Unlike anywhere you would expect to find in Alaska! With public picnic tables and shallow water, this is a fantastic spot to take kids for an afternoon picnic, or to explore and enjoy the ocean. It was a little busier than anticipated with the fall fishing season and watch your step for pointy rocks or sticks underneath the sand.

Very special beach with such a shallow rise to it that the tide goes out probably 200 yd so theres lots of shallow water, good for kids to play in. My theory about the designs and swirls the sand makes is that the white sand and black sand have different densities, so as the waves ripple through the sand, it causes them to lay out in patterns, very beautiful. And different every time youre there.

Huge open space at low tide. Good camping, fishing, hiking, and pick nick area. Be aware of bear notice signs.

At first, you dont see much more than strips of white, sandy beach, but then you see more of the white sands just below the surface of the shallows. The main shore is mostly black sands, stone, rock, and seaweed. But for seashell hunters its ideal. One of the people with us even found a starfish. The beaches are surrounded by picturesque mountains and the area is great for photographers.

Who knew this place existed? A beach with white sand in Alaska! Actually, its white and black stripes together that make it extra beautiful. Make sure you go when its low tide.

Beautiful

Usually quiet and generally a nice place to visit. Very nice trails to hike. There are installed picnic tables and benches to use and plenty of parking. There are some good spots for fires on the beach and along the tree line too.

Can be nice fishing and creek is small also Beach is nice and has some great views with trails to hike

White Sands Beach is an excellent place for a walk, picnic, fishing and wildlife viewing. Very close to downtown Kodiak and scenic viewpoints along the way.

The beach is not the best. There is a lot of broken glass. But the hiking is beautiful!

One of my favorite places. I get a sense of peace here.

Its always so nice to be out enjoying the nature that our island provides for us. Unfortunately, the amount of glass on the beach has gone up again. Its so unfortunate that were unable to keep our beaches clean, especially after community members take their time to clean up others litter.
