Great for casual hikes with options of up to 7 miles but intersecting loops to make it shorter. Has hills but options to keep the trail flatter. Bike accessible as well, but there are a bit of roots in the trail at times. Fishing and kayaking had on the calm lake. Over all a great place for the above. However, it can be difficult to leave with Alcoa Highway traffic.
Nice trail system for hiking and biking. The lake is beautiful, and a nice place for folks to fish. Blue Heron may even be spotted along the banks. If youre looking for a good hour or two of trail walking or running, but dont have time to make it all the way to the mountains, this is a very nice alternative.Note...no restroom/out house facilities.
Five stars for the park - 0 stars for the up-to-no-good individuals that hung out in the area near the boat ramp. I read in previous reviews that there were some shady individuals doing sketchy things at this park. The park has good reviews for the most part, so I decided go to for the purpose of kayaking. There were, in fact, many shady individuals that were clearly up to no good. Within the time of me being there, I witnessed approximately seven or eight different male individuals slowly driving around the parking lot, back and forth until finally pulling besides another parked car. From what I could see, one individual would get into the other individuals car parked besides theirs - or they would talk and then both drive off together. I even turned around at one point and, unfortunately, had to witness an old man with his underwear down to his ankles. I was forced to call the police because there were kids around and I did not want them exposed to these pathetic, disgusting individuals. The water was wonderful and the park looked clean. I am looking forward to going back - hopefully this time there will be less, if not none, sketchy individuals cruising the parking lot. Please always be very cautious of your surroundings, anywhere you go - and if you have children, make sure they are close and keep your eye on them at all times.
This was the first time back running the trails here in about 6 years. The trails were gorgeous with the autumn colors. But why are there still so many sketchy dudes lurking in their cars?
Walked the trail around the lake. Trash everywhere. Narrow walking trails. Lots of tree roots and branches to trip on. Not for an amateur. Got about 3/4 of the way and came upon a timber rattlesnake. Tree limbs hang down that could allow a tick to fall into your hair. No safety measures on trail. Very easily could fall into the lake.
Great for fishing but there isnt any bathroom or Porto potty.
Had a nice hike with the dogs. We have a dog who is afraid of other dogs, and it was great that we were the only people and dogs on the trail. Trails are well maintained and we saw some lovely early spring wild flowers. We encountered one cyclist, and he was as surprised to see us we were to see him. We will remember this great resource in town. Parking was the only concern. Theres not much space in front of the gate, and it says not to block the gate.
Nice hike, no bathrooms at this park.
I caught one small Bluegill in the 2 hours that I was there. Its a nice setup though.
Great natural paths for walking. Over 5 miles of trails. Great new entrance with restrooms, dog park, playground.
Pretty nice trails. Seems like it could definitely be a little shady, so I was on alert. Also, I really wish fishermen would pick up their trash. The first 1/2 mile of the trail is covered in bait containers and fishing line. Trails werent too bad. I wont be hiking it alone next time.
Nice place for a nature walk and a railroad walk lol
Excellent for beginners in both hiking and cycling. A nice series of well-maintained trails that can offer some tranquility close to home.
The mtb trails are just ok.
Nice, convenient to get too. It has a boat ramp good fishing and it clean.
Always clean, got a nice light for night fishin, easy accessable boat ramp, luv fishin here!
Beautiful. But cant escape the sounds of cars going by, being right off the hwy
We have mountain biked here many times and we like the convenience of the location. Even its close to town there are not many folks around, you are likely to have a peaceful ride. Lots of roots and rock on the easy trials can make them technical. The entrance is hard to find so be ready to turn quickly. Hills and lakes, lots of views.
Great trail. No sign post
Good place for fishing.Just gotta be aware of your surroundings.
Seven black people went by on bikes and we were nice let them by and then stopped in the middle of the trail and then mocked us then just set there and said we got one and they were rude as hell I never will never go back there again
Quiet trails and gorgeous views; its a great place to sneak in a short trail run or mountain biking ride. A few years ago, there were safety concerns at the southern entrance where men were known to meetup. Since closing that entrance, Ive not encountered any issues.
Beautiful dog park and nice trails.
A great day outside! Mtn biking or trail running!
Great trails for running, hiking, and mountain biking. You can do about a 6-mi loop in about an hour on a mountain bike. Makes for a great workout warming up along the lower trails along the lake and then climbing three separate ridges for a total of an 800-ft elevation gain.
Fun place to boat and fish .but crowded
Although this park has a terrific trail for cross-country running and a nice size pond for fishing its still off the beaten path and sketchy bringing people there that might not be filled with good intentions. If you dont mind that sketchy people and dont go alone...this place is great.Big challenging hills on the backside of the trail, Kimbles Ladder one of them is called. Its rough and steep. But thats not the only hard section either. If you keep going it keeps on going up.Switchbacks galore.Theres a new section which is much less challenging. Or you can skip Kimballs ladder and try wimps passage.LoL
Great mountain bike trails! Beginner loops and Upper Lake are a lot of fun.
Great fishing spot.
Great for hiking but not for family picnic
Some of the scenery is beautiful!
Pretty nice park. Some trash that needs to be picked up. Nice trails for hiking and great for kayaking around.
Very peaceful but a loooooonng hike around the trail, lol.
A bit muddy, but amazing run nonetheless!
Nice trails for walking and nice places to fish
Brought my grandson here to fish. He pulled in a couple of blue gill and a baby bass. All in all we had fun. The water isnt as clean as some places we go but the fishing pier is a great spot to cast from.
Great trails for hiking or biking .
Great trails within 15 minutes of my house. Been riding there for years.
Its a great place to relax and look for a job on the phone
Good place to fish
Like to walk my little dog off leash on the many miles of trails built by the Applachian Mountain Bike club. Sometimes you see sketchy people in the parking lot but I believe they are harmless. Great trail running close to the university and downtown.
Good for trail running and MTB riding. Some tough climbs, rooty sections, but also shoreline easier trails, too.
Nice boat ramp easy to put any boat in the water. Also good access to main channel of Lake.
Good shape even with all the rain. Just a few small muddy spots. Lots of leaves made trails a little more forgiving.
Easily accessible finishing spot
Nice trails could be loner
Great trail to walk and run
Nice place to take your young ones to fish off pier...Even if the cats are not biting the kids will have fun catching blue gill and sometimes small stripe under the pier
So much fun for the family
I had some time to kill while in the area and so I found this park. I did both the north and south shore trails. They are all well marked and easy to follow. Although it was Labor Day weekend there was hardly anyone else there. It was a quiet and relaxing place to hike. Beware, however, that there is no fresh water or bathroom facilities.
Pretty!
Combination old and new mountain bike trails. No machine-cut trails
Nice little place to fish!
Good place to fish, and lots of walking trails. But access to them are at the far end of a very narrow road, which is the only vehicle access in or out of location. Its set right off Alcoa hwy as well so not the quietest location.
Bike trails but trails can be used for hiking. Great views. Will be planning more trips here soon.
Nice hike mountain bike trail with small boat ramp good fishing area
The best place to go with family and friends
Great trails, never see anyone else there
Its semi-cruisey, but also accessible for hetero folks to hike and bike.
Great fishing spot
Favorite biker trail
Awesome trails. Great variety.
Beautiful park to hike or go fishing.
Good trails, there is occasionally the sounds of cars or trains passing, but good overall.
Great place to spend the day kayaking with minimal boat traffic
The peace and quiet
Nasty area, nasty water, watch your back here.
Nice place..
A good place to hike and fish
Fishing wey awebos good place
Fishing is not great here.
Nice park to fish, ride bikes, hike, etc.
Great hike
There is a second entrance that is usually open it is directly off Alcoa Highway. So if it looks close there is a way.
No Restroom.
