Very interesting canopies that canvas multiple trails ranging in difficulty. Between the numerous biking trails, as well as mountainous hiking areas, this is probably one of the best kept secrets in the area. Less traffic with regards to people in comparison to Ijams. I would highly recommend it.
Nice hiking and mountain biking. Real nice.
Beautiful hardwood forest with a vatiety of hiking trails at various levels of difficulty and lenght from as little as a half mile to a 12.5 mile loop.
I love this place! Best place to mountain bike in the area! Trails are maintained and have a great flow!
Excellent trails! I enjoy mountain biking here
Don’t tell your friends about this awesome place. Let’s keep it a secret!
Not as well known as other outdoor areas but so very much worth your time. A hidden gem. Great mountain biking spot!
Great trails to spend the whole day on!
Great place to go if youre looking for quick nature walks! Sinkhole is right at the beginning and really cool to see.
Very narrow road and it goes both ways to get to the trails.Be careful. Very woodsy. Was not expecting it to be.Ruined my shoes from the mud.Thought we were going on a walk like a man made woodsy trail but this was the real deal. Definitely a place to wear boots or hiking shoes not regular shoes and to pack water and be prepared. Told my friends I was scared I was gonna hear banjos
Very beautiful and rustic. I wish the trails were better marked. Very easy to get lost. Would be nice to have printed maps available.
Not sure if this is a trail to walk through. Seems like more of a bike trail. Pretty sure the entrance/exit is too narrow for 2 cars to pass by each other. I ️all parks!
Pros: Some of the best trail running, biking, and hiking trails in Knoxville. Many miles of awesome trails weave through the woods with great views in the winter and a dense get away in the summer. There is also a healthy population of deer, turkeys, owls, and wild flowers. The pond is nice as well. You feel like you are in the lower elevations of the smokies, but 5 miles from downtown.Cons: The parking lot is a little tough to find. The trails tend to be muddy with the exception of the gravel Margaret road trail. If you mtn bike, stick to the gravel if its muddy. Be warned, this park is in a deep valley and gets little sun in the winter, so it is slick unless there have been a few days of dry weather.
I have lived in East Tennessee my entire life but somehow never knew of this gem. My husband and I stopped by today for an evening stroll and were so surprised to find find such a calm, peaceful setting in the middle of a Knoxville! We spent about 2 hours wandering around the different trails and it really felt like we were in the mountains. We will definitely be back to explore again!
Trail running here is exciting! There are just enough small hills for you to get some momentum going. It is very muddy right now because they are doing construction on the trails.
Great place to hike and just chill. Lots of bikers so hike with care!
Good place for hiking and walking. Trails maintained well
Went to see the Kantucky Head Hunters. Had a great time.
One of South Knoxvilles many hidden treasures. Wonderful spot for hiking
Beautiful trails. Favorite place to hike in the Urban Wilderness trails. Would definitely recommend for mountain bikers as well. Some of the trail looks pretty difficult.
This relatively-unknown trail system is part of the South Knox Urban Wilderness, and is a great way to spend an hour or two hiking. At times the number of mountain bikes can be a little excessive, but overall this is a fun place to bring the family for a quick, easily-accessible hike in the hills. Trails range from flat and easy to relatively steep.
Peaceful trail you have choices of difficult or more difficult trails. Loved seeing different flowers & trees blooming. Seen lots of squirrels, insects, frogs & some paw prints.
Good trails good for beginner or advanced hikers.
Took the dogs for a nice walk. Very well kept!
Secluded little area, but nice. Couple of good biking trails linked to main ijams loop.
Peaceful and pretty. Trial was slightly hard to see but thats okay. Had very easy trail markers.
Very beautiful park great climbing trail hiking trails and biking trails. Deffanittly will go back and add some photos later
Love the trails. So peaceful
Great trails, and theyre always building more
Pretty trails. Not busy at all. This park is great to get your hiking fix.
Wonderful place to hike. Pristine, deep forest, many trails, lightly traversed.
Fabulous wilderness area very close to downtown with great hiking trails and bike trails. Also has a gravity bike trail.
We love walking here.
This is a great Mountain. Bike area connects to all the south Knoxville trail system. Beginners and novice will enjoy this park
Always a great time!
Great place for a long hike or a stroll. Very convenient to South Knoxville
Great place to mountain bike!
Great place for a bike ride or a hike!
William Hastie Natural Area is comprised of about 75 acres of mature woodland, with ridges and narrow drainages. The forest is mostly hardwood, with a few areas of pine and cedar on drier slopes. It is in a karst area, with several active sinkholes, and a pond with no visible outlet. This pond probably drains into the cave system that continues into the Ross and Meads Quarry areas of Ijams Nature Center. The area may have been previously farm or pasture land, but now contains many large trees of numerous species. There is a rich community of wildflowers, with most of the locally frequent species as well as several rarities blooming at any time from March to November. William Hastie Natural Area is criss-crossed with a number of trails established and maintained by the Appalachian Mountain Biking Club. The trails range from easy to moderately difficult for biking, but mostly easy for walking or hiking.
Went for a nice walk today.
