotel security was standing near our room when when exited the elevator and found our door wide open. He denied entering and had the hotel ask us to leave. THEY MADE US LEAVE AFTER SOMEONE BROKE INTO OUR ROOM. I LEARNED ONLINE THUS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THE SECURITY DID THIS TO A GUEST AT THIS RESORT. Horrible management and customer service!

We stayed here for 2 nights great location great beach. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. They have no charge umbrella and chairs that they will set up for you. I would stay in the tower with the Juliana Balconies. Stunning views from most rooms. Would recommend friends and family to stay at this establishment. Did not use the restaurants.

Had dinner at Splashes and watched sunset. The food was excellent and the staff was enjoyable. I added some pics of the sunset. I would recommend you get there 30 minutes before the sun sets to watch...

We barely left the room!!! Its just so gorgeous you dont want to leave. Staff is sooo friendly, kind, and helpful. We literally sat on our patio all day and ordered room service. Then slept with the patio door wide open and listened to the waves all night. Its just magical.

The Surf & Sand Resort is beautiful and right on the Pacific Ocean. There are Incredible ocean views from every room and the sunsets are amazing! The staff are very attentive and friendly. Darcel at the front desk was especially great to work with and made my wife and I feel special.If you are coming to Southern California, you need to experience Laguna Beach and the Surf & Sand. Resort.

Fantastic views, great service, beautiful rooms. The only two issues were not having A/C and the waves crash so close and loud that between the warmth and noise, it made it hard to sleep. If I were on Vacation I wouldnt mind. They provide earplugs. But it was rough for business when I was already fighting the time change from the East coast.

Stopped by for the day and was surprised to see that no one was taking social distance seriously. The pool was packed with people. I saw no social distancing with chairs, no protocol to follow, and no one wearing masks.Very unprofessional of the owner and manager to have to dismiss public health and safety not only to the guests, but the STAFF! I talked to a few staff members and they felt uncomfortable about their position to serve people because there was no safety protocol. This is NOT OKAY and the Surf and Sand do not care about their employees or guests! I will NOT be surprised if there are numerous cases of Covid-19 at this resort!

Words can’t describe how beautiful and cozy this resort is. Their spa is heavenly with excellent level of service. Our experience here has been always delightful over the years. Highly recommend if you are not a big city lover but rather nature, ocean and refreshing air away from the hectic life.

We ate dinner at the splashes restaurant. Best filet mignon ever. they had yummy bread and a beautiful view of the ocean crashing right beneath your feet. we watched a seagull eat a bunny!!!

I didnt go to the resort but I went to the restaurant good food not a lot for the price but its Laguna so it is to be expected.

So walking under this place in laguna I have wanted to stay here for years. Finally we did it. First of all let me say that stuff is great, check in and out check was smooth and valet was great. The rooms however are pretty dated, they have a dusty smell and if you run your finger over the counter or tables there is dust that comes off.If you do not like goat cheese there are not a lot of things on the menu you will like for room service it seems like they are really really into goat cheese.I don’t think I would stay here again.

Could not be closer to the ocean. We came for a night mid week and got upgraded to a penthouse which was amazing. Didnt feel crowded even through they were hosting a corporate event (or two?). We had lunch at the pool and dinner at the Splashes bar downstairs just feet above the beach. The whole property was clean, friendly, good food, and absolutely beautiful views.

Enjoyed 20th wedding anniversary here. We were on the 9th floor. Room was a perfect size. If you want more of a balcony stay on the 8th floor and below. Walked on the beach and enjoyed the pool. Staff was very friendly. We will surely stay here again.

We were looking for a resort right on the beach and we found it. What a great place. Casual and upscale with very friendly staff nestled around great restaurants. You cant ask for more than that.

Fantastic location and 5 star service. They over heard us at the front desk that we had a birthday. 10 minutes after getting into our room they brought us wine and chocolates. Everyone was very nice and views out to the ocean from the ocean front rooms is amazing. Sunsets right out your window over the ocean and Catalina island. We will be back.

The resort sits right on the beach, so the view is beautiful. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The staff at the resort is very helpful. My only complaint is that there is only valet parking for hotel guests which is 30$. Steep.

Weekend getaway, loved this beach and the views from the hotel!! The property is large and lovely but not all rooms have Air Conditioning (this was a very humid and hot weekend). Excellent staff and Barbara in guest services was amazing; she went above and beyond in helping me and arranged for a move to an air conditioned room and directing me to the free trolley that stops outside and runs to local shops and restaurants. Splashes bar has an excellent view right on the beach and their staff was also extremely helpful and friendly. The spa was a good experience as well.

I didnt stay at the resort but if youre looking for a beautiful beach wedding venue without the sand, this is the place for you. I attended a wedding a couple days ago and this was the most beautiful setting Ive encountered. The ocean, the waves, the sunset; it was perfect

Splashes is the best place to celebrate special occasions and also to make any day a special occasion. Service is always excellent and their wonderful menu is prepared to perfection. Dont forget to order a handcrafted beverage. Any way you choose to celebrate, do it right at Splashes.

We love going out. Yesterday we came to this superb place which friends recommended to us. We passed a beautiful experience there with fine meal and an experienced team and an impressive chef. We added this restaurant in our phone list and we shall surely come back very soon. Highly recommended.

Beautiful view from room! Never disappointed!

Simply amazing. The entire facility is beautiful. Then you step out and see the views. The food is delectable and the service is outstanding. I look forward to returning again and again in the future.

One year ago today I was standing on one of the beautiful balconies of the Surf and Sand Resort gazing out at the amazing view when I turned around to my boyfriend down on one knee asking me to be his wife. 7 year prior, him and I were standing in that exact same spot on our very first date. Between the beautiful view, the sentimental location, and becoming a fiancee, I can easily say it was the most amazing moment I have ever experienced.What I didnt know until later was that the Surf and Sand Resort went above and beyond to help my now fiance plan that perfect moment. When he called the resort to explain what he wanted to do they were overjoyed and excited to help! They scheduled a time to meet with him so that he could find the same balcony that we were on 7 years ago (which is a tough task since there are multiple beautiful balconies!), they checked their schedule to make sure there were no other events going on the day my fiance wanted to propose, and they even allowed my family and my fainces family to hide in one of their suites during the proposal in order to take pictures of the event (complementary of the hotel!). Everything went perfectly as planned making that day feel like a fairytale!I am forever thankful for the kindness and helpfulness the Surf and Sand Resort showed to me and my fiance on this very special day. It is for this reason that I highly recommend the Surf and Sand Resort for anyone that is looking for a BEAUTIFUL, romantic, relaxing place to go on vacation, stay a few nights, or even visit for for the day. Their friendly staff and incomparable accommodations will make any stay one you will remember forever.Thank you Surf and Sand Resort, you are a place I will always hold every close to my heart!

Exquisite oceanfront view from a fifth-floor balcony. Inside or out I was both mesmerized and relaxed by the sound of the wild sea below! Though my first love is for the panoramic view of the Pacific, the room itself was spacious and comforting when I wasnt enjoying the sea breezes sitting on the furnished balcony. Room service promptly brought outstanding cuisine from its resort restaurant Splashes. The staff was exemplary and always pleasant. On-Resort services were popular, which means book spa services early. Tip: Slowly enjoy the reveal when you experience your oceanfront guest room for the first time!!
